Itinerary
The Porto Cathedral is a Romanesque-Gothic building from the 12th and 13th centuries, which underwent major renovations in the Baroque period (17th-18th centuries). Inside, it still retains the appearance of a fortress church, with battlements. Of particular note is the beautiful rose window (12th century) and the loggia or side galilee (1736), the work of Nicolau Nasoni, facing the city. Next to the doors are monumental holy water fonts from the late 17th century. Next to the 17th century baptismal font, there is a bas-relief by Teixeira Lopes (Father).
Visit Porto’s historic São Bento Train Station and admire its stunning main hall, decorated with thousands of traditional Portuguese azulejos. Take some time to appreciate the detailed tile panels depicting important moments from Portugal’s history and enjoy the station’s beautiful architecture before continuing your experience.
Livraria Lello (formerly Livraria Chardron, 1869-1919) is a Portuguese bookstore and publishing house whose headquarters are located at 144 Rua das Carmelitas, in the historic center of Porto. Classified as a Monument of Public Interest and in the process of becoming a National Monument, Livraria Lello preserves the original beauty of its building.
Explore Porto’s historic center and discover its charming streets, historic buildings, and lively squares. Walk through the heart of the city, admire its traditional architecture, and see some of Porto’s most iconic landmarks while enjoying the experience at your own pace.
The Palácio da Bolsa, or Palácio da Associação Comercial do Porto, a neoclassical building, began to be built on October 6, 1842, the solemn date of the laying of the first stone, given the closure of the Casa da Bolsa do Comércio, which forced Portuguese traders to discuss their business in the open air.

Christina was extremely accommodating, warm, friendly & knowledgeable!! When circumstances changed, Christina was very flexible and exceeded our expectations! She also made a great lunch suggestion!! Thank you! Highly recommend this tour!
Christina our guide was so good- she looked after us so well, told us so much and worked extremely hard! We visited the cathedral and due to changes, she was our private guide, then onto the Lello bookstore and then onto the Stick Exchange. A long day but excellent value for money. Oh and be ready for lots of walking…. Thank you Christina!
Although our guide arrived late, she gave us a very good tour.
Tour guide was great!!!!! Just enough to keep it interesting and so much fun! Got to speed to the front of the lines with the tour guide which really saved time!
Knowledgeable guided tour, highlights of areas listed
Luis was excellent. Very knowledgeable and patient. Tour was at a perfect pace. We saw a lot and got great tips for the rest of the trip. Thank you
Luis knew his stuff!!! Friendly, informative and knowledgable but didn’t feel bombarded. Great tour of the cathedral, the stock exchange palace and the bookstore! Beautiful buildings. Would recommend if you do nothing else in Porto!
Great Tour! Thank you to our wonderful guide. Good information at each stop and kept everyone on time. Very knowledgeable and shows his passion for this tour! Thank You. If we didn’t take this tour we wouldn’t have learned all about these places and their history! Bravo
It was very informative and gave us a good overview of the city. Highly recommend. Our guide Luis was great. We rally enjoyed our morning walk.
We enjoyed thoroughly enjoyed our walking tour of Porto. I highly recommend taking the tour. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable and we learned so much about the area and the history that you could not learn but walking around on your own. We especially enjoyed the Stock Exchange building. Don’t miss it!
Terrible experience onerous process to pay long lineups can’t move when inside
It was a lovely experience. It was just my fiancé and I, so it was pretty much like a private tour. Our tour guide Luiz was amazing. He was very informative and also gave us some food and restaurant recommendations. I would high recommend booking a tour with him. And I highly suggest to go with a tour guide to see these sights as there are no boards that tell you the history or information of the church, stock exchange, and book store. Hope this helps. Enjoy your stay at Porto!
Our guide, Fernando, was very engaging! He made the church visit interesting. The ballroom at the end of the tour of the stock exchange building was spectacular! We learned a lot and enjoyed our time with him.
Luiz Fernando is an amazing tour guide! Took his time to thoroughly explain with passion various historical facts. We have attended multiple tours in the past and this tour truly stands out. Again, highly recommending this tour!
Enjoyable tour! Super friendly and knowledgeable. Welcomed questions and kept things interesting. Would absolutely recommend this tour.
Luis was an incredible tour guide. It was the perfect tour- only about 3 hours a ton of information and walking. great tips on the city and where to eat and drink- loved it!
Fernando was very knowledgeable about the locations we visited. My wife and I were they only two on the tour. He was engaging and enthusiastic about the tour
I had the chance to visit Lello Bookstore at a time when it hadn’t yet become one of the city’s major tourist attractions. Back then, the experience was completely different: you stepped into a space dedicated first and foremost to books, where you could be absorbed by the beauty of the place and by the quiet that only true book lovers can appreciate. Today, unfortunately, the atmosphere has changed dramatically. Mass tourism has turned the bookstore into a mainly visual attraction, a place to be checked off a list rather than a refuge for readers. Many visitors seem to have no real connection to the idea of a bookstore, and the authentic spirit has faded away. The book selection is surprisingly modest and, for the most part, unappealing, which only reinforces the feeling that the place has lost much of its cultural substance. Everything has been overshadowed by the craze of mass tourism and the superficiality brought by social media and the internet. It still remains, of course, an impressive architectural space, but for those who knew it differently, the aftertaste is a bitter one: yet another cultural symbol turned into a site of quick consumption.
The tour guide was very good. He took us through rhe cathedral, Lello bookstore and stock exchange surpassing the lines at each location. All 3 buildings were quite beautiful! The tour guide provided info on each. I highly recommend this tour and tour guide!
Our guide was very charming, knowledgeable and enthusiastic, thank you so much! Our guide was very helpful and gave us a wonderful tour of the station as well which was much appreciated!
“The impressive Palácio da Bolsa, with its detailed architecture, offers a spectacular view of the Sé, thanks to the professional guide’s insightful explanations.”
This tour was fantastic. Our guide Louis was the BEST! Very knowledable and pasionate about the tour. The best way to see Lello is this tour. No waiting in the very, very long lines. There were so many great views of the city along the way. A great overview of Porto!
The price paid is not worth the visit The staircase and the facade of the palace are very beautiful, but I was disappointed
Absolute recommendation! We have been on many city tours, but this one surpassed everything. Our guide Christina led us through the city with so much exciting insider knowledge. It was never boring for a second, and individual questions were addressed perfectly. Thank you for this unforgettable experience!”
I visited this bookstore, paying an exorbitant ticket of 15 euros to see 2 very small rooms based on the suggestion of Harry Potter. I also discovered that the staircase that would seem to have inspired Rowling is actually not even made of wood, but of plaster. It is simply a commercial operation that is absolutely not worth visiting, unless it is free; upon leaving, you really have the feeling of having been used. Better to spend the money on something else.
Everything was handled very informal. Having paid and booked I was changed time of the event and one of the places to know was not available
We received a lot of interesting information about the three sights visited but also about Porto in general. Super sympathetic and accomplished guide!
My visit to the Stock Exchange Palace in Porto was impressive in a word. So much pomp and circumstance. From interior pieces to ceilings, painting galleries and windows, through which the light falls beautifully.
Very interesting, informative and just nice!! Highly recommended, suitable for family and for couples nesting well.
