I would not recommend Viva Maya by Wyndham to anyone. Our stay was disappointing from start to finish: Unpleasant Odors & Construction: There is a bad smell throughout the entire hotel. On top of that, the property is currently under construction, which completely ruins the relaxing vacation atmosphere. Aggressive & Deceptive Sales Pitch: During the first few days, we were cornered by staff trying to sell us a membership. The pressure was extremely inappropriate: they forced us to show the logo on our credit card (whether it was Visa or Mastercard) under the pretext of offering a 15% discount on future stays. They even pushed us to justify our financial situation and explain why we didn't want to spend more money with them. To make matters worse, the promised 15% discount was never even delivered, as it came with hidden extra conditions that were never disclosed to us beforehand. Unreliable Wi-Fi: Every night after 10:00 PM or 11:00 PM, the internet connection was completely cut off. A total waste of time and money. We will not be returning to any Viva Maya.

A Wonderful Vacation at Viva Azteca by Wyndham Riviera Maya ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had a wonderful stay at Viva Azteca by Wyndham Riviera Maya and truly enjoyed every moment of our vacation. The resort has a beautiful, relaxed atmosphere, lovely tropical surroundings, a great beach, delicious food, and everything you need for a perfect getaway. We especially appreciated the warm and friendly atmosphere throughout the resort. A special thank you to the entire staff for their kindness, attention, and genuine hospitality. Everyone was welcoming, helpful, and always greeted us with a smile. Your wonderful service made our vacation even more special. We came home with beautiful memories and a big smile on our faces. ❤️ Thank you, Viva Azteca, for a fantastic vacation! We would be happy to come back again and highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for a relaxing and memorable stay in Riviera Maya.
⭐⭐ 2/10 — Very Disappointing Experience Unfortunately, our stay at this resort was a very disappointing experience. The only real positives were the location and the fact that it is close to a market. Other than that, there were very few things that stood out positively. Unaccommodating staff: We were downgrading from a Deluxe Room and simply asked if we could have an ocean-view room instead. We were told no, with very little effort to accommodate the request. Room temperature/AC: The AC in our room was constantly stuck around 18°C, so we were freezing. We called someone to fix it, but instead they put the room on heat at 34°C! There was no proper way for us to control the temperature, which made the room extremely uncomfortable. There was also no AC in the common areas, which made spending time around the resort uncomfortable. Very little happening at the resort: There wasn't much going on at the resort, so we ended up taking a taxi to the mall every day. On the first day, the staff helped us arrange a taxi from the lobby. However, on the next two days, we were left to wait outside ourselves to get a taxi. It honestly felt like the service became worse with each passing day. Food: The food was below average overall. Surprisingly, we didn't get shrimp anywhere during our stay. The guacamole and juices were highly diluted, and much of the food was bland. The restaurants were equally disappointing. The Mexican restaurant was the only one I would rate around 7/10. Everything else was below 5/10 in my opinion. Café: The café staff didn't seem to know what fillings were in the sandwiches they were serving. We had to ask basic questions about the food and couldn't get a clear answer, which was very frustrating. Beach service — biggest disappointment: The worst part was the lack of drink service at the beach. This is the first resort I've stayed at where we had to get up from our beach chairs and walk to the bar ourselves every time we wanted a drink. For an all-inclusive resort, I expected basic beach service. And the beach itself had sooooo much seaweed too!! Overall, there were too many issues, and the experience seemed to decline day by day. The location was convenient and being close to a market was a plus, but those positives weren't enough to make up for the poor service, uncomfortable rooms, lack of amenities/service, and disappointing food. Overall rating: 2/10. I would not return to this resort
**Great Family Stay — Excellent Kids’ Club Activities. We had a wonderful family stay at Viva Azteca. Our 7-year-old daughter and 4-year-old son loved the kids’ club, and Sehem and the rest of the kids’ club personnel were fantastic with them. The staff were consistently friendly, polite, and helpful. Dayana at the front desk deserves special mention for going above and beyond to resolve an issue with our third-party booking. The food was good, and we especially enjoyed the sea bass at the Asian restaurant. The rooms are somewhat dated and would benefit from updating. Handheld showers would also be more convenient, particularly for families with young children. Overall, Viva Azteca is a welcoming, family-friendly resort with an excellent kids’ club and consistently polite, helpful staff\.
My whole family really enjoyed my stay at Viva Maya by Wyndham. We loved the amenities, the nature when walking around the resort and also the vibe of the resort as a whole. It felt very safe, the workers were friendly, welcoming and energetic while getting everyone to participate in activities. We loved all the activities as they keep you entertained! The food was great, the cafe was so calming, there was a lot of options and the entertainment in the evening was so fun and engaging. They also do a good job at keeping the property and rooms very clean. The only improvement was the wifi connection as it didn’t work everywhere including rooms. My children felt that a week wasn’t enough and we are so eager to go back. I would definitely recommend this resort.
