Beautiful views, great wine, and our guide, Pedro Cardoso was good company. I'd tell anyone not to miss it.

Lovely, all day small group tour into the Duoro valley. Claudio our driver and guide was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Comfortable air conditioned transport. Scenic stop at Galafura then interesting guided tour of winery with wine, port and olive oil tasting. Very peaceful scenic boat trip then and excellent traditional meal before returning. Very enjoyable
Miko was a fantastic guide, very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about throughout the tour. Would absolutely recommend to anyone! Cheers from Canada.
Miko Duarte was full of knowledge and told us a great deal about the wines and the area. He was kind and considerate to the whole group. Provided us with wayer and snacks and provided a gun and enjoyable day.
A truly fantastic and memorable day out. From start to finish Miko 's energy, enthusiasm and knowledge kept us both informed and entertained during the day. There was never a dull moment and the wine and port tasting along with a traditional farmhouse lunch were exceptional. The short but leisurely cruise on the Douro ( with snack and yet more port) lived up to our expectations. We would highly recommend this trip.
What a super day. There were just six in this small group tour plus our driver/guide Jose First stop was high in the hills for a panoramic view of the Douro River and valley. Then it was down to a winery which had been in same family since 1792! We tasted 2 wines and 3 ports, all premium. Next stop was at the river for the 1 hour cruise. The boat had cover - really appreciated in the hot sun. Finally, lunch at a private home in the country. Beautifully laid table for the four course lunch Jose was entertaining and told us about the region, its wines and a little history.
We had the absolute best day in Douro! The wine, the vineyards, the boat, and most importantly our guide Miko were amazing. Miko especially made the whole experience even better, his energy and commentary made the whole day so special and engaging. The lunch was incredible and would recommend this experience to anyone and everyone who comes to Porto.
Claudio was a wonderful guide who took great care of us!
On the plus side. Tasting experience excellent. Views spectacular. On the negative side the river cruise was a shambles. Added nothing. The guide meant well and knew the area. However we did not need the continued reference to his life story and woes!
Miko was it amazing Guide and Driver! We enjoyed his humor and educational background. Would recommend me go anytime.
Miko was an excellent tour guide, and Karina’s food was delicious! Highly recommended.
I had an incredible adventurous day with Miko Duarte. We traveled through Douro Valley and he explained the history and highlights. He was so energetic, knowledgeable and friendly. He catered to our every need and made sure we were comfortable and well fed. Don’t miss this tour and tour guide.
We had the most incredible Douro Valley tour with Miko! From the wine and olive oil tasting to some of the most beautiful views in the region, every part of the day was amazing. Miko was so friendly, funny, and spoke excellent English. He made sure my friend and I were comfortable and taken care of throughout the entire trip. The lunch at the end was honestly one of the best meals we’ve ever had! We had such a wonderful experience and would highly recommend Miko and this tour to anyone visiting Porto. It was truly one of the highlights of our trip!
Great day exploring the Douro Valley area. We loved the small group tour and wonderful family vineyard we visited. Our guide, Nuno, was terrific! Very knowledgeable and passionate about the area. The traditional, family-styled lunch was delicious.
Brilliant tour with Jose excellent information throughout clean comfortable vehicle prompt pick up wine tasting, boat trip and meal was fantastic highly recommend
We had a wonderful experience with our excellent guide Miguel. We enjoyed the wine and olive tasting, the boat cruise and the wonderful lunch. We learned a lot about the Douro Valley and were fortunate to see it from both land and the river through this tour. While it was cloudy at the overlook, we were above the clouds which gave a top of the world feeling. Thanks Miguel for being a great tour guide!
What a beautiful day! Thank you Antonio for your a fabulous experience.
This was a wonderful tour of the Douro region. I enjoyed winding through small villages and seeing personal vineyards on our way to the Douro River. The views of the terraced hillsides were spectacular, both on the drive and on our ride on the Douro River. Our tour guide, Jose L., was very knowledgeable which added so much depth to our experience. Lunch was also a highlight as we were graciously hosted in a private home and served a several course traditional Portuguese lunch. I would definitely recommend this tour to those visiting the region.
Antonio our guide was absolutely fantastic - efficient, informative, and very funny. We had a stop off at an amazing viewing point for photos on the way to a beautiful winery for the wine and port tasting. The boat tour down the Douro on their company owned brand new electric boat was silent and really picturesque. We finished off with a really tasty family style lunch of local produce and wine before returning back to Porto. The tour was really great and we highly recommend.
This was a magical tour. We were very lucky with the weather which of course helped, but our guide Antonio would have made it a fantastic day out whatever the weather. We started with a lovely drive into the valley and view point. This was followed by a wine/port tasting at Qunita d'Ordens then a great hour on the river in a very environmentaly friendly electric boat and watched the vinyards glide by. Finally we had a home cooked lunch at the owner's quinta with superb food cooked and served by two lovely ladies. Thank you. THe other group member was great and we had some interesting conversations with other members of the day out. Rui another guide also added to an interesting and thoroughly enjoyable day out. Very good value as well.
We had a great time travelling to the Douro from Porto for a day tour. It was a small tour, very personalise, which made it all the more enjoyable and educational. The guide - Nuno Lisboa - was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. He was happy to accommodate our interests and answer our questions. He is a good driver and the van was very comfortable. We visited vineyards, did port tastings; had a lovely lunch at a private lodge as well as a short boat trip. The scenery was wonderful and we saw a lot of the Douro and learnt a great deal. It was a memorable day and I would not hesitate to recommend it and Nuno as a guide.
Miguel gave us the most amazing experience, this tour was more than we expected! Thank you so much
The tour was worth the price. What stood out to us was the timeliness, order of the tour, the places visited and the people who supported the entire process. Our guide and driver, Nuno Lisboa was very knowledgable, accommodating, and friendly; most importantly kept us engaged. The staff were very kind and helpful, too. The crew of the river cruise were plenty to support us and left a strong impression. The setting of our lunch in a rustic place felt lively, peaceful, as well as festive for the season. The timing was perfect and not rushed.
My friend and I went on this tour together. It was fabulous. José Lino has incredible knowledge. It starts with an amazing view then onto a wine and port tasting at Quinta Seara D'Ordens. After an hour on the Douro with a delicious roll and more port. Then a thought I had gone to Heaven lunch in their farmhouse kitchen. I highly recommend First Douro and José.
We had a fabulous day in the Douro Valley with our tour guide Miguel. The weather was perfect for our trip and Miguel was an excellent guide, helpful, friendly and informative. All parts of the tour were excellent, the wine and oil tasting , the boat trip and the gorgeous lunch at the farmhouse. There were 7 of us on this tour plus Miguel and we very much enjoyed the company of our fellow travellers from Canada. I would recommend this tour of the stunningly beautiful Douro Valley.
Picked up at hotel by Jose our guide, and joined a group of 3 couples. Pleasant drive in nice van to viewpoint overlooking Douro river with just the right amount of information. Then to a great small vineyard for wine tour and tasting. Then boat ride on Douro, very dramatic, followed by very good lunch at a small private caterer. Lasted 8 hours. Excellent way to get the whole Douro experience without any hassle. Fair price for what you get, 175 Euros per person, plus a tip.
Jose Lino our tour guide was exceptional. He picked us up at our hotel in a Mercedes van with seats for 8 along with 2 other couples. We had plenty of space in the van. He took us to an outlook point and perfectly explained (but not overly explained) all about the Douro Valley region. He took us to the Quinta Seara d'Ordens Vineyard where they told about their process along with a wine tasting of red & white wine and tastings of their famous Port Wines. We then went on a boat ride down the river and were served wine in wine glasses (other groups not with us were served in paper cups) along with a sandwich. We felt ever so special....we dislike drinking wine out of a paper cup....so thank you Jose! He then took us to the owners farm and we were served a WONDERFUL meal along with wine. We had great laughs, made friends with wonderful people. We will recommend Jose and his company to all of our friends and family. Thank you Douro First Tours & Jose for giving us such a special memory.
We had an amazing day of views, wine and food. Our driver Jose was very professional and knowledgeable of the local area. Lunch was a highlight of the day. The traditional food was excellent quality and cooked to perfection. Wine flowed throughout the meal and we got to know other people from the tour. All in all, a wonderful experience.
What a fantastic tour led by Nino Lisboa. From the moment we stepped on our tour till the very end was extremely enjoyable. Nuno’s customer service and knowledge was excellent. The tour which included the winery, the lunch, the boat trip and the views was 10/10. There were so many tours on offer but so glad I chose Douro First Tours. The private lunch all cooked by the wonderful chef which we enjoyed in a beautiful atmosphere. It felt as though we were having a home cooked family lunch. Highly recommend. Definitely the highlight of our 3 day Porto trip.
The Douro Valley is absolutely beautiful. I think all tours offer a tasting or two, a boat ride on the river, and a Portuguese lunch. The value of our tour was enhanced by our intelligent, knowledgeable and thoughtful host Miguel, who explained a lot about the region and the wines.
We spent a wonderful day with Pedro, our tour guide. He was very informative, personable, and professional. We stopped at a winery for a tour and a tasting, took a scenic boat ride on the Douro River, and had a delicious lunch. Port wine aplenty throughout. Pick up and drop off were at our hotel. Very small groups travel in minivans with their own guide and meet at the activities. Every group seemed to like their guide. The format makes for a relaxing and enjoyable day.
Recommend this tour of the Douro Valley if thinking about visiting the wine region. Our guide, Jose Lino, was so knowledgeable and helpful - we had a wonderful day! Thank you Jose!
David was a wonderful guide. The small group allowed conversation. The food wine, port and food was plentiful, the lunch was outstanding. It was a great personal way to see the Duro Valley .
We were picked up promptly from our hotel and shared the Luxury Vito with two other couples. Pedro was our driver who was full of information and fun. We visited a fine private family run winery where we enjoyed their wines and ports and light refreshments. A boat trip on the Douro followed and after that we drove to a fabulous lunch at a private farmhouse. A really good way to see this area and would highly recommended Pedro and Douro First Tours who looked after us so well.
The Douro Valley wine tour was great! We were in a small group with Pedro Andrade as our guide. He was very professional and friendly and spoke good English in addition to Portuguese. The winery we visited had excellent wine and the wine tasting was great! The tour included a lunch at a house with local cooks and authentic Portuguese dishes and a boat tour on the river. Would recommend!
An exceptional tour. Small van guided tour of the Douro Valley with Port tasting, River cruise, and private meal in a farm kitchen. Knowledgeable guide and first rate service.
I signed up for the Duoro First day wine tour on Nov. 2, 2024 through my hotel (Hilton Porto Gaia). I was picked up on time at my hotel and enjoyed a wonderful tour which included several photo opportunities, wine tasting at Quinta Seara d'Ordens (which I had enjoyed at a restaurant in Lisbon), a beautiful boat ride on the Duoro at Pinhao, and then a wonderful meal in Villa Real before returning to the hotel. I was so happy that I did this tour as every minute was amazing and well planned. As a solo traveler, I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I also want to say thank you to the Duoro First team. I left my cell phone in the van after returning to the hotel. My hotel contacted Duoro First and the driver drove 90 minutes late at night to return my phone to the hotel. I could not believe the incredible service that they provided! Thank you so much!
Long drive stuck in small van, infamous unprofessional wine tasting with no good quality, packed ordinary tour, bad quality lunch&wine at fake farm but the owner’s house. Overcharge, totally waste of time and money! Never try this so called premium tour!
This is an outstanding tour of the Douro region complete with excellent transportation, experienced tour guide, a fabulous and educational visit to a family estate, Quinta Seara d’Ordens and a delicious feast at a beautiful home with local dishes, wine and port. Pedro, our guide for the day, provided local history and many stories during the trip to and from Porto with beautiful countryside landscapes and panoramic views. Well worth the time and money to explore this beautiful region of Portugal!
A trip to the Douro Valley is a must in Portugal and Douro First Tours is, from my experience the best option to explore the area. Our tour guide Pedro was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable not only about this area but also about wine grapes and the history of this region. To have Pedro driving us around was like having instant access to a full encyclopedia of the northern region of Portugal. Douro First Tours really put some thought into our experience, the views…stunning, the privacy and attention to customer care…professional, the selection of our itinerary…extremely thoughtful. From the family owned winery tasting, to the traditional boat ride, to the very private, very authentic experience of the home cooked lunch they selected for us, to every staff member involved throughout our day, it was beyond our expectations. Thank you Pedro for always providing us with the exact altitude and humidity levels throughout our day, thank you Jose Ricardo and his lovely partner for opening up their home and thank you to Douro First Tours for their five star service all around and the incredible Douro Valley memories you gave us!!
Our guide, Pedro, was excellent - informative, friendly, professional. The winery was beautiful and the tasting room experience was well executed. However, the same experience can be found at any of the port tasting rooms just over the bridge within walking distance of Porto. If seeing the Duoro Valley is on your bucket list then you may enjoy this tour but if you’re mostly looking for wine tasting then skip the tour and simply walk across the bridge. The lunch was very good but served at a random house that is on the way back toward Porto (about 60 minutes away) - it is not at a winery and has no historical or other significance. Seems like a missed opportunity. Overall expect about 4 hours of driving around on narrow twisty roads. Expensive for what it is.
Davide was an excellent tour guide! The tour itself contained included everything you could expect. Astonishing views, great wine tasting and a superb lunch! Safe driver Davide entertained us!
We had an excellent tour with David on a rainy day to the Douro Valley but he made it most enjoyable. He was very chatty and gave us lots of background knowledge of the wine and olive growing region . Our group of 7 hit it off straight away . Our tasting and lunch were so enjoyable. I would thoroughly recommend this company and certainly ask for David again
We had an amazing day in the Douro Valley, primarily because of Nunuo, our guide! What a great guy, so well informed, intelligent, personable, gracious and spoke fabulous English! This turned out so much more than I expected! We had two other couples on the day trip that were also amazing. Thanks so much to everyone for making this a spectacular and memorable day in the Valley! Great lunch, great wine tasting, great tour and great company!!
David was my guide and we explored the beauty of the Douro valley. I would recommend the tour and this trip to other visitors.
We took a day tour from Porto to the wine country. The tour included a wine and port tasting, boat ride, lunch and ride up and back. Our driver David was super friendly, informative and an excellent driver as well - he added greatly to our experience. The vehicle was a very nice Mercedes van that was in perfect shape. The winery was quite nice and we all enjoyed their wine and port. The boat ride on the river in the wine country was truly beautiful. We had a great day and recommend the tour guide, tour company and David also - you’ll have a great time!
Very nice day tour. We were one of 2 couples in the van, so seating was comfortable. Jose, our guide, was very nice and informative. The winery and wine tasting was very good as well. Lunch was at the tour owner's private residence. Very relaxing, refreshing setting, and excellent home-cooked food, plus more wine!
This tour was recommended to us by our hotel concierge and we mainly chose that tour as it was sold to us as a premium tour with a maximum of 6 people for the whopping price of 160 Euro per person! For this price I expect a very good experience. As I am in the travel industry myself I really have to review that tour here - as I would never ever recommend it to my clients. At the end of the day we felt really ripped off. So why was that? As I said the tour was sold with a maximum of 6 people - we were actually 7. Yes, that is only 1 person more, but in a van that is really a question of a seating comfort. As the middle row was already occupied, we had to cramp in the backrow with a total of 3 people - one couple got split up and the husband sat in the front seat. And most of the tour you will spend driving. The guide - was also a disappointment. Usually you would expect of a guide that he introduces himself when everybody is inside the car and explains about the program of the day. But nothing from his side - somewhere in the middle of the drive he started to talk something, but that was mainly only a talk for the person next to him. In the back it was not possible to understand anything. I was happy that I did a real excellent audio guided tour through the portwine establishment of Taylor´s the other day - as otherwise I would not get any good information about the Portwine on that tour. This guide didn´t do his job properly at all - you could feel that he was bored and not motivated. The visit of the Portwine Yard and the tasting was good - the guy there did good explanations, was friendly and was leading us through a good tasting. The 1 hour boat cruise on the Douro river was on a large boat together with many other noisy bus groups. No way to enjoy the beautiful scenery. I saw smaller boats cruising around - so for the price that we paid, I would have expected to be on one of them. Usually after the boat cruise you will get a lunch and a further tasting on a small farm. As it was Sunday this was not available - to be fair that is mentioned in their brochure. But ok if the lunch is not on that specific farm, I would expect it to be at least in some nice restaurant somewhere around in that beautiful wine valley. But no, we got lunch on the return, half-way to Porto in a normal small city outside of the valley. No view, no scenery and only very standard tourist food - and imagine the price that we paid - 160 Euro per person. I really can not accept that and I really don´t recommend you to book this tour. Then you can also go on a regular bus tour for half the price and almost the same experience or even better rent a car and do that tour yourself.
We had a wonderful day in the Duoro Valley with David and Duoro Premium. What a spectacular wine region, and David's knowledge and passion for the region really brought it to life for us. While it was one of the more expensive trips on offer, we would highly recommend Duoro Premium as they personalise the visit, limit the number of people on the tour, and have a couple of additional treats for you!
Me and my husband loved this tour! The tour was small - only 6 people. Our tour guide was so nice and knowledgable. The wine tasting was wonderful and the lunch at the end of the tour was fantastic. We ate at a small Airbnb-like place - several courses with wine and port. We've done several tours in our travels and this was one of the nicest.
