Our tour guide Cindy was very informative and enthusiatic and made the tour fun and interting. We learned a great deal about Pocas wine and port and the whole production process and history. The menu terroir food was delicious and fantasticallypaired with delicious wines and port. We would highly recommend.

We took this tour because we were unsure of whether we would enjoy port and didn't want to commit to a multi-winery tasting. The tour of the cellar or "lodge" as it is called locally was excellent...included a great overview of how port wine is made and the different variations, as well as why port is so unique to the area in Portugal. The explanations of what we were tasting was also well done, tying back to what was discussed in the tour.
This experience was simply perfect & well done. Our guide was passionate about all aspects of the process, part of the country and the final product. Well done!
This was a brilliant experience. A family run business but so professional. We had Cindy as our tour guide and she was amazing. So informative about everything from the beginning to the end of the Port/wine making process. Got to taste 2 wines/2 Ports and loved every minute. Such a reasonable experience and would recommend to anyone wanting a shorter experience rather than a 5 hour vineyard tour.
kids don't get much out of it - fun with lots of wines and ports to taste - the portions were very generous
Need the proper address not just the street took an Uber who had no idea where it was and almost missed it had to find it ourselves after he dropped us off at the Holiday Inn way down the street —- driver lived in Porto and had no idea almost missed the entire thing
We booked the English speaking tour which was at 15:30 on our ticket. However when we arrived, we were told it was in Portuguese and that the English tour started at 15:00. This must have been an error on the Viator site, however it meant that we missed the first 20 minutes of the tour and only joined at the end for the tasting which was a huge shame. I would recommend not booking through viator and instead using a different booking site for Pocas.
Incredible experience. The cellar is very well maintained and updated while keeping its traditional style. The staff and tour guide were very very nice, open top answers questions and making sure the experience is going well. What to say about the wines? We had a "summer tasting" which included a cool wine cocktail, amazing!. We were also visiting the place with our kids that did not get bored at all and had a tasting of mosto (non-alcohol wine), juice, and some chocolates. Thanks!
I would recommend this experience - a great tour - informative, interesting, and we thoroughly enjoyed the tastings :)
We did a team building activity and we had a great experience! Not only the wine tasting was gorgeous, but the guide was very helpful in explaining the process of the the Porto wine. Absolutely recommended!
Great experience, even if you are not much of a wine person. Well worth the price considering it was only 20 euros per person.
Excellent visit to this family-owned winery (the only one) in Porto, with a well-informed guide. The tasting was a bit confusing at first, since the tour group consisted of people who had booked different tasting options. You can buy extra glasses of wine or port on the spot, and they offer aperitifs, chocolate, nuts etc, as extras. Well worth the visit, and off the beaten track compared to the big wineries on the quayside.
Great Small Winery Near Porto that does more than just Port. There are plenty of port wine cellars in Gaia. It was to try one that with many varieties of wine. Off the beaten path, but good.
Ports we tried were delicious, and Andreia was fabulous! We wanted to learn more about port production, and she is very knowledgeable. Recommend!
The guided tour with Ines was incredible, she showed us the cellar and she explained us the process of making wine. It was very interesting and she was super nice. The wine tasting was also very good, the place was very cute. It is a great plan for visiting Porto.
Very welcoming and interesting tour with knowledgeable staff. We wanted to go with a port producer that we hadn’t heard of before and it didn’t disappoint. Easy to understand and follow the tour. Tasting experience was fab, again great staff knowledge. Beautiful room For the tasting. Lots available to buy but not pushy at all.
Punctual, great information, nice afternoon learning about and sampling many different port wines. Would highly recommend.
Great tour through the cellars informative without overkill. Perfect tasting at the end with just the right amount of education
Very interesting tour. Very suitable for my husband who uses a walker. I would like to have seen the bottling area or a video of same. Parking on street is free on Saturday and Sunday, this would have been useful to know in advance. A few more nibbles to accompany tastings would have gone down well.
Excellent tour and description of the different ports and their production systems . Staff very responsive. . Tasting well organised with plenty of time
I found everything in the tour so informative it made me enjoy the wine even more. The ladies who work there were very polite and friendly it was an amazing experience visiting .
Good tour, great selection of drinks🤣 We went with not much expectation but the guide was very knowledgeable and it was interesting to learn about Pocas family business!
Very informative and enjoyable experience. Pocas is a bit off the track but worth it to support a local family owned Portugeuse Port wine producer.
Amazing adventure with the fantastic guide. Everything was explained super clear and there was also a time to learn about the Porto wine production and the history of the family. Good value to money. The cellar is gorgeous itself and you can smell the wine everywhere there.
I was really late, so I didn't do the tour BUT the lady I'd spoken to on the phone made sure I could still do a tasting! I was surprised and incredibly grateful to her (THANK YOU INES). She was absolutely passionate about the products and the heritage - very happy to her share tasting knowledge & opinions if you asked her. As I was by myself I appreciated that she discussed the flavours with me as it really brought the wines and port wines to life. There were plenty cheeses, jams, crackers etc to see how flavours changed after/with food and this really added to my appreciation of Pocas products. I would return on another visit and do a different tasting group of products. The building is unpretentious on the outside but inside WOW a cavernous room, with racks of wine and casks of wine, a bar and plenty tables for the tasting. It's maybe 300-400m from the Vila Nova de Gaia train station (1 stop from General Torres) - very easy to get to.
Tasting the wines and meeting great people was so great :-) It was nice to learn about the region, tradition, and wine itself. The only small thing I would change - to make the tour in cellar a bit slower, it is a lot of information to process :) Thank you for a nice experience.
My husband & I chose the Portuguese-owned Pocas wine cellar because it is a smaller port wine producer located away from the busy tourist area in Porto. We took an Uber to the winery and walked back (downhill) to our hotel along the river. The winery is lovely and our English-speaking guide informative. The tasting room is spacious, allowing for social distancing during the Covid pandemic. The tour group was small and the tour comprehensive. The pourings were generous and very nice. We thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon.
Wonderful experience and tasty wines. We are not port fans so we did the VOC (table wines) and port tasting.
Entertaining guided tour. Nice postage. Reception bit short of dust.
Fantastic immersion in the philosophy of the Port! Location and organization were impeccable. Absolutely to be repeated
Warmly received by Cindy . Very temperamental and with a lot of love for the job showed us around. The tasting was in line with the expert explanation and there was no looking at one drop more or less 😉😘
Tour available in several languages, which was really good. Our mother tongue being French, we took the tour in this language and our guide was great: passionate, dynamic and friendly. there was the choice of 2 white wines, 1 red, 2 white port and 1 red port. Very nice selection of wines by the glass if you want to extend the experience. I highly recommend
Absolutely recommended. Guide in Italian, very interesting tasting. Too bad not to be able to board bottles but beyond expectations. Untouristy area and a bit 'difficult to reach but absolutely worth it
Visit of excellent level both in customer attention and in the details exposed by the guide. The latter was in English for reasons of time, but is also present in Italian (I recommend it because unfortunately some information is difficult to pick up if you do not chew English well). Really interesting wine tasting with an unexpected gift (which unfortunately I forgot on the table 😭). By the way, it is the only winery still 100% Portuguese and in an area that is anything but touristy, it is definitely worth a chance.
Nice information and tour. A real family business! The table wine that is poured is not special and not very tasty. The port against that was great, I would not choose a tasting with table wine.
Excellent for Francophone travelers, my places are beautiful. Perfect also if you want to go with family with children.
15 hours ago New Very nice and intimate visit, with Cindy, who speaks impeccable French and knows well the winemaking processes. The property has been in the family for 4 generations! The tasting is also worth a visit: the taste is there, with rather generous doses, in a pleasant setting. A place out of the classics to tourists, to discover.
Great visit, extremely friendly guide. Beautiful places. Memorable tasting!!! Superb cellars, magical place
Although this winery is discreetly nestled in a street in Vila Nova de Gaia, the guided tour was very interesting and detailed about the making and distinction between the different types of port wines Good tasting with wines offered with very different flavors Thanks to our guide
Visit very well carried out, as the Guide Fábia Rocha explained very well how the harvest of Porto Wine and the various variants it can have.
The explanations of the person who guided the visit were very clear and interesting. The methods and facilities of the winery are very good
Although our guided tour with Fabia was very pleasant, the arrival at the visit was dire. Although we are recommended to arrive 10 minutes early when we arrive we are surprised by the receptionist telling us to wait on the street in the sun to give the exact time of the visit to be able to enter. After considering that this winery is not easily accessible and that we were made to be on the street when inside it made air conditioning and benches, the treatment of the receptionist was unpleasant.
High quality Douro and Port wine tasting. The guide, as well as a descendant of the family that has traditionally followed the production activity of this company for generations, is very knowledgeable and available to resolve any customer doubts.
Interesting visit on the port manufacturing process between AOC wine and port, white, red, oak barrels, everything is explained. Small downside to the tasting I would advise tasting a good wine rather than a more basic wine that would encourage more sales
Bastante bien, primero te explican todo y después pruebas dos vinos DOC y uno de Oporto. Lo recomendaría.
The guide told us the history of the winery, always belonging to the same Portuguese family. One of the few 100% Portuguese wineries. We loved the visit and the delicious wines. Highly recommended.
A Felipa conduziu o tour muito bem, muito gentil e agradável. A degustação foi maravilhosa, os vinhos de excelente qualidade.
I went with my boyfriend to visit the cellars through an Odyssey valley that we had to enjoy. I didn't know about the Poças cellars, but I was super pleased when at the beginning of the visit, the guide Filipa, mentioned to us that they are 100% national cellars. I think it's super important to help and get to know the best we have in our country! The visit was super interesting, you can see when someone does what they love, and gives themselves with the greatest dedication... An experience that I definitely recommend!
Guia excelente e mto simpático, prova em condições perfeitas (talvez substituir as bolachas de água e sal como acompanhamento :) )
