Sand boarding, star gazing, BBQ. Be prepared for a long drive there and back. Chilly and windy. Looked at Saturn through a telescope.

Itinerary
Stop at the Bakery for a toilet stop and food if you are hungry. Then we drive to the pure white, giant sand dunes where you can try sandboarding. Also a great place to take photos.
A beautiful nature reserve where we stop to see wildflowers in season. We either stop here or Hangover Bay depending on the weather conditions and/or the group on the day.
A beautiful little secluded bay that was used as a meeting place by local Aboriginal Tribes. See the plant the Aborigines used to make fishing nets as well as numerous other plants used as Bush Tucker and Medicine. If we stop at Nilgen Nature Reserve we generally don't have time to stop here as well.
See the magnificent Pinnacles Desert at sunset. Enjoy a barbeque dinner with wine followed by stargazing with Telescopes and Astro Binoculars. Here Dreamtime stories of the night sky created by the world's first astronomers, the Australian Aborginals.
View the Indian Ocean from the beach alongside the fishermans Jetty at Lancelin. Take in the breathtaking scenes of the ocean and take a short walk along the beach. Stop here is dependent on time, conditions and is at tour guide's discretion.

The expereince was fantastic - I liked everything about the tour. The mini-bus was comfortable. Toilet breaks were adequate. The food was good - but if you are a vegetarian you might see the choice limited. The commentary was informative. The star gazing was extra-ordinary - the telescope was a 9 inch one ! The help with astro photography was great.
The Pinnacles at sunset is a spectacle experience and spotting the stars and Milky Way as they and it appear was really interesting.
Tour ran on time and guides Sam and Peter were knowledgeable and fun. Dune surfing was so much fun - if you are hesitant- don’t be it was easy. The Pinnacles and star gazing was awesome - be on the lookout for kangaroos we saw one in our way in and out. Food was delicious and fresh. I only wish they provided a bit more wine - 6 bottles for 28 people not enough. Finally while it was advertised as a small group of 12-16 it was twice that as each van held that many so not really a small group - Not a big deal but could use some clarity in the description.
Absolutely fantastic tour. Small group and great guide. The tour was well paced and the star gazing was unbelievable. BBQ was delicious. Best tour we have been on! Would highly recommend
Peter our driver/guide was very knowledgeable & made us feel very welcome. The bbq dinner was yummy & they catered to vegetarian. Wonderfully day & night 🥰
Whilst a bit expensive it was an amazing trip to the Pinnicals. Our guides were great and a special shout out to Claire who went above and beyond to assist me with our pick up location
We had a wonderful visit to Lancelin and the Pinnacles. Peter, our driver and host, worked exceptionally hard to ensure everyone had a great time. Nothing was too much trouble for Peter. Dinner was excellent and we enjoyed our time sandboarding, and exploring the Pinnacles. Unfortunately, the evening sky clouded over so we couldn't see too many stars, but that was out of our control. We still had a fabulous time. Thanks Peter!
Great tour! David was a great driver, guide and host! I will highly recommend it.
Be prepared with lots of flies. Other than that, fantastic experience. Sand boarding was lots of fun. Star gazing was amazing and beautiful. David the guide, was remarkable and amazing
The drive is long but the trip is worth it. The day we went it was extremely windy but the drivers made sure we still had a great experience. My husband and daughter both enjoyed the sandboarding and to my complete surprise I managed to have a go too! The pinnacles themselves were a very strange landscape which became an alien world after the sunset. Pete taught us lots about the stars while Sam cooked a delicious BBQ. The stars were the highlight of the trip. So many and so bright. We had binoculars to use and a chance to see them up close through a shared telescope. I saw the rings of Saturn. I definitely recommend this company and this tour.
It's a long, long, way there (and back), but absolutely worth the time & effort. Stopovers at Lancelin (incl. sand boarding) & Nilgin help make the time & distance a lot easier to beat. Most importantly though, our fabulous driver/guide, Peter, really made the time pass enjoyably with his interesting anecdotes, stories & knowledge and understanding of the cosmos. He also knows how to run a very tasty & nutritious BBQ. Be prepared for a late night return to Perth though.
We had a wonderful tour to The Pinnacles. From pick up to drop off, the guides Mark & Peter were friendly, helpful and very knowledgable - and brilliant cooks, the BBQ & salads were yum! Sandboarding was fun and The Pinnacles at sunset was beautiful, truly magical to see, just stunning. It was interesting to hear about the solar system, spy the rings of Saturn through the telescope (despite the clouds!) and even find out how to snap quality pics of the Milky Way with my iPhone! Highly recommend.
This tour was a fun way to experience the beauty of the Pinnacles! We learnt some cool facts about astronomy, and had a delicious dinner under the desert sky!
Wonderful experience, knowledgeable staff, excellent bbq. We we were lucky the sky was clear and a full moon as well
It was an amazing experience. The places we saw were great and the food served delicious. Our guide (Mark) also made the drive very interesting by sharing his experiences and information about the places we visited.
The Pinnacles tour was a great experience. Our guide Mark was very friendly & knowledgeable. We stopped for a break & ice cream on the way to meet up with the other tour bus then headed for Sand boarding which was fun. The Pinnacles are amazing & the guys did a great job with our dinner. Pete explained all about the solar system while we were having dinner which was very interesting. We actually got to see Mercury through their giant telescope, another bonus. Would highly recommend this tour.
We loved sharing this adventure with our 10year old. A well organised day trip that packed in lots of fun! Great to do without the pressure to drive yourself, with a tasty BBQ dinner included.
The guide is very thoughtful, approachable and professional. He does everything on his own and the trip is an eye opening and enjoyable one even though the weather is very cold but blankets were being distributed to us so..all good! What a spectacular trip with Peter! :)
The tour to the Pinnacles Desert is made up of a number of stops along the way and our tour bus driver who is also our well informed guide Annalise kept us all in awe. The 1st stop at Guilderton was a beautiful sea side sight seeing village to enable stretching our legs ,toilet break and refreshments for the local shop. Then on to the 2nd stop at Nilgen Lookout to also view the abundant flora and fauna which was very interesting.Back on the bus to Hangover Bay a magnificent white sand beach that goes on for ever. back on the bus to Nambung National Park the home of the Pinnacles .We where guided to the viewing platform to view the Pinnacles standing in the for ground , who ever wanted to go for a short one hour walk on the trail through the pinnacles and get up close was absolutely fabulous experience. now it was almost dark we were presented with wine and juice and a lovely picnic dinner. With dinner done and the night sky in all its glory with a view of the stars that is not sen in our cities Annalise st up her giant telescope and set to view Jupiter which was amazing as the view was a crest shape that will not be seen for another 19 years. Annalise provided us with a full descriptive of the stars and pointed out the southern cross, scorpion , horse and many other shapes in the star’s arrangements. With a quick pack up we all got back on the bus for a drive back to Perth and drop off a various pasanger Hotels. What a fabulous day with an experience we won’t forget.
Long drive to the Pinnacles in a rather cramped and uncomfortable small bus. Our tour guide, Peter, was very knowledgeable about all things astronomy and gave us a very informative talk about our galaxy and the planets within. Weather was very cold and windy and the blankets provided were very welcome. Peter did an excellent job of catering dinner for 18 of us, but he could use another helper with unpacking/packing up all the gear. A more comfortable mode of transport for 6 hours sitting on the 'bus'(?) would have made this experience more enjoyable.
Very well organised. Bad weather was likely for our original booking. We were helped to rearrange this at short notice. Our driver and guide was kind, knowledgeable, helpful and friendly whilst being professional. We would definitely recommend this company for this trip.
Dave was a very funny and entertaining guide.
Well organised and an experience not to be missed. You are kept up to date with any changes and reminded of how many days to your upcoming tours. Tour guides are very professional at their jobs.
This tour was fantastic. My driver, I think his name was Chris, was fantastic. We had Keith, the stargazing expert. The trip was well planned. With a break during the drive. Some entertainment on the way, with the sandboarding. Arriving in the desert, the natural pinnacles were spectacular. I thought the BBQ was amazing. I have special dietary requirements. This was made easy by your staff. Thank you for the most enjoyable afternoon and evening. Chris and Keith made 3 attempts for all to view the stars. The third one was successful, with everyone seeing the Milky Way, the Southern Cross, and many other stars. Thank you for this amazing tour.
Wonderful excursion to see more than Perth city. The Pinnacles are stunning. If you pick this tour, go with Peter. He is professional, well educated and very knowledgable about the flora and fauna of WA, as well as the history of the area.you will love his discourse on the moon and the stars and the earth while looking at the stars at night at the Pinnacles.
Best and unforgettable experience. From meet up point, drop off point, transport and food left us an amazing trip.
Highly recommend booking the sunset‑and‑night tour. Watching golden sunset fall over the limestone pillars, then stargazing under clear dark skies away from city lights is absolutely spectacular. This is the best way to experience the Pinnacles, far better than visiting only in daytime. A truly unforgettable experience.
A truly enjoyable afternoon and evening. We were lucky that the rain held off for the tour and were also lucky that the overcast sky provided us with brilliant sunset photos across the Pinnacles. Fortunately, we were able to stop under a clear night sky on the way back, and had magnificent views of the stars without any light pollution to spoil the moment. The guide was helpful, but probably should have done his homework on which planets and moon were going to be visible on the night of the tour. The communication from Chloe was always first class, but it's a pity that East Perth was not in the pickup area for such a small and intimate tour. Would recommend this tour.
Very well run with extremely good guide (Peter). He was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic.
I did Lumineer Adventure Tours’ Pinnacles Sunset Dinner and Stargazing Tour on 9 August 2026 and thought it was excellent from start to finish. Our guide, Peter, was experienced, extremely well organised and approachable, with a great sense of humour. Throughout the journey he provided interesting commentary about Perth, the surrounding region and the places we were visiting. Our first activity was sandboarding at the Lancelin Sand Dunes. The dunes are relatively modest (about 40 metres high), so they are ideal for beginners, and Peter explained the equipment and technique clearly. Everyone had plenty of opportunities to have a go. If you have sandboarded on far bigger dunes elsewhere (e.g., 100+ metre dunes), you might find this part a little tame. We then made a short roadside nature stop, where Peter showed us some of the distinctive local plants and trees, explaining how they are adapted to bushfires. The highlight was the Pinnacles Desert. We had around an hour to explore this extraordinary landscape independently around sunset, with plenty of time for photographs in a quieter part of the park. While we explored, Peter prepared a simple but enjoyable BBQ dinner (hotdogs, meat, salad, etc) and set up the astronomy equipment. After sunset, Peter gave us an interesting introduction to the night sky while we ate. Despite fairly cloudy conditions, we could still see the Milky Way and Venus, with one large telescope and lots of binoculars available for closer views. An excellent, very professionally organised tour and a thoroughly enjoyable day. Peter was an outstanding guide and I would strongly recommend the experience.
I was a little nervous about this tour because we have a two year old and you just never know if they're going to be into something or not, but it was a great experience. Minor problem with the pick up but otherwise a great trip.
What a great way to experience the Pinnacles, along with a bit of fun sand boarding along the way. It’s a long day but the view and the photography opportunities are worth it, and the stargazing through a telescope is an added bonus. Highly recommended.
The Stargazing was a wonderful, wonderful experience. The coach captain, David is such a great host.. He was very professional in his services and willing to go an extra mile which we appreciated. His knowledge of the milky way and which stars to point us to is impressive. His cooking at the Pinnacle was fabulous and the amount of food was more than enough for all of us. The only complaint we had is - the seats and leg room is too squeezy, our legs could hardly move once we are seated. It's a fully packed group thus every seat was taken up. We are glad that the group on the whole was a cooperative and cohesive one though we don't know each other.
It was an awesome experience. Sandboarding was a special treat and the stargazing experience was also a great experience. Such a great variety of activities and the dinner was also great!
Driver and guide, Pete was great. Pinnacles definitely the highlight of the trip but other aspects also enjoyable. Having the telescope to look at things only visible in the southern hemisphere was cool. Pete was very knowledgeable. Food was good, served buffet style. Would go again.
Was s wonderful experience and the guide Peter was extremely knowledgable, friendly and made the trip worthwhile. He made the trip a lot of fun.
It was a fun day out. Our guides took very good care of us and are very passionate! Sam made sure all of us had a chance sliding down the dunes and kept everyone on time Peter was very passionate during story telling, about the culture, showing us the stars and planets. We were blessed with clear skies as well. Highly recommended!
Memorable and romantic stargazing in the amazing Australian outback. Highly recommend for couples, families, everyone! Very knowledgable tour guides. I learned a lot about aboriginal peoples, plants, animals, and stars. Thank you!
Excellent arrangements. Wonderful guides. Fantastic food. Can’t fault anything! Just a shame that the weather wasn’t in favour, but that wasn’t in anyone’s control.
It was an amazing experience for my husband and me. The pick-up was punctual, and tour was well organised. Peter, our driver & tour guide was very knowledgeable & friendly. It helped that the weather was perfect that day, so our group was able to enjoy sandboarding and the full Pinnacles and stargazing experience! The bbq sunset dinner was plentiful & tasty. Everything turned out well & it was an unforgettable day for us!
This is a tour represents a great day of discovery for people of all ages and abilities. Our guide Dave was very engaging with the entire bus group (who ranged in age from 3 to 73) and remained enthusiastic throughout the day. His knowledge of the night sky at The Pinnacles was outstanding. I highly recommend this trip for young and old, there is something for everyone to learn. Much thanks to Dave .
The tour guide (Peter?) was friendly, helpful and entertaining. I wish I could have him for all tours on my future holidays. The barbecue was quite good. They even had warm blankets for the drive back. This kind of tour can be weather dependant so if it's rainy you won't get a picturesque sunset and if it's cloudy you won't see many stars. Much better in summer where the days are warm and you can appreciate the cool nights once the sun sets and the stars come out.
Absolutely amazing! We were lucky enough to see both the stunning sunset and the Milky Way. A big shout out to our guide Peter. Not only was he knowledge, he was also funny and considerate. He tried his best to explain the attractions and answer all the questions that we had. We could never enjoy our tour that much without him. The logistic of this tour is also reasonable. 10 out of 10!
A wonderful experience with my fiance for his birthday. Tour guide was entertaining and very knowledgeable, and a fairly decent cook 😋
Superb and unforgettable experience seeing the southern hemisphere nightsky in the pinnacles. Aaron the guide took great care of the group, entertaining us with interesting facts and history and Aussie music, preparing a lovely BBQ dinner (complete with a variety of salads), and driving us safely to and fro the Pinnacles. The sandboarding activity at Lancelin was also heaps of fun for adults and kids.
The guide was friendly, informative, and well organized throughout the tour. The itinerary was enjoyable, with enough time at each stop to explore and take photos. Everything ran smoothly, and it was definitely time well spent. I would happily recommend this tour to others visiting Melbourne.
Our guide Peter is very knowledgeable about so many different things, from WA flora and fauna to the cosmos. He also cooked a pretty good BBQ.
Peter, our driver and guide, was absolutely amazing! He took us through meticulous details of the area and its surroundings, and his in-depth knowledge of the stars and planets is awesome. We had a great experience.
This was a brilliant way to spend the day - pickup in the CBD was easy, and the driver made the trip to Pinnacles Desert interesting. Of course there were stops for some sights, and of course the sand dune surfing was brilliant! We were on a small bus, which was adequate for the time/distance of travel. The Pinnacles themselves are really quite a unique experience - the tour allows plenty of time to explore, and then as the sun sets (amazing photo opportunities) you return to the bus where a bbq feast has been laid out with dozens of salads, various meats and vegetarian options, a generous number of drinks, and even a lovely dessert. While you eat this the tour guide gives a bit of a talk as the sky darkens, and then you get an astronomy tour with binoculars to use and a big reflector telescope for highlights visible on the evening. Pro-tip - if you have your own binoculars, bring them - some of the ones they provide have seen better days! The trip back in the dark seemed much quicker than the way there - I might have dozed off lol, but of course there were no stops on the way back either. Well worth it!
