It is a very informative trip and the whole experience is well worth it from the onset til the end. Our guide Antonio and the driver were considerate, especially since I tend to get carsick. They made sure I sat up front. We stopped at a scenic spot on the way home and took a Fun Picture of the group. I would say it is a MUST if you want to see a beautiful functioning winery and eat some wonderful food.

The Douro Valley was truly so beautiful! Our tour guide Maria took us on a charming 1/2 day adventure that left me in awe of our surroundings as well as relaxed and happy. The small family winery where we had brunch felt like something out of movie. Our hosts were so warm and friendly it felt like we were old friends coming for a Sunday visit. The wine was incredible as was the food that seemed to keep coming. They even accommodated for some on our tour who had dietary restrictions. The 1-hour cruise offered amazing views and total relaxation on the water. Highly recommend this tour!
Our trip took about 7 hours, which was the right length for us. The winery where we had brunch was beautiful-I’m not sure the winery produces any of its “own” wine (their vines died and the new ones are very young), but the grounds are scenic and the wine provides was plentiful. We also enjoyed the Porto tonic. The boat ride was also very pleasant. The small group size allowed for more conversation and ensured that the trip did not seem like the highly commercialized bus tour we took to Sintra. A nice experience overall.
Amazing tour with a beautiful tasting/lunch and cruise. Highly recommend!
Great experience with tour guide Juan who gave us lots of information & fun facts about wine making & the beautiful Douro valley Vivienne & Gerry
Amazing tour George our guide was fantastic. Every thing was well planned and delivered. The vineyard was beautiful staff were amazing with generous tastings of wine offered
Really great experience to go into the Duoro valley and gain an understanding of the origins of port. A lovely lunch meeting some great people and very well hosted. Finished off with a 1hr boat trip.
This was a lovely trip & we really enjoyed it. So nice to visit a small, independent & forward looking new business for the wine tasting, where the snacks and the wine were both delicious, and our hosts were friendly, charming and entertaining. Comfy mini-bus ride and the views & scenery throughout the day were stunning.
Great trip and guide. Boat trip was fantastic
This was the perfect way to enjoy a leisurely afternoon touring the scenic Douro Valley and its many wineries. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable. Our winery hosts were truly inviting. The day ended with a relaxing river cruise. If you're looking for a way to experience the Douro Valley in one day, I would highly recommend.
So fun loved the experience and our guide was wonderful. Nice small group and lovely to avoid crowds.
Great experience the views are incredible and the winery and brunch was perfect. We highly recommend this tour
Our tour guide Carla was so charismatic and knowledgeable! My family was so impressed with the tour!
We had a lovely day visiting the Duoro River valley in a small group with George as our guide (and van driver). George was informative and fun - and made sure one member of our group got a lot of birthday love.
By far my favorite adventure while in Porto. The guide was kind and informative and the nature of the very small group experience will not be forgotten. Love Porto.💗 Rebecca Butt
This is a very pleasant tour. The tour starts with an hour and a half drive to the winery in a very nice car. Our hostess at the winery was very pleasant and gave us an interesting talk about how wine is made. We had light snacks with our wine tasting. Afterwards we cruised the river and then were transported back to our original meeting place in Porto. In total the tour lasted about 7 hours. Perfect!
It is a minimum 1.5-2 hour drive to the Douro Valley area and back to Porto, so much of this tour is in the minivan. We saw one vineyard, which was lovely, and we tasted one white, one red, and white, tawny and ruby port but minimal snacks were provided (pack some for this outing). The boat ride was serene and it was good to see the terraced vineyards from the river point of view. I would suggest taking motion sickness medication as it can be twisty on some of the narrow, curvy roads.
It was an awesome experience, it was beyond our expectations. Our guide was great. Recommend this tour!!
This trip was the highlight of our Porto mini break. Our driver, Juan was really friendly, informative and great fun. We had an exceptionally warm welcome from Jose and his family at the vineyard, Casa Da Quinta Do Cabo, a beautiful location surrounded by vineyards. The wine tasting was wonderful and was accompanied by a table full of delicious canapés (cold meats and cheeses). We then headed off for a gentle 1 hour boat trip on the Douro river. I really recommended this trip.
We had an amazing time on this tour. The staff were all incredibly kind. Each segment of the tour was well informed and a beautiful experience. We hope to be back one day!
The tour of the winery was very informative and the wine tasting was fabulous. The food boards paired very well with the wine tastings. The rest of the trip was spectacular. The views were breath taking.
Not what we were expecting 1) we had a driver not a guide - this was not a learning experience about Douro valley and wine production 2) winery appears to be chosen because of the relationship with the driver as opposed to an illustration of the quality of wine produced in Douro 3) No education provided on the boat ride just bad wine and peanuts 4) description of tour very misleading - there was no mention of 3 hour drive on motorway While the individuals hosting were all lovely people, we expected more from the tour in terms of education and quality. We did the 5 port tasting tour the night before this tour and it was excellent.
Great trip, great wine, great fun. Lovely vineyard and host. Fabulous nibbles and tasters on to top it all off. Fantastic
Have wanted to go, but didn’t want a 10 hr trip. This was perfect! Saw the beautiful valley, had great wine, oil, bread and olives at an authentic winery. The boat ride was so relaxing and beautiful. Great trip and driver!
This was an unforgettable tour. Our guide Sworn was so lively and knowledgeable about wine and the region. The wine tasting was superb not only with three different types of wine, but the original olive oil, olive paste, homemade jams, and freshly made bread, made the experience so amazing! Our guide even performed Fado music for us! The boat ride on the Duro river was magnificent with scenery on both sides of the river.
From the moment we met our guide Juan, we knew this day would be special — but we had no idea just how unforgettable it would become. Juan didn’t just guide us through the Douro Valley… he welcomed us into his world. He shared honest, heartfelt stories from his life, told with such sincerity that you can’t help but feel connected to him as a person, not just a guide. At one point, he even took out his guitar and played for us — a moment so unexpected and beautiful that it felt like the kind of memory you hold onto forever. He also curated a playlist that reflected all of our music tastes, and listening to it together while cruising down the Douro made the entire valley feel even more magical. We were also lucky enough to meet two incredible women on the tour, a mother and daughter — D & B— who added even more joy to the day. If this is what heaven feels like, I’d never want to leave. Juan is truly one of a kind. Kind, genuine, talented, and so passionate about what he does. He made us feel cared for, and welcomed. Honestly, he should be part-owner of the company — he represents it with such heart and pride. Meeting him meant more to us than he knows. The wine tastings themselves were amazing. Every winemaker we met was eager to share their knowledge and passion. The love and patience they pour into the wine-making process gave us a whole new appreciation for every glass. If you are considering this tour — GO. I cannot recommend it highly enough. This wasn’t just a tour; it was an experience that made a lasting memory. Until next time — obrigada. 💛🍷
This was a truly outstanding experience. Juan was a fantastic guide—fun, engaging, and incredibly knowledgeable about wine, food, and Portuguese traditions. It was honestly one of the best travel experiences I’ve ever had. I loved it so much that I wish I could go again tomorrow! Highly recommended.
So glad I booked this experience! A half day was perfect to see the Duoro Valley, we were shown some amazing views and a great winery, there was a fun boat ride to break up the trip and see the area from a new perspective, and all through it we had an amazing guide, Maria, who was informative and fun. Highly recommend!
We opted for the half day guided tour to Douro Valley after lunch during our stay in Porto. Miguel did a great job introducing the group to the area. Quinta da Fonte do Milho Vineyard was a first stop with lots of time to enjoy tastings, conversation, and beautiful views. The 1 hour Douro River ride was next where we really enjoyed our local guides and a chance to find out more about the place. We ended back in Porto around 7:30 in time for a walk and a snack. Great Day
The experience was great. The views are magical, and our tour guide Miguel was very charismatic, insightful and helpful.
This was a great tour. The winery was amazing! Angelo, our tour guide was so incredible! He was funny, kind and filled with knowledge about the area. I highly recommend this tour.
Excellent option if you want only half day in Douro Valley, tour departure in the afternoon was pretty convenient. We travelled with a baby and our guide Rui was always asking if we needed anything, made things a lot easier! Highly recommended
Great for a half day tour! It was just enough to experience the Douro Valley and get back to Porto. Highly recommend if you are looking for a shorter option.
We didn't have time for a full day tour so the half-day worked great. We visited Elizabeth's winery and had a blast. We also visited Amarante, a small historical city close to Porto and had some green wine and rustic ham. It was a great tour all around for anyone looking for the half-day experience
All in all a good tour. I've been to the full day Douro Tour (the usual - tastings, boat ride and lunch) and could compare the experience to the shorter version. You get the best of Douro Valley - the views (that's what you want there! You don't see the whole beauty from the boat), the tastings, a snack. Time-wise perfect. We really loved Elizabeth's vineyard - much, MUCH better experience than visiting the large wineries/port makers on the other tours. That alone was one of our highlights in Porto. What I do need to comment on is, however, our guide/driver. Don't get me wrong - he's open-hearted and friendly. But we didn't get any explanations about the area, it's history, traditions etc - just a personal chat about his family, places they lived at, how it's his side job and so on. Most of the time (Elizabeth's vineyard being an exception) there was no context to what's happening. When we came to Amarante we were left with no instructions on what's nice to see or how much time we have. At some point our guide just disappeared, leaving the group wondering why, where and for how long. Real shame since the area has so much amazing history - even the tiny Amarante is so full of legends, traditions and fun little facts. Again - open and friendly guy, but no information or context whatsoever. Would've been fine for half (or perhaps two-thirds) of the price, but you pay the same or even more than for a full-day tour. Hopefully we were just unlucky. Otherwise value for money is very questionable.
We traveled with a guide Filipe who was fantastic, nice, and explained everything in a good way. We had the chance to be a small group of only 4 people, which was more personal and pleasant. The area is wonderfully beautiful and we had fantastic food and drinks at the vineyard and also a guided tour. Recommended!
We spent a beautiful day excursion in the Douro Valley with Luis, who was funny and friendly from start to finish. He made us laugh a lot, especially when after a breakdown on the highway, he jokingly explained that his engine was French! Mood remained very friendly, and the whole family kept smiling despite this unexpected. We will keep an excellent memory of this outing, mainly thanks to Luis, who made the day unforgettable with his humor and good humor. The group of French and the melon thief 😜
Very nice experience to a small traditional family port maker. The owners were very passionate about their work. Very friendly and highly recommended. Also Maria the tourguide was super friendly and has explained a lot about the area.
