This was our second tour in Cambodia with Lost Plate, and it was just as great as the first! We loved exploring Phnom Penh and trying so many new dishes at local restaurants – everything was delicious. It was also fantastic getting to know Chea and hearing more about Cambodia and Phnom Penh from him. He was a brilliant tour guide, really friendly and knowledgeable, and we had such a good laugh with him along the way. We had a great time and would highly recommend this tour!

Itinerary
Taste a time where Cambodian kings rode armored elephants into battle, where the Tonle Sap lake was only known by legend as the “Land of Gold” to far-off Indian empires, and Spanish invaders on the Mekong brought the Khmer cities of Chatamouk and Longvek to its knees through cannon fire. Dishes that were created and defined through pivotal moments of history persist through the centuries despite the efforts of the Khmer Rouge to isolate and eliminate local food culture. Come and see what they tried to destroy and couldn’t, and taste the act of rebellion by local chefs who dared to remember and rediscover these recipes in a post-civil war era.
Khmer Curry Noodles: Try humble 5th century noodles that predate the Angkorian Empire alongside local patrons at simple tables and chairs, as they have for centuries. This is Cambodian comfort food that is popular for breakfast through dinner.
Stews & Stir-fries: Try three (or more) low-and-slow stews and stir-fries at Phnom Penh’s busiest roadside eatery. These are ancestral dishes born deep within countryside homes, now served by a family on the streets of the capitol city.
Slow-roasted Ribs: Located across the street from the museum, meet Auntie Song’s family, who’s pork short ribs once made a guest claim they “made me believe in Santa again.” Served alongside a special dish brought daily from Battambang province that features seasoned fish cakes grilled in banana leaves.
Fish Amok, Local Curry, and More: Sample golden-age ingredients and dishes at a trendy and lush setting hidden from the bustle of the city. These are the best versions of Cambodia’s go-to dishes.

We did a Lost Plates food tour in Siem Reap and we enjoyed it so much that we wanted to do another in Phnom Penh. The tour was absolutely amazing, we went to a number of different places and tried lots of great local foods in restaurants tourists wouldn’t usually go to. Our guide, Chea was absolutely amazing. He was so charismatic, funny and a great person to spend time with whilst going round a busy city. We got on so well and he was a big reason why the experience was so special. Chea is such an interesting person and works so hard to make sure you’re having the best time. There is lots of food so arrive hungry. I highly recommend doing food tours with Lost Plates
Without a doubt, this was one of the highlights of my trip to Cambodia. If you're visiting Phnom Penh and want an authentic experience, book this tour! You won't regret it! Our guide, Bong Chea, was amazing. He was funny, energetic, and made everyone feel comfortable from the very beginning. His passion for Cambodian food and culture really showed throughout the entire evening. He didn't just take us to incredible local restaurants he explained the history behind the dishes, shared stories about everyday life in Cambodia, and even taught us some Khmer along the way. Thanks to him, I left knowing a few useful phrases and with a much deeper appreciation for the local culture. The food was outstanding. Every stop was a hidden gem that I never would have found on my own. Riding through Phnom Penh by tuk-tuk at night added to the adventure, and every restaurant served delicious, authentic Khmer food. The portions were generous, and by the end of the tour I was completely full and smiling. What made this experience truly special was Bong Chea. His sense of humor kept everyone laughing, his knowledge made every stop interesting, and his genuine kindness made the tour feel like we were exploring the city with a friend instead of just following a guide. Thank you, Bong Chea, for an unforgettable evening and for sharing your beautiful culture with us. This wasn't just an amazing food tour it was one of the best travel experiences I've ever had. I highly recommend Lost Plate Phnom Penh Food Tours to anyone visiting Cambodia. Five stars isn't enough!
Our guide, Chea, could not have done enough for us. We ate, we laughed, we drank. We ate at both restaurants and street food- all incredible, packed with stories, history and flavour. We only had one day in Phnom Penh but this was the best possible way we could have spent our time, and finished in the cool of the evening with a walk through the Russian market and a cocktail at a rooftop bar. 10/10 recommend!!!
Fantastic night visiting some incredible places. Food I have never even heard of? It loved. It was explained with expert knowledge in a very friendly and approachable way but our guide who was absolutely great. Would definitely recommend.
My group of four booked this experience to try out Cambodian food from around Phnom Penh. We are Cambodian and familiar with Khmer cuisine but didn’t want to chance eating something that could make us sick so we left it in the hands of our wonderful tour guide. The tour is well organized starting with the coordination of the tuk tuk pick up, all the way to the specific restaurants and menus. Our guide was Chea who is warm, welcoming and enthusiastic about sharing his knowledge of the city, the food and Cambodian culture. We went to 6 different locations that started with nom banh chok all the way to dessert of nom pler eye and ended the night with cocktails on a rooftop bar. Needless to say we were stuffed and a little tipsy 😂 the drivers were quiet but they were accommodating, if you needed a water or an extra beer, you weren’t left needed one for long. A couple feedback items, expanding hotel pick up locations, a food rating card are nice to have. The team is always in communication with you and Chea took great pictures and shared them promptly with us. It’s a wonderfully delicious tour!
I love Lost Plate tours! I've done them in 3 countries in probably 9 different locations. I can't recommend this business enough. Phnohm Phen was no exception! Chea was knowledgeable, friendly and ensured that the group had what they needed. He shared stories from his childhood and the different regional foods as well as some history of culinary changes. It was a wonder evening of flavors and new friends.
A really great fun evening. Chea and Mean were excellent guides, knowledge on the food and great fun too. Both had excellent English. All the stops were different and we enjoyed about hearing the history and traditions about the dishes. We got to try things that we wouldn't have been able to order on our own. Highly recommend this tour and the guides.
Our tour in Phnom Penh with with Chea was fantastic! Chea is such a friendly and welcoming guy. He showed us a great variety of foods from very traditional street food to some more modern cuisine. We really appreciated the variety and everything tasted so good! It was the perfect introduction to Cambodian food. Would 100% recommend!
We had an absolutely wonderful time with Chea! We have done Lost Plate tours in the past and they never cease to disappoint. You should definitely come hungry! We had a wonderful variety of food showing the culture of Cambodia and was a great introduction. Thank you so much!
Amazing food experience with our guide Chea. Food was great, he was really cool and relaxed, speak amazing english. Took us to some nice places, there was just too much food. And we also got small gift in the end.
Chea, the guide, was phenomenal. Great way to get a custom tour of Phnom Penh with all the food and drink you care to enjoy. The cool refreshing towels between stops were a dream. Loved wrapping up the tour on a rooftop terrace bar overlooking the Russian Market with a chilled cocktail. Great experience, amazingly fresh and tasty cuisine, and the stories and cultural nuances as explsined by Chea made it all the worthwhile. Thank you
Chea was an amazing guide for our first visit to Cambodia. We loved sharing food and stories with him. We learned alot about the local food as well as hear about Chea’s perspectives on the food and what he grew up eating and enjoying. I felt we got a real taste of authentic khmer cuisine. He truly MADE the tour!!! Kathy
We loved our time with Chea- sooo much food, many laughs, and we learned so much about the history of food in Cambodia and it made the experience that much more meaningful. Felt like we were meeting an old friend for dinner in Phnom Penh :) food was great and authentic but seemed to be prepared safely for tourists.
Chea was amazing!! He took us to some great local spots that had different eras of food. A genuine and fun person. He will make you laugh. Knowledgeable about the history Cambodia. Speaks great English
Chea was a great tour guide, the food was fantastic. Would recommend to friends.
After visiting Phnom Penh regularly for the last four years, we thought we had seen it all - until we met Chea. This food tour was easily one of the coolest and most memorable experiences we've had in Phnom Penh. Chea introduced us to the REAL hidden gems one could not find on google and incredible local flavors that we never would have discovered on our own. Every stop offered something delicious and deeply rooted in local culture and Khmer cuisine history. Chea is knowledgeable, gentle, and clearly passionate about food and connecting with people. Thank you!
We had an absolutely brilliant food tour with Lost Plate in Phnom Penh. Our guide, Vy, gave us a lot of information about Cambodian food culture. She explained all of the dishes, how they were prepared, cooked and the correct way to eat them. She was charming and polite, and her English is excellent. We can highly recommend this food tour if you are staying in Phnom Penh.
Great introduction to Phnom Penh city and allowed us to get well oriented. The restaurants were all excellent ( especially Eleven One) and we'll certainly go back to some during our stay. Our guide Chea was excellent, full of enthusiasm and gave us a great insight into Cambodian life in general. Highly recommended!
We've done lots of food tours over the years and this is one of the best. Our guide Chea was excellent, giving us the background to all the dishes. The stops were mainly in restaurants, and not street food ( except for the excellent pork ribs) and all warrant a return visit. Chea gave us a locals insight into life in Phnom Penh and Cambodia's modern history. All in all a great evening discovering Phnom Pehn and its food scene. Highly recommended.
Great to with Chea. Excellent food, very knowledgeable about local history and the PP urban area. Kind to my kid.
Incredible cultural and food experience - please please please do yourself a favor and sign up for this tour. We learned more in a single evening about the food and culture of Cambodia then we could have in a whole week (maybe even a whole month). The highlight was absolutely our guide, Chea. Not only did he speak very good English, but he had an infectious, friendly and energetic personality. He explained everything in detail and shared so much about Cambodia. The spots he took us too were local, authentic, delicious, and clean. We went to 3 local dinner spots, tried an INCREDIBLE street food BBQ spot, a street food dessert spot, and ending with a lovely rooftop bar. 100% recommend
Had an amazing tour with Chea! All the food we had was delicious and it was so nice to be driven around to visit local restaurants that I would have never visited alone and trying dishes I would not have ordered. It was also a good mix of some walking and sightseeing as well, not only eating. Lastly, I learned so much about modern Cambodian life and culture from hearing about Chea’s experiences and stories. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Phnom Penh!
Very great expérience Lee was a wonderful soul ! Funny and nice person with a lot of imagination. He knows a lot of things about dishes, food préparation, culture in cambodia. We re very happy Food was really really great
This food tour was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. We had the best guide, Chea, who made the tour that much better. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely passionate, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. The food was incredibly delicious at every stop, with authentic flavors that really showcased the local cuisine. It felt well thought out and never rushed. I left full, happy, and with a much deeper appreciation for the food scene. Highly recommend!
This food tour absolutely amazing. The tour guide, Chea was an absolute gem. He was so much fun and chose the best dishes to sample to get a good representation of Cambodian food. I understand why Lost Plate tours are so highly rated. I would absolutely recommend giving it a go. And ask for Chea. He was great!
A wide variety of great food and restaurants. Chea was a fabulous guide. I’d done 2 other Lost Plate tours in Bangkok and Hanoi - this one was as good as, if not better than, the others. Lost Plate is a unique food tour company, I highly recommend them!
This is my fourth Lost Plate food tour and it didn’t disappoint. As usual it was beautifully planned and we truly got an authentic Cambodian cultural cuisine experience. Our lovely food tour guide, Chea made our experience even more memorable! His exceptional hospitality, knowledge and genuine kindness absolutely made us felt so warm and happy to experience this tour with him. As always we definitely recommend lost plate and we also recommend doing this tour with Chea! I must also mention our driver whose name I can’t remember was extremely safe and professional!
This is our 4th time doing Lost Plate Food tours. Our guide was Chea- he was absolutely amazing. One of the best guides we've ever met. He went above and beyond to give us a top notch culinary experience. The food was delicious and we had such a loval, authentic experience. Thank you Chea for this lovely evening
This was an excellent tour led by an engaging and well informed host. The selection of dishes and locations was broad and well balanced.
Enjoyed the experience, good choice of food with an excellent guide.
We had this brilliant tour this evening with our great guide Lee. He was very knowledgeable about each place we stopped and about the traditional food. We finished the tour at the rooftop Sundown bar with a traditional cocktail. We would definitely recommend this as a must do thing to do in Phnom Penh.
We had a wonderful evening exploring the city. Our guide Veasna was very knowledgeable about the origin of the traditional food and history of Cambodia. Such a great experience, thank you.
Fun and informative tour led by Veasna! A great variety of Khmer street food was sampled, including some sweet treats. Finished the night enjoying a cocktail at a bar overlooking the Russian Markets.
My family and I went on the evening Tuk Tuk food tour around Cambodia for Christmas Eve and had a fantastic time ! Veasna created a fantastic theme around the night where each dishes' history was explained as a story and its recipe described with compassion . We left the food tour full (and thats saying something for 3 grown men) and happy to have tried stalls and restaurants we never would have found ourselves. Special shoutout to Veasna for going above and beyond to tailour the night based on our food requests.
Veasna was a great guide - super knowledgeable about Cambodian food, culture and history. Loved talking to him about his country. The food - especially the Khmer noodles - was a good mix of street food, family-run local eateries and more upmarket restaurants.
Really delicious food, fun experience on the tuk tuk and knowledgable and friendly local guide. Just the right amount of food
Great experience with Lii sampling bits of Phnom Penh off the beaten track. He was very knowledgeable on all places and food we had. Highly recommended to sample a bit of the city
We had an amazing evening with Lii travelling through the underground and side streets of Phnom Penh. A great view into the food and culture of Phnom Penh.
We booked the street food tour easily online. Communication was great and we were picked up at our hotel by Vy. Free drink was provided and we were quickly dropped at our first stop. Tasty big portion of noodles here. Then off to a few further stop where we had plenty of food , come hungry ! Ended up in a hidden rooftop bar in the Russian Market. Lovely time and Vy was explaining every food and recipes etc . Book you will not regret it.
I haven’t been on this tour (but will when I visit Cambodia) but bought it for a birthday present for my son. He said he ate some of the most delicious food he has ever eaten and learnt so much about Cambodia from their wonderful guide Veasnu. He even organised a birthday cake! Best birthday ever!
Amazing tour. Guide was incredible and very knowledgeable. Learnt so much. Highly recommend! Food was also incredibly authentic and delicious.
Really fantastic night to try local food in Phnom Penh! I especially loved our guide Lii, he shared great stories and info about each stop. Delicious and full of history! Highly recommend if you visit Phnom Penh.
Fantastic tour. All the food we ate tasted great and the tour guide was very knowledgeable in not only the history of Khmer cuisine, but also the history of Cambodia
Amazing introduction to traditional Khmer food. Our guide Lee brought us to local spots that we would not have visited. All the dishes was so good. He also explained how they would prepare the food as well as how locals would eat it. Great tour!
Mr. Lee, our guide for this tour has been a great guide. We were taken to the nicest food places in Phnom Penh. Looove the local food and dessert! Definitely recommend this tour!
We had Lii as our food guide, and he was amazing, he brought us to all these hole-in-the-wall eateries which we would never had gone if we were on our own. We had a great time and he made sure we were very full with food and beers. Highly recommended.
Our guide Lii was wonderful. All the food was amazing. Tasting the local cuisine & learning about it. Travelling via tuk tuk us the best way to see the city.
Great tour. 100%recommend. Great food and professional guide. Thank you so much. Save and easy. You need to experience Phnom Penh
We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening with our Guide, Lee, who went out of his way to make sure we were having a good time. we went to places which we would not have experienced on our own, and all the food was delicious – apart from the desserts which were not for European tastes! Our only critical observation is that it is a very expensive evening in relation to the actual cost of the food. We wanted to know that both The tuk tuk drivers and the Guide were being correctly paid – but couldn't be sure.
