Douro Valley Small-group Tour: 2 Wineries, Lunch & Cruise

It’s a great experience and not only do you learn about the Duoro valley, but you’ll connect with people from other cultures and countries. Our guide Antonio was so knowledgeable regarding Port, wine, world history and the history of Portugal in particular. He was so cheerful and gracious. We had a wonderful day and highly recommend this tour.

We are so pleased we chose this small group tour. Just 8 people all day, allowing us to visit small vineyards and receive attentive service, while getting to know the other tourists. Our guide and driver, Emanuel, was excellent - informative, very funny and worked hard to please us, so full marks to him too. We visited a small vineyard, had a 1 hour boat trip, then another vineyard with beautiful restaurant for lunch and more tasting. All round a great day out that we all enjoyed. Highly recommended and well worth the money.

It is a very friendly and well organised tour. A good balance of information without overload. Loved the two vineyards visited - the wine and food was top class. The guide was on time and very helpful. I would definitely recommend this wonderful day in the Douro valley!!

We booked a day tour from Porto to the Douro Valley and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip, largely thanks to our guide Emmanuel. He kept us entertained from start to finish – full of stories, great humour and real knowledge about the region, the wine and the local culture. The time in the van flew by. The quinta we visited was beautiful and the wine tasting was a wonderful experience – well explained, generous and relaxed. Lunch was absolutely amazing, easily one of the best meals we had in Portugal. If you're in Porto, do this tour and request Emmanuel if you can. Five stars without hesitation.

Great experience. The entire tour was amazing. The two famiily farm visits were so welcoming , the traditional Portugal dish was delicious. Our guide Antonio was also very friendly ans kind. We recommend this tour, you won't regret it.

Don’t hesitate! Small intimate group of 8! The wineries were small more boutique which we loved! A lot of wine and delicious lunch as well. Rabelo boat ride was relaxing! Our guide was terrific!

What a memorable day. Going in a small group and experiencing two small very personal wineries, was the best way to visit the Douro region. Our driver and host was Fabio, who was so friendly, passionate and so knowledgeable about both the Douro region and the wineries he took us to. We had a boat cruise up the Douro, had a wonderful lunch and enjoyed the wine tasting!!! Thank you Fabio.

It was an amazing day. Lovely intimate settings, great staff everywhere. Would recommend this trip to anyone looking for a break from the crowds. Scenery was spectacular!

We can highly recommend Emmanuel for the Douro River Vaĺley tour. Great sense of humor and very knowledgable. Apart from the usual road and boat trip he took us to a private off track wine farm where we meet George. Who gave us wine tasting with each course and a cellar tour and sampled Port out of the barrel. In all a very exceptional and very personal tour. We were eight in total

Our guide was Nuno and we had a fantastic day . Nuno was very entertaining knowledge and attentive. The 2 wineries we visited were really good and the passion of the winemakers was remarkable . The scenery ,wine tour wine tasting were superb. Thd Duoro cruise was so chill and scenic Lunch was excellent and the small group of 8 like minded travellers were great to meet and share the experience

Mafalda was an amazing tour guide!!! I had the pleasure of sitting next to her in the front seat and truly enjoyed getting to know her. Since she is a Douro Valley native, I really appreciated hearing her perspective on the region. Plus, of course she kindly had an answer to all of my many questions! We had a great day and I highly recommend this tour.

A wonderful tour- our guide Luis (aka Portuguese Jesus) was born in the Douro Valley & his family still makes wine there so he knew so much about the process & the families. The two wineries we visited were small & family run. We could only purchase wine from the first. We sampled wine/food pairings & had lunch at the second. Food was amazing & plentiful. It was a really personalized experience as one of us was not a wine drinker & they provided for him also. Our group sang all the way home.

We had an excellent trip out to the Douro valley. Excellent driver with great locations and hosts along the way! We were able to taste (in very generous portions) multiple Porto wines with beautiful scenery! The boat ride was an excellent addition to the trip!

There are so many similar tours to choose from , I opted for this one as it seemed a smaller outfit. It proved to be good choice. The wine yards visited were a smaller family run outfit. Both very friendly. They did not skimp on the wine and port ! The quality was also very good. The food was also good. Our guide Emanuel was good humoured and knowledgeable and realy improved the experience. The boat ride was as expected and very relaxing . I would definetly recommend this tour I don't think anyone would be disappointed.

An excellent day trip to experience the Douro Valley; beautiful scenery, relaxing boat trip, exceptional wine tasting with education, and a big lunch with matching wines. This is the best day tour I have been on. Nono, the driver, was exceptional. He has a vast knowledge and love for Portugal and shares it. His language skills are exceptional. The wineries visited were top notch and the lunch was great with lots of wine.

Joao was very knowledgeable and friendly. We learned so much about the Douro Valley and Porto. He was also a great driver on the windy roads. The wineries were small family owned properties and the wines we tasted were excellent. I would highly recommend this tour and Joao as a tour guide.

Mafalda was an excellent guide and a terrific person. She made everyone feel comfortable, laugh, and her exuberance made the day fly by. I could not recommend her or this tour more highly.

So happy we booked this tour! I had read about the Duoro river valley and winneries as a must do when visiting Porto. The country side is gorgeous and our guide (Emanuel) was very knowledgeable, talented and friendly - joking with us regularly! We learned about the history of the area, the bussinesses, drank delicious wine - port and had a fabulous lunch at a family winery tucked away in the mountains. I will never forget this experience and the friendly folks we met along the way. It was a great small tour - supporting small businesses! I was sad when we got dropped off at the end of the day. I highly recommend it!

Phenomenal and an extremely good value for the money. Our guide Carlos was kind, genuine, funny, generous and altogether just a great human being. When you look at what you get and the number of people involved to provide it, this thing is a steal. The excellent meal and the drinks alone would have cost more in a local restaurant. We enjoyed the incredible vistas, the producers on the farm, the kindness, the service and obviously the wines. We went 4 adults and all were very very pleased.

We booked this 2 days prior and got so lucky to have an amazing guide with Nuno Pires. It was a small group of 7 of us and we went to a family organic vineyard 1st, then a wonderful lunch under the trees and our guide arranged a special treat having them show us how a vintage port wine was opened using heat. Then a 50 min cruise up the Pinhao valley and a scenic drive down the N222. We had a fabulous day. Our guide Nuno was so informative with his Google brain and being a local kept up a running dialog of history and facts of the area. He was quick to answer questions so easy to talk to along with a ready smile. Don't miss doing this tour on your visit to Portugal

Had a great time. Our guide Fabio was terrific. The lunch spot overlooking the Duro Valley was gorgeous on the lunch was excellent too. Interesting wines at the wine tastings really enjoyed the wineries. Highly recommend.

This tour was fantastic. Mafalda was a very good and local guide. You cant get a more local guide when her father is catching a fish in Pinhão. We got all our questions answered about Douro wines, local sights and Portugal in general. We chose this tour also for the easy to reach pick-up location at Trindade. That was a hughe benefit for us avoiding the city center. The tour had very good wine selections. Tasting was intetesting and we liked the smaller wine houses. Really amazing and genuine lunch was served in a small back yard before the return home.

You will taste phanomenal produkts from an organic vinery that you cant find on the Internet. And additional superb Olive oil! Our guide Mafalda ist a real sweetheart. She ist cool, funny and informative and makes the day complete.

A very good way to experience the Douro valley in a day if you are strapped for time

Imagine spending a day with friends you did not even know you had. That was our experience with our guide Carla and her wine-making friends. We learned a lot and had a great time.

What a fantastic trip! Value for money, amazing scenery, the best food and wine and Fabio our driver was extremely welcoming, very helpful, and informative! We had lots of questions throughout the day and he was brilliant :) (cheers Fabio!) We recommend this trip it was very romantic and we will definately be back to do it again!

It was a beautiful but long day. When our Uber didn't show up to take us to the meeting point they had someone come and get us. The Douro Valley Tour was not to be missed. The scenery the friendly people at the winery all very welcoming and knowledgeable. Our guide Carla was an absolute delight to spend the day with. But the lunch at Quinta da Laceira was the best, George and his mother out did themselves.

The tour was personalised, with only 2 of us and absolutely superb. No waiting for a tour bus, loads of good conversation and smashing lunch and winery visits. We would 100% recommend it. The quality made this a great day and excellent value.
