Guest House Douro

What a fabulous hotel! Nestled right in the centre of Porto an easy walk to everything. Guest House Douro provides the most exceptional customer service. Thank you to Luisa for being so very helpful. The breakfast experience was such a pleasant start to the day. Thank you!

Prime location . Thats the main thing . Rooms are pretty small . Even to go around it will be like 2 person traffic jam and you’ve to follow one one lane rules lmao ! But you’ve a balcony ( can’t put any chairs - but standing view ) . The hosts are all amazing . They make you feel like family . Breakfast is great with fresh and exotic fruits . Don’t be shy to shine like a celebrity when people are taking pictures of you in the balcony ! No - not you , but the building is unesco protected - so people will be taking pictures of the building - not you lol! So don’t get too excited ! Don’t roam around near the balcony in underwear or you’ll be part of the Instagram post . IMPORTANT : make sure to book shuttle with the hotel so it has special permit to drop you off in front st the hotel entrance , otherwise you’ll end up dragging your suitcase on cobble stones and long alleys . It could be a bit high , but totally worth it .

This place is so good I thought of keeping quiet. But it needs to thrive. Great location, great staff and in my opinion room 202 is the best. You can leave the curtains open and go to sleep looking at the magnificent Port cellars. I liked a cheeky glass of Port before bed sitting in the provided seat looking across the Douro at one's own little balcony. The only development area to the guest house...offer Stilton to be delivered to the room. The English and the Portuguese make a great partnership.

This hotel was exceptional. With the very friendly and helpful staff (Luis, Alejandro, and Luisa), to the cleanliness, robust breakfasts (amazing continental breakfast) and service, and central location, I cannot recommend this place enough. The only heads up I would give is that rooms are tiny and you can't drive up to the hotel directly. If you're ok, with that, then there's no downside staying here.
