We leave Perth heading East to the Darling Range, also known as the Perth hills, through charming townships, national parks and farmland on our way to the historic Town of York, first inland settlement of Western Australia. In York we have a break enjoying a relaxing stroll along the picturesque Avon Terrace, displaying great examples of Victorian and Federation architecture, visit the majestic York Town Hall and Theatre, and the suspended bridge over Avon River.
We continue driving through the wheatbelt region, characterised by its sleepy towns and vast colourful farmland. Brief stop at the unique Corrigin Dog Cemetery and at the inspiring Statues Lake in Kondinin
A surreal landscape of native trees and salty lake displaying amazing colours. Note that during the dry season the lake may be completely dry but still offers amazing opportunity for good photos.
Wave Rock is a prehistoric rock formation shaped as a giant breaking ocean wave. Stop for photos and for a walk around Wave Rock.
Hippo's Yawn is a small cave by Wave Rock in which the entrance of the cave resemblances a hippopotamus yawning. Brief stop for photos.
Wonderful experience staying at Hyden Hotel/Motel at Wave Rock. A long drive through wheat belt region but well worth the trip to visit Wave Rock. Other experiences such as lace collection, vintage cars, miniature soldiers and wild life were a surprise bonus to this experience. Dinner at hotel was amazing. Sergio picked us up promptly at our hotel lobby 8AM. The stunning landscapes, stopovers, medical and travel stories made the long drive enjoyable. Very thoughtful, Sergio had bottled water in a cooler in his immaculate, spacious van & plenty lollies! We brought those lollies home & everybody loved them. We had fun reviewing the cafes to/from Wave Rock too ... hahaha! The Wave Rock is a must-see, one of a kind. Even w/ a bum right knee I was able to walk up the steel stairs up to the 1st level of this rock formation. Every stop in this itinerary is carefully planned to make most of a 12 hour tour & still chill. We arrived Perth City safely around 930PM & were dropped- off at Italian St. Kitchen for our late dinner, a short walk from our hotel. Expert & safe driving all the way. Although it was a long day, everything went as scheduled. Sergio was very nice and kind, and driving safely. Wave Rock was sort of what we imagined, but when we climbed up the rock, we enjoyed even more impressive view from the huge rock.
We enjoy immensely the spectacular scene of the wave rock which is a unique geological feature not found elsewhere in the globe. He possessed in-depth knowledge of the localities and communities which are sparsely populated as our tiny city of Hong Kong with 1100 km2 area is crowded with 7 million people. We are awakened our basic duty to love the nature. What a good wake up call. The natural wonder gave us don't memories in the future. We highly appreciate Sergio's extremely attentive and caring service for us elderly couple. He cleans the windscreen and side windows during the breaks to facilitate us to take clearer pictures .
This is a long drive but worth it. A fantastic sight and Sergio made the tour so much more interesting with his knowledge.
We had the most wonderful time on this tour because Sergio made it so special. He was polite & courteous, as well as very knowledgeable. He was understanding & accommodated my daughter’s needs who has autism. We were able to have lots of conversations regarding many topics.. The tour was catered to our personal needs. We would highly recommend booking a private tour with him.
