A memorable day where my wife and I walked through the impressive museum and history of the facility followed by a tasting in the beautiful courtyard area afterwards. If our timing had been better we would have stayed longer and enjoyed some food as well. Paulo Ramos was our host at the tasting and he was good fun - knowledgeable with a sense of humour.

We did an afternoon tour, self guided and although lots to see was rather boring. We had done the Graham tour the day before and was great. Too bad as the mill is actually more interesting at Taylor's. If you dont mind self guided thru ur phone it good. The wine tasting itself was not great, very very limited information about what your are tasting. We walked up, very steep and took a tuktuk back.
Whilst this is a spectacular building we were surprised and disapointed by the restaurant. We asked for stasting experience and ordered food. All plonked down on our table. We sat in beautiful courtyard in the sunshine which was won. However, no one checked on us or offered any further drinkes etc. Invoice was given to us with food. On leaving to pay we were aksed for a tip. We said we didnt want to.give one as we didnt feel anyone actually deserved it, but we were told that wasnt possible. This wasnt a cheap experience and the hospitality was really poor. Would not recommend.
Overall we were very disappointed with this tour. The audio guide was terrible. We kept losing the WiFi connection which was maddening. Also the audio guide segments were way too long and boring. Halfway through we found a movie that summarized everything perfectly in a fraction of the time. I would skip to this and then do the port tasting. On the positive side, the property was beautiful and the port wine tasting in the garden was lovely.
We really enjoyed this self guided tour. It was informative and good value for money. We especially enjoyed the Port wine tasting in the setting of the beautiful garden and terrace. We were expertly looked after by Pedro Alves who was friendly, charming and knowledgeable. He makes a wicked cocktail too.
Booked as an add on with the highly recommended WOW experience and well worth doing. You can add the audio guide on to your phone and/or follow the route with panels giving great information on the history of Taylors and how where the port is made. And then great finale with a ports to taste at the end (food can be brought separately)
The tour itself was one of the least interactive and uninteresting experiences of my life. If I had one hour left to live, I'd spend it doing this tour because it felt like a lifetime. The chap that took us through the tasting though was excellent, very knowledgeable and engaging
The Taylor cellar visit & wine tasting was great! The facility is beautiful and has incredible views. Mari was our waitress and was outstanding! A great experience!
Classic exceptional port House, one of the greats self guided tour a walk down history Afterwards, the tastings of five different ports was very professionally done and brilliant. You could not ask for another better tasting.
This was really good value. The caves were great as was the audio. Then we went for wine tasting. 3 glasses of port and we bought a a cheeseboard (which was enough to share between 4) and do think there should be some white chocolate on the cheeseboard as it brings out the white port! Luckily, I had some in my bag. 🫣
This was an audio tour with tasting. We ended up skipping a lot of the longer audio segments because they were a bit hard to follow. The tasting garden was pretty but not very personal. They really just pump you through. I’d opt for a smaller port house if we did it again.
Bring your AirPods / headphones. This is a self guided audio tour which uses your phone. They should advertise this so you come prepared. Beware the reception staff. They are a cross between security guards and check in staff. They are not very welcoming. Once you get past this duo things are great. The tour is informative and the three ports you try at the end along with an option to buy some accompanying nibbles (which are great) are excellent. The staff at the tasting room are very friendly and helpful. The reception staff should take their introduction course given they are the face of the company. All that said, I would certainly recommend this tour. Just bring AirPods.
All good easy your tasting on patio area, very good
Very interesting tour. The port tasting was good fun with our sommelier. Very interesting talk and a lovely chap.
Taylor's port is lovely and the patio was nice, but service for the tasting was very poor. We waited 45 minutes, with 4 other tables near us. Our server was annoyed to serve that section because someone else should have been doing it. We ordered an extra glass of wine and chrese board that advertised cheese, crostini and grapes. The cheese and crostini were okay, but we received only one grape cut in half! By the time the food and extra glass finally came, they were rushing us to finish and get out because they were closing. Poor value for money. I would find another patio to try different wines and have a snack. The tour is downloaded audio on your own phone - bring headphones, and if you are a couple download on your own devices so you can hear instead of repeating. We would not recommend.
This is a wonderful, very compressive self-guided tour. The story behind the origins of the company, the viticulture, harvesting, bottling and aging is fascinating. The tasting included with the tour was fabulous, with generous pours, set on a lovely patio. You can order food too if you like. Please note that if you are walking up to the site, it’s fairly steep.
Lovely self guided tour - very informative and very pretty garden to do the port tasting. We just walked in without prior reservations fairly early. Bought some port and their olive oil from the shop. Very happy with the experience.
Great overview of Taylor history and port varieties: ruby, tawny, vintage, chip dry. Mari was excellent. Tasting was wonderful.
We've been on the tour before and just was looking for a beautiful space for a glass of port and some snacks. Pedro-who we remembered from last year- was incredibly helpful with his recommendations and service.
The tasting was very nice because Paulo Ramos was very patient and explained really well each wine.
The whole tour was excrutiatingly boring, telling us the whole history of the business and showing us the wine-making process. Not really interactive and maybe interesting if you're really passionate about the process. Otherwise if you're just curious I would not recommend it. The wine tasting part was good and we had a really good service thanks to Paulo Ramos.
You need headphones to follow the tour. Experience was really good and they don’t rush you during the port tasting which is great!
Very complete and good quality audio tour. We just walked up to the cellars and booked right there, waited for 40 min and we took about an hour. Mari at the reception desk was very friendly and helpful. The tasting afterwards was lovely in a shady garden with individual tables. Highly recommend.
Good experience, informative friendly staff Thankyou Mari for your help, great to sample the different ports at the end
Got there was told to download a audio recording the wifi wasnt working the staff were rude and unhelpful one of them even slammed a door on my pregnant wifes face on purpose
Great value. Self guided tour. Port tasting at the end with bites to purchase in the gardens fabulous
The receptionist welcoming us in was lovely however, we found the audio-guide experience (downloaded via QR onto your phone) quite dull and impersonal plus it kept stalling. The information given was detailed however most of it was linked to uninspiringly presented exhibits. The barrels and vats area was better. For us, the visit was redeemed by the actual tasting experience which was super. 3 ports in a beautiful environment (choice of indoor or outdoor), tastefully presented and expertly explained. Would we recommend to family visiting next year? Sadly not, we’d suggest investigating one of the other port houses.
Mari was very knowledgeable about the port making process and shared lots of information. The tour of the barrel room was very fun and the tasting was delicious.
Mari was really informative but kept the pace up. Excellent!
Excellent interesting informative. So pleasant. Beautiful setting.
One of the best experiences of our trip to Porto. The port selections for tasting are outstanding. I chose the Intro set of four and enjoyed every one of them. My husband drank the Chip Dry exclusively and loved it so much he bought a small bottle. The food menu complements the drink menu. Their codcakes are exquisite. I also had an amazing Negroni. I concoct drinks for my vidcast on YouTube and will be featuring this on my return from holiday.
Good experience go at your own pace
The experience is terrible as the first impression with your receptionist is really bad, she had absolutely no smile and seems to reject visitors. Nothing is pleasant from her except roughly and repeatedly saying No No. She is not fit for welcoming customers.
Very interesting your and finishes in beautiful garden with lots of port tasting . Worth the walk up the hill
We spent the day in Porto and had reserved the tour online the night before. The tour was great, however, the narration often stopped and then had to be restarted. That was the only downside. Taylor’s just needs to get the technology updated. As a seasoned port drinker, the tasting at the end of the self guided tour was fantastic. We paid extra for additional flights…well worth it. A special thank you and well done to Osweldy who was our “tasting tour guide”. Her knowledge was superb and her ability to answer questions was excellent. She is a real “find” for Taylor’s. Well done to her and the rest of the staff.
Lovely visit and informative tour. The audio guide was easy to follow and quite dense in information. Mari served us 3 port wines and explained them to us wonderfully. Great experience.
Great informative tour, and our server Antonio was very helpful providing my partner with gluten free options to accompany the port tasting. We learned a lot and had a great time, thankyou!
We arrived at the time we had booked expecting a guided tour. Obviously this no longer happens. That wasn’t a problem as they gave us handsets to listen to the commentary. Unfortunately they also allow people to listen to the same audio on their phones. Again this shouldn’t be a problem but, various nationalities, mainly couples decided to share a phone and listen on speaker! This made it very difficult for us to listen and concentrate on all the information provided. Obviously not totally the fault of Taylors, and we mainly enjoyed visiting, especially the final tasting in a wonderful setting. We explained our concerns to reception after and they said that they would pass on our concerns. They should either insist on ear plugs when using their own phones or provide handsets for everyone. Overall enjoyable but maybe some of the other Port tours are better?
Wonderful. Recommended. THX Antonio.
We had a wonderful experience at Taylor’s Cellars, and a special mention goes to Paulo, who made the Port wine tasting truly enjoyable. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and explained the different Port wines in a clear and engaging way. His passion for the wines and the history behind them really came through, making the experience both informative and memorable. Thank you, Paulo, for such a fantastic tasting experience!
All round fabulous experience - Paulo is an absolute legend and definitely enhanced the experience.
The Portwein was delicious. Paulo Ramos was the best.
Walking through winery was very interesting and informative. The wine tasting was good. Three choices were excellent examples. Paulo Ramos gave a good explanation of each wine and took his time giving food pairing examples for each one.
Amazing self guided tour of the facility. It’s nice because you get to take it at your own pace. The tasting at the end is the best part of course. We had the waiter/sommelier Paulo that made the experience that much better. Very knowledgeable, charismatic, funny, and has a passion for Port. Thank you for the wonderful day.
Excellent experience and very informative and professional, I would recommend to anyone interested in Port Wine , Mari provided a wonderful wine tasting and the environment was perfect for a relaxing Saturday
Very interesting visit. The audio guide is well made, ideally use your own earphones to make the experience nicer. Price is ok, I don’t feel spoiled. We spent 1,5 hour for the visit, and after that we had the tasting in the very pleasant garden. Mari was very helpful with her explanations.
Of all the options to visit a port tour we settled on Taylor's. It was a mixed visit. Loved the wine tasting and the garden. The audio was hit and miss and kept dropping out. I would not say a visit is a must but it was ok. Having said that, I'm going to buy a bottle of their ruby port when I get home and make their bramble cocktail.
Although this is a bit of a walk from the riverfront , a visit here is totally with it. The self guided tour allows for you to go at your own pace & gives you a fascinating insight into the history & culture of port wine. The tasting takes place in a beautiful garden & there are plenty of add on options if you wish . An elevated experience not to be missed.
We had a really nice time walking round the museum followed by wine tasting in the amazing garden. The wine and snacks were great.
The experience was great. The wine tasting towards the end was lovely. Staff was nice. Thanks Mari for explaining the wine to us we really enjoyed it :)
