Douro Valley Prime Tour: Tastings, Private Boat & Lunch F/ Porto

This was a great experience. Started at 8 am. Beautiful drive and lovely short boat ride. Lots of different wines to try. Yummy lunch. Ended around 4:30. Definitely recommend

We want to express our gratitude specially towards the whole crew, from the van, to the boat, and to the restaurant (all the way to the cooks). If you are worried about tourist traps, worry no more. These guys are human and their intinerary/attractions are super authentic (I say it for I live here in Portugal there's 9 years now). We will never forget this day. Thank you all. Congratulations! Miguel was an amazing host - the tour was absolutely fantastic and a must if you're in Porto, Portugal. You will have an amazing experience!

We visited Porto with the sole intention of going on a wine tour for a day. We wanted to go on a small group tour and were very pleased with this booking. Tiago, our host for the day, is very knowledgeable and gave lots of interesting information about Port. The Port tasting was enjoyable as I haven't really drunk Port before so it was nice to go through the various types. This was followed by a nice relaxing hour on the river with a Port and tonic cocktail which was nice. We then travelled to lunch where we were fed and watered with white and red wine. The food was lovely and plentiful along with the wine.i I think we would have stayed all afternoon if we had the chance! Tiago got us safely home with a toilet stop about half way through the journey. Really enjoyable day. We did have to be flexible with our days as we were asked if we could move days but as we were there for a week, it wasn't a problem for us. Hence the 4 stars. However, I highly recommend this trip.

A wonderful experience exploring the Douro Valley. We tasted red, white and port wines at a few lovely venues and also enjoyed a private boat cruise! Our guide throughout the day, Miguel, was very kind, entertaining and passionate. He also took great photos! Highly recommend this tour!

He kept the whole group laughing while showing us the most beautiful, breathtaking places. He truly made the experience unforgettable. 10/10 . I couldn’t recommend him enough! 🥹✨

Miguel was a fantastic host with a wealth of knowledge about the Douro Valley and Porto, a great sense of humour and very hospitable. I really enjoyed the day trip to the Douro, is a must do for Port wine lovers (or any wine lovers for that matter), and even those who appreciate nature - great scenic views, including a boat trip on the river. I’d definitely recommend this day trip. A highlight of my time in Portugal.

Miguel was our guide, and he was wonderful! He had a lot of knowledge to share about the Douro Valley and Port wine in general. He was very cheery and easy to converse with. I would definitely recommend this experience to everyone who come to the Porto area.

There are a lot of tours based out if Porto doing something similar in duoro, but i felt seeing what the other tours got in passing that this tour is the best of the batch. 1) Miguel was a fantastic guide, tons of personality, really deep knowledge to share about the places we went to and even drove by. Also knew picturesque spots and helped take photos for the group. When i saw other tours at certain points where it was common to see them (winery estates for instance, other groups coming in and going), they got a similar mode of travel (van - smaller groups) but not the same enthusiasm, witnessed them skipping a couple scenic spots that miguel got us to go to, i also had the impression over hearing other guides interact is that they were more just ferrying folks around rather than raising the experience. 2) Lunch - not all tour groups do a lunch like this one does, the spot was great, the wine was essentially bottomless and gave a good range of wines. The food was fantastic and traditional and unique (not easy to get the experience elsewhere as they use traditional cooking methods and recipes). 3) the boat, its not a big boat shared with a bunch of other people/tours with no personal touch ( which i witnessed other tours doing) - this was a proper boat tour with a seperate enthusiastic and informative guide who provided a port based cocktail for the ride. The boat captain also had good personality and the two would riff with eachother. Its a small boat that goes around the river for about an hour, with good information and engagement during the entire ride - really enjoyed it. Other notes: The estates visited are also visited by other groups, but miguel really made the difference. Wine/port offerings, If your concern is not getting enough port or wine, dont be. Through the course of this tour you will be well provided for. Its easy to get lost on the options, this is a slightly higher price point than some other tours, it had me concerned beforehand, but after the experience i am very happy with it and it was worth the additional price.

This was an excellent trip. Well worth the money. Considered doing the trip solo through a train and self guided. So glad we didn’t. Miguel our guide was so knowledgeable about the region, the wine, the food, the people, the history. Absolute joy to talk to and be around. So welcoming. We saw so much. Many hidden gems that you just couldn’t manage solo if you didn't know the area. Small group made it very personal. Very chill and peaceful day. Much appreciated day break from the hustle and bustle of the city. Highly recommend.

This tour with Miguel was fantastic. He was waiting for the group at least 30 minutes early which was nice. He explained the tour before we started and as we drove to the valley he provided much information about the area’s history and geography. He was very knowledgeable and quite fascinating. The views were spectacular the entire day. We visited 2 wineries and learned a great deal about port making. The wines were delicious and the lunch was varied and excellent. Hospitality was superb. The hour boat trip was relaxing, informative and again the views were superb. A wonderful day and a highlight of our trip for sure. The other people on the tour were also a lot of fun. I highly recommend this tour with Miguel, a true professional..

Fantastic tour with our guide, Joao Dias. Duoro Valley was beautiful and very peaceful. Enjoyed Port & Tonic on the river, followed by two engaging winery visits, the second of which included a sumptuous Portuguese lunch. Joao was friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to share his love of his country (as well as his taste in Canadian music)! Highly recommended experience!

My daughter and I enjoyed the tour. We loved getting out of Porto to explore the countryside. Sérgio was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. The views, boat ride, lunch, and wine tastings were all great. It was nice to have a small group instead of a bus full of people. We recommend this lovely tour!

It’s a full day tour that includes stops to buy breakfast and provides a generous 3 course meal with matching wines. Second portions are encouraged and provided. The hospitality is off the charts friendly. The Ports at both stops are awesome. The guide and hosts very knowledgeable, and friendly. Will recommend this to anyone. The value for money is great!!

Beautiful day in the Duoro Valley. Tiago was an enthusiastic, knowledgeable guide. Lunch was fantastic. Only recommendation for the tour company would be to include cheese or chocolate pairings with the first two tasting stops.

A thoroughly enjoyable and truly memorable day from start to finish. Miguel, our guide/driver was both friendly and knowledgeable. The scenery in the valley is amazing and the river trip was both peaceful, informative and entertaining. The old vineyard that we visited was located in a stunning setting and the tasting experience highly enjoyable. A highlight for us was the appetising three course lunch cooked in a traditional manner and accompanied by some great wine.

Great guide wonderful day so much fun!

Great way to experience Douro Valley without having to manage the logistics. We had a convenient meeting point in Porto and then 8 of us headed to the Duoro Valley in a comfortable van. First stop within the first hour was a stop to purchase a coffee and pastry as well as the start of the nice views. The driving was comfortable and the views along the way were great. We arrived in Pinhao and went on our boat ride, which was one of the best parts of the tour. We had a nice wooden boat and it was only the 8 of us on the boat. Our boat tour guide, Pascoal, was amazing! He was personable, knowledgeable and funny! He was informative all along the river portion and also made us a tasty drink. The views were beautiful. Following that we were back in the van and headed to Quinta Do Panascal for our first tasting. The vineyard had beautiful views and we tasted 3 ports(Fonseca). It was a lovely stop. Following the tasting we headed back into the van and made a stop at a nice overlook point for pictures. Then to lunch, which was a nice property, but no real views. Along with lunch, we did have unlimited wine and also a port opening presentation (Quintela/Piano/Carlos Alonso). We then made our way back to Porto. My favorite part was the boat tour portion, but I also enjoyed the stop at Quinta do Panascal as it was a beautiful location with views. We had a great group of 8 and it was definitely an enjoyable day. Well worth not having to try and navigate transportation, boat tour and a winery on our own.

We did a 2 day tour into Douro. It was fabulous. Our guide, Hugo, was very knowledgable, entertaining and kept us on track so we did not miss anything we had on our itinerary. We never felt rushed. We enjoyed the beautiful countryside, wine tours/tastings and leisurely lunches. This is a not to missed tour!!

Great tour for a one day experience in the valley. The old winery display and the authentic lunch are some of the best “tourist sites” we have visited. The boat ride is just long enough and the day not too long.

This was such an amazing tour that was absolutely worht the time and money. We had Tiago as our tour guide and he gave us such a spectacular experience! He was able to share such great history and insights about Wine, Porto, and Portugal as a whole. We left the tour truly feeling like we learned and appreicated more than coming in. One of THE best day trips I’ve ever done, anywhere. Amazing scenery, phenomenal wines, unique family winery experiences, a beautiful river cruise, a delicious, chilled, theatrical lunch, and a truly brilliant guide in Juao. He was fun, engaging, passionate, knowledgeable, and took an already exceptional day to the next level. Could not recommend this experience more highly. 11/10 ❤️

Jean was an amazing guide! Took us to all the best spots and the wine was so good at both wineries. They fed us great appetizers and food at the second winery.
