An overall disappointing experience. There was no communication from crew when we boarded. English skills were non-existent. We were told nothing. Most people hadn’t touched a fishing rod after 2 hours of watching the deckhand do the fishing. Skipper was slow to change strategy which meant hours of inactivity.
Only 1 hour of fishing for small fish. The description is a lie. They also dont provide you with snorkeling gear. They want you to purchase on board. Also they won't let you use life jackets
Booked an excursion with phuket cheap tour After a back and fourth with agent named Nazar The boat ride was nice but the fishing action was nil.. they hype up the game but don't deliver on the day. Company was good but they didn't stick their word or the actual tour for the day
The trip was very disappointing. My expectations wasn't even too big since fishing can't be guaranteed. 1. The boat was overcrowded, 9 or 10 people fishing + 3 or 4 kids on board, and had to be in the same side of the boat when dropping the line. You can imagine how hard it was to keep the line not get tangled to each other. 2. The crew was definitely either lazy or was part of SOP, I don't know. But we only moved once. No burley bucket, not even have more than 1 kind of bait. 3. I asked to use a small part of the oily fish that we caught as bait, because we only caught 5 or 6 baby fish, less than 30cm, but the crew refused. 4. We were promised for 2 sessions of fishing and 1 session of swimming & snorkeling. But it was only 1 session of fishing and 1 session of swimming, no snorkeling offered even it was mentioned in the website that snorkeling equipment is included. Overall it was a huge waste of time and money.
This tour was just OK Not enough time fishing, too long on the boat with nothing to do, tour guides didn't speak much English.
Not great if you want to do some serious fishing. Racha boat trip with a little bit of fishing. 90% of the time fishing is just trolling while commuting to and from the island. I was baffled we caught anything. The lures they were using were just really big fly rod flies. The equipment is old with some reels being kept alive with tape and prayers. You pull numbers to see who reels in first. I was only able to reel in one. And they make you sit in the fighting chair for a 2kg skipjack it’s really silly. When we got to racha island they wanted us to swim and wait for them to cook. So while they were cooking I was fishing on my own and once they saw me they were yelling at me even though everyone was done swimming. Being told not to fish while on a fishing trip is crazy. When we did finally stop and fish they made us all fish off the same side of the boat. 🤦♂️ they had us using cut bait and a really heavy weight for bottom fishing but instead they kept telling us to reel in constantly and to move the rod up and down as if we were jigging but not using a jig. But this boat had more than enough rods for everyone so I’m glad I didn’t have to hand line fish and the boat was not a long tail boat so that was a pleasant surprise.
Unless you have never been fishing before, don’t waste your time and money. Let’s start with the crew! Captain was Thai and deckhad was from Myanmar and neither could speak a word of English as promised in the itinerary. Normally this would not be a problem as my wife is local however the captain would not come out of the wheelhouse unless it was to fish for his own dinner leaving the deckhand who could speak neither Thai or English. Unfortunately they also had no interest in sorting out the numerous tangles that occurred due to ten people bottom fishing at the same time leaving myself as an experienced fisherman doing their job for them. Next is the equipment!! Old, antiquated and broken is the best way to describe it. The rod I was given had 3 broken eyelets and many others had broken reels that failed when trying to retrieve the terminal tackle from 50 metres. Lucky there were no larger fish caught. When I pointed out the damaged equipment my wife was told by the captain that we should have spent more money on an expensive tour which, considering they changed 2800 Baht per person with 10 people on board makes it a 28000 Baht trip is much more than a private fishing trip. Finally the game fishing!! Well if that’s what you want to call it. I would call it catching bait and not much of it. They advertise with photos of sailfish which are obviously taken from another site. The lures that were trawled behind the boat were only a couple of centimetres long, similar to a samaki bait jig so there was never any chance of raising a sailfish , but I guess it would have been possible for a sail to come up on one of the few 25cm queen fish that were hooked. Imagine my surprise when the deck hand insisted on the customers reel in a 25cm fish in the game chair, what a joke. Funnily the largest fish of the day was a dead cod that had died and floated to the surface because of barotrauma which the crew promptly gaffed to take home and feed the family. Everything else that was caught is what I would refer to as bait.
None three hours trolling one hour to fish. It was just a boat ride. Worst ever, wasted money, pictures showed were incorrect no large fish
Not great. Fishing was so-so, didnt get to touch a rod the entire time. Started with trawling then proceeded to do drop lines with a spool instead of a rod. Crew was distant and just did their job (which is fair) but didn't interact with the people on the boat much. Seeing as how we didn't manage to catch many fish I thought they would make the effort to chit chat and entertain us a bit- point out maybe some islands/ introduce us to some local things that we passed etc. But the crew kept to themselves and we just sat in the boat in silence for almost 7 hours.
Boat was good, staff great, good food, swimming snokling great, the fishing wasn't what add says, there was 15 of us so u all pick numbers 1 to 15 then 1st fish 1st then 2nd so on we caught 3 fish total 3 people got a go. Hand line fishing for 30 min in like 45mtrs of water not fun at all
Very nice staff, good food, nice people, good boat. We enjoeyed our day very much. The kids loved the day and the fishing.
Good daytrip for families. Very good organised incl. transfers, food, guides, boat and route. Pickup and return was on time. We had a small breakfast, very good lunch + snacks and drinks of very good quality. Very nice guides and boatcrew. Everything in good condition. We got fish! Small ones but that was ok. Maybe if you are only interested in fishing big fish there might be other options. We enjoyed our day a lot. Thank you!
Me getting a fish never fished before yep my mate done tons of it but did not get one ha ha ha everyone should try it
Great trip. Enjoyed the fishing. Tour operators were very helpful. Random characters to get to 100 character minimum.
The unpleasant experience started even at the booking stage. Upon booking, all dates are available to book, however I was then communicated that the tour only operates three days a week, so I had to reschedule my other tour plans. [They communicated that only after I sent an email to confirm my booking and it’s not them communicating to me about it first.] The tour itinerary was okay and we did catch some fish. However, the guide is really unfriendly and her face, the whole time, looks like she doesn’t even want to be here. The other thing is there’s no fishing rod assigned to each person. There’re only like four rods on the boat and the whole group has to take turns pulling the rod according to the number randomly assigned to each person. And guess what, that guide keeps missing up numbers and I had the chance to pull the fishing rod ONLY ONE TIME for the whole trip. That’s ridiculous. The horror doesn’t end even after we arrived back to the pier. The minivans that’s supposed to take us back to our hotels weren’t there. We had to wait for around half an hour for the vans to arrive! I mean what kind of management would let that happen. Overall, this is definitely one of the bad, if not the worst, tours that I’ve ever experienced in Thailand.
The website is totally false advertisement. One guide said there hasn’t been a marlin caught in 10 years.
Boat staff were friendly and helpful, and the lunch on-board was actually quite good. Highlight was snorkelling at the island. But the fishing was not so good...a couple guests caught 2 small fish via manual line fishing, while 1 guest reeled in a fish while trolling. Enjoyable day overall, but makes for a long day if your main intent is fishing & catching fish...you're better off going to a fresh water fishing park.
Staff on the boat were very friendly and helpful, and lunch was actually quite good. But don't expect to catch many fish...we had 2 people catch small fish by manual line and 1 person reeled in a couple fish while trolling. Nice to be out on the water, but it makes for a long day with so little actual fishing.
Really caught the fish, thank you for the professional service and guidance of the service staff! Worth the trip!
I hope the crew can tell us about sea fishing skills. The boat meal is not bad. Snorkeling is more fun. But there is no Boracay, the Great Barrier Reef is so beautiful, it may be the relationship of the sea. There is a seasickness medicine on board, you can ask the crew to ask for it. Ice water and cola are available on board, cola is good to drink
Our boat was called Sommai fishing tour + Lovely boat trip + Good snorkeling at the stop Saw a big Marlin (Swordfish) jumping in front of the boat 40-50 meters. + some small Groupers (Sea bass) we got. + lunch was partly on the fish we caught and there was chicken, rice and fruit -no English speaking guide -no guided tour in the form of tell us where we were or tell us about the sea and islands we passed which would have been nice. - toilet very dirty -no successful (0=fishes) in about 5 hours total trolling. We were the only Europeans, the rest were from China, Japan and Koreans. But still a really nice tour on Andamansea!
