Porto: Exclusive Tour In A Vintage Vw Kombi With An Open Roof

My friend and I surprised our VW obsessed husband's with this excursion and it was amazing especially if you are VW lovers. Hugo was so knowledgeable not only VW's, but also Porto and the surrounding areas. He took us to places in Porto that were off the normal beaten pass.

Our family truly enjoyed the guided tour. We were able experience Porto throughly via the VW bus tour. We were able to see spots we would have never known about. It was especially special as my brother and I were traveling with elderly parents in their 80s. Our tour guide Hugo was excellent. He gave us backdrop or historic info on different sites we stopped at and was very helpful in giving us info on where we could get most out of our trip. Your guide is a local so that really makes a difference. I would strongly recommend to individuals or families.

Our family was recently in Porto on a multi country vacation. Of all of the experiences we had while traveling our experience with Hugo was one of the best. First, his classic VW Kombi provided the perfect means to get around the city in a fun and unique way. But Hugo himself was the real star. The best way to get to know a city is with a local who knows the area, and Hugo is exactly that. He not only showed us recognizable landmarks, he took us to several hidden treasures, gave us ideas where to eat and shop, and even took us to sample a local treat. The whole experience felt like hanging out with an old friend. I would recommend this experience with Hugo and his Kombi without hesitation, and if we're ever back to Porto we'll be sure to give Hugo a call.

My sister organised this tour for my birthday, as I love VW Combis. And I am so delighted she did! We, along with 4 friends, thoroughly enjoyed it. Hugo made the trip so fun and enjoyable, and showed us some lesser known sights of Porto.. including a trip to the beach with beautiful Pastel de Nata. It really is a lovely way to see the sights, with a friendly guide in his beautiful VW combi. I would highly recommend it.

Our private tour with Hugo from Let’s Kombi was the perfect way to begin our five days in Porto. From the moment we climbed into the vintage Kombi, we knew we were in for something special. The vehicle itself was incredibly fun — honestly, the only upgrade might have been if it were the Batmobile. Over the course of just more than two hours, Hugo guided our family of five through Porto’s beautiful streets and stunning viewpoints, sharing fascinating history, local insight, and plenty of humor along the way. His love for Porto is obvious, and his fluent English made the experience easy and enjoyable for all of us. One of the funniest parts of the tour was that while we were busy taking photos of Porto, other tourists were stopping to take photos of us in the Kombi. It definitely added to the experience and made the tour feel even more unique. Absolutely the best guide we have ever had…. and we have had many excellent guides! Hugo exceeded all expectations. He is charming, knowledgeable and entertaining. He knows Porto and Portugal’s history like the back of his hand. The tour, held in a comfortable restored VW Kombi Bus, gave everyone a window seat while allowing everyone to hear clearly (in two-way conversation, without headphones or speakers) his valuable narrative. You will feel like Hugo is your long-time friend. You won’t want the tour to end. Without exception, the best touring experience we have ever had.

I booked Hugo’s Porto tour in his Kombi VW van based on his 5 star reviews and it did not disappoint. Don’t hesitate to book his extended 4+ hour tour of Porto. I thought both my two boys (11 and 13) and my 82 year old dad would get a kick out of the VW van. We all ended up befriending Hugo (especially my father - oh boy he and Hugo sure did chat about VWs and classic cars while my dad rode shotgun). We all thoroughly enjoyed our trip to some hidden places in Porto. The trip ended with a great lunch on the Duoro River at a local restaurant. We enjoyed it so much we booked him a second day for his Douro Valley wine tour. That was an amazing day. Two wineries hand picked by Hugo that entertained the whole family, a Portuguese feast for lunch, amazing views, great wine, and a cool short boat ride. His driving skills were put to the test in both Porto and Douro and I was so glad to have him behind the wheel. We appreciated his driving skills and personal attention and insider knowledge so much that we asked if he’d consider creating a van tour of the Galicia region of Spain just over the border. Let me tell you - Hugo picked some beautiful spots for the Galicia trip including an amazing waterfront seafood lunch. We otherwise would have rented a car and wouldn’t have been able to enjoy our one day in Spain as much as we’d were with Hugo leading the way. We had a great trip with Hugo as a family of six. Hugo was friendly with a good sense of humour, and was great fun to spend time with. He was very knowledgeable and informative about the sights which was interesting. He also shred his knowledge on local restaurants and eateries along the route, and took us for the best pastal de natas. There were some beautiful sights in the tour route and it was fun driving down all the narrow streets in the camper van. Thank you Hugo!

Our family of 5 went with Hugo for a 2 hour tour around Porto in his VW Kombi that was 60 years old!! He was so kind, very communicative when he ran late because of car problems, he picked us up at the hotel even though the website said our hotel was outside the pickup zone. He also dropped us off at the hotel, we appreciated this so much esp because it was raining off and on all day. He shared a lot of history about various buildings, even while driving and navigating the narrow hilly streets. He also treated us to delicious custard tarts and port wine as well. It was a wonderful trip thankful we found his trip.

It's a great way to see Porto. The VW van can go places a regular bus cannot. The van is alot of fun. Hugo, owner/guide is wonderful. He really knows Porto. Highly recommend.

What a fun and fantastic way to explore Porto!! Hugo is such a character, bringing Porto to life with his stories & witty humor. The Volkswagen is super comfy & spacious, he's done a great job with his vehicle! Plus he's an incredible driver, some of the narrow roads he navigated through were blowing my mind! The rooftop was open the whole ride so you get a great breeze and an amazing view of all the buildings passing by. He even took us out to another part of town that felt very unique, it was cool to see both the main highlights and other parts of town. Can't recommend this tour enough, book it you won't regret it!!

This is my second tour. Great introduction to the amazing City of Porto. Hugo is a master of the road with a manual transmission! He’s very informative and has a background in art restoration as well as Volkswagens!

Our guide, Hugo, was an excellent resource for teaching us the history of Porto and showing us the various parts of the city. He has a rich sense of the city history and his love for the area comes across in his presentation. He picked us up from our cruise port and dropped us at a local restaurant that he recommended for lunch before we took an Uber back for our sailing. His vintage VW Kombi was able to go to areas where a modern automobile cannot. This vehicle was well maintained and drew looks of admiration from many of the people we passed. For my children and I, meeting Hugo and touring with him has been the highlight of a very satisfying holiday. Highly recommended. Will book again with him for Duoro valley tour if we are to return to Porto.

Our experience with Hugo today was wonderful. We took the two-hour Porto city tour this morning, and it was everything we'd hoped. Hugo knows the city streets inside and out, and he navigates the narrow streets with ease. His classic VW is so clean and well kept. It is obvious that these classic beauties are a labor of love for Higo. He took us to see beautiful viewpoints from the beach to the city.... and he even stopped to get us amazing pastel de nata pastries from a local bakery. Hugo is charming and funny -- a great guy and guide. He took wonderful photos of us along the way and shared them with us after the tour (and he also gave us great restaurant recommendations!). You will not regret booking any tour with Hugo.

This trip was perfect and Pedro was a great guide. We’ve been travelling for over a week so this trip was at the right pace for us as my children were tired from all the walking. Everywhere we went, we had appreciative glances at the kombi. The tour itself was informative and there were amazing sites. To top it off Pedro got us the most amazing Pastei da nadas!
