We stayed here for one night last week and really enjoyed it. The reception team was very friendly and professional. We arrived early, and although our room wasn’t ready yet, they called us as soon as it was, which we really appreciated. The room was spacious and comfortable, and the hotel was very child-friendly. The location is great, with lots of restaurants, shops, and supermarkets like Auchan and Pingo Doce within walking distance. You can also easily walk for example to the Igreja de Santo Ildefonso and Ribeira do Porto. The outdoor area with the pool was great, it looked really pretty, relaxing, and felt like a little oasis in the city. We also enjoyed a coffee by the pool, and the lady serving us was very friendly. We’d definitely stay here again!

Great location and clean rooms. Front desk staff were great. Several staff members were weirdly particular about rules during breakfast, including not allowing chairs to be moved between tables and making sure guests were pushing rather than pulling the knob on the orange juice machine…
I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. I had such a wonderful stay there. Every single staff member was so pleasant and helpful. The location is excellent, the rooms are well equipped and comfy. The spa is small but a lovely way to spend an hour. The pool and garden are beautiful! Recommend 💯!!
The NO drinking water policy is unbelievable for a 4 stars hotel. Don’t expect your guest to drink from the Tap. It may be ok for some but not all. I am sensitive to chlorine and when boiled, I can taste the mud. How much can you save for a bottle of water everyday? It inconvenient an elderly like me to buy everyday and walk up the slopes. Try to speak to the reception and they say it is the hotel’s policy. I think the hotel must highlight this policy in the website. I will definitely not book and not recommend others. I’m sorry.
I had a great stay at Catalonia Porto and would definitely recommend it. A special mention goes to Tiago at reception — he was friendly, professional, and genuinely helpful. He went the extra mile to find a solution for me, which I truly appreciated. The hotel itself has a cozy boutique feel, which makes the stay more personal and relaxing. There is also a SPA area with a sauna, perfect for unwinding after a day in the city. One of the highlights is the charming, green inner courtyard with sun loungers and a swimming pool. The only downside is that the pool is seasonal — in my opinion, it could already be open in April, as temperatures around 20°C feel perfectly comfortable for guests from Central and Northern Europe. The rooms are very well designed and equipped, and the beds are extremely comfortable. Breakfast was especially impressive — a great selection with a nice focus on local cuisine. I was pleasantly surprised to even find canned sardines, which added an authentic Portuguese touch. Overall, a wonderful stay with great service and atmosphere.
