Long drive on a long day but well worth it. Enjoyed the tastings of both table wine and port - informative and varied, great inside look at two smaller vineyards, beautiful scenery, interesting boat ride and lovely lunch. Cannot imagine a better experience than this lovely day in the Douro! Our guide, Sara, was extremely knowledgeable, funny, engaging and professional- she made the tour an A plus. The wineries we visited were interesting and well presented; the lunch, in a typical local restaurant, was great fun- delicious and authentic. The river tour, on what must have been the nicest October day ever, was beautiful, serene, comfortable and memorable. Cannot recommend this tour enough. Thank you, Sara!
Great Douro wine tour with Jose. Informative and enjoyable!
This tour was one of the best experiences traveling we have ever had. Our guide, Nuno, was terrific! He was courteous, kind, knowledgeable and friendly. He had not only a wealth of knowledge but also an entertaining delivery if it. Our group also appreciated his help with entering and exiting the van ( wife was using a cane) and other tricky walking situations. On the excursion, the wine tastings and extra stop were very enjoyable as well. The only criticism we had was the boat ride- could have used some tour commentary and/ or accompanying beverage with it. Nuno did not join us for that part unfortunately. Overall it was a great experience and we would highly recommend it.
This is a fantastic trip where you can enjoy wine, take in the views and relax on a boat trip on the Douro. Felipe, our driver and guide, was friendly and knowledgeable. We were joined by a group of 5 ladies and we had the best day. Wine tasting at a small wine estate, lunch at a local restaurant which was very good, a 50 minute boat trip and then a Port wine tasting at another local estate before heading back to Porto. The Douro valley is stunning and this trip is a great way to experience its scenery and wine.

We were picked up by Filip at the hotel which was perfect. Our day started with a very friendly and humourful guide/ driver, Filip. He has excellent knowledge about his country, wine and how to keep the guests entertained. The trip itself was easy going and one didnt feel like a goat herd. The wine and port wine tasting was good. The tour of the wine making process was detailed and the lady who explained all the wines was very professional. It was a pity that we didnt get a walk through the vineyards. The boat ride was a disappointment. The driver was bored and robotic. A walk through the town there would have been more interesting than such a boat ride. You can skip that ride if you dont have a better boat and a guide who is happy to talk about the valley and it's culture. Filip made our trip worth it all.

We had a wonderful day traveling through the Duoro wine valley with our guide, Sara, who was for sure a highlight of the trip!! We were picked up and dropped off from our hotel, which was extremely convenient, and whisked away in a comfortable van along with a small group (8 total) to experience the beauty and 'fruits' of the Duoro Valley. Sara is so lovely, extremely knowledgable about the region, and she had many connections with the locals and winery folks which made us feel so welcome at each stop. The ride to and from the Valley is about an hour and a half each way- we got to tour/taste/explore at 2 different wineries, took the boat tour (which was simply a ride up and down the river with no commentary- the driver did not join us on the river cruise), and had a lovely Portuguese lunch halfway through the day at an old 'schoolhouse-turned-restaurant' with traditional starters, main dishes, desserts, and more local wine. The two wineries we visited offered very different perspectives of the wine and port making business that exists in the Duoro Valley and the families were very generous with their time and knowledge. We tasted a LOT of different wines and ports and even olive oil from these 2 unique wineries. The Duoro Valley is beautiful and worth seeing!!! We were so lucky to get Sara as our driver for the day, we got to make some new friends on the ride, and feel like this day-trip-tour definitely enhanced our experience of Portugal.
What an amazing day this was and it was the icing on the cake that was my trip to Portugal. After days of walking and exploring, it was lovely to be shuttled around in a comfortable van to wine tastings, lunch and a boat ride. We had an awesome day in douro valley. The wineries were great snd informative. Loved all the wines. Boat trip was fun and relaxing. Lunch was so good and service amazing. Lastly, sarah was an amazing tour guide. Friendly, knowledgeable and lively. She loves her job and her country and shared it with us. Best day in Portugal.
The tour was fantastic! Our tour guide, Philip, went above and beyond…he was extraordinary! He was very personable, informative and helpful! The wine tastings included family-owned winery proprietors that were very knowledgeable, while the scenery at these locations was picturesque. My girlfriend and I also enjoyed our lunch. Since the tour size was so small, we got to know everyone in our group well. We had a one hour river cruise that was lovely, showing the wineries on the rolling hills of the Douro Valley. I highly recommend this tour to those of you that prefer a more intimate experience!

Cooltour really came through on this tour! Everything was exactly as advertised. The wine tastings were excellent, and the homemade gourmet lunch was superb - the lunch exceeded my expectations by far. The boat cruise was very nice, although the boat guide (not from Cooltour) could have added some commentary about the wine estates we were passing along the river. All in all, a magnificent day, and even the weather cooperated! Bravo!

Just a note to say how much we enjoyed the tour on Saturday. The vineyards were in incredible locations and we had a lovely time. The stand out element to the day though was Nuno. What a great guy! So flexible and always giving us the choice of what to do, even showing us places that were not ordinarily part of the tour. His rendition of David Bowie Under Pressure will stay with us forever!
Jose is a delightful guide and communicator. He shares his love for the culture and the wines generously. He was attentive to the individual needs of the participants. The 2 wineries selected represented the products of the Douro well and the presenters were outstanding…especially Yass at Quinta Rumo Silvestre in Sabrosa. The boat tour was cute but unnecessary although it affords you the view of the properties along the Douro.

Porto & the Duoro Valley was our last stop during our magical Portugal girls trip… Alex our tour guide made our last day, tour in the country AMAZING!!! The experience, the wineries, the history, the scenery, the food, the people… just lovely! Alex knew exactly how much he needed to tell us without overstepping if you will the wineries “toes.” He’s super knowledgeable about the area, wine, is cultured and worldly and proud Dad and husband! We did a full day, small group tour to Duoro Valley with CoolTours Porto. Our guide, Pedro, was great and super knowledgeable about Portuguese history and culture. He’s made the 1hr long car ride entertaining. We had multiple stops, first was a coffee/breakfast (not included) in a town with a beautiful cathedral, then we stopped at 2 small, local wineries for tastings and then a group lunch at a local restaurant (included). We also had a short boat trip with more tastings (included). The trip is full day with lots of Port tastings - bring water and maybe a snack!
We had a wonderful day in the Duoro Valley. Nono, our guide became our long lost brother by the end of the day. 4 couples, all strangers at the beginning of our adventure left as if we had been friends for years. Nono made every effort to enhance our joint experience and, when the group threw him a curveball, he knocked it out of the park. This was an exceptional experience and I highly recommend the tour company who put together a marvelous day.

Great expirence in the tour as advertised! Great selection in terms of the winery that we visited, the boat crusie was very nice and nice lunch was provided. The van was spacious and ac wielded perfect. Our guide Filipe was engaging, knowledgeable and funny! Overall I would recommend this private tour and certainly worth the money.
We had the best day with Alvero in the Douro Valley. The pick up was easy and Alvero was super friendly and professional. The whole drive out felt safe and Alvero pointed out many unique view points and shared historical facts. Along the winding roads Alvero stopped to allow us to take photos and he continued to share great information. The day was fabulous and didn’t ever feel rushed. The two wineries were amazing, incredible views and delicious tastings - and all the staff so friendly. The lunch at the old school was so cute and the local cuisine was wonderful! They also accommodated my dietary allergies with no question and I felt safe to enjoy the meal. The river cruise was beautiful! Calm on the water and some more incredible views. The whole trip was great, the company was easy to communicate with and so professional. I would 100% go on another excursion with Cooltour Oporto.

Our guide, Filipe clearly loves this country and is very knowledgeable about the history as well as the relevant facts of the tour and Very engaging with our group. It was a perfect day to fully experience the Douro Valley with the charm and beauty of the small family run estate to start. The river Cruise was scenic with a beauty of its own. We ventured far up into the hills where we were given the opportunity to experience a taste Of the local cuisine. From there we were welcomed into the Estate of Dalva where we were able to taste both white and red aged port wines. The experience was truly memorable.
