10 hours sounded long but it was worth it. We learned a lot about the process of winemaking. We enjoyed the boat ride and would have lived a little commentary on what we were looking at!

I cannot even begin to tell you what an incredible tour this was! Our guide Melina and driver were the absolute best! Not only was the scenery stunning in the valley, but the food, drink, and company made the day! I made some lifelong friends that day and Melina made it such a fun day by keeping us engaged and playing music for us on the long ride there and back! The boat ride was a blast as well! I can’t recommend this tour enough!
A bit of chaos in the morning as many tours were meeting in the same place. Miguel was incredibly knowledgeable about wine and port and the area in general. The tastings were fun, and the meal was tasty. The river cruise was a nice respite.
Tour left on time. Had a great tour guide. Made the best of time allotted. Tasted port wines, enjoyed the scenery, learned interesting facts. Lunch included was good Day went by quickly.
Amazing. it worthy. Staff were very helpful . . Our tour Guise was very funny and and very knowledgeable
We had the tour with ricardo R, and the "machine" as a driver. I would really recommend it, nice groups, beautiful experience, and scenery.
Lucas our guide was amazing! Very knowledgeable , perfect English. The driver was good. Fun tour I highly recommend
We had the best time with our group and tourguide Ricardo! The vineyard visits and port tastings were amazing. We also had the time to stop in Amarante which was a smaller but beautiful village.
Our tour guide was funny and informative. I highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to see the Douro Valley. Comfortable travel, well worth the price and time investment.
Great experience. Tour guide was wonderful. Fun experience with a fun group. Loved every second. Nicely planned and very on schedule. Great wine and great views. Highly recommend.
Was a wonderful tour the tour guide mari was so nice and friendly. Learnt so much about history. Driver was very friendly too. Definitely an a great experience ☺️
It was beautiful and our guide was very knowledgeable and very friendly and fun. We enjoyed the winery’s and the lunch. The driver Nono was also very good
Raquel our tour guide said about 1 sentence the entire 10hr tour, we had to google questions about the history of the douro valley. The tour also said it included 3 wine stops, it was only 2 & neither were in a vineyard. It also said it included 2 viewpoints and we didn’t stop at any. The boat ride was up and down the same way which was also not as described. The saving grace was that the douro valley is absolutely stunning but I would definitely look at booking another tour not this one.
Loved Manuela and Jose! They made the day so special. The winery was just OK, and the food at lunch was just OK, but sitting outside on a gorgeous Fall day made up for it.
We had a brilliant time on this trip. Our guide Ricardo was great: very well organised and informative but also super laid back and great fun. The driver, Vitor (hope I've got that right) was also very nice, and negotiated the windey roads up to the wineries expertly. The trip was great value for money: We did two vineyard tours and tastings (one of wine, one of port) both with really knowledgable guides. We had a very nice three course lunch with free flowing wine at the first one. We also gad a lovely boat trip on the river - with another lovely, knowledgable guide who was great fun . We cant fault this trip atall - it was great.
So much to love about this tour but some disappointments. The Duoro Vkaleyvwas amazing and the guide Igor was personable and fun. The driver was incredible. There are some right turns and he did it with ease. The lunch was good without being great and the wine was free flowing. The downsides were the organisation at the beginning. All the tours left from the one spot and it was mayhem. After finally getting on the bus (not the minibus or van as advertised) we stopped 1/2 hour in for morning tea. The problem was so did every other company and in the same place. It wasn’t relaxing. Our wine tasting at the first place was ok as half the group went in the boat ride. Our guide at the winery was very inexperienced and it showed. We also had to wait 1/2 hour or more the bus to come after we had finished. Also note the tour took 11 hours with many hours driving.
Only two wines tasted and two ports all day Too much information at first stop Lunch basic Boat trip poor
Guide Igor and driver Albano gave us a fun and memorable day in the vineyards of the Douro Valley. There was an awful lot of wine, much of it before a late lunch, so make sure you eat a big breakfast beforehand otherwise you’ll have to be carried back onboard the bus!
I attempted to reach the tour operator, as instructed on my receipt 4 different times, beginning 6 days before the tour date. I did not receive a reply until less than 24 hours before our departure time. Because of the delay in their response, we were unable to make the tour. I have used TripAdvisor and Viator many times before and never had issues. In the end, they refused to refund our money. What a huge disappointment and now a battle to get a refund for the 4 of us.
Marni did a tremendous job! Great tour, beautiful tour very informative. She was fun and interacted with each of us to make sure everyone was enjoying themselves. Port tasting was my favorite but I love port! Great explanation I learned lots. Lunch was good, plenty of food and wine. Wine tasting was great! Then a very relaxing boat ride before we drove back to Porto. Do this trip, don’t miss out on the amazing wine, views and fun!
Excellent guide. Melina made the day fun and informative. Lunch and tastings were great. Beautiful scenery. M &D Canada.
Had an incredible day! Good weather made the day even better. Forgot the name of our tour guide but she was great - knowledgeable, fun, energetic and a good communicator. Highlights of the trip: - winery tour and tasting - beautiful location and great, great tasting wine - Douro River cruise was lovely. 1 hour is plenty and there were plenty of seats - morning coffee break was timed well and gave us a chance to souvenir shop Other parts - lunch was OK. Nothing special. Would’ve been nice to be at a restaurant with a view or better food - second wine tasting was also just OK. It was a tight space and not a winery but more of a wine shop. Would’ve preferred a second winery or more of a focus on olive oil - wished we would’ve left sooner and gotten home sooner so it wasn’t such a long day All in all a great time.
Our guide, Igor, was knowledgeable about Portuguese history, enthusiastic about the wine tours and considerate of the tour participants. Enough time was allocated at each site so adequate explanations could be given. The driver was very competent.
Our tour guide, Igor, was fabulous—experienced, knowledgeable, kind and with a great sense of humour. Great introduction to the Douro valley and its wine.
It was a very rainy day but they split the group up so we had a tour on a smaller boat under cover which was nicer than being on a big group. Milena, the tour guide was friendly and made the trip fun. The food was homely and authentically Portuguese and the wine glass did not stopped getting filled during the lunch. Worth doing, even in the pouring rain the Douro valley is beautiful and the guides at the quintas were very knowledgeable.
Igor & his driver Ribirto were both fantastic! It was fun, the group from many different countries were full of life, and the driver made us all feel safe during the entire trip! Highly recommend. It’s all day (~9 hours) but very well worth 100 euro.
What an excellent and very full day! We met our guide, Ivo, at the meeting point close to our hotel. Initially it was a bit difficult to find him. Maybe a red lanyard would make it easier. What a day we had in store! The tour had only 18 or so participants, so we had a mini bus. Well worth just a few dollars more than the larger group tour. Ivo has a delightful sense of humor and made the trip an absolute blast. He explained some of importance of the schist rock to the terracing on the hills, the flavors in the grapes, and actually the protection of the plants from the harsh environment. We concluded that Schist Happens! We made one stop for restrooms and refreshments at a small town and Ivo said they might overcharge us, so ask for prices before we pay. Ivo told us the lunch choices so he could call it into the winery where we would eat. I wanted to taste the tomato rice although it wasn't part of the vegetarian lunch, and Ivo said it could be arranged. We stopped for a tasting and lunch at a very beautiful vineyard called Santa Julia in Douro Valley. Very picturesque. The food was good - note that we were seated with a large group from the same tour operator, so there were a lot of people in the dining hall. There was a river boat ride on a private boat, very relaxing. We hit a second vineyard and learned more about the making of Port wines, very interesting. And tastings there as well. After that, we were on our way back to Porto. It was a full day and got back around 6:45pm. Thanks to the great staff and wineries. We had a wonderful time.
The boat trip itself was a great way to relax, as the staff gave info on the local sights. The barbecue was excellent - really good and plentiful food, free-flowing drinks and the crew were great fun. Thoroughly recommend.
Our bus driver, José and our tour guide on the bus, Igor were absolutely fantastic! So very knowledgeable, kind, funny and charming! They not only drove us to and through the gorgeous Douro Valley to meet the boat tour and tour the 2 wineries , they went above and beyond explaining the history of Portugal. Truly wonderful men! My only comment is that there was only 1 bathroom to accommodate 2 groups of guests making long line ups . Perhaps even portable bathrooms could/should be available?
This trip is worth more than 5 stars! Let’s start with our guide Milena— she was terrific and provided a wonderful FULL DAY trip. She’s very knowlegeable about all thing Duoro Vslley. Ask for her! Next, Luis the bus driver- wow! He does not have an easy job with steep hills curves and narrow passageways- but he’s a champ. Most important - THE BEAUTIFUL DUORO VALLEY- THE PORT TASTING - THE LUNCH AND WINE TASTING -THE TERRACED VINEYARDS -THE VIEWS-THE RIVER. DO NOT MISS this tour! One of our favorites of our 10 day Spain/Portugal trip ! Thanks Milena
We had a fantastic tour. It was a great balance of touring, tasting, walking and boating and involved the right amount of information about the region and the wines. There were good food options for lunch and it was delicious. A particular highlight was the tasting in the final vineyard and incredible views. All of our tour guides were friendly and organised, shout out Ivo and Pedro. They knew their stuff and the tour ran seamlessly. Definitely recommend!
Milena did a wonderful job at touring us around the Douro Valley. I would highly recommend anyone to select this tour if they wish to experience the wine of the valley!
Great day. Nice restaurant, so fancier than was expecting. The tour company originally messed up our booking, so we were stranded without a trip, but they rearranged it for the next day.
Igor was an amazing host who provided a great well planned experience. He was polite, knowledgeable and extremely passionate. We had a a great time and would highly recommend anyone coming to Porto to go on this tour. The driver was also incredibly skilled and made us feel safe at all times!
I love the views from the wineries, and learning about the wine. As a solo traveler there were not many others on the trip, spoke to a few people. Tour guide was friendly and helpful. The river boat was way tooooo boring and long and hot, don’t pay for that. The bus on the way back AC’s was not good. If you have a whole day to go up to Duro Valley, then yes DO IT!
The trip and tour were amazing. Melania and our driver were fantastic. Handled the hills and turns with ease. Melania added knowledge and humor and made the experience just what we were hoping for on our trip. I would recommend this trip and would go again. The Santa Julia winery was delicious and gorgeous. We did have great weather as well for our boat ride.
Absolutely fantastic - great group, excellent guide and driver, delicious lunch and very memorable day.
Loved it, it’s great value for money. The guide was very knowledgeable and the driver very skilled. It was very nice
The whole experience was memorable. Melina our tour guide was knowledgeable, efficient without being over bearing and very helpful to my self and my wife. Pedro was a fantastic driver skilled and personable. Both top notch friendly individuals with exceptional interpersonal skills.
Everything about this day was lovely. The wineries were beautiful, the boat cruise was stunning and lunch was fantastic. But what really made our experience wonderful was our tour guide, Luis who was funny, knowledgeable, kind and kept us entertained all day! I would highly recommend this tour!
Maria was a wonderful, knowledgeable guide. The views were amazing and iconic. Lunch was amazing and the wine was wonderful.
Luis was an outstanding guide. He is very knowledgeable about the Douro Valley and its wine making tradition. His explanations were a wonderful plus to the trip. Also he let us know what we were scheduled to do and gave us time to enjoy our beautiful surroundings. He gets an A+.
Great experience with wine/port tasting and river trip. Evo was a very knowledgeable funny driver and made the trip very enjoyable.
Great day out, quite enjoyable. Easy pace all the way, bus transfer to wine tasting session 1, boat trip, lunch, wine tasting session 2, Hic!!😂 then bus back to Porto, Good air con on bus would improve the comfort of journey. Thank you.
Truly enjoyed our full day outing to the Douro Valley with Magical Douro. Igor was our guide; and he informed and entertained us throughout the day. The valley was gorgeous; a beautiful boat ride was relaxing. And visiting the vineyards was interesting. Porto is beautiful, but a tour to the Duoro is well worth the time and money, as it transports you to the valley where the magic climate makes all the wine possible.
Igor was such a good tour guide and kept us engaged the whole time, but also knew when to step back after the long day of traveling. Very knowledgeable and made the day fly by!
We had great trip to Douro valley. The countryside and scenery were amazing and we had a very enjoyable day. The boat trip on the Duomo river itself would have been enhanced by some commentary and explanation. The winery we visited for lunch for amazing - great views. great lunch, great tour and wine tasting, great staff and beautiful gardens The tour was really worth doing and we would definitely recommend it. Our guide and driver were great and were very helpful when the air conditioning in the bus was not working well and got us another bus. Great day!
Douro Valley was an amazing location to visit and it was great to hear about the wine making process and the history behind the wine and Port from this region. Ivo and our bus driver Giorgio (sp?) were great! Unfortunately, both wineries visited during the tour were more interested in rushing people through the tour and tasting than they were in giving people a proper winery visit. During the winery tour where lunch was served, there was "unlimited wine" insomuch as the people pouring the wine were paying attention and walking around, and they only served the same wines we had just done the tasting of, not providing any additional insights into wines provided at the winery to encourage purchases. On the day my wife and I did the tour, there was something quite off with the white wine we tasted, so much so that even though my wife requested the fish, she still drank the red wine (which honestly wasn't much better). The provided food was cold upon serving and lacked flavor. Before the boat tour, there was a brief mention that there may have been an app or some other download option, but other than the brief mention, there was no additional information or QR code provided to reference during the boat tour. So while it was nice to be on the river and see some various wineries along the river, there was no information to accompany the boat cruise. If there had been some wine or some sort of snack food or something on the boat, it would have made the boat slightly less boring than just piling 40+ people onto the boat and pushing off. The biggest issue of the trip was by far the bus. It did not work. I saw the check engine light lit yellow almost constantly, and when Giorgio tried to accelerate at all, but particularly on hills, it was a red light. The 9 hour tour ended up being closer to 11 because the bus could not get above 50 miles an hour on the highway except occasionally on the down hill portions of the road. We also encountered temperatures over 30*C inside the bus because the A/C did not work and there was apparently no locations that could provide short-order support during the visit to the second winery or during the boat ride. CM Tours needs to do a better job maintaining vehicles, particularly when you are going to cram so many people onto a bus or a boat. It would also benefit guests if you chose wineries with quality wine and food, and also provide some sort of snack/wine/refreshment during the boat trip.
This was a great day out and great value for money. Ivo was a brilliant tour guide and Julio did a brilliant job driving a bus that was having some power troubles. The air con on the bus was having a few issues, but they both did all they could to sort them out. Both wineries were great with amazing views of the valley and the boat cruise was a really nice ending. Would recommend.
The landscapes are beautiful. But the attention of the guide was terrible, he behaved in a rude way, knowing that we were Colombians, he did not make jokes about the mafia in very bad taste, additionally there was no good coordination and we had difficulties in the visit to the Barros winery. The visit to the San Luis winery was poor, a tour without any structure and done quickly without any depth
