Teresa and her assistant (sorry, can’t remember her name!) were lovely and very accommodating. Class given in English and Teresa broke everything down in easy to follow steps. There were 4 of us booked for the class and we all worked together with Teresa supervising. All made 3 Pastel de Nata pastries which we could enjoy at the end/take away with us. Refreshments provided whilst we waited for them to cook. Great way to spend the afternoon, meeting new people and learning about the Portuguese culture.

Itinerary
Learn how to make the iconic Pastel de Nata in a cozy, hands-on cooking workshop in the heart of Porto, near Sé do Porto, guided by instructors with years of experience in Portuguese pastry. During the workshop, participants take turns actively participating in the recipe, following a clear step-by-step process under the guidance of the instructor. Participation in the preparation is shared among the group. For full, individual participation in all stages, please ask about our private workshop option. The class focuses on preparing the custard filling and baking process. The puff pastry is pre-prepared, and you’ll receive a house-made recipe to recreate it at home. The session includes a short introduction to the history of the Pastel de Nata in Portugal. Each participant will prepare several Pastel de Nata, which can be enjoyed on site or taken away. A transport box is included. Throughout the workshop, enjoy Port wine, juice, water, coffee, and a selection of sweet and savory snacks in a relaxed atmosphere. At the end of the session, you’ll leave with the confidence and recipe to recreate this Portuguese classic at home.

Sofia was such a joy! We had a great time learning and making the recipe for pastel de nata. We forgot to buy the pan kit, but plan to make the recipe in tie for Thanksgiving.
My wife and I really enjoyed the workshop with Luis and Anita. It was a nice cosy setting. Everyone got something to do, the port was good, the company was good and the pasteis de nata were delicious. Everyone makes 4 pieces, the hat you can take with you. And in the store you’re able to buy a backing set to make the recipe (for 15 pieces) at home (for a reasonable price). Thnx Luis and Anita!
This was a great workshop - supporting local bakers and artists. Highly recommend. Meandering through the narrow streets to get there just added to the experience!
Really good fun, good value, great hosts.
please please please do this experience!! teresa and louis made this so enjoyable. they are the perfect instructors, walk you through step by step and explain why you’re doing what you’re doing. the pastéis de nata were delicious!
Such a lovely experience. Organised and carried out wonderfully. Guides were so informative and welcoming and it was a real highlight of our trip. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting to try something different and to learn and experience a true part of Porto!
Fun cooking class! Guide walked us through step by step and sent us home with the recipe. Easy to follow and delicious!
Great teachers - so much fun. And delicious!! Hands on experience and good opportunity to meet other travelers.
This was a fantastic experience. I highly recommend this to anyone spending time in Porto and wanting a hands on experience of its culture. We had a lovely guide who explained everything thoroughly. Domus arte is a very well run family business; as such, it treats you like part of the team in this experience.
We had an amazing time learning to make this famous recipe! All the instructors were extraordinary and very patient with us non bakers! Definitely a highlight of our time in Porto!
Great cooking class - plenty space- good pace of learning and humorous Good value for cost - good location
Great experience, all staff were very welcoming. Highly recommend the experience.
We loved our bakery masterclass. Great fun to do as a family activity with two teenagers and even better that we got to take away our sweet treats. They tasted amazing.
Energetic, fun, we learned to make Pastel de nata, and was offered great team members, a wonderful teacher and good Port wine!

Luis was our guide for this trip and we had a lovely experience - enduring 1 of the group was thoroughly catered for with a GF experience. Alongside baking delicious Tarts he gave us several recommendations that made our trip all he more enjoyable.
We really enjoyed this class. The size was perfect for interaction and engagement--only about 8 or us. The instructors were fun and informative. And the results were delicious!

Really great workshop. Friendly, knowledgeable hosts, very well organised. Would definitely recommend — was a highlight of our weekend in Porto.
Fantastic thing to do in Porto. Teresa & Maria make a great team and make the course so enjoyable. We would definitely recommend
My daughter and I had a wonderful time at this cooking class! It was fun, engaging, and a great opportunity to meet some really nice people. Our instructors, Luis and Ana, were awesome and made the experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommend!
Great hands-on experience! Friendly and helpful staff. Learn something new, meet new people, and you really can't get pastel de nata any fresher. They are even better fresh!
Wonderful experience. Our instructor was super informative and made it a fun class. We got to take home/eat 3 pastel de natas. It was held in an up and coming type of art studio and it was nice to look around at local artists works afterwards and to purchase these items. Overall great experience.
Fun way to meet other travelers and learn about the pastry. The instructors also gave wonderful local recommendations.
It’s fun to work with small groups & learn how to make this traditional Portuguese dessert. The instructors are very nice, intense & passionate about their work.
I loved the experience especially being a long side my daughter. The teachers let us be hands on and explained step by step. Then we got to taste it and they came out wonderful.
The ambiance is quaint, the instructor is very knowledgeable and kind, everybody contributes a little bit to making the dish. At times it was slow sitting & watching.
My family had the most fun time learning to make Pastel de Nata! The staff was super friendly and informative as they taught us about the techniques and history of making these delicious Portuguese treats! I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Porto!
Everyone got a part in making the custard and we all got to make 3 pastel de natas each. Knowledgeable instructors and positive energy, great experience overall.
We had a great morning making Pastéis de Nata! Luiz and Rui were excellent, both really funny and made the whole experience very relaxed and enjoyable. We learnt quite a bit about the history of the pastries as well as how to make them, which was really interesting. The class was good fun from start to finish, with plenty of laughs along the way. The Porto wine was a nice touch and our finished pastries were absolutely delicious! Really pleased we booked this and would thoroughly recommend it if you’re visiting Porto.
Our class with Henrique was great. There were 4 of us and he made sure we took turns preparing the natas, which were absolutely delicious! Highly recommend Domus Arte for the pastel class as well as their painting classes.
Great time cooking pastel de nata! Super great staff, all around enjoyable, must try! Tables of 4 or 5, great for groups or solo!
Rui and Louis were delightful and catered for my gluten free dietary requirement. Delivery was lighthearted and fun. It was hands on for all participants.
My daughter and I took this class just to see how you make the famous Portuguese Pastéis de Nata. We had so much fun. It was a great experience and the teachers, Luis and Rui, were so much fun and so nice! Highly recommend them!
A great experience learning how to cook from scratch pastel de nata. The staff were experienced, helpful and informative - a real pleasure to have them train the group. Only 6 per table which meant that we could all be involved in the shared aspects of the cook. Everything went well and the kitchen was well equipped. The recipe was a winner too!
Enjoyable workshop learning about and how to make Pastel de natas. Sofia was very knowledgeable and an excellent teacher
This was such a fun workshop, we all too turns participating in the preparation of making the Nata. Rui was a great teacher and very knowledgeable about the history of the pastel de Nata. And as a bonus he also spoke about how to take care of your pastel de Nata tins.
The staff and teachers/instructors were very friendly and their English was easy to understand. The group wasn't too large, everyone was able to participate and the instructors made sure we were all involved. Kitchen was air-conditioned and very clean with plenty of space to store bag/backpack whilst cooking. The tarts were delicious and we were given a copy of the recipe to take home. Great way to spend the morning.
It was nice and everybody was friendly but I thought everybody was gonna be able to do all the steps, not take turns and spend half the class looking at others doing some of the steps.
Great fun! And yummy treats! So glad we did this excursion! Everyone in our group of 6 participated and had a blast.
This was a different kind of excursion for my husband and I and it would normally be more my type of activity than his. I like the idea of connecting with local culture and since Pastel de nada is the famed pastry of Portugal, we felt it offered a small connection to that culture. The class was a lot of fun and our instructors were great at making sure everybody took part in making the pastries. We each made three pastries. Enough to try one while we were there and to take a couple back with us along with the recipes. My husband who does no cooking at all enjoyed the class as well. I would recommend this class to anyone. Did I mention that our end results were delicious??
Such a fun time making the Pastel da Nata. Two great chefs giving you the history of the Portuguese tarts, and wonderful hands on directions. Eating the finished product was delicious! Would highly recommend!
Such a fun experience. Would definitely recommend. The desserts were very yummy and the teacher was very knowledgeable
Run and Anna did a fabulous job. Excellent experience. Comfortable setting. Cute, quiet setting just off the beaten path but easy to find.
