Soak up Cambodia’s rich culture during this temple-hopping trip from Phnom Penh. From the hotel, we take a drive and leave behind the hustle and bustle of the capital as we head to Tonle Bati (33 km). The area is home to Angkorian temples: 12th to 13th century Ta Prohm (not to be confused with Angkor’s Ta Prohm) and 12th century Yeay Peau. We then continue to Takeo and take the boat to explore 6th century Phnom Da temple before marveling at Ashram Maharosei, an Indian-style sandstone temple. We then return to Takeo to visit the ancient Chenla capital, Angkor Borei, where we learn about its history during a trip to the museum. On the way back to Phnom Penh, we stop at Phnom Chisor to soak up the spectacular hilltop views. Please note: From mid-February, water levels are low meaning we have to take a 5 km tuk-tuk ride to Phnom Da.
