David was an amazing host. We booked this last minute and we are so glad we did. The entire tour, the venues, the venue staffs and the entire experience was memorable and exemplary. We had such a great time and cannot believe how well executed everything was. Do yourself favor and if in Porto treat yourself to the all-day wine excursion to the Douro Valley.

Vasco was a wonderful tour guide! It was such a pleasurable experience. We learned about the region as well as the wine. We saw the picturesque vinyards via boat and travele the area via Sprinter van to two wineries. The first winery we tasted 2 wines and 2 ports. I am so much a port wine drinker now! The next vinyard had 6 wine tastings long with a meal. I was fortunate to have a pescatarian meal catered for me and it was wonderful. This is a must see tour. Note: if you have dietary restriction or preferences let the vendor and guide know well before the excursion.

Vascu was a phenomenal guide. We had a wonderful Duoro river cruise where we were given a light apertif of port wine and tonic with tapas. He then escorted us to two vineyards where the somoliers were friendly and provided excellent information on Duoro Valley. They discussed it's history. We tasted and purchased several wines. The meal provided at the second vineyard was perfectly paired with a variety of wines at each stage of the meal. This is an excellent tour. You must not miss it.

This Douro Valley tour was an absolute highlight. David is a fantastic guide—super knowledgeable, fun, and attentive. Because it's a small group, it felt intimate and we really enjoyed getting to know our fellow travelers. We took in stunning regional views, visited two great vineyards, and enjoyed a relaxing river cruise with snacks. To top it all off, the included lunch was beautifully presented and delicious. Really great for couples and solo travelers, getting the right mix of ppl who can enjoy spontaneous conversations and experiences really makes the difference. Really appreciated how much efficiency Rui had to make sure we had extra time to enjoy the views at the various stops, without sacrificing anything on the schedule. Very knowledgable and even more friendly!

We had the best day in the Douro Valley with José! Really recommend this tour. The scenery is incredible. The wine is beautiful, the vineyard great and lunch delicious. The boat tour was fabulous with really great local guides and an expertly mixed port tonic! The snacks were great too. We are lucky to live somewhere beautiful and have travelled a bit but the scenery in the Douro was just amazing. José was a great guide - really interesting and knowledgeable. With excellent tips and recommendations for the rest of our time in Porto. He made sure our group got on really well and even left us all together back at a beautiful bar in Porto - for more port tonics! Highly recommend.

My friends and I loved this experience! It was a great way to get a taste of the Duoro Valley. We even got to take an extra stop in another small town on the way back.

Our guide, José, was excellent, and we loved the small-group setting of this Douro Valley tour. We really enjoyed the other travelers in our group, and José did a wonderful job of bringing everyone together and creating a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. He was knowledgeable and engaging, sharing not only the history and culture of the region but also insights into some of the issues facing modern Portugal. He encouraged conversation, was easygoing and personable, and kept everything running smoothly while making sure everyone was comfortable and safe. My favorite part of the day was the boat ride along the Douro River. The scenery was absolutely stunning, and with only one other small group joining us, the experience felt peaceful and intimate rather than like mass tourism. In fact, avoiding an overcrowded, touristy experience was one of the main reasons I chose this particular tour, and it really delivered in that respect. The garden lunch was also enjoyable, and the food was very good. My one suggestion would be to improve the setting. Given the spectacular scenery of the Douro Valley, it would have been wonderful to dine somewhere with a view, or at least in a particularly attractive garden. Instead, the setting felt more like a simple backyard, with our feet on bare dirt. The food was good, but the ambiance didn't quite match the rest of the experience. Interestingly, my family isn't particularly interested in wine, yet this tour turned out to be one of the highlights of our entire trip to Portugal. Between the beautiful scenery, the intimate boat experience, the wonderful group dynamics, and José's excellent guiding, it was a truly memorable day. I would highly recommend it, even to travelers who aren't especially interested in wine!

Full day of traveling. 3hrs in the van mixed with boat excursion and winery visits

This was an amazing, full day tour of the Douro valley and wine region. Our guide was Rui and he was incredibly knowledgeable as well as full of fun. Note: we have booked numerous Viator tours and each time we were separated from our friends. If you want to ensure your group stays together, have one person book all the tickets.

What a fantastic day we had with the wonderful Luis as our guide. He is very knowledgeable and good fun and made us all feel very at ease. This was a small group of 7 so felt very personal. We had 11 different wines/ports over the day, so no shortage of tasting opportunities 😆. Great lunch, with plenty of food, especially if you like pork and veal. The short boat trip, just for the 7 of us gave us another perspective of the Douro valley from the river. Great day out!

This was a relatively small group (three couples) traveling in a Mercedes van -- if there are four couples, I would expect the drive to have been somewhat uncomfortable/packed, but with six plus the driver (Vasco, who was also our guide), it was very spacious. Vasco is an excellent guide and a super driver. It's a 80-90 min drive from Porto to Douro. Upon arrival, there is a boat trip (with approx 12 guests) for around 75-80 min. Personally, I feel this can be shorter, with more time for a more complete visit to the second vineyard. The visit to the first vineyard was quite nice. The second one, mixed together with some basic intro, lunch, etc made it less focused on the vines I felt. Overall, a good trip.

Good trip out to the Douro valley. Guide Alex was knowledgeable and friendly. As expected the scenery was spectacular and the port wine tasting excellent. Special thumbs up to Joao at Beijo winery, he was awesome. One downside was the food as we seemed to have been forgotten and when it did arrive it was cold. The wines were good though. Don't be fooled by three stars - a lot was out of the guide's control.

Our guide, Vasco, was knowledgeable, personable, thoughtful, engaging and respectful. He quickly cultivated a family from a group of strangers. We not only learned about the wine of the Douro Valley, but also so much about the history of Portugal and its culture. The wine was amazing, as was the food and the scenery- the boat ride was gorgeous , too. The “surprise visit” to Amarante topped off an unforgettable day. Don’t miss this experience!
