Very good experience and nice wine. I went to this guided visit with my wife and we loved it. I recommend it 100%
Excellent visit from start to finish. The guided tour of the cellars was fascinating, you get a real sense of the history behind the house and how Port is actually made and the tasting of three different Port wines afterwards was the perfect finish. Each one was introduced properly, so it felt like a genuine tasting rather than just a quick glass. Friendly, knowledgeable staff and a relaxed pace with no feeling of being rushed. Great value, and a lovely way to spend an afternoon. Highly recommend.
This was an excellent tour our guide was passionate and informative. This place felt authentic and port was from a Portuguese family operation which mattered to us. The ports we tasted were all fantastic and we got information about each one, our favourite was the 10 year old white port, we bought a bottle and managed to get it home in our suitcase in one piece! Thanks everyone at Pocas, we think you do an amazing thing with love.
A careful and thorough guided tour through the geography and history of port wine. Our guide was very knowledgeable as he is also working in the industry with his grandfather. We were taken to the cellars and shown the various wines stored there in the barrels and given an understanding of the aging and times and different qualities produced. At the conclusion we were given 3 wines to taste and were able to compare the taste and debt of the port. The environment was so beautiful and the tasting room was tasteful and beautiful. The experience was unhurried and relaxed . Out individual guide was so pleasant and spoke clear English. I loved it. The only negative point I want to make is Viator booked us with a French guided tour. I specifically wanted English and it looked as though that would be accommodated. However on arrival we were told the time we booked was only French . The receptionist however was apologetic and was able to get us in to next tour with an English guide and we only had to wait 30 min. I believe Viator is responsible for this error and should reassess their booking site. It was explained that it’s not the first instance of this. The tour outside this was Extremely well done.
Outstanding experience, and very good vine.
The actual cellar tour was quite brief—probably around 20–30 minutes—with most of the time spent seated and tasting three different Port wines. The guide was very friendly and welcoming, but I personally felt there wasn’t a great deal to see or learn during the tour. I’m also not a big fan of Port wine, so that may have influenced my experience somewhat. I was travelling solo, but fortunately ended up sitting with a lovely group of girls during the tasting, which made the experience much more enjoyable 😊 Overall, it was a pleasant experience, but I wouldn’t particularly recommend this tour if you’re looking for a more immersive winery visit. There may be other wine tours around Porto that offer more in terms of the tour itself.
Excellent tour with a brilliant and enthusiastic guide. Loved the selections we were presented with for tasting - so we just had to make a purchase! Would definitely recommend 😊
The Portuguese lady that checked us in was king of rude . Our Italian lady that gave us our tour and wine tasting was very nice .
Learned a lot about port. Guide very knowledgeable and willing to answer questions. Port choices were good
Great tour of a really nice family run Port business. Historical location, great venue. tour guide was enthusiastic and knowledgeable and the port tasting was in a great location with generous samples.
Standard company wine tour of their cellars. General overview and walkthrough. Seated for tasting at the end where you can purchase anything additional. Felt a little like it should have been free, but not a bad way to spend an hour. If you’re looking to have a cellar experience it checks the box.
Very friendly cellar. You get a very personal experience. I recommend visiting a cellar with Portuguese vs British origins. Loved our time here and the port wines were phenomenal. Bought 3 bottles to take home with us
Very informative and our guide was great. Port was lovely, could stay afterwards for drinks. Thank you
It was impressive and very well organized. The port was amazing and so was thé charcuterie board we ordered. Even though we arrived late , the guide gave us a quick tour of the facility before we left . Highly recommend .
nice explaining about the history and variety of wines good friendship with guests and between guests
Pretty lame No proper explanation as to how to “taste” or appreciate the different ports-the tour description was discombobulated and at times not relevant to our tour
Learned a lot, delicious port, and generous tasting pours! Would recommend to someone visiting Porto.
We had been recommended to visit Pocas, a family owned Port wine house, and it did not disappoint. The guide gave us a lot of information during the tour and then we were able to sample 3 different types of Port Wine at the end. This made the end of the tour most convivial! There was an opportunity to buy wine and port etc. after our visit. Would recommend.
Our guide was fun & knowledgeable. We learned all about Douro valley & Port wine production. Tasting 3 different wines with explanation of each. Don't arrive early, there's nothing around to do.
Great tasting experience. The location feels a little bit rough but the building itself was great. This is my second time here and I enjoyed it both times.
Great tour, upgraded to the have the cheese & sweet accompaniment which was great value our guide had an infectious energy that really made the experience. Bought a lovely bottle of port that will be saved for a special occasion
Lovely locally owned independent cellar, small group tour with very enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide - thanks Cindy. Lovely guided tasting experience, not rushed. Would recommend
We enjoyed our tour which ended with port tasting. We were with other visitors in a group of 20. Our guide Cindy was very knowledgeable and enjoyed answering any questions. We learnt a lot. Can highly recommend it.
The visit at Poças was very interesting and enjoyable. Our guide was always very enthusiastic, which made the whole experience even more engaging. The wine tasting was also excellent, I really liked the wines. I especially recommend Poças for their wide range of certified vegan wines, which is something I truly appreciate.
Interesting tour, good selection of ports for a reasonable price, great to see a Portuguese producer doing so well
Great tour with wonderful guide. Port was delicious. Had a wonderful time. Highly recommended. Family owned.
We hit terrible traffic on the way over and ended up being late. They were so gracious and didn’t make us feel bad about it. Really appreciated being able to run and catch up. The inf was interesting and the ports were delicious! I’m a convert now!!
Outstanding introduction to the history and production of port. Great guide. Wonderful overall experience.
The walk is definitely worth it. Portuguese family owned cave and vineyards, beautiful and relaxed visit. Cindy, our guide, is passionate. The degustation is well organized and presented. Noone is rushing you to buy anything. It was a really good experience
Great experience learning about the different ports and how they are made and then stored in the cellars of Porto. The port tasting at the end provided some of the best port we had in Portugal.
Had a really interesting cellar tour with a lovely guide,I dont remember his name. Little interactive presentation about the history and what is Pocas exactly. Really cellar tour and nice tasting. I would prefer if the wines are prepared already in the glass. It was a nice touch with the names on the card where to sit. Would be nice a bit of explanation when we taste the wine, left a little bit alone.
It is highly recommended! I went for the solo trip and met nice people in the group, we had the wine tour and had nice tasting, the guides were amazing and speak many laguanges.
Wow! What a lovely experience! This century-old winery was lovely. I've been on several wine tours and tastings, but I don't think I've ever had such an enthusiastic guide like Inez. She was absolutely lovely, and passionate about her job! I learned much about port, which I appreciated.
Personal, Nice. The guide answers all our questions. The group was not to big. Very good tasting og port!
We had a very enjoyable informal tasting at Pocas. We walked in without reservations and were able to taste and learn about Pocas and their delicious ports. We liked that it was very informal. You could choose to have a standard 3 Port tasting or also just individual glasses. The location is a bit hard to find - about a 30 minute uphill walk from the main tasting cellar area along the river. There's also a metro stop 5 minutes away.
Picks is a much smaller and more intimate port producer than other houses such as Cockburn’s. The tour provides details on how different ports are produced from the same grape using different techniques.
Pocas was just what we needed in a wine tour, very informative, small group and our guide was spot on and we had plenty of time to ask questions on the tour. We sampled 4 types of port at the end without being rushed at all and in a super setting. It’s a hidden gem and scale ( not too Massive) gave you a clear understanding of Port from a family winery.
The experience was wonderful and this is a real Portuguese family who started and still owns the Port house.
This was a great tour, where our tour guide was filled with energy and enthusiasm. She taught our group about the company, the Douro Valley, and port. My preference would be more time spent learning the details of the port process, so I should have gone with a more experienced group. This is not anyone's fault, and I did have a great time, but I was hoping for the more advanced tour to go with my exceptional tasting. The Golden Years Tasting was superb. Great quality ports, Great premium experience and well worth the 45 Euros.
Thoroughly enjoyed our tour. Our guide provided the information in an easy to understand manner Lovely rooms and selection of ports We would definitely recommend
We had no idea when we booked that there were different levels of tasting. Turns out that we had the “ basic” level. We were genuinely interested in the process of the production but it transpired all the others in the group had more tastings and when we asked why others got more tastings we were told that we had just the standard ticket. Very belittling and embarrassing. Also the cellars are a long way (1.5km uphill) among a lot of derelict buildings well out of where the other cellars are located. The guide while pleasant enough but had a very irritating presentation mantra trying to be funny when he wasn’t. Bottom line it was a waste of time and terrible value for money. Suggest if you are serious about wine and have a genuine desire to learn then do your research and go directly to one of the more established producers. Don’t waste your time going through tour companies.
We really enjoyed the tour. Our guide, Philip, was really well informed and his presentation interesting, witty and informative. The Port tasting was excellent - we were given interesting information about the Port, but the whole experience was so well planned and organised. I love the fact that this company is through and through Portuguese.
Our first time trying Port wine and it was an amazing experience to do so with an expert guiding us through it. Definitely recommend!
The Pacos tour is a fantastic experience, very knowledgeable tour guide, super port to sample in a lovely environment. Another great reason to visit Porto
An excellent experience in a really pretty local with an excellent guide. Very intimate in a good way.
Give a good overview from a-z of Portwine- Production. Tasting is in a nice Celler- envirement. Perfect tourguide
Tour was great - one of the few Portuguese owned port wine producers in Porto. Guide was lovely and informative. The port vermouth was phenomenal. I recommend :)
The people at Pocas including the tour guide were friendly, professional and knowledgeable. It was extremely enjoyable and informative. And the ports were very good. Bought 2 bottles.
This was a fantastic experience. Our guide was terrific and knowledgeable. We learned a lot and the wine was delicious. Well paced and relaxed. We enjoyed it very much!
