This was a great way to get just a taste of Fado. It is a fairly tight space and the entrance can be a little hard to find at night so give yourself some time.

Lovely Fado with very talented musicians. Two bands. Second one better than first. The singer gave a nice intro to each song. A bit cheesy but sweet. Nice atmosphere but 100% tourists. Would have been nice to find a show with local people but maybe that doesn’t exist. Still, a nice show, worth the ticket price to see some original Fado playing.
What a wonderful experience! I absolutely loved being introduced to the history and culture of Portugal through its music. Learning about the traditions and stories behind the music made the experience even more meaningful. The musicians were absolutely fantastic — incredibly talented players — and I especially loved hearing the beautiful sound of the Portuguese guitar. It was such a unique and memorable part of the evening. And, of course, enjoying a glass of Port while taking in the music made it even better! A wonderful introduction to Portugal’s history, music, and culture. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute and would highly recommend this experience to anyone wanting to experience a special part of Portugal.
While the entrance was a bit hard to find when we walked there from our guest house, it was a tremendous experience overall. The two different styles of fado were great to hear one after the other. The room was on the ground floor of a building hundreds of years old, and it was intimate, comfortable, and welcoming. It was not at all some sort of tourist trap presentation - the authenticity was unquestionable, and I see a lot of live music shows. I would definitely come back for another show next time I get to Porto.
enjoyable; nice atmosphere, good welcome, great singers and musicians, convenient location though not what we expected (looked like a small shop).
Excellent show and venue! Highly recommend.
Phenomenal experience — not to miss while in Porto! I booked this ticket because it seemed like a must-do while visiting, and came in not quite knowing what to expect. We were completely blown away by the insane level of talent from the singers and guitarists. The intimate, historic venue added so much to the atmosphere. It’s warm down there, so dress accordingly. The musicians left a lasting impression on us, and I would recommend this to anyone visiting Porto.
I had good things about this place in Porto while searching in a Lisbon site. We grabbed spots for the last session same day since the earlier sessions were filled. It was a fairly small and intimate place. The singers and guitar players were all great. The first group was performing in the Coimbra style which had a vibrant and pleasant vibe. The second was traditional Fado. The quality of both singers and players was high. The room was perfect for the music.
Fado Maior Do Porto was outstanding -- professional, intimate, and very moving. The setting was lovely and the voices were beyond belief. I'm so glad we had this experience. Would absolutely recommend!
Wonderful intimate experience of 2 types of Fado music, beautiful guitar and haunting vocals. Refreshments Limited to wine or water, but hey we're there for the music! Location- stone cellar, acoustic baffled ceiling. Atmospheric lighting.
Great location , intimate venue and great fado experience . Would definitely recommend to see this if you are staying in Porto
Excellent concert heating Fado traditional and Fado from Coimbra. The atmosphere was very intimate. We really enjoyed it.
We liked the intimacy of this setting. Very nice atmosphere, good musicians and impressive singers. It was a special moment during our citytrip. Our hearts were touched!
Excellent concert. We really enjoyed the intimate setting and atmosphere. It was nice to hear both the traditional style of Fado along with the Coimbra style. That made the experience very good.
What a powerfully moving experience. The performance was in an historic tavern so the ambience was amazing. It included a complimentary glass of red port or water, and in the hour we heard two different fado groups: one in the Coimbra style (all men) and the other in the Lisbon style (a woman singing but backed by men). They were both superb. You don't need to understand Portuguese to feel the music which is hauntingly beautiful. The price was only about 21 euros, well below affordable. Do not miss this experience if you are in Porto.
Staged in an classic tavern right off the riverfront, this intimate setting enjoying amazing guitarists and soloists who enchanted us with the renditions of classic Portuguese Fado performances.. We took advantage of this 1-hour show during our final night in Porto... a delightful evening to end our vacation in this historic country. Highly recommend!
This was our first experience with Fado. We’ve had several Flamenco experiences while in Spain. The venue was beautiful and the people were welcoming. We enjoyed the port while waiting. What a treat to experience two styles of Fado. Both were beautiful and moving. The voices, the guitar, the emotion of it. We particularly enjoyed the voice and passion and engagement of the male singer with the cape - I don’t recall his name. What a beautiful and meaningful evening. Highly recommend! The venue layout meant everyone had a great view.
Warm welcome including a very pleasant glass of port Two sets Each featured two fantastic guitarists and a singer All without speakers, how wonderful A genuine highlight of our stay in this fabulous city
The first 25 minutes, an old lady and 2 good guitar players. The other 25 minutes: 3 bachelor guys learning to play guitar.
We loved. The setting is great, cool old building, small group, and we heard a variety of sets. The port wine was nice extra.
This 1-hour fado show was held in an historical tavern near the waterfront in Porto. The walls were stone and decorated with 12-string Portuguese guitars which is the instrument of fado. The performance included Coimbra fado as well as Lisbon fado, and both were outstanding. The performance also included either a glass of red port wine or water. Although we didn't understand a word being sung, the feeling of this incredible music is universal. The setting was intimate with probably less than 30 people in attendance. There was only one staff member who showed people to their seats and brought their drinks; she was largely unobtrusive. We booked through Get Your Guide and the show cost 33 euros for two of us....absolutely well worth it.
Great 1-hour fado in Porto with two talented artist groups and a lovely atmosphere. Truly memorable!!!!!!!This is something you simply shouldn’t miss.
The venue was wonderful and all the performers were great. This is the best entertainment value we have found in Porto. Get there 30 minutes early to get a front row seat!
Link to meeting point was wrong and sent us in a different direction we got to right place one minute after and the lady there said she had no seats why are they selling tickets if they don’t have enough seats. Venue was small and congested there was no proper stage just a small podium room was rectangular and audience was seated on the two sides performers had there sides to the audience Not worth the money
Very authentic experience, small intimate venue with truly talented artists, 3 individual singers and a complimentary glass of port . We all enjoyed the experience
This was our first Fado experience and we enjoyed it very much. Just 20E per person. Two different groups performed in an intimate space. The musicians and singers were great. After this we went to a more commercial performance and there is no comparison. Fado Maior do Porto was the best. No forced expenses for dinner and no promotions of CDs. This is a great place to experience Fado.
It was the best experience in Portugal 🇵🇹 I strongly recommend it to everyone Portuguese, foreigners, Everyone will love their performance!
The venue is ideal. Very welcoming and a nice touch to have a glass of porto wine included. The show featured a male singer and then switched to a female singer half time with different musicians so a variation.
Perfect setting in a small intimate venue, with simple stage, seating and a glass of Port. All the focus is on the music & musicians. So moving and magical.
We bought the tickets online (Euro 21/person), it was 1 hour concert with glass of port. The concert is in a very intimate space for about 35-40 people max. It was like in two parts - first was singing a young man, student with two guys playing guitars and the second was a lady again with two guys playing guitars. We absolutely loved it, it was very authentic. The only thing I would have comment was the lighting, better to say nearly no lights so we haven't seen the faces of the singers. We would love to visit this place again.
I was late because when I pushed directions (in stead of the address) on my Viatour ticket, the map took me to a park far from the venue. Once I got settled, though, I was mesmerized. Such powerful music leading to deep emotions.
We were in awe. It was such an incredible experience. There were two groups, one was the “opening” group and the other seemed to be the main one as they lasted longer. I did not feel the hour pass by. It was brilliant and they sang with so much emotion. The location was also really great. I’d only recommend people to come early to secure their seats because otherwise you can get back seats and not see too well. But regardless that didn’t impact it much.
What a great show, we really loved the 2nd performance; good voice and drama vibes as we expected of a Fado show. We think this is a must see when you are in Porto; this show takes place just outside the city centre in a really nice cave, you will get a glass of port (or water) upon arrival. Make sure you get there in time (preferably 30 min earlier) so you can have a good seat to enjoy the show. The only minor thing was that the show didn't last an hour as mentioned on the website when purchasing the ticket via Get your Ticket; the show finished after 45 minutes.
What great musicians and vocalists! Intimate space that creates the right mood for Fado with excellent performers. One hour concert time was perfect and you can walk down to the riverfront after.
Excellent experience! It's a small venue so very intimate. Enjoyed both the student fado performance and the professionals. The guy playing the Portuguese guitar was amazing.
The performances were amazing! And the performers had a wonderful rapport with each other, do not miss this one hour!
Wonderful authentic experience, would highly recommend, the port on arrival was a nice welcome addition.
Great place to hear authentic Fado in Porto, a city not traditionally associated with Fado. As a local person, it is great to finally be able to enjoy a traditional Fado show in my own city, without having to go to Lisbon or to Coimbra. I've already been there 3 times and it was always fantastic. Well done!
It was an amazing show, so unique and a lovely cozy atmosphere. The venue host makes sure you have a great view of the stage from every seat. Port provided as you take your seat or when the show starts (it’s up to you). Well worth the money and taking the time to go watch, the singers are amazing. An unforgettable experience.
The best or Porto, where you can enjoy Fado in a marvelous location. The service, people, environment are all exceptional.
Travelers should know that this is a small glimpse into the world of Fado. Beautifully sung, nice guitar playing. Nice to experience. It's a shame that the lighting on the singer and singer was so bad that it doesn't do them justice.
In general, the experience is very pleasant, the site is cozy, but it was a little hot and the drink was a bit expensive since it was not included.
It was a truly enjoyable and unforgettable evening. In an ancient tavern in the Miragaia district of Porto, we were warmly welcomed and escorted to our VIP seats with a glass of port wine. Inside, it was cozy and cool in the heat outside. The room is small, and you are practically on stage and in the midst of the action. This is not an event for tourist groups with cheap food offerings and pseudo-fado. Here, it is a unique and intimate encounter and connection with two styles of fado from Lisbon and Coimbro that have developed over generations. Unique singing with black cloaks in one style and a lively and passionate manner in the other fado style. The audience was international, the artists and musicians varied in performance but united in talent. Whether singing or music or both together - it was beautiful, unexpectedly beautiful, sometimes romantic, sometimes heart-wrenching, sometimes lively, sometimes contemplative, sometimes joyful, sometimes moving. It was truly pure enjoyment - thank you very much for that.
Very intimate little place as described in the advertisement. We spent a very interesting hour. Several artists performed on stage and different styles were sung.
Good place to experience fado, a tavern with character.
Concert with 2 different groups, classic fado performed very well by both. Good contact with the audience and nice atmosphere. Intimate and pleasant local, easy serving that suited to the place / mood: only white / red port wine + water.
A wonderful and very emotional show. Varied in its unique genre. I recommend it to anyone who loves music of all kinds. Port wine is absolutely appreciated!
Very good place to listen to Fado. Intimate place to spend an hour of music. Both trios were excellent, both the guitars and the singers. Arrive early as it starts on time.
Great voice and ambience, nice memory.
A beautiful musical discovery in a very intimate setting. You have to dare to get out of the tourist circuits a bit but it is really worth it. A warm and friendly welcome.
