This was my third Lost Plate tour and it will definitely not be the last. The food was delicious and my guide, Lee, was friendly and very knowledgeable about the cuisine which really added to the whole experience. I highly recommend this Lost Plate tour and Lee as your guide!

Itinerary
Perhaps one of the most storied capital cities in the world, Phnom Penh and risen and fallen multiple times since it was first established in the 5th century. The bustling city you see today, developing at warp speed and home to over 2 million people, was a very different place just decades ago – and locals still prefer their traditional way of life. Those traditions are still strong, and best seen exploring our vibrant local streets in the morning. We'll travel through the city by tuktuk and visit at least 6 stops where we'll meet the makers, watch our food prepared, and experience how the locals spend their morning. Visit our favorite neighborhoods in Phnom Penh, eat our favorite foods, try how we like our coffee, and walk away with a souvenir on us! This is your chance to kick of your day like a local, with a local!
Coffee & Noodles: Start your morning at a favorite local hang-out that’s been serving the neighborhood breakfast for over 15 years. Sip on a selection of local coffee served alongside a bowl of savory noodle soup.
Local Wet Market: Stroll through a bustling open-air wet market, try what’s in-season, and walk away with a handmade souvenir…on us! Along the way, meet Sister Mao who sources freshly grown herbs to create her own fresh curry paste.
Pork & Rice: Visit Brother Salin and his family-run shop that serves up a classic Khmer breakfast. We’ll grab a plastic chair and sit street-side for some freshly grilled pork & rice served with homemade pickles and a rich bowl of soup.
Savory Turmeric Crepes: These popular savory crepes are made with rice milk and turmeric, which give them their vibrant yellow color. Then they’re stuffed with ground pork, bean sprouts, and dried shrimp before we wrap them by hand with lettuce and local herbs. Don’t forget the homemade dipping sauce!
Award-Winning Coffee: Finish with a signature coffee recipe that won this hip cafe the National Barista Gold Medal in Cambodia! The tour will end at the cafe, which is within walking distance to the Russian Market. Your guide can suggest how to get to your next destination.

Lii took us on a fabulous tour to enjoy many Cambodian breakfast treats, wet market, several coffees! We had a chance to try our hand at buying fruit. Great experience. Highly recommend
Lii was organised and fun. We had a great time. He made us feel welcome, shared many local insights, and we loved the food. Well done.
This turned out to be way better than I thought it would be. Lii was our guide and he made it like an immersive cultural experience not just a food tour. I really loved the interaction with the people at the market and at each of the other stops where we ate and talked to the people running the shops. If you are looking to see Cambodian life and of course eat delicious food you should give this a try. Again I’m not a foodie or anything but I loved this and Lii was the best.
We absolutely loved this food tour with Lii! The food was all delicious and it was a fun and thoughtful exposure to Phnom Penh. The hospitality was great - Lii is friendly and speaks English very well. Would absolutely recommend to anyone going to Phnom Penh!
We absolutely loved this food tour with Lii. The food was amazing as was the hospitality. It was a fun and thoughtful exposure to Phnom Penh. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting PP.
Great food, very fun experience. Lii was amazing, shared with us knowledge about Phnom Penh and Cambodia too!
Lii was a fantastic, friendly, and easygoing guide. The tour was relaxed and provided a very local food experience.
Our guide Chea was great. He had a grasp of the local food culture and was able to invite us into that culture in an engaging way. The food and locations fit our group well. Chea was knowledgeable, personable and kind.
This was a fun 3 hour tour to learn and experience the food in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. We went to local spots and a local market with a guide who knows the people and area well. I am a picky eater and still really enjoyed the food and tour! Our tour guide, Chea, was excellent, informative and very friendly!
Had a really good time on this market tour in Phnom Penh. Everything was super well-organized and the schedule ran smoothly—we got to see a lot without feeling rushed around. Our guide Lii was great. He’s really nice, friendly, and knows a ton about the city and the local markets. Riding around in the tuktuk was a fun way to get around, and Lii made sure we were comfortable and had a good experience the whole time. Definitely worth doing if you're in Phnom Penh!
Great tour of local markets and restaurants, guide Chea was very friendly with great English. The tour was accommodative and gave a great sense of everyday life!
Fun, informative and filling!
Amazing experience. The atmosphere here is fun and exciting. Our guide Lee was very friendly and took us to see markets, and we tried lots of different foods including rice noodles, yellow pancakes and coffee. Definitely recommend this tour!
Lee was very friendly & knowledgeable. Food & drinks are delicious. Markets fascinating. Great experience
What a fun morning, Lee was a great guide, we saw the local markets and eat some weird and wonderful food! Thank you
Had a good food and a couple of market tour in Phnom Penh. Very informative and enjoyed it very much
My guide was excellent and informed and I LOVED the variety (and amount!) of food and drink we had. Cambodia truly has so much to offer and this is a great way to learn about history, culture, and food all at once.
Great way to sample local foods. My guide was lovely and very knowledgeable I had a very deliciouspok soup and the coffees were awesome too.. Well done Vy. 10/10
We had an incredible morning breakfast food tour with Lii! He was knowledge and a great guide who was fun and taught us about food, culture and the Khmer language. We had amazing noodle soup, donuts, milk fruit, pork with rice, yellow pancakes, and coffee with sugar cane juice. We walked through the fresh market and the Russian markets and had a great time. We highly recommend booking this tour with Lii as your guide!
My wife and I had an amazing tour with Lii! He took us to some great spots, we had amazing food and great conversations. I would highly recommend to anyone I know.
The guide was very nice and knows alot about the history of cambodia! We had a great time with him , we teasted a local and deliusios food
Our guide was sociable and enthusiastic, as well as knowledgeable. It was great to go where locals are. Mr Piccolo coffee was a highlight.
A combination of yummy local food plus background on the shops and the food. It was surprising to hear shops were often passed down through the generations. The guide showed and told us descriptions of the ingredients at the markets, only about half that we recognized from our own country. It was great comparing our home country foods/customs with Cambodian ones.
Very professionnal guided tour. Vy, our guide, was very competent and teach us a lot about Khmer culture, and communication was easy.
Dina was very knowledgeable and friendly and happy to share about his life and the various foods we saw and tried. We sampled food at 5 different foods places and walked around 2 markets. Was very authentic and I would highly recommend.
Wonderful food tour sampling typical Cambodian breakfast foods. Easy and convenient by tuktuk and combined with a little bit of walking. Vy was a wonderful guide. Very kind and knowledgeable! Highly recommend.
We have done quite a few food tours throughout our 7 months of exploring Southeast Asia, but this one set the bar quite high. The entire experience was much better than any other that we've done. Fist, we were picked up at our hotel by our guide and tuk tuk driver and given a gift (Lost Plate can coozie) which we used throughout our tour to drink the unlimited beers that they had in a cooler on the tuk tuk. There was also water available as well. Our guide, Vy, was very nice, spoke perfect English and was very knowledgeable of the foods and history behind everything we ate. We felt that the stops were very well thought out and the food was amazing. We even had a bonus surprise when I told her that I would eat anything. So we stopped at a stand and I tried a Balut, which is a fertilized developing egg embryo that is boiled or steamed and eaten from the shell. I tried it, but I will say, I will not be going out of my way to eat that again! But it was nice that she was listening and made a special stop for me to try something really exotic. At the end of the tour we stopped and got dessert and had a drink at a rooftop bar overlooking the Russian market, before our driver dropped us back at our hotel. Oh, and at the end, we were given another gift, a Lostplate canvas zipper pouch with stickers inside. Just a great experience all around. Highly recommend!
Our family (two adults & a 9yo) did the Morning Market and Food tour & it was brilliant. Our guide Vy was great, very easy to talk with and gave good explanations of all the foods we tried. The whole tour was very well organized, communication after booking was great. Overall we'd recommend this tour to anyone wanting a fun start to their day in Phnom Penh.
We booked the morning food tour, because not many food tours cover breakfast (unlike dinner). We loved the tour - not only did we experience different local breakfasts (all delicious), but we also learned about Cambodian food history and culture. Our guide Vy was amazing and we vibed from the beginning - it was so much fun! She has a good relationship with the owners of the food places we visited, which led to some entertaining banter and laughter. Communication from booking to attending the tour was easy and clear, which added to the seamless experience. We'd definitely try out other Lost Plate food tours in the future.
Great food tour, I highly recommend! We had some delicious food, learnt a lot about Cambodia as well as a great market trip. Our guide Veasna was fantastic. Great to meet other people on the tour too and get recommendations for restaurants.
Good way to enjoy local food & enjoyed walk through the local market. Stops included noodles soup, rice with pork & picked and caramelised egg, local coffee & condensed milk & some fried sweet treat. Particularly enjoyed walk through the local market. Good guide and very interesting to learn the way of life of locals. We did the morning tour so less options than afternoon/ evening. Still thoroughly enjoyable.
A really great and authentic morning with Vy. Highly recommended. Food was great and Vy was a gem. We certainly don’t need any lunch now!
We had a great tour! Our Guide Vy was super lovely and introduced us to all kinds of local foods and customs. If you want to try various Cambodian foods, I recommend this tour to you :)
I actually did the evening tuk-tuk food tour and got a great introduction to Cambodian food and it's history. Fair warning you will eat a lot of food so pace yourself and come on an empty stomach. That said it was great! Strongly recommend. I'm an adventurous eater do nothing puts me off. My guide and tuk-tuk driver were so friendly, accommodating, and hospitable. This is a great tour to do in lieu of dinner at 1 restaurant because you will get a taste of many different foods in different areas of the city. It's a progressive dinner with historical information carefully curated by a guide.
Enjoyed the tour very much! Our guide Vy was extremely friendly, conversant and accommodating. We were able to talk to her about a lot of other stuff about Cambodia other than the food/markets we visited. The stops we were brought to were all very local and delicious, and the market visits were also a really good chance to learn and try other things. Highly recommend!
The food tour was great! The food was varied and tasty. We had 6 stops in total, and waters/beers/cokes were constantly provided. Our guide, Vy Pichr, was very accommodating and great at communicating.
We were a group of 8 visiting Siem Reap for the first time. We had a great experience on our tour and our guide Chan was fantastic. Good communication, flexible with the schedule and taught us a lot during our day at Angkor Wat.
Had a very enjoyable food tour experience with our tour guide, Vy who introduced us to several classic Cambodian morning meals. Vy was knowledgeable about local food and brought to try tasty food at places we would've otherwise missed during this trip. We also enjoyed the visits to the markets and was able to ask our tour guide questions that we had. Overall, it was a fantastic experience with a lovely guide.
Fantastic food tour, some great stops and our guide Soaly really went the extra mile in making sure we got to try the wonderful foods and experience the true Cambodia Culture.
Soaly was an incredible tour guide - very informative and we never felt rushed! My dad and I both felt like we received an amazing insight into the soul of Phnom Penh.
This was one of the highlights from my trip to Cambodia. Soaly, our local tour guide, was so knowledgeable and patient with the group. This tour involves taking you to local mom and pop shops that you would have never had the opportunity to discover, all the while tasting key, representative dishes of their local cuisine. Definitely recommend.
I had a wonderful time at the evening food tour with Seavyi. I highly recommend it! The food was amazing and diverse. Thank you !
I booked a morning tour and had Soaly as a guide! He is so friendly, knowledgeable and funny! Such a great experience! We tried different foods, fruits, drinks, by the end of it we were so full from both food but also experiences. We also really enjoyed the market stroll, it is a great way to get insights of the local life. Truly recommend you book this tour and hopefully you can also get Soaly as a guide and have this great experience like us!
We did the breakfast tour on a Saturday morning, and we were delayed about 20 minutes due to some issue with another party in the group; the tuktuk arrived about 10 minutes after the tour was due to start. The tour was a bit disappointing; the explanations from the guide were a bit lacking, seemingly party due to a lack of command of English and a lacking of general outgoing-ness that the best food-tour guides that we have had in other countries. The pacing overall was a bit off; there was a time after one location where we seemingly waited for 5 minutes for no apparent reason. The food/locations we visited themselves were fine; we particularly enjoyed the wet market and seeing the local people shopping. Aside from the logistical hiccups, I think our experience would have been more enjoyable with a guide with a stronger appreciation for food and better equipped for an English-speaking group.
My girlfriend and I had a great morning with Vypichr and Sivhong! We went to a lovely little place that served coffee and a delicious morning noodle soup. Afterwards, they showed us around a morning market and how all the local street vendors and restaurants got their produce. Then we went to two more lovely small restaurants and ate like locals. We ended the tour at the cutest little coffee shop that served the greatest coffee! The best thing about all these places is that we did not see one other tourist - we totally felt like we were dining with the locals. And the guides were just great, their English was excellent and they knew a lot.
Soaly, an enthusiastic host, offers a delightful glimpse into traditional Cambodian eating and socialising customs. His warm hospitality exemplifies the essence of Cambodian culture, where food and community are deeply intertwined with lots of cultural learnings.
Soaly’s expertise and enthusiasm for Cambodian cuisine shone through in this delightful culinary experience. His friendly demeanor created a welcoming atmosphere, making it easy for guests to engage and learn about the rich tapestry of Cambodian food culture.
Loved my past food tours so I did one in Phnom Penh, morning specifically since I wanted that experience - morning markets, typical breakfasts; the hustle and bustle. And we got it! Soaly, our guide, was just delightful. His English was great, the descriptions and introduction to what we were about to eat was not only informative but very much appreciated. Our group wasn't large so it was easy to navigate the small market aisles or the busy streets when we stopped. Soaly went above and beyond. We saw a street vender selling something none of us had tried and he immediately asked If we wanted to sample and got us some to try. I would recommend this tour to anyone wanting to sample local eats.
Fantastic morning tour with our guide Soaly. All the food was amazing and plenty of variety. Wish we’d done this earlier in our trip so we could have revisited some of the food stops!
