He shared fascinating information about the region, its history, while making sure the three of us felt comfortable and enjoyed every part of the day. We had booked a Douro valley half day tour with Meridian4people. We were a group of 8 adults and 2 kids. We were extremely well taken care of by our tour guides starting with comfy vehicles, flexible itineraries for the kids, best food / wine recommendations. The guides were helpful, polite and pleasant. They made our experience very memorable.

João Jesus was our guide. He was very friendly and incredibly knowledgeable about the wineries, the local sights, Portuguese history, etc. The lunch was so special. This was a great value and convenient. João picked us up from our hotel. This is a must go-to tour to experience the wine country.

My husband, son and myself had a wonderful Cultural experience with Alfredo today. He drove us to Douro Vally where we sipped wine and tasted olive oil at D'Origem winery with an absolutely breathtaking view of the vineyards. Alfredo went above and beyond to make our day special and to make sure we saw all the beautiful sites on our drive. He was very knowledgeable about the area. We ate the most amazing local portuguese meal at a restaurant he took us to. Sorry I cant remember the name. We felt safe and comfortable the whole drive. He is a good driver and has a ton of personality. We will definitely ask for him again when we come back. We had a perfect day! A 10 for sure.

Full Day tour with João to the Douro Valley was an absolutely spectacular experience!!! It was a private tour with just my husband and I . João gave a us a day to remember for the rest of our lives . We had a stop at a beautiful town called Amarante. The winery tasting he chose was amazing , wine, and view. Then he asked us what we preferred for lunch, asked him where he would go? João brought us to a quaint restaurant with an amazing view. They were packed with locals, and we were the only tourists , so let me tell you the food was delish!!!!!! Then we he took us to another famous Port winery and had another tasting with a sick view .. Ask for João if you book this trip his company is a relaxed pleasure !!!!

We booked this tour through Viator and Tiago (Santiago) picked us up with a happy, fun, engaging personality. We had a blast and the Douro Valley is a sight to behold. Unbelievably beautiful and DEEP. The mountain sides were beautifully terraced vineyards in every direction. It was a great day and we highly recommend making this trip!

Fantastic day visiting the Douro with our Guide /Driver João Jesus who provided historical facts about the wineries and towns. Our tour in a comfortable Mercedes sedan included a wine tasting / tour, River cruise and wonderful lunch at a family restaurant. It was obvious that Joao is well known to all the Douro operators we had the pleasure of meeting.

A great half day tour from Porto to Doura Valley. Our guide Jao Jesus was great. His English was excellent and we learned so much from him. I can't say enough good things about how great our day was. The vehicle was new and clean. Our wine/port tasting and olive press museum tour at D'Origem very informative. The lunch was a traditional Portugese meal delicious and we were the only tourist there. Highly recommend this tour.

Wonderful full day tour of the Douro Valley with Joao who shared interesting facts about the area and Portugal. We especially loved the trivia during the drive. The wine and olive oil tour and tasting were interesting and the views from the tasting area were spectacular. We also loved the traditional Portuguese lunch at a local restaurant that was not filled with other tourists. We also enjoyed seeing a different perspective of the valley on a boat cruise. This experience was smooth and effortless fir us as the clients as our fluent, English-speaking guide, Chris, was engaging, knowledgeable, and organised. Chris has travelled the world in hospitality roles and connected quickly with us as guests from very different world locations. The tour itinerary was well-timed, scenic opportunities for photos of the beautiful Douro Valley and river. Vineyards visited were welcoming, historic, and focussed on telling their journey on wines/ports. Lunch stop was a surprise with a 3 course meal of local dishes, fresh produce, and wine. The 1 hour boat trip on the river was an excellent way to view the huge vineyards, olive groves and centuries old terracing. The final stop before returning to Porto was an elevated vineyard and olive oil tasting. The view was breathtaking!!!!Highly recommend this trip

The journey from Porto was filled with fascinating stories and insights about the region, making the drive itself feel like part of the adventure. Our first stop was a stunning church, full of old-world charm with breathtaking sculptures, ceilings, and architecture. From there, we visited the Sandeman Port facility, where we enjoyed a wonderful tour and finished with tastings of their outstanding ports. Lunch in a quaint town was another highlight—the food was bursting with flavor and truly memorable. Afterward, we boarded a boat for a cruise along the Douro River, surrounded by the most spectacular vineyard views on both sides. The day ended perfectly at Red and White Wines, where we relaxed on a veranda overlooking the valley while sampling three exceptional wines. Our guide even took us through the old olive oil facility, showing us the traditional methods used in years past—a real treat to see. This tour was such a special experience for both of us. We cannot recommend it highly enough, especially with Chris or Philipe as your guides. Their knowledge, friendliness, and passion for the region truly made the day unforgettable.

Lawrence arrived right on time at our hotel in Porto and transported us on a beautiful journey through the Douro Valley, explaining the rich history of different vineyards and history of the region throughout our tour. Our first stop was a small vineyard and wine maker where we enjoyed an excellent wine/port tasting. Following that, Lawrence took us to a very local lunch that we enjoyed very much. From there we got dropped off at our hotel in the Douro and said our goodbyes to our new friend.

Lawrence was a fantastic tour guide taking us on a private doro valley tour from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. where we stopped at two different wineries big and small including one that made its own olive oil and honey Lawrence was very accommodating to her preferences including when we opted to skip lunch. The car was also very comfortable. Lawrence is very knowledgeable and welcoming. Highly recommend this tour!

Joao Jesus gave my husband and me an amazing tour of the Douro Valley! We visited Casa de Mateus, followed by a wonderful lunch overlooking the vineyards. After sampling port at a tasting room, Joao drove us to Pinhao for a cruise down the Douro. We learned so much about the region and Portugal, thanks to Joao! We highly recommend him!
