There is a lot of climbing to be done. The Fado show was good, but to our surprise, did not include the dinner. We had to walk some distance to the restaurant where dinner was provided. Dinner comprised of a glass of red wine (no substitute) and a few light pork dishes. We had to pay for dessert ourselves. I gave it two stars because Daniel, our guide was nice

I went on the Fado Tour with my friends, and we had a wonderful evening in Porto. The guide was friendly and shared interesting stories about Portuguese culture and Fado music. The dinner was delicious, and the live Fado performance was beautiful and very emotional. It was a unique experience and a great way to discover an important part of Portugal's traditions. Thank you 'The Walking Parrot'. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Porto.
Amazing experience! The tour was very well organized and gave us a great introduction to Porto's culture and history. The dinner was delicious, and the live Fado performance was beautiful and emotional. The guide was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the evening even more enjoyable. What seemed like a simple tour turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. I highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Porto and wanting an authentic taste of Portuguese culture.
The Fado Tour was excellent!! The music was marvelous and the history of the Fado was super interesting. The guide was nice and dynamic, and teach us lots of things. I really recommend this tour!
Taking the Fado tour in Porto with our guide Daniele was one of the best experiences of our trip. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and took us to authentic local spots we would have never discovered on our own. The Fado performance was very moving, and trying traditional food and wine in small local places made the whole evening feel relaxed and genuine.
The tour on October 14 was scheduled to begin at 7PM at the Fonte do Cubo. I arrived at about 6:30. No guide. No other participants. I contacted the company at about 7:20 and, as it was getting dark and, 78 and alone, I walked up the hill to find a taxi. I then received a text from the guide saying they would arrive in a few minutes, but it was too late for me. The tour company falsely claims that the guide was there all along and won't give me a full refund. This was my first/only visit to Portugal and I never experienced Fado.
Our Fado show was exceptional. Although I only understood a few words, I was able to truly feel all the emotion from the performers. Our guide was very kind, thoughtful, and passionate about the music and the beautiful city. He introduced us to some incredible traditional dishes I would not have otherwise tried on my own
Unfortunately I was the only one on the tour and I would have preferred to have known this at the time as I probably would have cancelled . The Fado show was fantastic, heartfelt and engaging. Dinner was after the show at another place so it was late eating and all that was served were 3 small tapa style dishes and a glass of wine. So definitely would not recommend paying for this tour if you expect what is offered in the description which is a 3 course dinner, entree, main and desert. My guide was lovely and knowledgeable but the whole idea was to be in a group experience.
We had a great evening learning about fado from our guide, Emilia. We had expected a small group so were surprised to find it was just the two of us (plus Emilia). We started with a short walking tour around the Ribeira district. We then went to the venue where we had one of the nicest meals of our trip. Three courses with very generous portions plus beer or wine. The fado performances were excellent. Emilia explained the backstories and lyrics, which added to our understanding. However, if not looking for the extra background and detail, you could easily book a fado show and dinner directly with a fado house without going via a 3rd person tour company like this.
Taking the Porto Fado tour was an unforgettable experience for me in Porto! This trip not only evoked all my senses, but also allowed me to experience the charm and poetry of Portuguese culture. I highly recommend this trip for an in-depth exploration of Porto and the essence of Portuguese culture!
Fodo tour with guide, dinner & live show in Porto, it was a really incredible wrap! Such a wonderful experience to have the walking parrot as our travel partner.
The Fado Tour with Guide, Dinner & Live Show in Porto was an unforgettable evening full of music and delectable cuisine! Highly recommend this tour for anyone seeking to explore Porto's musical history!
Give Emelia a raise! She was great guide and provided a lot of useful information on the city. She was helpful, enthusiastic, answered all our questions and stuck with us the whole time. Fado was absolutely fantastic and memorable and a great way to end our last night in Porto. The restaurant chosen was delicious. I thought I hated seafood but this restaurant changed my mind. Im glad I chose this tour.
We had a wonder evening with a walk in Porto, dinner and a Fado show with Manuela!! She had a fabulous knowledge of history, the area and was so much fun!! We are hoping to enjoy her company again!!
This was our first visit to Porto and we were only there for a day. The evening with our guide Manuela was a perfect mixture of an informative guided tour followed by a delicious dinner and a fado show. Manuela was lively and entertaining as she shared the history of the Porto area. During the Fado show, she was able to translate the lyrics of the emotional haunting fado. We felt we were treated to a cultural experience we will not soon forget. We want to come back and stay longer the next time!
Excellent experience. Daniela was engaging and knowledgeable about Fado. On the walk to the Fado venue she told us about the history and what to expect regarding Fado, as well as spicing the conversation up with anecdotes about the area in Porto we were in. During the concert (not really a concert, but with Fado you pay attention) she wrote out the lyrics and during breaks translated the songs for us. You can enjoy fado without this but this tour is well worth it.
It was a great experience! Daniela did a great job exposing us to Fado and translating the music for us We had a great time!
Daniella was an excellent guide. Knowledgeable, enthusiastic and went the extra mile to interpret the meaning of the fado stories. Highly recommend her as your guide.
A very enjoyable evening walk, learning the history of Fado followed by a lovely dinner and then the Fado, performed by a male and female singer. Joanna was very knowledgable and brought the history of Fado (and Portugal) to life.
It was a wonderful evening! Everything was well organized and I enjoyed the Fado music so much. I also liked that we got a lot of information about the Fado and about Porto itself. It was all fun with the group together, I really enjoyed it!
I absolutely loved it! Fado music is so beautiful on its own but this company provided me with great company and unforgettable moments. Worth every cent! I recommend it to everyone who enjoys a great night with beautiful music and fun people.
This tour was absolutely wonderful. We learned so much about fado and Portugal in general and had delicious dinner accompanied by the sounds of mesmerizing fado. It was an evening to remember. 100% recommend!
From the start, the guide did not know where to go for the fado show. We had to go to 3 different places and were turned away each time to finally find the right place where the show was playing. Once the show was over, the circus started all over again for the restaurant. The first restaurant owner was clearly not aware of the "reservation," another restaurant agreed to host us but it took 10 minutes of negotiations to reach an agreement on the "menu," in the end instead of a full dinner, we were offered a very simple dish. The company made a mockery of us from start to finish. All of this clearly lacks professionalism. Avoid at all costs! From the very start, the "guide" didn't know where to go for the fado show. We had to go to 3 different locations and got rejected every time to finally find a location where the fado show was taking place. Once the show ended, the nonsense started again for the restaurant. The first restaurant manager had no clue about our "reservation," then another restaurant manager agreed to have us eat at the restaurant but 10 minutes of negotiation were needed to agree on a "menu." In the end, instead of a full course dinner, we were offered a simple dish. The company clearly made fun of us from beginning to end and totally lacked professionalism. Run away!
At first my booking was canceled, but not until I had arrived at the meeting place and waited for the guide. I had spent 30 minutes walking to the meeting place. However, I was booked for the next night. I was expecting to be at dinner with Fadomusik. This was not the case. First I had to meet down by the river, far from where the Fadoshow was. Then go up steep streets to the concert, which lasted for an hour, where we got a glass of porto. After that again a walk up the hill to a restaurant where I got 3 small dishes(not a whole-right menu with prep, main dish and dessert) and a glass of wine. Really not an experience that lives up to the description of a walk followed by a Fadoshow and dinner. The concert was fine enough, but the dinner I could well be in addition serely since it was not at the same time as the music. However, the guide Flávio was very kind and thoughtful and accompanied me all the way. He also accompanied me to my apartment so I didn't have to walk through the city alone in the evening. 5 stars for him. I would not recommend this trip.
Harold Kohn came with us. Arrived 15 minutes before Harold came to pick us up, he shared his culture of the place, was always kind to us making sure we lacked nothing and with the will to satisfy us all the time. Here we are well above the norm .... To recommend absolutely and without hesitation
