Authentic Porto Small Group Food Tour With Local Tastings

A wonderful experience and great introduction to Porto food culture and history. Ou guide Jose was knowledgeable and enthusiastic and made the tour special

We had the most marvelous Private Food Tour of Porto. Our guide was Diogo Alves with Blue Dragon - we scheduled via Viator. Diogo was so incredibly knowledgeable - he provided not only the details and ingredients of what we were eating, but also (and very interestingly) the history of the food and drink! He also had a great rapport with the local servers/store owners we visited! This was a 10 out of 10 and we highly recommend Diogo and Blue Dragon City Tours.

We did a food tour and Igor was a great tour guide! Funny, friendly, patient, informative. Made sure to follow up on any questions with recommendations. Clearly enjoys what he does and is joyful on the tour.

A very enjoyable and interesting tour - great information on food, local history, and other interesting places in the centre of Porto. We tasted a considerable amount of food and beverages in a variety of establishments. Our tour guide, Cristobal, was an excellent guide, relaxed, informative and engaging. The tour surpassed our expectations and we highly recommend it.

Lots of interesting stops and enough to call it a meal! Sandwich at small tavern with beer, cod cakes, charcuterie, sweets, port and more - along with interesting Porto history. Definitely worthwhile. All in Balhao area.

Carol was our guide and she was fabulous! Besides taking us to wonderful restaurants and shops, she included some local sightseeing stops and history. The range of food, wine, pastries, port, desserts, and beer we sampled was excellent. Carol was curious about us and shared her background when we inquired. Plus, our group of guests were terrific! A lovely afternoon and evening.

6 of us (3 couples) met our guide Ana Bakx for the Porto food and wine tour. Over a leisurely 3 hours we visitied a number of lovely cafes and delicatesants for tasty food and excellent wine and port. Ana was the perfect host, explaining points of historical interest as well as the cultural aspects of the lovely food we were given. A great way to sample and explore this vibrant city. We loved it

Lot of walking on cobblestones and much uphill. Sometimes hard to hear as much activity going on. Very good guide who provided interesting info.

Fantastic experience tasting the local delicacies. Igor was an incredible guide, super charismatic and full of really interesting stories and information.

A great food and history tour and there was tastes of Pastel de nata, bifana, salt cod fritters, tasting of muscat, vienho verde and ginja. Not too heavy of a tasting. Our guide was the highlight ( Jose-Miguel) he was attentive, interesting and knew his city and more importantly he was authentically interested in each person and that they had a great experience! Highly recommend Jose! He also sent us additional recommendations after the tour. I would do this tour on my first night so you know what to go back for and can use his other recommendations.

Wonderful experience! Fun, factual and tasty. Jose was a fantastic guide. Perfect timing if you have an early arrival like we did. Dropped bags and spent 3 hours following Jose. The group were all interesting and chatty. Wholly recommend this as a great part of any trip to magnificent Porto.

We have been on many food tours throughout the world, and this one was not impressive. None of the stops were notable (food or ambience). Food we tasted was very basic-most of which we had already tried on our own (ie canned sardines, a shot of port, pastel, cherry liquor in chocolate, fried cod, a pork sandwich, a soup). Not only were the food selections basic, the places didn’t seem unique. And the guide, though nice enough, was also just average.

Jose was magnificent!! I accidentally signed up for the private tour! Such a great mistake to make. We enjoyed his knowledge of all things Porto and his educational goals!! You have a real gem!!!

Highlight of our trip! Our guide Teresa was excellent! Very knowledgeable about the history of Portugal. We visited several authentic food venues, a tavern, a bakery, a wine store. The food was delicious and so wasn’t the beer, wine and port. It was a small group of nine so we also met some wonderful people. Recommend!

Wow, what an experience. DJ was exceptional as a host. His passion for food and Porto was amazing. A great time was had by all on the tour. The food was also very good. Would highly recommend.

This was 3 hours packed with eating and drinking various traditional meals and local wines. Our first stop included a cod fish croquet, soup, dessert. And there were 3 more stops afterwards! All the food and wine selections were great. You will not go away hungry. There’s an option for a full meal but I don’t think you’ll be hungry after the first 2 hours.

The guide was informative, pleasant and provided a comfortably paced food and beverage tour. It was a very enjoyable experience.

We did the food tour on a Sunday. We later learned that not all venues are open so they said they were limited in where to take us. (If they know its subpar, why offer it??) Several groups started at the same time so instead of staggering the groups or choosing different venues, they switched the order of the meals. Our group followed this order 1. Digestive liquor 2. Dessert with coffee 3. Dinner (an awful sandwich, a cold bacalao fritter and a lukewarm soup in a rickety chair and table outside a casual dive) 4. Appetizer (charcuterie and porto) Obviously this is not the order in which food needs to be served especially considering the amount we paid to participate in this experience. I wouldn't recommend this tour. The quality of the food was not what we expected for the money paid. On a different note I registered 3 people and for days tried to cancel one. Even though I tried for days on the platform I was unsuccessful. I tried texts, emails and phone calls. I was ignored. I went in person a day ahead of the tour and they said they would talk to the platform people to get a refund and not to worry it would be refunded that same day. I never got the refund.. I will not be using TripAdvisor platform or the local Porto provider again.

Teresa gave an outstanding tour. We learned the customs, history and culture of many Porto foods. The pace was perfect with sit down eating at different cafes. It was not takeaway or grab and go. The food and drinks were interesting and tasty.
