Good half day trip. Lovely boat ride! I would recommend this trip.

Itinerary
Your expert guide will collect you from your hotel/accommodation or meeting point and will drive you to Aveiro and Costa Nova. On your way to Aveiro, the guide will give you insights regarding the Portuguese history, development and cultural facts of portuguese heritage.
The first stop is Costa Nova do Prado beach, famous only by the name Costa Nova. The most picturesque aspect of Costa Nova is its coast road along which a line of wooden huts is painted in brightly coloured stripes alternating with white. Built by fishermen as shelters and equipment stores, the huts have now been converted into rather characteristic holiday homes.
Cruise Aveiro's dazzling canals on a classic Moliceiro (traditional boat) Relax and enjoy the landscape on this traditional boat, that once was used to collect seagrass in the lagoon.
The capital of the Ria, a vast lagoon where the freshwater of the River Vouga joins with the sea, Aveiro is intersected by canals, genuine streets of water, along which can be seen gliding the brightly coloured boats known as barcos moliceiros. Originally founded in the time of the Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius, Aveiro is now one of the most interesting cities on the Portuguese coast. Discover the history of this beautiful city and tasty the traditional pastry, "Ovos Moles".

Great experience. Our tour guide Henk made it a lot of fun. He's very knowledgeable and a safe driver. The day includes the boat ride which was fabulous and gives you enough free time to truly relax and enjoy the areas that you visit. I would recommend this to a 100%.
We visited both cities with Bernardo our guide and the day was great, we had some nice lunch and a ride in the boats. Definitely recommend!
We had a nice day visiting two towns and this was a very nice day , thanks to Bernardo, his good energy and the beautiful landscapes
We visited Aveiro and Coimbra also and loved both places. Bernardo was a great guide and showed us around with some great facts and tips.
The tour guide Susaiua / Fravco is very nice and so helpful for us.I will recommend to my friend to join this tour again!!
Traveling with our driver and guide, Diogo, was an excellent experience. Our discussions on the way to Aveiro varied from past history of Aveiro and Costa Nova to modern day issues of Portuguese life. Diogo was extremely knowledgeable and we learned quite a lot. The Aveiro stop included a canal tour, and yes as people say its not Venice, but Aveiro is small, quaint and that was just right. Our Canal guide Alex was courteous and intelligent. A note: we left our souvenir photo in Diogo’s vehicle. But Living Tours reached out to Diogo, who located it and drove all the way back to our hotel and dropped it off for us. Its the big things that make a tour good. But sometimes its the small things that make it great. Thank you Diogo, Living tours and beautiful Aveiro. Now wherek’s that box of Ovos Moles???
Fred our tour guide was exceptional, he took the time to explain Porto, Aveiro and Costa Nova. He made the tour fun as well. Highly recommend this tour Aveiro was beautiful
This tour was a lovely way to spend an afternoon away from the bustle of Porto. Both locations were pretty. Our guide, Rui, was very helpful and we had great conversations with him about Portugal. He also was kind enough to give us recommendations for great meals in Porto.
If you want a tour where you’ll see a lot of stuff in a short amount of time, this is the tour for you. We paired it with a walking tour of Porto in the morning. This tour will take you briefly to a little beach town with striped colorful houses (Costa Nova) and then to a small and cute city (Aveiro) about an hour south of Porto. We got to try raivas (small biscuits that are sweet and salty) and ovos molhos (soft eggs is the translation, which is a sweet like the famous egg custard tart. Bruno Camposi was a really nice tour guide. He even ran to grab a jacket someone forgot on the boat tour in Aveiro. Rui was a good driver and kind.
Fred was our guide and very informative and engaging. He picked us up at the hotel and drove us to Aveiro. Fun time!
Christian and Rui were excellent guide/driver. Very informative and smooth drive. Aveiro boat ride was a disappointment. Not much to see. Aveiro is a quaint town. I would recommend taking the train from Porto and exploring Aveiro on your own.
A lovely day out visiting Costa Nova, Aveiro and two other sites. The guide gave us plenty of time to explore each site.
Mario Pinto was great! He provided many historical facts.
If you’re traveling in the north of Portugal, visiting Aveiro is an absolute must. This charming small city has such a unique character, full of delightful discoveries. Its historical streets and beautifully preserved Art Nouveau buildings make walking through the city an experience in itself. Our guide, Alex, was knowledgeable and attentive. The Moliceiro boat trip was a lovely way to see Aveiro from the water. After exploring the city, it was refreshing to head to Costa Nova. The village by the ocean has a calm, slightly nostalgic feel, especially outside the high season. The iconic colorful striped houses are even more charming in person and definitely worth the visit. This day added warmth, beauty, and a touch of magic to our vacation. Highly recommended!
We toured with Rafael, we enjoyed his explanation as we traveled. It would have been nice to have more time in both towns. Each town was very unique but 20 minutes was just not enough time in each one. I would have paid more so we could have had more time. Thank you…Pam and Mike
Diego was a great guide! This was a nice way to see more or Portugal while staying in Porto. There is not a ton of time at the stops so maybe check in advance if there is something you really want to do
Anabela & Paulo !!! Great People, Paulo (the driver) is kind, helpfull has allways a smile to share. Anabela is also Kind and helpful, She gives proper Informations about history and also a few hints, you may not get so easily over google
We first visited the pretty area of Costa Nova with the striped houses overlooking the lagoon or the beach depending which way they were facing. The beach had lots of restaurants and was not crowded We then went to Aveiro which was also lovely with art deco buildings and canals. We had a 45 minute canal tour which was interesting but a little disjointed as the lady guide had to speak in 3 languages because of the mix of nationalities. Jose, our guide bought us some traditional Portuguese sweets from the area which were delicious. He then took us on a small walking tour through Aveiro and also took us to see the station. A very enjoyable experience and thank you Jose for recommending and booking Ze Bota in Porto it was excellent!
Alexander was a fantastic guide. Very knowledgeable about all the local history. His English was fantastic. Would love to have little more time at each stop but only booked 1/2 day. A+
Louis was a wonderful, knowledgeable guide. The trip to two other towns near Porto was relaxing and interesting making it a nice activity for a change of pace. The canals in Aviero aren’t spectacular but we enjoyed it and had a very good guide on the boat also.
This was our second tour in 2 days with Jose C. as our guide. The tour was wonderful. Despite the rain during the cruise - Alex, the guide on the cruise, was friendly and entertaining. Jose showed us around Aveiro and Costa Nova and he was kind, patient, and very knowledgeable.
Our tour guide Luis is very nice and caring, sharing the history of Aveiro and Porto. Even though the weather is tricky, Luis tried his best to help us arrange the boat trip. The trip is wonderful
It has been a beautiful run through Costa Nova and Aveiro. I enjoyed it and our guide Filipe was very friendly and he shared with us a lot of interesting information
We had an amazing tour guide who’s name was Alex and we had so much fun. We went on a nice relaxing boat tour, and then we had some free time to relax and look at restaurants. Great experience
Our tour guide in Aveiro, Portugal, made the trip unforgettable! Knowledgeable, friendly, and fun! Additionally, Alex has an amazing voice.
We went to Aviero for a half day and had so much fun! Alex was a great guide, and we saw the beautiful canals, buildings and boats!
Alex is such a great tour guide! He has great knowledge of the city and the veranda ride was beautiful. Aveiro is such a gorgeous scenic city. Alex answered all of our questions and was very informative. I highly recommend taking this tour!
Aviero is very nice, and once again Alex was an incredible guide! The boat ride was a fun way to explore the city and they had free bikes in the city center
Our tour guide Fred was knowledgeable, engaging, and informative. Really spent time g3tting to know us, listened, and crafted an experience that made it a memorable trip.
Bernardo and Sergio were excellent! Bernardo was very entertaining, provided very interesting information during the whole tour.
Diego and Pivotto are great. They explained everything clearly and they are very friendly. Everything went great and on time.
I did afternoon (half day) tour, it was nice and very reasonable. I enjoyed with my friend. Thank you for the loverly tour
We had a lovely day with Diego. He was very informative, and extremely safe driver, timed everything extremely well. And spoken impeccable English. Lovely, clean transportation, very comfortable
Great tour. It is a 4 hour tour. Mario was our guide and Jonas our driver. Mario was very informative and fun. The tour is short and sweet. Enough to see Aveiro and the coast. I recommend it.
The driver estevas was one of the safest and careful drivers we have experienced in all of our tours so far Our guide Hanae gave us excellent and clear commentary But the best of all was her amazing sense of humour ability to connect and communicate with us with humour and understanding Thank them for a great tour
The experience was amazing, we spent the morning in these beautiful places. Maria, the tour guide, was so lovely and nice with us.
This was a perfect tour for us as it was 1/2 day and covered two areas we had hoped to see during our short stay in Porto. Our tour guide, Jose Luis Márcio was excellent and his translation from the Portuguese to English was on point.
Anabela our tour guide made it an incredible trip. She told us incredible stories and history the whole time. Made me want to book another trip. She even went to a bunch of different shops looking for the best price on salt ( she knew I wanted some). I’d love to do another tour with her.
Marcia and Maria were great tour guides. We enjoyed the trip despite the rain. They took us to places we would not have seen if we took the river cruise. We did get to see the sights by bus instead. They made us feel valued and wanted us to have the best experience on the tour.
A great half day tour of Aveira & Costa Nova. Well organised thanks to our guide Rafaela & driver Marcia. Fine short canal tour in Aveira. I think Costa Nova was the stand out for us.
Tour guide Valdemar has excellent English with no accent and can explain in several ways. He also knows enough of the UK culture and history to make the tour relatable. This was also true of fo our spannish co guests. Aveiroand the cruise was excellent clean, not too busy and reasonably priced.
Ana was an excellent tour guide. She was prompt, knowledgeable, friendly, & courteous! Not only did she take us to Aviero & Costa Nova, she gave us insights into what it is like to live in Portugal. Aviero is a cute town & the boat ride was nice. The houses in Costa Nova were colorful. My husband & I both would highly recommend taking this tour with Ana!
I wasn't all that pleased with the actual ride on the Moliceiro, as I was expecting more of a private/smaller tour, and the ticket agent questioned our entry until intervention by our tour guide. Based on how it was advertised, I thought it would have been a smaller group, but we were lumped in with what appeared to be a public tour. But, it was sufficient to say we rode on a Moliceiro. The better part of the tour, which really was private, meaning just the tour guide and us, was very informative and enjoyable. Although I was prepared for it being a walking tour, I must have missed that in the fine print, as I didn't recall seeing that when booking, however, as it was more enjoyable to walk, as Joao was very attentive, and we were able to stop by the shops, the museum and take pictures without the distraction of a vehicle, parking and traffic. I just didn't remember seeing that it was a walking tour, so that must have been in the fine print. Notwithstanding, the tour company was very accommodating, and once we met up with the guide, we took a brief walking tour, went on the Moliceiro, and then Joao drove us out to Costa Nova. It was a wonderful day, the ride out to Costa Nova was nice, and the tour guide made all the difference, as he was welcoming, informative, detailed and Portugal patient! We couldn't have asked for a better guide. I believe his name was Joao. The vehicle was very nice, we were comfortable, had plenty of waters, and the parting gift was also a nice touch! I recommend Joao and Living Tours. They could just possibly use a different service for the Moliceiro Cruise. Be well!
Long drive and boring destination. the guide was not very informative. The boat ride was through a concete canal with no good views. Very disappointing for the time spent.
Trip well organized, guide had to give explanation in 2 languages. His English was not at the correct level. 50 minutes driving 1 way what makes that everything had to go in a hurry.
Amazing tour that is rich in information and beautiful buildings. We were accompanied by the best guide ever! Thanks Mario!
Anna, our guide was truly amazing! She is so sweet and very informative and helpful. We enjoyed the perfect day!
Joanna was our guide and she was fabulous! She was very friendly and knowledgeable- two great assets for a tour guide.
Our tour guide/driver Maria was already outside our hotel even before pick up time. Our drive to Aveiro and back from Costa Nova was very pleasant and Maria gave us a lot of details and information about the places we passed by. We started in Aveiro. Our ride on the Moliceiro wasn’t due till several minutes later so we walked around a little bit to see the beautiful old parts of the city. Then we went to a famous bakery, tried their famous egg dessert. We did our restroom break there also. From there it was an easy walk to the boat. The boat ride was really nice. The views were good to photograph on both sides of the canal. From there we went to Costa Nova to see the beautiful painted houses. Took lots of photos. Maria saw to it that we had our fill in photographing the place. We had so much fun with Maria especially in photo taking. From there she took us to a short side trip to a beautiful beach at the Atlantic side. Then we drove back to our hotel.
