Aveiro, Costa Nova & Coimbra Private Tour From Porto

We had an absolutely fantastic experience with our tour guide, Joao J. We spent an incredible eight hours visiting Coimbra and Aveiro, and he made the entire day both enjoyable and memorable. He was incredibly knowledgeable, helpful, personable, and funny. His knowledge of Portugal’s history, from its fascinating past to current events, was truly impressive. Beyond sharing the history and culture, he went above and beyond by offering great recommendations for restaurants, local food, and other places worth visiting. You could tell he genuinely enjoys what he does and takes great pride in sharing his country with visitors. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide or a better day. I would highly recommend Joao to anyone visiting Portugal. You won’t be disappointed!

We had the most wonderful experience with João, who took our family of four on an unforgettable full-day tour of Coimbra, Aveiro, and Costa Nova! From start to finish, João was absolutely fantastic. He was warm, friendly, engaging, incredibly knowledgeable, and genuinely kind. His English was flawless, making conversation effortless, and we loved hearing his fascinating stories and insights about Portuguese history, culture, and everyday life. João was also an excellent driver, and his comfortable, spacious car made traveling between destinations a pleasure. He was incredibly accommodating and flexible, allowing us to enjoy the day at our own pace. He even doubled as our family photographer, capturing some wonderful photos we’ll treasure! What really made the day special was João himself. By the end of our tour, we felt like we had spent the day exploring Portugal with a good friend rather than a tour guide. We were fortunate to have had João Jesus as our guide for our Porto/Coimbra/Aviero excursion. He was very knowledgeable about history, geography, food and economics; and he filled our available time with a maximum amount of noteworthy scenery and discussions.

Ana was a wonderful guide - very knowledgeable, took time to explain the sites, gave us time to explore on our own. The car ride was super comfortable as well. The places we went - Aveiro, Fatima, and Obidos were all amazing. Highly recommend!!

Our guide was João. He was friendly and articulate, gave very detailed explanations, and covered all the main highlights while tailoring the tour to our specific interests. He also took us to a local spot for lunch that was top notch and not at all touristy. This is an area of Portugal you don't want to overlook if you're staying in Porto — well worth the time investment.

João was such an amazing tour guide we had a wonderful time with him and really enjoyed the tour, the boat ride and had a fabulous lunch. We highly recommend them!

Tiago was excellent at giving us information about all the areas from Porto to Nazare. He also suggested going to Óbidos and where to eat dinner in Nazare. We followed his suggestions and were very happy with his recommendations. At one point along our drive when we stopped for lunch, we were having difficulty communicating with the restaurant workers. We asked Tiago to come in and speak for us. He came right away. Tiago was very friendly and we enjoyed our time with him.

We booked a private tour to Costa Nova, Aveiro and Coimbra for a full day and it was exactly what we wanted. Our driver and guide, Cristovao (Chris) was exceptional. He was so flexible and knowledgeable and recommended an excellent place for lunch. Our tour was during a terrible heat wave so having a great private car with AC was exactly what we needed. Chris even stoped at Senhor da Pedra on the return from our trip. I would definitely book with this tour provider and Chris again.

My wife and I had a wonderful day with our guide, Joao Araujo. He showed us the highlights of Aveiro, Costa Nova, and Coimbra. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. He was very responsive to our wants and needs. We enjoyed our day with João very much.

Nuno Silva has excellent driving skills and is knowledgeable about the itinerary, especially making reservations ahead of time.

Ricardo picked us up in Porto and drove us to Lisbon with stops in Fatima and Tomar. Despite the rainy weather Ricardo arrived early. Was an excellent driver. Truly full of passion for his culture and country. Loved getting to know a lot of history. Ricardo made our day special

The tour was nice and comfortable with well arrangement and organization. The tour guide, Chris is also considerable and knowledgeable to share lots of information and history about the visiting sights. I highly recommend the tour and the service.

Aveiro and Costa Nova Private Tour From Porto was awesome and our guide Nuno was great. He recommended a nice place to have lunch and made the reservation for us and we had a nice meal. Very cute coastal fishing towns.

This was a fantastic tour. Gi was amazing; She had so many wonderful insights and extensive information and history about the places we visited as well about Portugal. We had plenty of time to see everything that we wanted to and she also showed us other sights that were off the beaten track that were super. She also had loads of recommendations for other places to see and eat. Highly recommend.

We thoroughly enjoyed the day with our guide, Joal. The van was comfortable, he was knowledgeable and pleasant and patient with our SN daughter. The cost seemed a little steep at first but we ended up feeling it was a decent value.

The whole day trip was amazing. We struck a rapport with our tour guide Gisela right away. Gisela is very knowledgeable about the places but also very entertaining. She put us at ease and we were soon chatting with her like old friends during the drive between places. We took a lot of pictures on this beautiful day. We will cherish the memories of both the places we visited and our guide Gisela. We did other enjoyable tours with good tour guides but we would still have preferred Gisela!

Wonderful day (4 friends and our guide Giselle). On time pickup and interesting drive to Aveiro with good descriptions of countryside and history. Nice boat ride in canal at Aviero and delicious stop at pastries/coffee shop. Drove to Coimbra with excellent walking tour of university and historical town. Authentic Portuguese lunch was a highlight. Our guide was knowledgeable and very helpful

Spending a full day with Joao Jesus was amazing. He was personable, friendly, knowledgeable, and made us feel like we were lifelong friends. The drives to Aveiro, Coimbra, and Costa Nova went by quickly based on the easy conversation. Joao even took us to a local suckling pig restaurant recommended by our Portuguese friends. You could tell that Joao studies and puts his full effort into his profession. We highly recommend.

This is a great way to experience two very different towns in Portugal. Our enjoyment was greatly enhanced by our wonderful guide João, whose enthusiasm and deep knowledge helped us to appreciate Aveiro and Coimbra beyond each town’s obvious beauty and charm. We also appreciated how flexible João was, providing plenty of opportunities to shape the tour to our particular interests and providing time for us to soak up the atmosphere. From pickup to drop off, everything about this day was special.

This tour was outstanding! Ines and Gisela were amazing guides and Ines was a great driver. Ines’s knowledge of the area and region were remarkable. My husband is a photographer and she did everything she could to get him good shots of the countryside, Flamingoes, and salt plains. We were so impressed with both of them and this was the best tour we’ve taken in Portugal (we’ve been on 3 so far). I would highly recommend this tour and ensure you have tickets to the Coimbra University. This is not to be missed. From the bottom of our hearts, Obrigado, Ines and Gisela!

Jose was a wonderful tour guide. I am so glad we close the private Aveiro and Coimbra tour from Porto. Jose spoke English well and related little tibbits of history all along the way. We saw places we didn’t expect and he made the extra effort to see that we were comfortable and happy. He guided us to an excellent restaurant for lunch. My guide and driver was José Pinho. Firstly the car was a beautiful black Mercedes Benz. My favourite type of car that was clean, comfortable with leather seats. It was a lovely car to travel in for two days, as I had booked two consecutive private Day tours. José Pinho was always extremely courteous, polite, warm, friendly and professional. I felt like he really went above and beyond what was required to make my two days with him as seamless, memorable and enjoyable as possible. I am someone that likes to maximise my opportunities and see as much as I can. José Pinho was incredibly flexible and adaptable to my specific needs and he worked beyond the required hours of the tour to ensure that I got to see everything. I was truly impressed. There were no complaints or pressure from him, and he waited patiently for me until I finished whatever I was doing at every stop. He bought me numerous gifts such as souvenir magnets, food and water. He is a very thoughtful and lovely gentleman. Any time I needed help, he was always more than willing to help. This included making calls for me to check out reservation procedures for sights that I had booked independently, outside of the two private day tours. Aveiro and Coimbra was a very long day and he had a few more airport transfers that he had to complete after he took me back to Porto, but he still spent an incredible amount of time to pack my day with sightseeing. We were on the road end-to-end for almost 12 hours. I always felt comfortable with José Pinho, and he was also a great and safe driver. I would highly recommend Meridian4People and José Pinho to anyone any day and I would use them again. I wish all my tour guides and drivers was like José Pinho!

We had a great day with Miguel who was charming and helpful to everyone and took us to some very interesting sights. Highly recommended to all.

We did the above tour with Milena n it was the most enjoyable tour that we had. Milena made us comfortable n she was so well versed with the history of the places. She never made to haste n we enjoyed visiting Aveiro which was the highlight of the trip with the both ride. She n her dad were very polite n friendly. We recommend them a lot n would like to go with them for more tours if we visit porto again

Unforgettable experience! Me and my boyfriend went to the tour accompanied by Guia João Jesus, an extremely dear, professional and caring Cover. Our walk was wonderful, and we did very well with John. Super would indicate this experience, don't miss out!

The train ride from Sao Bento station, Porto is very pleasant and in an hour and a half you arrive at your destination. The city is very nice and you feel like being on vacation. I took a boat trip through the canals and it allows you to see the different buildings. From there I visited Costa Nova (beach), the trip is made by bus that is not very frequent (it is advised to check schedules, both out and back) The beach is very extensive, but the sea is very dangerous. The building is very picturesque with houses painted in red, blue or green stripes with white that make them very attractive to the eye.
