We booked for the tour and tasting in Smithers Room, with super premium port wines and pairings. The port lodge is situated in Gaia which took around 40 minutes to walk from our accommodation in Porto. We enjoyed the walk, crossing the Dom Luis bridge, but google maps will be your friend when it comes to steps and winding streets of Gaia. The walk was no problem, but the lodge is situated on top of a steep hill- meaning we were ready for a port cocktail when we arrived. The terrace was quiet and we arrived in good time, so we could use the bar facilities, explore the shop and museum before our tour started. Our tour lasted 45 minutes, it was very informative and great to be shown around properly and ask questions. The tasting was great, we were talked through each port wine and pairing, to ensure everyone got the most of the experience. Our guide spoke with us after and made some great recommendations for lunch in Gaia and Porto- we were very appreciative of everyone’s friendliness.

Wonderful experience! We did the guided tour of the cellar followed by the classic Port tasting and the Port‑and‑chocolate pairing. Our guide, who spoke excellent Italian, was truly great at explaining everything — he knew how to lead us through the visit, keep us engaged, and even advise us on what to buy afterward. I absolutely recommend it.
We had a great tour with our guide Violeta! She has a great energy and knowledge and passion about the wine! We had an amazing experience with this lovely person walking through wine caves and tasting different varieties of Porto wines! Totally recommend this tour! Greetings from Tenerife 🤗
The tour of the Cockburn lodge was great!!!! It was our first tour of a Port wine lodge and we were not dissapointed. The tour lasts for about one hour and it goes by very quick. The tour was well organized and extremely educational about the production of Port Wine. Also, the Port tasting at the end is great as well. Highly recommend this tour!!!
We missed the tour (too early for 5.30pm) but from the minute we arrived outside the door - the staff were so friendly totally un-pushy and so knowledgeable. We had the Premium Flight 3 glasses to taste at €20 and the bar man Mateus Lina was just lovely. Highly recommend. And B corp certified - top class. @BCORP
Took the 90 minute tour including a tasting. Our guide, Manuel was very engaging and extremely knowledgeable. We learned a great deal about port and the history of the Cockburn brand. We finished off with the tasting, three very different port wines, paired with an appropriate chocolate truffle. The wines and the chocolates were outstanding
Good news, there are no restrictions on photography. Found the whole tour extremely interesting from start to finish. The host explained about the function of the different vats, The process of decanting from one to another and the reasons behind it. The coopers finish at 5pm so if you would like to watch them in action book you tour earlier. We were only able to see their workplace and hear about the dying skills! After the tour there were 3 glasses waiting to be tried complete with complimentary chocolate. No hard sell in the shop ant the end, in fact we decided to go back the next day to browse after making space in the car.
Excellent tour of the cellars and tasting. Our guide was engaging and knowledgeable, we learnt a great deal about not only the history but also how it’s made. The port tasting was generous and illuminating. Worth going along.
Nice visit to the winery with a good guide who spoke Italian and tasting of excellent port with excellent food and chocolate pairings
Unique experience to do absolutely, even if you are abstained, the scent of the cellar will accompany you throughout the visit
After the visit and the tasting we complimented personally with our guide for the impeccable Italian, for the sympathy and competence.
Very interesting - very good Italian guide, nice and prepared - We had to opt for the standard tasting as there is no one with aperitif
Technical visit in Italian. Very thorough and fulfilling. Excellent tastings (super premium tasting+aged tawny testing) at a price around 100euro. Particularly appreciated Cockburn's 20 years old tawny. I recommend it.
Amazing visit to the winery. Manuel was a very good guide and taught us everything with a lot of love. We took the visit with wine and chocolate tasting and it was a success!!
We chose the classic tasting in this cellar x the tour in Italian, Felipe excellent guide Ke with sympathy and deep passion and expertise made us discover the secrets of the world of production of Port Cockburn's in a tour that lasted abundantly more than an hour. ULTRA RECOMMENDED!!
Particularly interesting visit both x the cellar and x the explanations and availability of the Guide who accompanied us.
Beautiful visit of the cellars. The Guide, in Italian, very competent and pleasant. Even the tasting was well explained and in the end they also helped with the choice of wines to be shipped.
All very nice and interesting, great cheeses. The visit lasted about an hour and a half. Must do when you are in Porto.
