It’s a beautiful bookstore. Loved buying a few books but I think it’s overpriced or at least buying through Trip Advisor was over priced. Did not realize that we actually got our tickets from a third party (Viator) and we had difficulty downloading our tickets. Got several emails saying here are your tickets and when you clicked on the link, it said This is not your ticket. Library person had to fool with it to find correct bar code. Other “if” you have the time to walk there - very uphill from where we were, I would do it.

A special place for booklovers. Very crowded, and there is still a 20 to 30 minute wait with the skip the line ticket. Still, a memorable visit. A curated selection of mostly popular classics in a few languages, and the usual merch.
Ana amazing unique library - bookstore! Best to get there early due to cues. The architecture and r range of books is worth the wait and the staff are friendly and professional.
Viator charges too much money and there was no audio. I also booked a 10:30 time it was accepted then they moved me to 11:30 I accepted, final ticket showed 12:45. I enjoyed my experience in the bookstore but feel I was charged too much money to get into the store.
So unique and charming. Staff was so kind and helpful in helping find and purchase books of interest to us. Highly recommend it. It was also very advantageous to purchase tickets before we arrived, otherwise we would have had to stand in a long line.
Listen to the audio guide before you go in maybe even while in line. Not really able to listen once you enter. Also would be good without audio guide. Arrive early and it is very crowed there
First Viator is booking claiming an audio guide which there is not. We asked about it and the book store does not have or claim to have an audio guide. The book store was worth the admission for me . I found the building and layout incredible. It is beautiful from the walls and ceiling to floor if highly polished wood. The stained glass ceiling is magnificent. One of the draws for me was picking a book in the language preferred and having it included in the admission price. We were directed to where the language we wanted and choosing accordingly. The books are new hard covered and displayed to show the book stores information. It was a beautiful experience. However the que lines for the times are tickets were long and the crowds were unbelievable. We managed to take some photos but it was challenging. I did really enjoy the experience.
A ticket only option, without book vouchers and audio should be clearly advertised. The combined price is misleading.
Bookshop is beautiful, but very busy! Great that we could use our ticket price towards books, English titles are on the left. Ai Weiwei exhibition is another 8euros if you're interested. I would recommend heading down to the basement to look at the library of banned books- very interesting!
An amazing place but I think too many people to look around properly ans obviously people wanting to take photos which I get. However, long queues to pay/exchange vouchers at the end. Must just say thought the staff in the store were amazing very calm and polite. All in all an experience not to be missed.
This is a lovely bookshop. The only thing I wouldn't recommend is booking through a third party. I paid double what the price was on the direct website and all I got for that was an audio companion telling me about the history of the city and the store. Not worth it.
It is over hyped, over priced and over crowded. Even with a prebooked ticket there was a long queue outside the shop with wait of about 30 minutes to get in. There were too many people in the shop and I had the feeling of being rushed through with little time to explore the books on the shelves or take photos of the famous staircase. Overall not a good experience
This experience was smooth and pleasant. We didn’t actually get admitted until 20 minutes past the reserved time but the audio tour was perfect listening while we waited. Once you ascend the staircase you cannot come back down so be sure you check out everything on the first floor when you enter.
I booked this to tour as I have a family member who loves books and wanted a book as a souvenir. It is a very beautiful bookstore however I found it so busy and full of people. It was hard to enjoy it. Not sure it’s worth the entry price.
Far too busy! Staff not happy. Pictures online much better than the real thing! Would not bother - just look online
One of a kind book store. So much to see inside. Books made especially for that store were priceless!
Very interesting…..we had a great guide ….not for kids below 14 ( teenager ) We loved it . Thank you very much
There are long wait lines and many people inside the bookstore, but it’s very organized. The bookstore is breathtaking and it is worth the wait.
Livraira Lello has become a huge tourist attraction due to Harry Potter lore. It's crowded but fun to see. The interiors is outstanding and you just have to have patience with the crowds. The woodwork and stairs are a must ee. You buy a timed ticket for entry. It happens that we go there late, went on the line for the current time period and only had to wait about 5 min to enter. Your ticket allows you to buy books and use the ticket price towards your purchase. Clever marekting. You will buy more books than you expected to! Books are located by language and there are many employees to help you. Once you go upstairs, you go to the newer, modern building to pay for your purchases. Next door is a great ice cream parlor. The flow thru the buildings is well done.
Read Harry Potter books and watched a couple movies but not a huge fan. It was disappointing. Not much to see. Crowded. With entry, the store gives credit to purchase certain books with the store name on it (15 euro or so). So get a book!
It’s crowded noisey and you can’t see the books for all of the people There was t a very good selection of books
I was in Porto for one week with my 2 kids and seing this beautiful library was the best experience imo ! What a wonderful place
The QR code from Viator wasn’t accepted at the door. I had to get help from a nice worker at the bookstore to go back thru my emails and confirm my purchase of the tickets. I paid 25 each for 5 tickets and the face value if I had booked directly would have been $15
Great attraction to visit - it is a quick tour and very crowded but worth doing. Queues start earlier than time slot so get there handy. Just a note - we booked this tour via trip advisor/viator….the book store are having huge problems with tickets booked this way and will not accept the ticket provided. We had to pay again on the day but have been assured by viator that a refund will be issued.
Visiting the Lello Bookstore is a must while in Porto. St first, we were put off by the long line even though we had purchased tickets in advance for 11am. The 11am was very long and many people in line did not have tickets which was confusing to us. The way the line works is if you get to the front of the line and you don’t have a ticket, they kick you out and you have to go to another line. So… why not have two signs that read 11 am pre-purchased tickets only and Line for everybody else… The bookstore is absolutely gorgeous inside and definitely worth seeing. I do wish we had been told that once you go upstairs, you are allowed to come down the same way. No one told us that and it happens that the books we were interested in most were all downstairs. So be sure to check everything out on the first level BEFORE heading upstairs.
It does not disappoint! When you buy your ticket, even now in summer season stood in line about 20 minutes and everything went smoothly. The flow through the bookstore was great. The books are beautiful and did not disappoint. It was great to be where Rawlings First wrote her Harry Potter books.
It is a small place for the cost of admission, quality-price not adequate. But the nice thing is the stairs and the entrance
I didn't receive the invitation or the information that it would be closed on the day of my reservation, luckily I counted on the help of the manager at the place
A farce. I'm sorry to say it but unfortunately it's just like that. I wouldn't have appreciated it even if it had been free admission. Do not go.
Money-printing machine. Admittedly all the articles of world literature, but the admission is unnecessary. And the facility is not that great either. You can also find similarly exciting public libraries there.
It is a shame that it can be seen in 10 minutes. Long line but very fast. Although it is offered with a guide, the establishment does not have one; the operator sends one to unload it.
Very bad experience, and there is no way for me to contact tripadvisor
A complete scan. They charge a value far above the value the tickets actually cost. Tickets are worth 15.95 euros and we pay more than 25 euros for each ticket. Don't shop with this company. The audio guide was never sent. Complete waste.
They have scammed us out of our money and they have refused to refund our money. I do not recommend this company to hire. On the other hand, the bookstore is spectacular; it is a trip that you have to take at least once in your life.
