An Unforgettable Evening: Authentic Portuguese Dinner In Porto

We had a great experience, all the food was delicious and interesting. We had some wonderful conversations with João about the culture, food and the wine. A highlight of our trip. Portugal is great!

We were treated to a welcome refreshment and an amazing charcuterie board, prawns with savory rice for dinner, and a wonderful dessert of fresh fruit and custard. The meal was delicious and his home inviting. Joao and Matt are wonderful and gracious hosts, Joao a great chef, and the conversation was engaging and lively. Having the opportunity to dine in a private home while on vacation was a wonderful experience that I would highly recommend!

What a wonderful, gracious host and chef! It was an evening filled with good food and conversation. The wine selection was perfectly paired with the main dish of duck ham, rice, tomato and spinach.

Joao was an incredible host! He warmly welcomed us to his home with open arms, and he wined and dined us all evening. Not only was he a gracious host, but he is an accomplished chef who created a fantastic meal. His friends Sylvia and Pedro also dropped in, and they were an amazing and entertaining couple who shared the evening with us. We learned so much about the city of Porto and the countries of Portugal and Brazil, and they all facilitated connections that bring people together to make the world a smaller place. João was the perfect host. Every detail was well thought out, including the music, which always sets the mood! The appetizers, dinner, wine, and of course, the conversation all made for an amazing evening. It’s a fun way to meet new people and learn about each others’ backgrounds and experiences. Dinner at João's house was incredible: great food and great people! The house is very cozy, beautifully decorated with lots of plants. We had good conversations over sangria and wine, accompanied by some good appetizers, followed by a delicious dinner. I met really nice people at João's house, it was an unforgettable experience. The dinner at João’s was such a nice experience! Delicious food, a warm and cozy environment and great people. João is the best host, super friendly and with such meaningful conversations. I am a local, I live in Porto, but I would for sure repeat this experience once again.

Well, it's hard to express what such a night I had there with my friends. João is very welcoming; his house is so cosy and the food, oh my god, is absolutely delicious. I highly recommend and I'm pretty sure I'll do it again as soon as I reach Porto once again. Don't miss this opportunity to have a real Amazon meal in Portugal.

WoW! What a treat! I wasn’t expecting anything but a dinner in somebody’s house in the beautiful city of Porto. But for my great surprise, the dinner became a feast and the evening turned out to a house party, where I’ve met incredible people from different parts of the world in a relaxed and beautiful environment. The host is a talented and charismatic brazilian chef who knows very well how to make people feel happy with his luscious mix of delicious food, good wine selection, nice music and good conversations. Highly recommended!

I've been to João's dinners twice, and I can say both were amazing! His food is so full of flavour, his place and the music are great. It's not just a dinner... It's a whole experience, as João would also invite some of his friends, so the conversation was very nice as well. You can proceed expect to eat great food, meet nice people and have a great time. What a warm and cozy dinner party with Joao and friends! This is one of the best nights I had in Porto. The dinner menu drew from Joao's Brazilian and Portuguese roots and was simply divine. Such a great night making new friends and enjoying this gorgeous, cozy apartment with great views. Traveling is so fun but can get lonely and dinners like this are a friendly respite in the home of a friend.

It was my first experience and I confess I was very impressed, as it was very welcoming, fun and tasty. Cozy, as the Mood allowed people to stay at ease and very comfortable. Funny, as a consequence of this relaxed and welcoming Mood, the conversation between all the present flowed like we were longtime friends, with the exchange of personal and professional experiences, future projects, musical skills, etc. And tasty, because we were offered a variety of flavors, textures and aromas that involved us throughout the night... including the care of the different nutritional options without excluding or differentiating...
