This private tour was excellent. Our tour guide Fernando was so informative and entertaining! He truly gave us a local experience! Traditional food plus history. His own personal experience and family history in Porto gave the tour a personal touch. And the food was great!

This was the best tour we have ever taken, Andre did an amazing job! We learned all about Porto and Portugal and had some excellent food along the way.
Our guide was very personable and informative about the culture and history of Portugal. We love to try new things and he would always check to make sure that we were ok with something before he ordered. All of the vendors were kind and full of knowledge about their product. We went to the market and a small restaurant and finished at a cafe with egg custard and espresso. I would love to have him as a tour guide again
We enjoyed the tour with Andre. We tried several items that we might not have tried otherwise. Learned about the city as we were walking around. Great way to start the trip.
Amazing experience with Vera! Very authentic and easygoing. She was a joy to be around and showed us parts of the city we would have never known about without her guidance!
Maria was an incredible guide! The food was great and she shared the history of Porto which helped us understand the area more.
Great way to spend an afternoon happily walking the city and trying new food! We had a wonderful time.
What a wonderful 3 1/2 hours spent learning about Porto and the best food options... and not just the touristy ones! The ones the locals love! Joao was wonderful. On time, easy to talk with and will customize the tour based on your likes and/or food aversions. We had none, so we ate it all! Yum! Highly recommend.
Vera was knowledgable, personable and provided a relaxed and interesting tour to include many local foods and wines - would highly recommend
We had a wonderful tour with Vera yesterday. Her love of Porto and Portugal really showed! She fit our family’s energetic dynamics perfectly and we really enjoyed her food choices and insight! We definitely tried some foods we wouldn’t have on our own. Who knew we would enjoy barnacles so much? We are headed back to get our tinned fish and delicious chocolates today. Porto is a beautiful city and we would love to come back in the future
We had the most amazing time on our food tour. Our tour guide Silvia was fantastic. She was very friendly and made the day so fun and informative. We got to try some beautiful Portuguese food and wine. The 3 hours just flew by.
Was a perfect way to see Porto and get a taste of the city and the rich culture and history. So not miss the market
We like to book food tours when visiting a new country especially with a local guide. This tour did not disappoint! We walked all around Porto learning about the culture and history all while stopping to taste the best food and drinks the city has to offer. We visited the market and tried local cheese (with a dollop of homemade jam from a paint tube;)) and green wine, then on to a "FC Porto" supporters bar for a charcuterie plate with cod cakes and rosé and lastly a stop for the best pork sandwich I've ever had!
This was an incredible experience especially if you are looking for what and where the locals eat. Jorge was an incredible guide and took us to some of his favorite places (which were our favorites too!). He provided some history, contemporary and useful guidance and tailored our experience to our preferences. Highly recommended.
Thanks to Mayumi for the best food tour ever. We appreciated her passion for the Portuguese culture and specialty foods.
Vera made the day so much fun for me. We tried so much delicious food and drink and also enjoyed a lot of laughter. Her knowledge of the community and relationships with its people made it extra special.
We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would recommend the tour. Andre was laid back with a good sense of humour. He was informative and kept us amused. The variety of food and places we visited was great.
Ana was wonderful. She took us to several hidden gems and not only helped us try some great local dishes but also took us to stores to buy cheeses to have while we went to a wine house. She adapted our itinerary as she learned what we liked. She has a deep understanding of Porto history that was as interesting as the food. She was a joy.
Great tour to introduce yourself to Porto and try local food spots. Highly recommend booking this tour and learning about the city & it's food.
We met with Jorge our guide who took us on a three hour walking tour of Porto. Not only did he take us to the best places for local food, but was also an engagement conversation list. We had wonderful cheese, Vino Verde carpaccio and tasted wonderful olive oil at the market. He took us to a wonderful place Le espresso for a wonderful local pork and cheese sandwich and wonderful cabbage/potato soup and our evening with pork wine and PASTEIS.. wonderful afternoon and evening.
Mayumi was amazing! The food was great. The wine was great. Mayumi was very knowledgeable and explained everything to us. The food and wine pairings were on point. Strongly recommend!!
Mayumi made this experience very special. We had wonderful wine that was not served at the restaurants we went to. Our food was better than our Michelin star restaurant we went to later. Simply a joyous walk filled with food, wine, and laughter.
Expect to eat and what the locals eat and drink. Recommend as a must do when in Porto. No better way to get in tune with local culture than eating local food with knowledgeable locals as a guide.
Very nice tour, personable guide. Got a taste of Porto, visiting places we likely would have overlooked on our own
Very interesting historical perspective. Our guide was very knowledgeable good natured and accommodating.
Teresa was fantastic! We had a great time. Highly recommended. Very personable and knowledgeable about the city.
Our tour guide, Joao, was great so the rating is not a reflection of him, his local knowledge or passion for Porto. He even sent us additional recommendations after for us to experience ourselves, which we really appreciated! The food itself was pretty good, but for the money, we were expecting more. We made a total of 4 stops over 3 hours and while we got to experience a variety of Porto cuisine, we think this experience is way overpriced and should be half of what it currently costs. You could book a multi-course, pre-fixed menu at very nice restaurants in Porto for the price you pay for this. Lastly, a lot of the spots we went were more touristy than we would have liked. We were looking for an off the beaten path type of experience, but that could be our misunderstanding of the tour itself. If not for our tour guide we would have given this one star due to the money spent for what you actually get.
This was easily one of the best food tours I’ve taken in many years. The host was knowledgeable, friendly, and had amazing taste. His connection with local shop keepers made the tour enjoyable and easy. Would recommend!
Excellent way to see the city from a local point of view . Food options are varied and interesting. Recommend to everyone
Helena is an absolute gem and took us to both historical food stores as well as the modern market. So extremely well thought out and we have made a new friend.
Arrived at meeting point 15min early and tour guide never showed up. Viator tried reaching out to guide who never responded to them either. Ended up with half day wasted due to no show guide.
Mayumi was a ton of fun and really knew her stuff. She also had great relationships with all the places we stopped at and had really good tips for after the tour
We had an amazing afternoon with Maria, who as a chef, native, and sommelier absolutely knew everything and everyone. We sampled an array of local dishes from Jesuit pastries to sardines to vino verde and just about every Porto specialty in between! Seeing the local grocery (and sampling Romeo and Juliet, aka cheese and quince jam) was a highlight. She shared her enthusiasm and knowledge of food and wine, as well of Porto and Portugal. For us, it was a final outing before departing Portugal and left us “hungry”—figuratively but definitely not literally—for more of this charming country! Highly recommend Maria to anyone interested in Portuguese cuisine and wine (including Port)!
We booked this tour many months in advance. We received an email from the tour operator the day before our tour was scheduled to advise us that our tour is cancelled. No explanation was given. I emailed them to ask if there was a different guide available and we received no response. While we understand that tours get cancelled, it was very unprofessional to ignore my email and not to explain the reason for cancelling. I went back onto Viator to see if the tour was still available and they were still booking tours for the next day which makes no sense. Why is my tour cancelled and they are accepting new reservations for the same timeframe? Very disappointed as this was to the the highlight of our trip.
Highly recommend this tour. Our guide was very knowledge and you can tell she loves giving this tour. She knew all cool local spots and vendors. We even had a private tasting room at one of the stops. Come hungry!
Joao was our tour guide. And was very nice. We had to queue at the first place and then had a pork sandwich that had a little bit of spice. It was very good. We were offered something to drink (beer, wine or a nonalcoholic beverage). Then we walked a bit to another place and had a cod croquet with cheese inside and then 1/2 pork sandwich with cheese on it this time & water or soda. Our last stop was almost back to where we were for the first stop but at a coffee shop where we could get a coffee or water and a pastel de nada. This was suppose to be a 10 tasting food tour and even counting the drinks at each stop came up short. Aldo not sure why we had just pork sandwiches at 2 different stops. We also did a lot of walking around but didn’t really see anything or learn anything about the areas we were in. The tour did not match the description that we purchased. I've been on several food tours and this one was lacking.
Mayumi was amazing & very knowledgeable. If we could give her an 11 out of 10 we would! Anyone will enjoy their experience with her!
Clara was so much fun. This was the perfect way to see Porto and taste some of the local cuisine. Would highly recommend.
Antonio did a fabulous job describing the history of Porto! He knew the city so well. We tried some amazing pastries and the best pastel de nata in all of Portugal. We were able to take some great pictures along the tour. Cheers to Antonio!
Our guide, Mayumi, was the absolute best! Great combination of history and delicious local Portuguese food and wine.
Vetta was a wonderful guide. We tasted so much of the local food and drink. Amazing tour and made our day so much fun!
We have a fantastic time on the 10 tastings of Porto tour with Vera. She was knowledgeable, fun, easy going and her English is perfect. We ate and drank lots of lovely local things in small, family run stores. Vera is like a local celebrity and we were always welcomed with open arms alongside her. Would definitely recommend
Amazing tour guide who was incredibly knowledgeable, energetic, and thorough. Tour guide was also very flexible with some changes in plan and incredibly gracious. 10/10
Our tour guide cancelled on us 40 minutes before our scheduled tour. It was our last day in Porto so it was very disappointing. The tour company did not supply a replacement.
I always say "food is the best way to a countries heart" this tour was nothing but the best, Helena was super friendly, energetic and motherly.(I will explained what I mean about this) The tour began learning some history of Portugal and walking on one of the street known for its shopping amount locals. We visited our 1st stop where we got to try a robust flavor of tuna and sardine from a tin. And yes I can see most asking ew from a tin. But this were no ordinary tuna and sardines. They are soaked in olive oil and other herbs. Truly amazing taste, with a side of white wine. HELENA asked if we ate sardines before and if we were ok with the bones. My wife was wiery about it but Helena even offered to debone them for us cause she use to do thay for her kids (motherly) We got to explore tomorrow of the city and made our way to try PORTUGALS cheese at the Bolhao market. To then try some pastel de nata and finally the cachorrinhos. Super delicious!!! I would definitely recommend this tour with Helena !!
Overall great private food tour of Porto. Helena wanted to know our likes and dislikes so she could create a customized food tour. Being just my wife and me it made it very personalized and a lot of fun. Helena is well known among the businesses and vendors and knows not only the history but where to get the best tastings. She was born in Porto so is a local.
We booked our food tour with Miguel for the evening we arrived in Porto! We were a little tired but quickly forgot about it as the tour started! Every stop was interesting & delicious! We loved learning about the culture around the foods, the history around the different dishes and experiencing the different local restaurants and markets. Miguel was so much fun and kept the tour moving along! It was truly the perfect way to start our vacation!
Vera really knew her food and wine! She confidently walked us around the local streets, visiting market stalls, small shops, cafes, and even a pub with local vendors. We tried many delicacies, had fun with new tastes and we chatted about everything food related from Portugal along the way. It was an excellent experience from a fantastic guide. Highly recommended.
Mayumi was amazing!!! Her love of Porto & its history & food was infectious. We had such a wonderful experience with her. She tailored it to our likes & tastes. I couldn’t recommend this tour more! 10 stars.
We greatly enjoyed out Tastings of Porto with our guide Fernando (from WithLocals). He helped us understand the historical changes that have occurred here in Porto. As a result, we had a deeper appreciation for the various foods we got to sample and the regions where some of the foods had came from. Fernando shared his memories of Porto from when he was young and how things have changed even within his lifetime. We would highly recommend this tour with Fernando. He is passionate about Porto and provides a food tasting experience that is unforgettable.
