Long day, but a great day. Pedro was awesome. Got to experience different slices of a very large Geres region. Lunch was tasty and Pedro happily stopped for caffeine refills.
Bruno was great and was the only tour responsive super late, last minute, the night before we wanted to go (I think we also got lucky that someone else cancelled). Bruno was super nice, friendly, spoke great English and was incredibly knowledgeable about the park, and really ALL of northern Portugal. He was happy to cater to our interests and took us too an incredibly beautiful swimming hole in the mountains. The hike up was not easy, but definitely worth it if you are physically capable. I felt safe the whole time.
Our national park tour with Bruno was the highlight of our trip to Portugal! He was an excellent guide, making the experience both fun and informative. We enjoyed stunning views throughout, and the tour offered a perfect balance of hiking and sightseeing. Bruno’s enthusiasm and knowledge added so much to the trip. Highly recommend this tour for anyone looking to explore the park with a great guide!
Really great time exploring Geres national park with Ricardo! He took us around to some great views and beautiful crystal clear water. Lunch was at a small local restaurant and one of the best on our trip! I 100% recommend this trip! Remember to bring good hiking shoes (I wore my trail running shoes, which worked well). And if you want to swim, a swimsuit and towel (I forgot a towel - Ricardo bailed me out there and had one!)
My partner and I booked a tour to Geres with Trek Portugal, Bruno was our guide. He shared lots of fun history of the natural area and the wolves. We talked about the land and the trees as we hiked up to the overlook, then Bruno led us back into the hills to a pristine swimming hole for a swim and a picnic. On the way back we saw the wild horses in the meadow and got some more history of the local villages and the wolves. It was a great time and I would book again with these guys.
My wife and three kids had a terrific experience exploring the national park with Bruno as our guide. Bruno provided great insight on the area and broader region/country and blended in seamlessly with our family. The amazing swimming holes helped everyone cool off from the hot summer temperatures and were definitely the highlight. Overall, great trip and guide!
You’ll regret not taking this tour with Bruno. With it being a small group, we were completely able to customize the trip with our 4 month old baby. Bruno knew exactly where to take us and I don’t feel like we missed anything, despite having a baby. We saw multiple water holes we got to swim in, great view points, amazing lunch and Bruno was so knowledgeable and passionate about the area! 5 stars! Highly recommended
We debated about doing this tour or just heading to the park on our own to hike around and we are so glad that we made the choice to do this guided tour. I’m sure it is a night and day difference. We learned so much about the area - the culture, the language, the history, the geography, you name it. Bruno took us to small villages, great short hikes and vistas, and a restaurant with excellent food and atmosphere. Highly recommended, we never would have had such an experience on our own.
Bruno and Ricardo were knowledgeable guides who were kind, flexible and professional. They were timely and they saw to our every need. We couldn’t have asked for better weather, scenery or guides. Thank you, Bruno and Ricardo!
We had a great day touring Peneda-Geres with Bruno. He picked us up directly from our guesthouse and took us on an almost 9 hour tour. You couldn't ask for a more knowledgeable guide. Bruno is an expert on the history, geography, nature, and the people of the region. He explained how the locals have lived in the region for centuries, shepherding their flocks, watering their land from mountain canals, and now conserving nature. We made many stops with hikes along the way. Highlights included an ancient Roman bridge, an ingenious trap for funneling wolves, several waterfalls, and a vantage over much of the park. There's no way visitors traveling independently could hope to see and learn as much as Bruno showed us. Excellent value. The restaurant you stop in for lunch is a bit pricey, so travelers on a budget might want to choose the picnic lunch option.
I have never enjoyed a tour as much as I enjoyed this tour. Ricardo was amazing as a tour guide. He took us all over the park. He had us hiking in beautiful places. He took us to the cathedrals in Sao Bento, which were gorgeous. And he had us laughing and enjoying ourselves the entire day. He was a tremendous amount of fun and has a wonderful sense of humor. We got very lucky in that there usually are more proof on the tour, but we were the only two. So we had a private tour. One caveat... one part of the description says lunch included, one says lunch is excluded. That needs to be corrected.
A great day exploring Geres national park with our guide Ricardo. Beautiful scenery, mountains and waterfalls. Enjoyed some short scenic walks and wading in the lake.
Beautiful views of the Park with an amazing swim at a waterfall. Ricardo was a great guide and very knowledgeable. My kids (22,20 and 17) loved the hike and the tour of the park ended up being one of their favorite things.
Great local guide with knowledge of the area, culture, and history. It is a great way to see something other than a big city. Geres Park is near both Portugal and Spain's border, so the area has a lot of history and beauty.
Our family had the great pleasure of experiencing the beauty and history of Geres with Ricardo. He was a very caring and warm person and we enjoyed his company very much. Our lunch was at a quaint restaurant and was delicious. Especially the delicious liquor made by the owners. Yum! Thank you Ricardo
Francisco was great. Knowledgeable and knew all the perfect spots to take us. The park was breathtaking.
This was a highlight of our trip to Portugal. Bruno, our guide and driver, was interesting, passionate, knowledgeable, safe, and fun. He showed us great highlights of the park, took us to a local restaurant for an incredible lunch, introduced us to an almost empty swimming lagoon, and shared his infectious passion for this beautiful national park. I highly recommend taking this tour.
Amazing reserve, Beautiful mountains and lake. Brono our guide was kind and Pleasant, Very professional, has a lot of knowledge. It begins with a sunny day, traveling, walking, clean air, and a lot of quiet. Just what we need. One of the best day of my life . Thank you brono.
Bruno was an excellent host who went above and beyond to arrange a tailor-made experience and show me the best sites within and around Gerês National Park. It was undoubtedly a highlight of my trip and I would totally recommend it. We visited stunning spots and shared stories. An incredible day!
Even though we were very unlucky with the temperature (raining all day) our guide Ricardo did an amazing job, showing us nice spots, and adapting the hikes to the weather. The ride was very confortable, the food excellent in a small typical restaurant. The park is beautiful! We saw some wild horses :) I definitely recommend! Une très belle journée malgré un temps Pluvieux !
A really great tour, allowing us to see a fascinating part of Portugal that wouldn’t otherwise have been accessible by public transport.
Ricardo Costa gave my wife and I a great personalized tour of Geres National Park. He knows his way around and we took our time without a rush. Saw interesting sites. Had a leisurely lunch at a small local restaurant in a small village. I recommend him to anyone who wishes to see the countryside. Five stars!!
My sister and I had great time discovering the park with Bruno. Beautiful landscapes, chill ride, walk and lunch learning all the area's secrets.
Awesome trip. Hiking & driving through the park and tons of waterfalls. Traditional, local Portuguese lunch. Bruno is the best!
Excellent experience. Bruno was very professional in organizing our trip. His tour was set up with expert knowledge of the area. The tour speaks of his and his company’s love of the nature of Portugal. Our guide, Ricardo was phenomenal. He was amazing with our young son and was fluent in all the languages of our party. Lunch was unbelievable and consisted of an entire table of local food and wine that was produced on site. We were able to walk ancient Roman roads that-only a few locals still walk. It was quite a memorable experience
Bruno picked me up at my accommodation, which was very comfortable! With little stops for coffee and views we nearly needed three hours to the point were we startet to hike. The landscape is amazing! We hiked about 1,5 hours. The lunch we had at an restaurant in a small village was great! Fantastic local food! In total it was a great day with amazing views! Although I would have preferred to walk or hike more instead of driving to different locations in Geres. But this is my personal opinion!
We thoroughly enjoyed our day trip to the Geres National park with Bruno, who was extremely professional and knowledgeable. His passion for the national park really showed during our time spent with him. The day was definitely a highlight of our three week trip in Portugal and Spain! We enjoyed a morning hike, came across wild animals in the park, visited a waterfall that is not on the tourist map (in fact I checked and it's not even on google maps) and enjoyed a wonderful local lunch. Bruno also took photos and go-pro footage during the day and sent us a link for download after the day trip - such exceptional service and thoughtfulness really sets him apart from other operators!
We met Bruno for a visit to the Geres natural park. We spent extraordinary moments in silence, immersed in nature, among the less traveled paths that only the local inhabitants know about. We also learned about the culture and life of those who are there every day. Bruno was punctual, attentive to our every request and respectful of our times and needs. A truly pleasant climate of knowledge and sharing was created in which telling stories became enriching. Thanks so much Bruno. We hope to rely on you again soon for other new adventures!
Consigliata!
A mix of walking and discovering wonderful places. Ricardo was great, generous of his time and gave us a lot of information. Dinner in the local restaurant was delicious. Swimming at the falls was refreshing on this beautiful sunny day. We really enjoyed our day. Thank you Ricardo
We were picked up by our guide Bruno in the morning at the hotel in Porto and then drove to the national park. Please put on sturdy footwear!! No sandals, flip flops or anything like that. The drive took about an hour and a half, then we parked in a small parking lot in the mountains. We each got a small bottle of water from him and then we started. Walking over stick and stone, ever closer to the rocks. In the end we had to climb over the rocks, climb through small gorges and were rewarded with a fantastic view over this part of the national park. On the descent we passed two semi-wild cows forgotten by farmers. Back at the parking lot Bruno drove us through the mountains, showed us many lakes and impressive viewpoints. The ancient Roman road with old, stone, round mileage displays is just as impressive as the football field in the middle of the mountain and the numerous views. For a late lunch we went to Casa do Criado near Ermida. Absolutely delicious, authentic Portuguese food. Highly recommended! Bruno then showed us more hotspots of the mountain world, including many waterfalls and great lagoons. Unfortunately we could not bathe, because it was a bit too fresh for us in December at 15 degrees. Bruno patiently explained all the special features and everything we wanted to know. Finally, we visited the charming mountain village of Fafião, where wolves used to be hunted. Again, there are many great photo motifs, very nice inhabitants and lots of animals. From here we watched the sunset and then headed back to the hotel. On the way Bruno stopped at some nice spots from where you could photograph the mountains at dusk. After 11 hours we arrived at our hotel totally knocked out but super happy. We had a very nice, eventful day in the national park with many wonderful impressions and photos. Many thanks to Bruno, who is a very experienced, nice guide, and does his job with body and soul.
