The drive to Duoro Valley is about 1.45 hours. Stop along the way if you can. Make sure to get the “local lunch option”. Tiago was an amazing host, flexible and thoughtful this tour is worth the funds to do as a couple vs. larger group

This was one of the best tours I’ve ever been on, and I’ve been on many. We learned so much about wine, and how aging affects it. We learned about the different types of port and how to drink and preserve it. The views were stunning! We had a marvelous lunch with a pork stew with crackling skin that I wish was in my hometown so I could go there every week. Our guide, Tiago, was phenomenal! This day was the highlight of the whole trip for me!
This was, by far, the absolute best tour we have ever done. Dalia was fantastic. She made sure were comfortable and taught us everything there is to know about Porto and the Dora Valley. The restaurant was amazing with the most delicious food and Service The winery we went to, Casa do Poco is a must visit. The Wine and the tour were completely unforgettable. Thank you Dalia with all our hearts ❤️❤️🇵🇹🇵🇹
Sofia was awesome! She was great and would use her again - the vineyard and lunch spot as well as the boat cruise was very good.
What a marvellous day! Very comfortable ride with our driver/guide Nuno., who provided a steady commentary on the history, geography, politics, food and climate of the area. Our stop for a tour and wine tasting at Casa do Poço was superb, as was our ‘rustic’ lunch in Provesende. Both truly memorable and as authentic as you can get. 100% recommend.
We did a private tour and chose a small, family-owned winery, and it was such a great choice. Cecilia, the owner, was so warm and welcoming and shared a lovely selection of their wine, olive oil, and local products with us. The Douro Valley is beautiful and peaceful. Tiago was superb, knowledgeable and informative, but never overwhelming. He spoke just enough to make the experience interesting and enjoyable.
Tiago was an amazing guide. Very knowledgeable about so many things. He knows so much about the area, the wine, olive oil, food in general!!
I cannot recommend this company highly enough. From the very first email to the end of our tour, everything was exceptional. Sofia, who helped plan our day, was wonderful. She was warm, accommodating, responsive, and genuinely cared about creating the perfect experience for our family. Our guide, Nuno Pires, was fantastic. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and made us feel comfortable throughout the day. He drove an excellent vehicle, shared fascinating insights about the Douro Valley and all of Portugal, and was especially kind when my son became a little carsick, which was completely unrelated to his driving. His patience and thoughtfulness meant a great deal to us. The highlight of the day was our visit to Casa do Poço and the vineyard of Cecília and Fernando. It was truly one of the most memorable experiences our family had in Portugal. The hospitality was extraordinary, the setting was breathtaking, and every course of the incredible homemade meal was thoughtfully paired with a different wine. Nothing felt rushed or staged. It was authentic, personal, and unforgettable. The entire day unfolded at a natural, relaxed pace that allowed us to truly experience the beauty of the Douro Valley rather than simply checking off sightseeing stops. We left feeling like we had experienced the region through the eyes of the people who call it home. This is a day our family will remember for the rest of our lives. Thank you to Sofia, Nuno, Cecília, and Fernando for creating such a special experience. If you are looking for an authentic Douro Valley experience with wonderful people and impeccable planning, this is the company to choose.
Our family of four (including two young children) just finished an unforgettable trip through Portugal, and it exceeded every expectation. We started in Lisbon, where we stayed at The Lumiares Hotel. It was the perfect location to explore the city on foot, with charming streets, amazing restaurants, and beautiful viewpoints all around us. We spent time discovering Lisbon’s history and culture before taking a private day trip to Sintra and Cascais. Sintra truly felt like stepping into a fairytale, while Cascais was the perfect seaside escape with beautiful beaches and a relaxed atmosphere. On our way north, we stopped in Fátima, which was one of the most meaningful parts of our journey. It was peaceful, inspiring, and a place our whole family will always remember. Next, we stayed at The Yeatman in Porto, which offered breathtaking views of the city and the Douro River. Porto quickly became one of our favorite cities—walkable, welcoming, full of incredible food, and rich in history. We enjoyed exploring the Ribeira district, watching the World Cup with the locals, and experiencing the city’s unique charm. From Porto we traveled to the Douro Valley and stayed at Quinta da Pacheca. The scenery was simply spectacular. The vineyards, river views, wine experience, and peaceful surroundings made it one of the highlights of our trip. It was the perfect place to slow down and appreciate the beauty of Portugal. Throughout the trip, every transfer, hotel, and tour was seamless. The private guides were knowledgeable, friendly, and wonderful with our children, making the experience enjoyable for both adults and kids. We never felt rushed and were able to truly enjoy each destination. Portugal amazed us with its hospitality, outstanding food, beautiful landscapes, rich history, and warm people. It was the perfect balance of culture, relaxation, family fun, and unforgettable experiences. This was one of the best family vacations we’ve ever taken, and we’re already looking forward to returning. Thank you for helping make this such a memorable journey! Very thankful with Your Tours Portugal agency.
Tiago was the most informative tour guide we have ever had. He was born and raised in Porto and knew so much about the wine country. Our first stop was a small family owned winery Casa do Poco. Cecelia- the owner and the host showed us all around the winery, the grapes, let us pick cherries, showed us how they stomped on the grapes, stored the grapes and let us sample many different wines. Her home and winery is absolutely stunning. Then took a private boat trip down the Douro River. We got to see all the vineyards that surrounded the water for miles and miles to see. Beautiful. Our lunch was at a small local restaurant with delicious food. Tiago took extra time to show us scenic stops, stop by a winery that specialized in white port, and shared his wealth of knowledge throughout the whole tour. My kids and I felt this was the best tour we had ever been on and not recommended enough.
I wanted a private day tour in a clean, comfortable car, with a kind, knowledgeable, personable, professional guide and an easy itinerary that took us to some key spots in the Douro Valley…and our day trip with Dailia was exactly that and more. After picking us up at our AirBnb promptly at 9am, greeting my mom and I like new friends in a white Tesla, we set out for a gentle adventure through the Douro region, stopping first at a small family-run vineyard where we were given an informative and casual tour through their vines and processes, tarting their beautiful wines along the way, followed by a gorgeous homemade lunch al fresco with fun conversation and relaxing energy. Dailia was a pro at providing a variety of knowledge and information all along the way without overwhelming the ears or mind with unnecessary chatter, creating the ideal flow of conversation throughout our day as a soundtrack to the rich beauty of the landscape of the Douro region. We were able to watch the river cruise ship pass through one of the beautiful locks as though a travel angel was perfectly timing each bit of our journey. After a serene rabelo boat trip down the river, a nice little break from the road, we proceeded to our final stop, an old family-run vineyard in a tiny village where we tasted more gorgeous wines and ports, olive oil and honeys accompanying a fun, informative and interesting talk by the owner. A relaxing, reflective drive back to our AirBnb, a genuine hug goodbye to Dailia and we were all smiles the rest of the night after a perfect day spent exactly as I’d wanted. Worth every cent.
Amazing experience with Dalia to see the Douro Valley for our 24th wedding anniversary. With a PHD in Tourism, Dalia provided the context we needed to get the full experience and could communicate with the Quinta guides to easily translate anything to us in English the guide wasn't able to. Her knowledge of the history of Portugal was very interesting and she even served us lunch! She went above and beyond by showing us the coast on the way back to our hotel. We loved the private experience at the 2 Quintas we visited - the wines were amazing and the small solar hour boat ride was delightful. An overall lovely day!
Our experience included fascinating information about the history of Portugal that we never knew. The winery not only had amazing wines but incredible ports. I highly recommend this adventure!!
The day was incredible. There was a hiccup with the car arriving on time. Despite starting 45 minutes later than scheduled, the day was amazing. Ana was a great tour guide and cautious driver. We came with our 3 year old daughter and she entertained her while we tasted the wine and toured the vineyards. Highly recommend this company, the service, and Ana!
Our visit to Casa do Poso family-owned Douro vineyard was a highlight of our trip— very personal and much more educational than any large winery and great wines! The Douro valley was gorgeous with the olive trees and vineyards becoming green on the hillside. Miguel’s extra information and stopping viewpoints added to a perfect day!
We went for our two year anniversary so I wanted a private tour to be special. We were very concerned as when we got picked up from Porto it was heavily raining we would have a miserable time and when we passed the bridge towards the Duoro valley it was the most beautiful sunny day. Our tour guide Monica was amazing so funny and kind and told us all about the areas we were visiting, the vineyard and even had lunch with us. We came from the tour feeling like we met family with her and it was just the most wonderful and memorable time and tour. I always look back at this trip with fond memories which sparked me to write this review.
We had the most wonderful private tour with Sofia into the Douro valley!! We loved the fact that we could customise our day and Sofia gave us several options to choose from so that we could put together an experience that felt very personal to us. On the day of the tour we were greeted by perfect winter sunshine, and picked up from our hotel by Sofia in a brand new car, which was a great start and made the whole day a comfortable ride! Before we left Sofia talked through the day ahead and made sure that we were happy with everything. Then we headed for the Douro Valley through the most beautiful landscape, which was made even more magical by this amazing low level cloud, which draped over the hills like a huge cotton wool blanket! Our first stop was the Quinta Seara d'Ordens where we did a wine and port tasting. Our host must have done it hundreds of times, but he made it both informative and entertaining! We then took a look around the vineyard and the cellar where the port was aging in rows of barrels and huge vats. Before you leave you can purchase any of the wines or port that you tasted and get them shipped to you at home. Needless to say, we took that opportunity, as they were fabulous! Next we headed to Provesende, a tiny village of only 200 inhabitants. It was a very typical and quaint Portuguese village with a church, a couple of cafes and a 5 a side football pitch! Our lunch spot was Casa Típica Papas Zaide, which Sofia told us was now run by the daughter of the original owner. We were expecting a light lunch but we got a rustic banquet of cold cheeses and meat, olives, bread and olive oil, followed by a cod (bacalhau) and vegetable pastry (which was amazing), roasted pork shank and chicken, and to finish an array of local desserts and cakes. Everything was delicious, and all of this was washed down with some excellent white and red wine. Our last stop of the day was the town of Pinhao. It was only a 20 minute journey, but we took the opportunity to stop on a couple of occasions to marvel at the most wonderful landscape you can imagine and take reams of photos. It truly was a feast for the eyes! In Pinhao we took one of the traditional Portuguese boats and headed up the Douro river for a leisurely cruise, accompanied - of course - by a complimentary glass of port and more beautiful vistas. After an hour or so cruising on the river we came back to the dock just as the waning sun was starting to dip over the horizon, it was a magical end to a magical day. We had one last treat before heading home, a journey down one of the most beautiful roads we've ever travelled, that snaked its way for miles back and forth alongside the banks of the Douro, as if it never wanted to leave this stupendous river! But leave we must, connecting to the main A4 road for our final leg back to Porto. It was one of those days that we will remember forever. Our huge thanks must go to Sofia who made it so memorable. She was such an amazing guide, who made you feel like you were travelling with an old friend who was showing you proudly around her home country. Her knowledge and history of the area was second to none, and she knew just when to talk or when to be silent, to allow you to just enjoy the scenes that you were passing. So if you are wondering which tour to take, choose this one! And if you want the best guide, then ask for Sofia, she was fantastic!! We certainly hope to come back again soon and take another trip with her!
Pascal was our guide. He met us at our hotel in Porto and took us on a full day trip of the Douro Valley. We able to completely customize our schedule to include types of wineries and experiences that we were most interested in. This was the exact type of trip my family was looking for - private and focused on quality wines. At each stop, we had a wine tasting accompanied with some type of local food. Each stop had its own local flavor and guide who were personable, entertaining, and educative on wines. Pascal was very knowledgeable and friendly. We’d highly recommend this trip.
Monica was an absolutely amazing tour guide. She picked us up at the apartment we rented and drove us to Douro Valley. Along the way, she provided us with a history of Portugal with a focus on Douro Valley and the history of Port making. The first tour was a port tasting at a beautiful vineyard. Monica took pictures of the three of us and even made a video she sent to us after the tour. We then went to a delicious, traditional lunch followed by a tour at another vineyard making smaller batches of port. The entire day was delightful. We learned a lot and had so much fun. If I am ever able to return to Portugal I will seek out Monica. I cannot recommend her more highly.
Just forgot us. No pick up, no answer, just left us stranded… until support reacted it took forever. If you want to waste a day book with Your Tours Portugal. Worst service ever!
Our experience with yourtours was amaaaazing! From being able to choose exactly what we wanted to having passionate tour guides—there was no limit to the fun we had. My boyfriend and I were looking for a special way to celebrate our 3-year anniversary. We wanted something, eeem let's say different, and then we found your tours. Right from the start sth clicked. We got in touch with them unsure of where to go, but they helped us find what we wanted. We went through our interests and dislikes together and finally decided that a getaway from Porto to the Douro Valley was what we needed. We chose the fully customisable experience, so that we could adapt our trip and have the day all to ourselves. And it was lovely! If we wanted to skip one place and visit another, they made it happen. And the fooooood (we really like to eat soooo this place was very important to us)… we're not fans of busy touristy spots, but Pascal knew the perfect spot for a quiet, intimate and BIG dinner. We ended the day with a port tasting in a vineyard with a very warm, homey setting. A perfect day. The day wouldn’t have been what it was without our tour guide Pascal who truly brought the whole experience together. His stories, how he brought history to life, well just wow! Really recommend. Perfect anniversary, beautiful day, great company! Till next time!
We had an unforgettable day in the Douro Valley thanks to our guide, Nuno Pires. His deep knowledge of the region’s history, wine, and culture made the tour both fascinating and enjoyable. Nuno’s passion and ability to connect with everyone, including our children, truly elevated the experience. Highly recommend this agency and especially Nuno for anyone visiting the Douro!
We had a wonderful day in the valley, beautiful scenery, excellent wine tasting, and great food, all under the deeply knowledgeable and considerate guidance of Nuno, who made the day truly special.
There are not enough stars for how high I rate this trip! We went with our two young kids, and it was phenomenal. Thiago was so kind, informative, and lovely with our boys. Adults got to enjoy fine wine, and the kids got to run around a vineyard eating grapes off the vine. A win win for all!
Nini was an amazing guide, he told us lots of historical facts and explained everything in details. He was a great driver and not only told us about the tour but also extra mile, hidden gems, restaurants and how to have great time in Porto. Everything was amazing during the tour, highly recommended
Wonderful tour. The guide was especially nice and knowledgeable wonderful wine tasting. Lovely boat ride and we had a great lunch of lamb chops. We were especially lucky with the weather warm but not too hot
We had an incredible experience with our tour guide, Nono, truly one of the best we’ve ever had. He was a safe and confident driver, always making sure we were comfortable and at ease on the road. Not only was he courteous and professional, but also fun, engaging, and extremely knowledgeable about the region. He was incredibly attentive to our needs, always making sure the van was cooled down before we got in (a small detail that made a big difference in the summer heat). He seamlessly coordinated our boat tour, getting us on and off without a hitch, and even shared insider tips for exploring on our own later. His command of six languages, especially his fluent English, made everything feel easy and accessible. It was clear he had strong relationships with the local wineries, restaurants and boat operators, which made every stop feel warm and welcoming. We can’t recommend him highly enough. A true professional with a personal touch!
Our tour of the Douro Valley was absolutely unforgettable, thanks to our guide and driver, Nuno. From the moment he picked us up, Nuno made us feel completely cared for. He was not only a skilled driver but also warm, fun, and genuinely hospitable—he struck the perfect balance between professionalism and making us feel like old friends. Nuno’s deep knowledge of the region made the experience come alive. He seemed to know someone everywhere we went, which gave the whole day a personal, insider feel that we never could’ve found on our own. Every stop—from scenic viewpoints to intimate wineries was expertly timed. He was smart, kind, and courteous throughout, making us laugh while also educating us. We could not have asked for a better guide. If you’re looking for a Douro Valley experience that’s both relaxing and enriching, ask for Nuno. He made the day truly amazing!
Tiago was Amazing. He had a wealth of information and was awesome to spend the day with him. We really enjoyed this tour
Amazing experience! Pascel and Maria- were amazing and so knowledgeable. Would do this again and again. Highly recommend this tour and all the amazing people we met along the way.
Tiago was a great tour guide, knowledgeable and fun, the wine tasting was fantastic, views amazing boat ride was really nice as was lunch in a local restaurant with typical Portuguese foods prepared with love. Last stop was not as good. Would have preferred a port tasting.
We did the privite tour with Monica. She was really knowledgeable, gave us a lot of information abou vine as well as life in Portugal. She has great sense of humor and made our trip a lot of fun. She also always reminded us to take the pictures, which we appreciate since now we have beautiful Douro Valley not only in our memory.
We had a wonderful time. Maria, our guide, was terrific. The port tasting was very well done and the private lunch was a very special treat. 10/10 would do this again.
She was the best. Extremely friendly and talented. Enthusiastic and knowledgeable. The day was full of great experiences.
Our last day in Europe was spent taking this tour, and as it was just me and my wife we were able to get quality time with our tour guide. Nuno Pires was absolutely fantastic, and if you can you should request him directly. His English is perfect, although he does tours in 6 languages. He was kind, had so much knowledge, and really took the trip to a higher level. It was like hanging out with a friend for the day, and I would recommend anyone to go have the same experience I did if you are able. He also gave us a list of recommendations once we got back to Porto to make sure we could finish our trip off right on the last night.
We went on a great trip to Douro Valley. We had a wonderful experience and Pedro was an excellent tour leader. He was so caring and made sure we all had a good time. He gave us a lot of information about Porto and Portugal and because of his positive and warm style the trip became such a great experience. He took us to 2 wineyards. They were both good but the second was magical. We strongly recommend the trip and ask for Pedro Anna Henley Bäcklund
We loved Maria! We enjoyed every minute of this trip. Maria was an excellent host who took special care of us for the entire day. Two of us had dietary restrictions that were easily met. All of the food and drinks were delicious. The van was comfortable and cool. The surprise at the end did not disappoint. Thank you Maria for capturing this day in photos. We will cherish them forever.
We had the absolute best experience with Nuno on our tour of the Duoro Valley! He was friendly, accommodating, and incredibly knowledgeable of the area and Portugal's history. He answered all of our questions and ensured the tour suited our family. The entire group couldn't stop raving about how awesome Nuno was, and it definitely made our trip to Porto that much better. Everything was on time and we felt very safe and well taken care of. The views were stunning, the lunch was delicious (get extra potatoes if you can, they were heavenly), and the boat ride was lovely. Overall, this was a great experience. Ask for Nuno to be your guide and you won't be disappointed!
Monica, our guide, was excellent. She explained the history and the current operations in the Valley. The scenery was spectacular and the lunch spot was fine. The sip and chill stop at the top of the mountain was beautiful, the owner was a wonderful host, and Trinidad was a beautiful restaurant.
This was definitely one of the best days of our trip so far! Our guide Miguel was awesome! He’s such a friendly, fun, professional and knowledgeable person. He goes above and beyond to make sure you have the perfect experience! I highly recommend this tour and be sure to get Miguel as your guide. Thank you for the amazing day!
Had a wonderful day enjoying the beauty and wine of the Douro Valley. Our guide, Nuno, was very informative and the perfect host for the day. Highly recommend this tour. It was the best of our stay in Portugal.
Our tour with Your Tours Portugal was fantastic. Mariana our guide did a wonderful job informing us of the area. The small winery we went to was amazing. The owner took us out into the fields where we got to taste the grapes. We saw the area where they stomp the grapes and got to taste wine that had been fermenting for different amounts of time. Very interesting. Then we tasted 4 wines while enjoying bread tomatoes and jam. Lunch was very good as well. The boat have a different perspective of the vineyards. A wonderful day
We had Nuno as our guide & driver. He speaks very good English. He shared a lot of information with us. The ride to the Duoro Valley was scenic and interesting. The lunch was delicious and Nuno took us to a farmer market and we bought cured meat, very tasty and cheap. The whole trip was very relaxing, we were happy to get out of the city for a day. I highly recommend this tour. Thank you Nuno for a great day.
We had such a fun day with Monica! She told us all about Duro Valley while we enjoyed our ride around the valley. We became good friends by the end of the day and really enjoyed ourselves. Thank you Monica!
Beyond the beauty of the Douro Valley, our guide, Monica was absolutely fabulous. She was kind, knowledgeable, and went out of her way to ensure our tour was the best! Her attention to our requests and her personality made the day. If you are looking to explore the Valley, I could not recommend enough using these folks. It is clear that they care about their clients, the relationships with producers in the valley and are simply top notch!
Had a wonderful day with our guide Maria. Punctual pick up. Comfortable ride. Loved the first winery. Great tasting and lovely setting. The lunch was also tasty and a wonderful way to try Portuguese dishes. The boat ride was very nice. Stunning views. Second winery was picturesque. Nice cocktails. Would have liked to sample more of their wines. Overall a great day.
Great trip with Maria, our lovely guide. Punctual pick up. Comfortable car. First winery was stunning, wonderful wines. We enjoyed the surprise fresh figs. Lunch was tasty and a nice chance to enjoy traditional Portuguese dishes. The boat ride was very nice, amazing views. The second winery was picturesque- good port and tonic drink. Wish we could have also sampled the wines there too. Overall, a wonderful day. Thank you again Maria
My friend and I decided to forego a group tour and book a private tour instead — it was the best decision we made on our trip. We had the best time with Monica! A beautiful day in a beautiful place.
Our guide Dahlia was wonderful. She was very knowledgeable and nice. The winery experience was great. You can’t beat a wine tasting at a small vineyard at a producers home! We also enjoyed the restaurant in a small village. All in all a unique experience.
First class education on port wine and the beautiful Douro valley. The trip was very comfortable in the spotlessly new Tesla. Monica our guide was excellent, her English was perfect and she gave us the right blend of history and Fun. She was as enthusiastic and proud to show us all the sights as if she were seeing them with fresh eyes. All of the experiences at the two wineries, boat ride and lunch were curated with care. We felt safe being able to try all the wine tastings and not have to drive. Pricey but worth it!!
