Teresa was an excellent guide for our tour, she tailored it for our interests and brought her own perspectives to make it a really fun couple of hours. She also gave us some great food recommendations and even showed us other places to go for more murals later. Thank you Teresa!

This lively street used to make the connection between the port/pier and the center of the city, but it had been abandoned for quite a while until a couple years ago when it underwent renovations.
This market was built in 1885, and is one of the best examples of iron and glass architecture; although it was built as a market, it never really worked as such.

Our guide Bruno was awesome. He was enthusiastic and fun. It was evident he was very knowledgeable and loved this city. With so many small alley ways and so much to see, it was the perfect way to see the city. Soooo much better with a small group.
Bruno was a fantastic guide! You can tell he loves this city. He can answer all the questions you have and all the ones you didn't even know you had.
Bruno was an excellent guide and shared a lot with us about the places we stopped at. So thank you Bruno, we had a great time with you 🙂
Bruno was awesome! This was so much better than being dragged along in a huge group. Bruno was very personable and had a lot of great info about the city, from both modern and historical perspectives. A great introduction to Porto.
Carlos was delightful and showed us parts of Porto we would never have found on our own, including the museum in the old prison, the tile repository and the fabulous bakeries. We enjoyed the views over the water, the train station and the tips on local restaurants and how to get into the Lello bookshop. It was a great first day in Porto!
Carlos was a wonderful tour guide! He is so knowledgeable about Porto- its history and its present. We walked through areas I never would’ve seen if I had been in a car. Highly recommend!!!
It was a delight spending a late Sunday morning with Rosa. She’s insightful and knowledgeable about Porto, through the ages to the present day. We learnt a lot on the ‘Off Beaten Track’ tour of Porto and it differed from the ‘Highlights of Porto’ tour we took on the first day of our trip. We started from a quiet, high up spot, with an unfolding gorgeous view of the river. Rosa lead a peaceful, meandering tour through the tiny, sometimes cobbled, ancient streets, imparting history and stories as we progressed. She covered so many different aspects, from history, social issues, local tales and local people of interest, religion, royalty, architecture etc. She’s even inspired us to do the Pilgrim walk in the future! Rosa’s a calm, intelligent and relaxed, lovely lady who tells and pitches a story very well and without judgement. We were provided with interesting detail and information and given space to make our own judgements and conclusions. Rosa’s an exceptional storyteller and we really appreciated her style. We recommend highly that you take a tour with her. She also kindly gave us ideas about places to go and to eat, which was very generous of her. Thank you so much for the tour, Rosa!
Andre’ was fabulous! He customized my tour to fit my interests. He gave such unique insights into the history of the city. Things that most would not point out. Today was an incredible day due to him! Highly recommend this tour
What I hoped it would be My guide was intelligent informed and enthused about showing off the more human and significant cultural side of Porto
Teresa you rock! We love all the stories behind the street arts - they are all so unique and empowering. I'm so inspired by the free spirited people in Porto . The bridge connecting Gaia and Porto was beautiful tooo. We had so much fun and we laughed a lot cause Teresa is such a cool guide ! 😁😁😉 what a memorable day . If you want to know Porto up close and personal this is the tour indeed. THANK YOU xxx
Zero on Urban or Classic Art. We had already done a walking tour of Porto so had hit the tourist spots, so thought this would be off the beaten path, etc. Basically just walked around Porto. I wouldn't suggest this. Although I liked our guide, just didn't get much out of this.
I had a great tour through Porto! As a tourist you will not find those places we went to. Bruno was a perfect guide who knows every corner of Porto.
We really enjoyed this tour. It covered all of downtown Porto, which is full of good street art. This tour was particularly good for a family with teenagers or 20 somethings, because I think our kids were kept enthralled throughout. I recommend this tour for anyone with a teenager or young adult in the group, and for anyone with an abiding interest in art and how it influences and is influenced by its environment.
Saw this tour and thought it sounded a bit more quirky than the usual thing. We were not disappointed! Carlos was so full of knowledge, of Porto, of where to eat, and more importantly of the street art! He knew the artists, their intent, as well as the methods of how they appeared on the wall. Would definitely recommend as something a bit different, making you look at Porto in a whole new way!
One word for this guy ... Awesome. I've learned so much about Porto through his knowledge of the country and wisdom of life. Gustavo is super friendly and makes you feel welcome in a matter of seconds. He is also a brillant photographer and learned great trips and tricks but most of all, he is a fantastic guide. You will learn and see stuff of Porto that you can't get from a text book. I feel that i aquired knowledge of the country and also gained a friend! He makes you fall in love with the city. 5 STARS for Gustavo. Will be visiting Porto very soon and will for sure look for this guy again and book another tour
Carlos did a great job for us: 2 parents and 3 teenagers. Nice stories about his city. We learned al lot about the tiles and street art in Porto. We started at the library and ended up at the park Christal Palace.
Joao really loves his city and during the visit to Porto he transmits all this love. In a clear and complete way, Joao told us about many things, he pointed out details that would otherwise be impossible to see, he introduced us to a different, alternative, adorable Port! It was a really positive experience that I would recommend to anyone: seeing Porto with the eyes of a person who was born gives us special sensations. And Joao is a very very nice local!
Joao was the local who caught my attention while browsing and after meeting him I can confirm he is more than worth to be booked! He gave us a stroll around some of the hidden side of the city centre, showed us some cool places and talked about us some street art. Joao was really knowledgeable and responded precisely with any of our questions, and he gave us plenty of recommendations as well. I would highly recommend him!
If you take this tour with Joao, you will NOT be disappointed. His knowledge of the art, the artists and the deeper meaning is brilliant. He is actually making Street Art, his thesis so it is a serious passion for him. He was full of information, answered all questions willingly and kept the tour on pace. He also shared places for me to go in Lisbon for my trip there. I highly recommend the tour as it provide me insight to the street art world I would never has know on my own and you must do it with Joao! Thank you for a wonderful experience.
I booked this tour because of the reviews on here and I was not disappointed. Jao was not only knowledgeable about art but also of Porto's history. As we walked through the city I was told about some of the inspirations behind the art and the artist. He was able to keep my attention the entire tour which is a plus.
I booked through With Locals for the street art tour with Joao. It was utterly fascinating. Joao is super knowledgable about art and truly passionate about street art. He is an art student, who not only knows his stuff, but personally knows the street artists. His depth of knowledge means you will come to understand not only the individual pieces of art, but also their meaning within the context of larger street art projects across the city and more importantly their meaning within the context of the streets and neighbourhoods where they are located. Joao knows so much about each piece - when it was painted, by whom and with what purpose, the techniques used etc. etc. Together with Joao you will discover pieces of art you would never find on your own and pieces you could easily walk past and not even notice at all. You will get a sense of the way street art is developing and changing in Porto and you may well get to see a piece that was just painted a day or two before. Joao is also just a thoroughly delightful young man who it is enjoyable to spend a few hours walking the streets of this beautiful city with.
The tour with Joao was absolutely awesome! His passion and excitement is really fun and contagious, making this tour very entertaining. Meanwhile you also get to experience the city in a very different, much more interesting way than all of the other tourists, making you feel a lot more comfortable in it. Joao is a great guide and the street art and hidden places he shows you are absolutely gorgeous. He also knows about literally 99% of the street art pieces in the city (creators, their backgrounds and why they make the art) as he has been studying it for years. 14/10 would recommend!
The walk was really interesting. Joao is very easy going and tells enthiousiastic about the street art.
Bruno was fantastic. It felt like we were walking around Porto with an old friend! He knows all the great local spots and was able to show us multiple points with the best views of the city! A great tour and worth your time!
The tour was absolutely worth it! Carlos is a very nice guy and showed us a lot of the hidden art gems in Porto. We went to nice places we wouldn't find on our own, if you want to experience the street art vibe of Porto you should definitely get in touch with Carlos!
Carlos' tour was really well paced and a great introduction to us to Porto. We particularly enjoyed all the street art that Carlos was very knowledgeable and passionate about. Lots of gold tips for us for the rest of our stay as well.
What a fun and informative way to spend a couple of hours. Both my husband and I loved exploring the inside world of street art with Joao. At no point did we feel rushed as we asked lots of questions. Now as we walk the streets of Porto we are seeing so much more, it's like viewing a gallery at every corner. Thanks Joao
Joao was an excellent guide on our walk around Porto looking at street art. He is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the subject, and explained well the differences between tagging, street art, urban art. Joao was also very patient in answering all my questions and in waiting for me to take photographs. I enjoyed the experience very much, and highly recommend Joao and his street art tour!
Really enjoyable despite the weather. Joao was very knowledgeable and let us create our own artwork, very good fun!
The street art tour with Joao was great – although the weather was terrible on that afternoon and we had to bring our umbrellas... During the 2 hours' tour, Joao showed us many different pieces of street art and at the same time gave us a tour through Porto's many lanes and small streets. Joao is very passionate about street art, really knows the scene of Porto and succeeds to transmit his passion to his tour guests. Being from Porto, Joao gives you all the background information about the city and its attitude towards art. For us, it was a highly recommendable tour and time flew – thanks Joao & good luck!
We had an amazing tour! We learned a lot about the street art and the overall history of Porto. He asked us what we wanted to discover and he showed us what we wanted to see. We recommend this tour with Joao to everyone!
Thanks a lot Joao! The girls had a great time with you and they kept talking about it afterwards. They want to start doing street art here in Switzerland now! :)
Joao gave us an excellent tour. He knows very much about the streetart in Porto and the city itself, and can tell you a lot about it. He can even tell you stuff about the artworks he didn't select for the tour (there's sooo much to see!). Just ask if you see another work you're interested in and he'll be happy to tell you about that too. Joao is very friendly and laid back. Halfway the tour he gave us a cool short exercise, which was fun to do. I was amazed by the different and many artworks he showed us, including the interesting insights he gave us. Would definetely recommend Joao as your guide!
We enjoyed the tour with Joao very much! He knows the Street-Art Scene in Porto very well and explained us a lot about the artists, their styles and the context of the work. We can highly recommend a tour with him, it will open your eyes for the small pieces of artwork along your way and improve your understanding of some of the better-known pieces. It was great to explore so many different pieces of art work in a variety of urban setting on the tour around the city center. Joao made it a perfect walk, thank you!
Joao knows the cities street art like the back of his hand! His passion quickly rubs off on you and leaves you wanting to learn more (believe me, you learn as much as you can absorb while on the tour). Joao is friendly and fun, while being professional as well. I recommend doing this tour early in your trip so you can continue to explore the streets armed with new knowledge!
Joao gave us a great tour on the street art and as an art and history student he definitely knows his stuff. He has lots of interesting "off the beaten track" stories and sights to show you - this was really ideal for our kids in their twenties and showed another very interesting side to the city of Porto - thank you Joao - pleasure spending the afternoon with you
Foi uma super visita com uma pessoa fantástica. Ele faz nós viver a história do Porto pela visita. Fez me descobrir o Porto de outra maneira que eu não conhecia.
Very nice walk outside tourist places. It allowed us to discover anecdotes and the living places of the inhabitants of this city. Walk in English with Angelo, very interesting and very attentive guide. He gave us good addresses to taste typical Portuguese food.
Jsoa is an enthusiastic guide who talks passionately about the street art of Porto. He showed us the different sides of the Street Art in Porto. Through his tour we now look at the walls differently of Porto.
