Itinerary
Stop at the farm where the Academy Award winning movie "Witness" was filmed. You will have a chance to tour the beautiful Amish farm which remains much as it was in the movie, interact with their many animals and possibly meet the wonderful Amish family who owns the farm. This is a completely private stop and not available to the public. We will stop at a private and beautiful Amish home, where the kids make birdhouses. Witness Amish craftsmanship up close in the artisan stable and barn - and purchase a birdhouse if you like.
Tour of an operating, private Amish dairy farm dating back to 1830's
We will take a driving tour through beautiful Lancaster County farmland and learn about the history, culture, religion, and education of the Amish. We will see buildings associated with the very first European settlers from more than 300 years ago, covered bridges, 19th century mills, and more on our way to our first stop.
Stop at an Amish owned and operated creamery, where your ice cream is included, and the views are free too. This is ice cream as it should be... rich, fresh, and delicious!

Moses was a fantastic, knowledgeable tour guide.
Mike was the owner of the company and he did a great job of filling in for the guides who were on vacation the day we participated. We learned a lot from his knowledge and most importantly we enjoyed ourselves.
Wonderful tour in a small passenger van. Our driver and guide, Mike, was an encyclopedia of information about the Amish and the Mennonite and personally knew many of the Amish we encountered. Great stops in lovely off-the-beaten path locales. We appreciated the ear pieces he gave out so no matter where you were in the van, or when walking around outside, you could clearly hear what he was saying. I highly recommend this tour.
Our tour guide was excellent. We all really enjoyed the tour! Would recommend to anyone! Thank you!!
Excellent tour with so much information and Mike was a phenomenal tour guide. Really enjoyed the ice cream.
Wonderful experience. We learned so much about the Amish from our guide, Sandy.
This tour was excellent and very well done. The only negative was that the windows in the van were dirty inside and out and it was a beautiful sunny day. It was so annoying to look out through dirty windows. This was very preventable if the driver payed attention and carried windex and paper towels or had her van ready for the tour that day.
We learned so much about Lancaster County, its history, and the people who live there. Sandy was an excellent tour guide with in- depth knowledge. Highly recommend!
8 of us were in 12 passenger van. Our guide Sandy gave interesting anecdotes about the Amish , Mennonites, and others in the area. We visited 4 farms, and saw a variety of crops, livestock, and equipment. If you enjoy history, this is for you. I particularly liked learning about the Amish customs and life style from a non-Amish woman who has lived here all her life. The ice cream was a real treat.
Sandy was great as a guide. We learned and visited many interesting sites. Enjoyed this very much.
Guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. Enjoyed our trip and learned a lot about the Amish community.
It was a very knowledgeable tour. The Amish we met was very nice and did not mind talking with us at all. Beautiful country. Our guide Moses was the best.
This was our 2nd time on this tour and it did not disappoint!
If you have lots of questions about the Amish way of life this is the tour for you. Our guide, Dale, was fantastic. Born and raised in Lancaster county he was able to share stories and insights that were very informative. This is a 10 out of 10!
Amazing.. Our guide was so informative.. history until present.. Fantastic! my 12 year old grandson rated it ten out of ten
Sandy was a wonderful guide so knowledgeable and friendly. We were overjoyed with the tour and will recommend your company.thank you.
Our guide Dale was a phenomenal wealth of knowledge and despite being a long time guide provided an energetic commentary about the history of the Amish culture as well as the stories of the places we visited. Recommend highly.
The tour was incredible. Sandy was extremely knowledgeable and cheerful. She was a great guide and took an interest in our group, I cannot recommend this tour and especially this guide. We learned a lot about the Amish culture. You will definitely enjoy this guided tour and the ice cream was fantastic!
Wonderful tour for those interested in the history of the Amish and their lifestyle. Would have appreciated additional opportunities to stop for photos of covered bridges and to see craftsmanship at work.
Great immersion into Amish life. Love the different farms and people. Views were breathtaking and guide was full of information.
Very knowledgeable and friendly guide, stops and points of interest were well planned
Very informative tour. I wasn't sure what to expect, thought it might be kind of rude to the Amish people, but it was done very respectfully. Our tour guide Moses was excellent, knew so much history about the Amish and the area.
Amazing experience with a professional guide. Highly recommend this tour to anyone willing to know more about Amish culture.
Our guide, Moses Colon, was great! He was very personable and very knowledgable about the area and Amish history! It was a lovely experience!
This was our FAVORITE tour! Dale is incredibly knowledgable of the Amish and the area having grown up in there, and this is one of the few tours where you actually visit a handful of Amish farms. A MUST, if you're in Lancaster County!

Just a wonderful, 3-hour bus tour with three stops. All three stops were at working Amish farms. One stop was at the farm where the 1980s movie, Witness, was filmed. The tour guide, Dale, was a wealth of knowledge about the Amish, Mennonites, and Quakers. We wish Dale would have taken questions during the tour instead of waiting until we arrived at each stop. GREAT TOUR!
We had such high hopes after reading the other reviews and unfortunately we had a much different experience. Our guide was not engaging and didn’t seem to know answers to any of our questions. We left feeling like we would’ve had a much better experience just driving around on our own. Very disappointing as we wanted to learn more about the area and community.
Mark did an excellent job. We had a private tour with him. He is knowledgeable of the Amish culture and answered several questions I had. The ice cream was amazing. Driving through the countryside was beautiful.
This tour is so much more than just visiting the commercialized Amish house tours in the area. If you want a lot more depth, I couldn't recommend the tour enough. Our tour guide (Moses) was a wealth of information, and you could tell that he really is part of the local community. He's a great guide and added a lot of interesting insights and background that we never would have known without the tour. Highly recommend!!!
Our Tour guide Moses, was very personable and treated us like family. His knowledge of the history of the Amish and Mennonites was valuable to our experience. All of our questions were answered in detail The group size is limited which resulted in an experience that was personable. We loved the family homes that he took us to and the ice cream was wonderful Thank you Moses. We highly recommend unique Amish immersion in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
We enjoyed our Amish immersion tour and found it to be a very informative way to learn more about Amish life and culture. Our van arrived on time, and the vehicle was clean and very comfortable. Our guide Sandy was extremely knowledgeable and gave detailed explanations of Amish life as well as describing places we visited along the way. At various points she specifically invited questions, and she answered everything anyone asked. Our only small disappointment was that we would have enjoyed a little more personal interaction from our guide. We would recommend this tour to anyone visiting Lancaster County who would like to learn more about Amish life and culture.
Our guide Sandy was extremely knowledgeable and experienced. She had a deep understanding of how the Amish people live. She shared their way of life and their customs. She started the tour with a discussion of how the Amish first established themselves in the United States. She spoke about the history to present day. It was truly a very interesting experience and I’d highly recommend if you’re in the Lancaster area to take this tour.
This was an amazing experience. Living near Ohio Amish country I thought I knew a lot about the Amish, but this tour with Moses taught me so much more! Moses was very friendly, knowledgeable, and an absolute pleasure to be with. He had a wonderful relationship with the Amish families who owned the farms we visited. Very impressive! I highly recommend this tour for an authentic Amish experience.
Had a really nice time. Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. Learned things we would never have known. Beautiful area.
This was an excellent experience. Our guide, Moses shared so much history of the Amish and Mennonites from their arrival to present day lives. The van was very comfortable. We would highly recommend using the offered ear pieces even if you are not hearing impaired as it makes it easier for Moses. The length of the van and the air conditioner makes it difficult to hear and you won’t want to miss his dialogue! The farms we visited were beautiful and the tour through the country side added to the whole experience. Of course the delicious ice cream was a must have!
Excellent tour. Highly recommend. Our guide, Dave, was terrific and very knowledgeable.
The guide was great, nice first experience in Lancaster Amish area. It would have been perfect if the tour included a stop at the Amish restaurant/cafeteria.
We had a wonderful time! Our guide Moses was amazing! He really made the experience fun and personable! He was a wealth of knowledgeable and really made us feel like family! I highly recommend this tour!
Unique isolated cultures and religions
Dave was a knowledgeable, interactive, and fun tour guide. Each site we visited brought me new appreciation for the Amish.
Moses our guide was wonderful and so knowledgeable. He knew answers to any question we threw at him.
Wonderful tour of Lancaster’s Amish community. Our guide Sandy was wonderful. She was knowledgeable and added personal antidotes to the tour making it even better.
Absolutely wonderful tour of 4 Amish farms, including the one where the movie “Witness” (with Harrison Ford, Kelly McGillis & Lukas Haas) was filmed, a dairy farm with homemade ice cream and a woodworking business’s family farm with handmade birdhouses for sale—made by the 14 yr old son. Our tour guide Dave (from loKal Tours) was the best! Very knowledgeable, informative, personable. He made the tour enjoyable and memorable! We loved having a local guide with such wonderful insider info and perspective. Once again VIATOR came through with booking us a 5-star tour of the area we were visiting :)
Moses was an excellent tour guide providing us with many details of the Amish culture. It was such a great learning experience that I would highly recommend.
MOSES was AMAZING! The tour was FANTASTIC!!! I would strongly recommend this tour and ask for MOSES to take you!!! The Dennis family
Dave is an incredibly knowledgeable and engaging guide that made this experience truly amazing! Our group had 7 people on a hot July day during the worst heatwave. The icecream was a delicious cooling treat. I was able to buy a half-gallon of raw milk at the creamery which Dave was able to secure in the cooler in the van, even though it was a tight fit. I appreciate that since it saved me a trip after the tour. However, if you intend to buy any perishable items at the creamery during the tour, you can bring your own small cooler with ice and keep it in the van. I highly recommend this tour! Seeing the craftsmanship of the Amish and their hard work ethics and enginuity with my own eyes, accompanied by the knowledgeable comments of our awesome guide Dave, made it a memorable and beautiful experience. He answered all our questions, and trust me, we had a lot of questions during the entire tour. As a gardener myself, I admire the beautiful gardens the Amish people established. Simple but beautiful life!
It was really nice to be able to ride in the front seat in comfort (with AC) & not worry about where to turn (if driving); I took pictures as we went as well as at the stops. Moses was an excellent tour guide and invited questions at any time. Overall, it was great to see a couple of authentic farm & dairy locations, the property where Witness was filmed and to have an ice cream stop during the 'extra' hot weather we had before the 4th of July (2026).
Dave did an excellent job of giving us very interesting details of the places we visited. It was very evident he is a natural teacher but also a careful observer of the Amish. You could tell he has great relationships with those Amish we encountered at the stops. We would heartily recommend this tour!
