The Douro wine country is breathtaking. Our stop in Quinta de Tedo was very interesting as our guide provided much information regarding the process. We also enjoyed the tasting very much. Thank you Walk Border for arranging such a nice day for our group. And, many thanks to our driver and guide, Pedro, for selecting wonderful stops along the way.

Itinerary
Stroll through the historic center, walk through the old streets, see the typical houses and the history that the city counts, with the river and the bridge. For those who like to appreciate the ancient architecture, in Amarante, mainly in the historical center, there are numerous examples of the Romanesque and still many buildings of the Middle Ages, along S. Gonçalo bridge (name of the Dominican friar who will have it built) and enjoy some of the most touristic points of the city: the Church and Convent of São Gonçalo and the Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso Museum. As he walks by the convent, especially at the end of the week, he will notice the stalls of the vendors of the delicious S. Gonçalo sweets who, because of their phallic appearance, are always a source of curiosity and great laughter. The name of the candy also helps … they are popularly called “quilhõezinhos de S. Gonçalo”. Tradition tells us that, at the S. Gonçalo festivities in June, the boys offer the girls they want to conquer. That was the way it used to be, but nowadays it is not like that, according to legend, those who want to get engaged have to touch the tomb of S. Gonçalo, from there they assume the saint as a matchmaker … mainly of the older women
Undoubtedly a breathtaking view, one of the best viewpoints of the Douro Valley, here we will understand the deserved fame of this beautiful region.
Strange would be to take a walk to the oldest wine region in the world without making at least one visit to a local winery, where you will be shown the different aspects of winemaking and also taste some of the best wines in the world according to world renowned Wine Spectator, at the end you should understand the methods and the different kind of grapes and wines here create.
Certainly one of the most beautiful places in the Douro region, the Pinhao Railway Station, built in the nineteenth century, its tiles representing the landscape and the life of the people in this region, with images of Port wine production from the harvest, the peculiar tread of the grapes with the feet, and the transport of wine in rabelos boats, typical boats that make the transport of the wine from there to the city of Oporto or more precisely Gaia.

Our family did the Lisbon-Porto and Porto-Lisbon transfers with tourist visits along the way, as well as the private Douro valley tour. We were very happy with the service, all in all. Hugo responded right away to my questions and changes of plans. The drivers, Manuel, Carlos and Rodrigo, were very professional, punctual and friendly, and the vehicles were clean and comfortable and in good condition. We would definitely repeat the experience. A big thank you to Hugo and his team.
We were picked up at the Oporto (Leixoes) cruise terminal by our private driver who drove us to The Miradouro de Sao Leonardo de Galafur for exceptional views. The entire drive out was breathtakingly scenic. We stopped briefly at Amarante and Pinhao, both very small towns finishing our tour at Oporto in about 8 hours. Wish we had more time and hope to be in the area again in the future.
Enterprise with credibility , very good new and professional cars Tour of the wonderful Douro, a beautiful region Transfer from Porto to Lisbon all perfect stop in Fatima
Thinking about tourism to know Portugal? Don't even think twice! Get in touch with Walkborder! A primor of Service and service. Guides with real knowledge of the history of Portugal and all the places we pass through. A real history lesson to be with them. In addition to the knowledge of the history of Portugal, there is the knowledge of the places visited, the food, the wines, finally... an absurd of so good.
Those who are in Porto can not fail to go to the Douro Valley and this agency is the best option. We made a private tour with a great guide and visited wineries, made tasting and still stopped in some cities along the way. I recommend everyone!
We went to Porto especially to make this tour. The Douro Valley is beautiful with high quality wines. Without a doubt the agency deserves a positive rating from the distance service to the arrival of the guide, which by a very friendly and helpful sign.
Note 10 is little for the Service offered. The guide Carlos is a sympathy of Cover, explained everything during the tour! Valley of the Douro is too beautiful, taste of wonderful wines and unique landscapes! If you are in Porto or Lisbon do not miss this tour.
