We did two day tours with About Cambodia. One was to Oudong mountain and nearby sites, along with the national museum. The other was of sites within Phnom Penh. Mr Sophy was our guide and he was excellent. Very knowledgeable and a good communicator. The drivers and vehicles were first rate. I would gladly use About Cambodia’s services again, especially recommend Mr. Sophy.

Oudong was the royal capital between 1618 and 1866 before the capital was moved to Phnom Penh, several temples and stupas cover three hills. These huge stupas can be seen from miles away and contain the remains of several Khmer kings including King Monivong (1927-1941) and King Ang Duong (1845-1859). The walk up the hill over 500 steps provides an excellent exercise especially the view countryside view. These hills were also the site of some of the Khmer Rouge’s most prolonged resistance against the Vietnamese army in 1979 and a memorial to those murdered by the Khmer Rouge was built on this place.
Phnom Preah Reach Troap, is a sacred mountain that features relics from settlements in ancient times
The Royal Tombs of Oudong are home to over 200 years worth of remains of rulers of Cambodia. The tombs are situated on a hill known as Phnom Oudong and there are several stupas dotted along the east-west ridge to be explored and admired.
The Preah Sakyamoni Chedi is very picturesque and rewards the patient photographer. it is one of the best and most intact chedi structures in the Udong
The primary purpose of the centre is to teach Vipassana meditation techniques, but the complex is open to the public and you are welcome to wander the gardens
Sontte Wan Buddhist Meditation Center is largest Buddhist center in Cambodia and it is very beautiful decoration that you must visit
Sontte Wan Buddhist Meditation Center is largest Buddhist center in Cambodia and it is very beautiful decoration that you must visit
Koh Chen is an island located in the Tonle Sap Lake. It is easy to reach from Oudong and Phnom Penh. Visit Koh Chen island and a village known for its silver crafts. Then, enjoy a ride to the Oudong mountains and discover an abundance of Buddha
Kampong Luong Pagoda is a Place Of Worship and secretary of the museum, who was in charge of the mission, had great difficulty convincing the chief of the pagoda
Phnom Baset to see a pre-Angkorian temple from the 8th century and a reclining Buddha. The view from the temples on the surroundings plains and rice-fields is beautiful
Wat Sowann Thamareach, rarely visited, but absolutely worth an hour to see a very different architectural monument. Very interesting architecture in new Buddhist temple complex. This is not your traditional wat with yellow roof bordered in green.

An excellent day away from the crowds of Phnom Penh. Beautiful temples and ruins. Felt very safe in n the hands of our driver, Ned. Our guide Silong (sorry if spelling is way off) was very attentive to our comforts, particularly during the 509 step climb, and very knowledgeable about Cambodian history, market foods (definitely try the frogs!) and customs. Great tour!
It was a great day out and our guide, Tokk, was very knowledgeable and quite helpful. I highly recommend The Cafe where they took us for lunch was nice with good food.
We had an excellent guide, Mr. Tokk, and a very good driver. Lots of interesting information including background issues. We had a great day and can highly recommend the tour.
Our tourguide speaks very good English and he is very fluent. It is easy and interesting to listing to him. He was very kind with us always asking if we were good or not. The driver was perfect too and the lunch break was very pleasant. The restaurant was very beautiful and the meals was delicious. The length of the visit were good too.
great value with experienced guide tokk who explained the history of each site. we covered many sites beyond the main oudong and phnom baset. also great lunch at a local non touristy restaurant with a chic vibe. the driver was professional too l always picked us up on time. overall highly recommended. arkun
Tokk was incredible! He personalized our tour completely and gave in-depth explanations. He had a great deal of knowledge, which he shared expertly. Highly recommended
Silong and Nora were a great combo for us. They were really funny, informative and well versed in the history of Cambodia. We had a great tour and excursion throughout the day and were able to experience this without many tourists so it felt like we had the whole day for us. Overall 10/10
Mr. Tokk was a phenomenal tour guide! We really enjoyed visiting the temples. They were beautiful. Mr. Tokk is very knowledgeable about all periods in Cambodian history and we left the tour with a deep understanding of Cambodian history and culture. 10/10!!
A private tour, with a guide. The guide is no nosense person with wealth of knowledge and explained everything in detail. Be repaired for 500+ steps climb to the top. That's a start, and if you opted for the entire journey you will be climbing more steps. :) The view from the top is amazing and the temple itself is worth the visit. The food stalls are full of Cambodian delicacies, but I did not try any as I was not feeling well. The guide took me also to Vipasana Meditation temple. Spread over vast area and much to see too.
Excellent trip. Our guide Mr Tok is very knowledgeable and caring person. His communication in English is also very good
A wonderful tour with kind explanations and flexible service. I recommend this tour to everyone, especially Japanese speakers, because the English was easy to understand.
We took a private tour to Oudong Mt. Mr. Ching & Mr. Tuk were very knowledgeable and attentive. They provided cold drinks and cold towels along the way which really help because it was so hot.
Amazing view from the top. You can see the nature up there. there are basically a religious pagoda uphill, so recommend to wear appropriate clothes and comfortable clothing and shoes for better walking
Thank you so much to our guide and driver, Seelong and Udom! Our family had a great day visiting the many sites with you and were grateful you could answer so many of our questions ranging from ancient history, religion, and modern politics. The Khmer lunch was very tasty and the guides were helpful in finding us American preferred style of toilets.
Our guide, Silong, was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. We learned so much about the culture and history of Cambodia. I bought some gorgeous silver jewelry and learned how the artisans make them as well as what to look for in quality. I also got a great workout climbing the steps up the mountain. Fantastic experience!
Oudong is not far from Phnom Penh but definitely worth a visit, maybe not in the dry season as it got really, really hot! Our English-speaking guide, Tokk, made us comfortable and was well-spoken. His appreciation of Buddhism meant that we were more informed at the various pagodas and stupas. Tokk was attentive to our needs and adjusted the programme to suit our physical strength under the Cambodia heat and humidity. Highly-recommended!
Very informative leader on our private tour. Was nice to get out the city and explore the countryside around Phnom Pen and we did not feel rushed at all.
I had the absolute pleasure of joining a guided tour of Oudong Mountain and the Cambodian Royal Palace, and it was nothing short of exceptional. From start to finish, the experience was deeply enriching, beautifully organized, and filled with cultural insight thanks to Master Tour Guide Mr. Sam Ang-Eng. Oudong Mountain was a breathtaking start to the journey. The panoramic views from the ancient stupas were awe-inspiring, and the peaceful atmosphere made it easy to connect with Cambodia’s spiritual heritage. Tour Guide Sam shared fascinating stories about the site’s history as the former royal capital and its religious significance, pointing out sacred relics and explaining local customs with warmth and clarity. Later, at the Royal Palace in Phnom Penh, the grandeur of Cambodian architecture came to life. The Silver Pagoda, with its intricate mosaic floor and sacred Buddha statues, was a true highlight. Sam was incredibly knowledgeable, offering historical context, symbolism behind the architecture, and anecdotes that made each part of the palace complex feel alive with meaning. I could not have hoped for a more enriching experience! What really made this tour stand out was our guide’s deep respect for Cambodian culture, paired with excellent communication and an approachable style. Sam was especially patient, enthusiastic, and truly passionate about sharing his country’s heritage. Whether you’re a history buff, a spiritual seeker, or simply curious about Cambodia’s past, this tour is a must-do. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Phnom Penh — a perfect blend of history, spirituality, and stunning scenery.
Our guide and driver were friendly, attentive and welcoming. The tour was well paced with the right amount of information. The guide was very knowledgeable and both made sure that we were comfortable all day, providing water and having the car ready very quickly with no waiting. A great day out that gave us the opportunity to explore beyond Phnom Penh, and a trip we’d recommend.
Great guide and driver. The tour online description gave the impression of a lot of stops. The driver added a couple to make it better experienced. Nice spots but way overpriced compared to other tours in cambodia
Our guide totu was awesome. He did a great job and took us to some amazing spots. The driver was safe and curious. The actual itinerary was terrible. Many of the stops are combined so it is not as many stops as advertised but the driver ensured we saw everything plus a couple of surprises.
The guide is perfect and very profesionnal. He is avoid to adapt to your contraints. He also speak a littel bit French. To weel understand the cambodgian culture, it's perfect !
Makara was so knowledgeable, patient and kind. Learned a lot from him, not only about the places that I visited but about the history and the culture of the country, and a lot more. Oudong and surrounding areas have lots of places to visit and explore. Definitely recommended if you want to get out of Phnom Penh for a day.
Super day trip close by Phnom Penh and only 1 hour drive away. Lots of things to see, all sorts of temples and street markets. Sean is super knowledgeable and energetic from start to finish!
Fantastic adventure outside of the city to explore the non-touristy spots. We had a full itinerary and enjoyed the entire tour
This was an active and interesting tour, and we saw some really neat sights. It was a little tiring but it was a hot day and we done a lot of steep stairs. Really enjoyed seeing so much of the countryside in between temples and mountains.
This was the best tour we had outside of PP. The tour guide and driver were fantastic, took great care of us and were very knowledgeable. As it was just my sister and I, the guide was able to answer a lot of questions, and helped us meet one of the nuns, who was so sweet and excited to meet us as we her. The guide also helped me try the sugar cane drink and gave us a fun tour of the local market and its local specialties. Oudon was simply amazing to explore and something not to be missed. Phnom Baset was also amazing as the construction is new and ongoing and shows great examples of what Ankor Wat's construction would have been like when new. Overall everything went smoothly and we had such a great time. I would highly recommend.
The tour was just not good and unfortunately not worth the money. We saw some beautiful places but the guide had no knowledge about it. Totally not recommending booking this tour
Very interesting and varied tour of Oudong Mountain and Phanom Baset, our guide Tokk was very informative and attentive throughout the tour as he guided us through the amazing sites that are local capital, highly recommended
Really would recommend this tour to anyone wanting to dig a little deeper into Cambodia. Having done the more obvious Killing Fields tour and seen some of the other sites of Phnom Penh, this was a great opportunity to get out and see the former capital and a little more of Cambodian life. As well as observing the towns and villages between locations, you’re also visiting sites that’s are important to and visited by local people, these are not overt tourist attractions so the experience feels very authentic. The driver was excellent, the guide just brilliant. To some extent you will always get out what you put in so ask questions. I learned a huge amount about Cambodia, its people, history and religion. Frankly, one of the best tour guides I’ve had on any tour (and there have been many). There is a market, it’s something else with the smells and sights of cooking. You do not have to eat a tarantula. You can. I didn’t.
The tour guide Mr Tokk and driver were both very friendly and we could not fault them. The driver picked us up and dropped back to our hotel safely. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions about Cambodia, its history and culture. We Visited a silversmith house, and learnt how they made these beautiful pieces, enjoyed this. We visited the places as advertised in the tour, but a lot of the temples and areas were damaged and it didn’t feel like the areas were maintained at all. Some temples weren't that old and were unfinished. Was a bit disappointed of this tour, especially with the price of this tour.
Great sites, friendly driver and tour director who was very knowledgeable! Great car with AC, kept cool Water for us, kept us safe and the tour was a fabulous full day!!! Loved every minute and highly recommend!
Sophy was very informative in all areas, very caring and a delight to be with. He was able to answer all our questions. His driver Rotha was a excellent smooth driver and very helpful also. All day we were offered lovely icy cold water and cleaning cloths. Thankyou so much for a wonderful day ☺️
Really really enjoyed this trip. A lovely guide - very informative and funny. Felt safe and loced the visit to the novice monk monastery . Highly recommend !
Detail oriented tour the tour guide Mr Tokk was very knowledgeable and pleasant answering all our questions and allowing us to enjoy the tour
If you have a spare day in your trip to PP and would like to see the calm & chill outskirts, take this day tour. It’s fantastic to see history and local life, led by a wonderful guide and driver. Transport is smooth and comfortable, taking you from your hotel to the assigned destinations. A side trip to a silversmith house at the start, but not mandatory to buy, just appreciate the local industry.
Our Guide, Tokk was excellent at explaining the cultural and religious customs, telling us about the cambodian history. He and our Driver took also efforts to find us a place where we could have some vegetarian lunch. I would give them 10 out of 10! I have rated the tour pretty low because of the price and the locations included in it. We paid $180 (for 2 people) for the tour, thinking that, since so many things included, it worths it. Unfortunately not! :( The places we visited all free of entry fees and seem to be possible to reach with a taxi.
We had an amazing tour with Tokk. He was very friendly and very knowledgeable about Cambodia. He answered all our questions very well, even if they had nothing to do with the actual tour. I definitely recommend doing this tour when you are in Phnom Penh.
The trip was amazing. We have received a lot of interesting information, fully enjoyed our time, made a lot of incredible photos. Trully appreciate the approach of our guide and our driver as well.
Our Tour Guide Tokk was very Knowledgeable and lots of Experience about the history of combodia.. I will highly recommend to my friends and Family .. One of the best Tour Guide... We are so happy, that we have him as a tour guide...
The tour guide and the driver were exceptional. The guide had such a great background knowledge of the area and of the area's history that he complimented the physical presence of the structures we were observing. He managed to get me (a 74 year old male) up all the steps to see all the sights, then for me the highlight, a 7th century Hindu temple. The driver was extremely safe, and I felt assured that he would be able to handle any potential transportation problem.
Tok and his driver did a great job. He was very knowledgeable and easy to understand. We toured many amazing pagodas and learned about Buddhism.
Sean is an exceptional tour guide who made our visit to Udong Mountain and Phnom Baset a truly memorable experience. His deep knowledge of the area and its history, combined with his friendly and engaging personality, greatly enriched our tour. Sean's passion for his work is evident and contagious, making every moment enjoyable. I highly recommend Sean for anyone looking for a comprehensive and enjoyable tour of Udong Mountain and Phnom Baset.
Very good, helpful and informative tour guide and a very good, helpful and careful driver. Great tour places, learn much of Cambodia culture. Learn much about the sad period of Khmer Rouge time, the suffering of human being and the extreme abuse of human rights by political leaders.
We visited many places in this trip with a very good guide and a professional driver. The places are interesting and worth visiting. A memorable experience.
Awesome private tour with Tokk. Tokk was very knowledgeable and friendly. I felt like a part of the family. Our driver Dina was also really great. I highly recommend this company for your Cambodia tours.
Good experience to know and explored the old capital city of Cambodia and to understand their Buddhism cultural, our tour guide Tokk is very professional and friendly explaining + introducing a lot to us, driver Mr Ley (not sure if I spell his name correct 🤭) is good and friendly giving us a safe comfortable ride all the way. Even though is a bit tired after a long day but we do enjoy the trip.
Our guide was knowledgeable and taught us the history of Cambodia, while showing us various highlights of the city. Unfortunately the palace was closed since the King is staying there, but they instead treated us to a sunset river cruise. Great experience overall.
Very informative, excellent guide and excellent driver. Great! Picked up on time, individual support.
