Bed was comfortable. There were a few english tv channels available, news and movies. My biggest issue is the Air Con. You can set it as low as 16C but the actual room temperature will be around 22.5c at the lowest in the early morning. It was a bit too warm for my preference.
Stylish standalone villas with small private pools perfect for a private getaway. Overall, the facilities at the resort are very good and well maintained but service levels let them down. While the villas are modern and tastefully appointed with daily housekeeping, all the drawers and cabinets in the kitchen are empty save for some cups and glasses. There aren’t even teaspoons to make tea. A request made to reception for plates and cutlery was somewhat unwillingly obliged by some plates, bowls and forks (again no spoons or teaspoons). The wardrobe door can’t open from one side in one bedroom and the living room couch looks like it’s missing at least three cushions. To order room service involves a call to reception followed by a callback from the kitchen. Room service can’t be charged to the room and have to be paid in cash on delivery. The same applies to paid kids club activities that require cash or card payment. To be sure, there were some aspects of service that were good. The buggy service was generally reliable and prompt (except when my luggage was propelled from the buggy on our way to check out without so much as an apology) and courtesy phone calls from housekeeping and nightly housekeeping visits with cookies are thoughtful and have a nice touch comparable to high end resorts. The breakfast buffet, normally a highlight of any resort stay, was disappointing. While some local cuisine like pho did well, others like the banh mi station could be improved and would probably benefit from being staffed rather than having guests prepare their own rolls in a confined space. The main dishes failed to impress and the pastry section lacked that fresh crispiness you’d expect. More disappointing than the breakfast buffet was the day trip agent at the front of the main resort. We had a horrible snorkelling day trip with them and definitely recommend against using them. Overall, what makes a resort getaway special is a combination of excellent facilities and service. The Best Western Premier Sonasea Villas is a case in point that facilities alone do not make a memorable holiday and much much more work needs to be done to match service levels to achieve expectations of resorts of this style.
"Half a job" summarises this place perfectly. It's fine but too many minor stuff ups accumulate to take the shine off your stay. I cannot recommend Best Western Premier Sonasea Villas in Phu Quoc. - You pay a deposit for food and services at check in and then get hassled by waiters, bartenders and beachcraft staff every time you want to purchase something because the system doesn't show them you've paid a deposit. It's a challenge. Every. Single Time. - We tried to order morning tea from the Tropicana restaurant but were told a waiter would come to our seats at the pool beside reception. 30 minutes later he arrived with a blurry photo of the menu on his phone. We then waited 40 minutes for a 10" frozen pizza and 2 drinks. Nevermind the cost, which is expected at resorts, but the lack of care in the service is why this experience is to be avoided. - To be fair, the reception staff have been helpful with most things except for the two points above, but the two points above are examples of recurring, systemic issues with the greater service throughout the villas. Cannot recommend, sorry. This place needs attention from management who value customer service and making your vacation easy so you can focus on fun. The rooms are also becoming dated and need attention - not an overhaul but if they wait any longer, the overhaul will become essential.
It's our first time in Phu Quoc island and luckily we made the choice of choosing Sonasea Villas. We have a whole villa to ourselves and even though it's out first time here, we felt so safe walking around the resort and the area surrounding it. The location is so convenient as it's right next to the night market, staffs are very polite, kind and helpful and overall the resort is so clean and well kept. Breakfast buffet changes their menu everyday and the food was amazing I want to write a review to thank one of the staff member Trung Định, he dropped us off to our room and carried all of our luggages for us. Before he left he asked if we would like to take down his contact for any assistance. This was one of the reason why we had such a good time here in Phu Quoc because he gave us so many good and detailed recommendations on what to do on the island. Booked us a great restaurant and sort transportation to and from the restaurant. It was one of the best meal we've had on the island. We will definitely come back again.
