Our guide John Fitzgerald could not have provided a better total experience. John explained the lead up, the 3 days of battles and the aftermath in a entertaining and thorough manner. John's knowledge and dedication to his craft was evident the moment we were engaged.

Greta museum. Not crowded and wonderful exhibits. There immersive experience was very cool. Felt like you were there in the battle.
Not what you would think for a museum. Just walk downtown and you will see more history. Or do the auto car tour.
Phil did a great job, i was in contact with him before our tour and he was able to do research on my ancestory family member and took us directly to the spot he was at on July 1 of the battle and where he was at on day two and three. He also found additional info on his unit to share with us. He also took us all around the rest of the battlefield. This really made our trip memerable
Nice little museum. Take your time and read all the storyboards it’s very educational. They also have a nice 20 minute film that shows you the military maneuvering of the battle. Only $11 to enter . Highly recommend.
Very informative lot of relics a lot of information and when your family has fought in the battle of Gettysburg, kind of makes it very real
Eric was amazing. His knowledge of the hour by hour details of each day of fighting really enhanced the experience. It made it real and filled in the blanks of history that has been told for decades.
This was a great little side trip for us. It’s not a big museum, but it is setup beautifully. As you walk through, it tells a story about the battle as it was viewed by the residents of Gettysburg. Also has a nice gift shop!
Great little museum. Didn’t take long to go through but still very interesting. The staff people were very pleasant and helpful. Worth it.
Lots of time and effort went into this Civil War experience. The cellar experience was truly a sobering moment.
So interesting. We took a guided 3-hour tour with Eric Linbaht. He's a wealth of sophisticated knowledge and a great communicator. Even more impressive, when we asked him to drill down on something (strategy, battlefield surgery, period clothing) he knocked each one out of the park.
I just returned home from Gettysburg and hiring a LBG (Licensed Battle Guide) is well worth the money. This was my wife and I’s first trip to the battlefield and it was great. Booking through the Heritage Center was super easy. They send you a detailed email on where to meet and what time to be there. Our guide Howard Liddic was great as well, his knowledge is very deep on the battle and civil war. I decided to bundle museum tickets with the tour and they have a cool setup. There is a nice collection of artifacts and a “cellar experience” as well as a short documentary type movie (about 15 minutes) the theatre itself has a surprise, but I will leave that for your experience. The staff was pleasant, overall I would book with them again. I will say to anyone visiting the battlefield to do a little research before you go, the guide can focus on what you’re interested in and customize the tour for what you want to see. I wish I had more time because there are so many things to see on the battlefield and in town - definitely a destination to visit more than once.
Larry was a great tour guide. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. He really brought the battle to life!
A Licensed Battlefield Guide is the ONLY way to truly appreciate the amazing military engagement at Gettysburg. Our guide was Erik and he was fantastic! He answered our 10,000 questions ranging from basic to advanced and kept our 13YO interested and engaged in the tour. If you're investing in a trip to Gettysburg, it's absolutely worth investing in a Licensed guide to get the most out of your experience.
The tour through the battlefield was so insightful. I’d gone into it knowing very little and left with so much knowledge and a pretty good understanding of everything that happened. The Guide specifically was incredible I would highly recommend Robert Steenstra as a guide, because of him my father who has some mobility restrictions was able to see the cemetery with incredible ease.
Couldn’t ask for more. Toured with Bill T. Excellent guide. Methodical, knowledgeable, patient. Answered all our questions. Took his time yo make sure we had a good picture of what we were discussing. Plan yo comeback.
We only had one afternoon to visit the historical museum in Gettysburg, but it was a meaningful experience to catch a glimpse of the awful toll on lives taken during the Civil War. The $10 admission fee was an unexpected blessing.
We did the guided tour and the museum. BIll was our tour guide and he was phenomenal! After learning from him, we went through the museum. I loved that we did it in that order because everything we learned from Bill was visually shown on the movie and the other exhibits throughout the museum!
The tour was worth it. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. We took the two hour tour through the Gettysburg battle field and enjoyed knowing more about this battle. The meeting place with our tour guide was very accessible with free parking.
It was not what we were expecting. I thought it was a guided tour but it was only admission into museum and 20 minute film. The museum was good but again it’s not the tour of Gettysburg I was expecting.
This was a very nice museum to visit. The 3D images, video and cellar experience were great, and the gift shop was nice as well.
My husband and I spent 4 hours with a private tour guide named Larry. He took us through the battle in order from day 1 to day 3. He was extremely knowledgeable, and the time we spent with him was so worth it! We highly recommend seeking him out if you are ever in the area of Gettysburg, Pa.
We enjoyed our tour, Chris was great !
Super easy and convenient, great experience
Toured the battlefield via a travel guide in my vehicle. Guide's name was Erik (last name?). He was absolutely the best!! We enjoyed our tour to the max! The town had plenty of good restaurants, but getting to them was a pain. The main areas were all parking meters, which were hard to figure out how to use & very expensive. All of the townspeople agreed with me on that, but all said there was nothing that could be done. I would suggest they use their ballot on the pols. I probably would have tripled my $$ spent there for 2 days, if there were easier parking, regardless of prices for parking.
i truly got a lot out of this museum. the movie was awesome. the cellar scared me. review of the heritag museum
Everything about our visit to Gettysburg was awesome, truly awesome. Except it was cloudy & cold. Where we stayed was close to all but 1 place we wanted to visit. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. We took the 3 hour guided driving tour. Our guide was knowledgeable and we could have spent another hour with him. We could not have asked for more
The tour guide Chris was very knowledgeable and added to the experience.
Excellent displays - the 3d pictures are great and the movies very informative.
I absolutely loved this trip! Our personal guide, Paul, a retired Army Lieutenant Colonel, provided us his unique insight and knowledge on battle tactics, which was so valuable and made for an incredible experience as he drove us through all the battlefield sites. Paul's knowledge and perspective was beyond impressive, his enthusiasm and immersive storytelling brought history to life for us, and he was incredibly patient with our questions as we toured the battlefield. I highly recommend doing the longer 3 hour tour to experience this pivotal battle in US history. We learned so much as Paul's words gave life to the story of the battle of Gettysburg over those 3 days in July 1863, and its historical significance as a turning point of the Civil War.
I booked three 2 hour tours. I asked that Tour 1 would focus on day 1 battles, Tour 2 on day 2, and Tour 3 on day 3 Gettysburg. Our guide Bill T was great. He was very knowledgeable about all of the important events. His explanations were easy to follow and understand. Bill really brought the essence of the battles to life. Great
A born educator and a delightful person, our guide Erik provided my wife and me with a perfect and memorable journey through the timeline, places, personalities and historic drama of Gettysburg Battlefield. It is worth every penny and more.
I can’t recommend this tour enough. The tour guide was knowledgeable informative and engaging. He was able to keep our history buff son engaged and learning as well as us not so well studied family members. He really brought it all to life and helped us fully understand all the aspects of such an eventful few days. This is definitely not an experience you can gain on your own. I 100% recommend everyone experience this and hire them to give you a tour.
Cute little museum. Not a big place but interesting.
They received my money and confirmed a visit for 1st January, yet, they knew they won't be open. Bad.
First, I am not a history buff. My Father was, and he passed away before he could take his trip to Gettysburg. I decided to take a few days and go to Gettysburg, as I was intrigued to learn about what my Dad was interested in and why. Well, August 2nd was my lucky day. I was placed with the BEST guide that the site has. Mr. Robert W. (Bob) Steenstra. His passion for what he does is unparalleled. By the first stop, I was hanging on every word and taking note of the positions he was pointing to. Halfway in, he gets so passionate about the stories that he is telling, that I find myself getting emotional. He knows it THAT WELL, and takes you with him on that journey. This man isn't simply a tour guide, he is a top expert of the Battle of Gettysburg. Whether you are deep into into Civil War History or just want to casually learn what happened, Bob is the best there is. If you can get him for a private tour, I encourage you to take it. He will keep you on the edge of your seat and you will retain what he says, as his delivery is amazing. Ask him to tell you about Lincoln's speech. Enjoy!
Chris Rebmann was my tour guide. He was absolutely fantastic. He is so knowledgeable and Civil War history - not only the details about Gettysburg but other aspects of the war as well. I had a great time and great conversation. Thanks Chris for a great afternoon. Ken Froedge
We requesgted a licensed battlefield guide and Paul Bailey was assigned. What a gem of a guy! He arrived on time and asked us what we were interested in. He proceeded to tailor his talk to all the things we wanted to know about. We requested a 4 hour tour. At the end of 4 hours, Paul (who had talked non stop already for 4 hours!) looked and sounded like he could easily go on for 4 more hours. We had barely scratched the surface of his knowledge. We highly recommend Paul, if you have the chance to have him assigned to your group, you will not be disappointed. Paul is clearly one of the most enthusiastic and knowledgeable guides at the park. We can't recommend him highly enough!
The museum was a great experience and the movie that comes with admission is a top notch production, and it has a large gift and souvenir shop. You can also arrange for a Licensed Battlefield Guide here as well, I highly recommend it!
I loved this museum. The movie was filled with information regarding the battle. The rest of the museum was a really neat experience.
The live action program at the Gettysburg Heritage Center was an absolute highlight of our visit. The reenactors didn’t just perform—they transported us back in time, showing what life was like for ordinary civilians suddenly caught in the crossfire of the Battle of Gettysburg. Each character shared personal stories that made history feel real, emotional, and human, far beyond what you might read in a textbook. We were happy to continue our time with three of the actors who further revealed moments before, during, and after the battles of Gettysburg: Tim Hirt and Debbie Saltziver (from Gettysburg Licensed Town Historians/Guides), and Debbie (from the Shriver House) were tops! Please know that your efforts to bring to life the citizens of Gettysburg have not gone unnoticed! Your talents have helped us understand well beyond what any textbook tour would. The setting, the costumes, and the passion of the performers all came together to create an immersive and unforgettable experience. It was both educational and deeply moving—we walked away with a greater appreciation for the hardships faced by families during the Civil War. If you want to experience history brought to life in a way that stays with you, I highly recommend attending the live action program at the Gettysburg Heritage Center.
Great experience. Bill was very knowledgeable and an all around great guide. We learned a lot and had a great time. Would definitely recommend.
This was the second trip there in 5 years. The expreience was great we were able some other things we did not the first time.It is a great to see so much history there.
The Museum opened on time. They lent me a wheel chair for my husband. The 3rd photos/exhibits were truly unusual. The recreation of the battle & the cellar that people hid in for days.. The books they have ...are really terrific. It take 1 hour or 2 hours depending on how much read...
Outstanding experience and worth every penny. No better way to view the battlefield and understand how events unfolded. John Fitzpatrick was our tour guide and did a memorable job: most informative, detailed, thoughtful, respectful. Don't hesitate to book a tour. I'd do it again and for a longer tour.
Our time here was very interesting and informative. Especially the 3D video presentation which you don’t want to miss!
This is a very informative experience with artefacts, information boards & films. So glad we stopped off here en route to Washington DC. The surrounding countryside is also beautiful.
This was a wonderful experience. The museum is easy to navigate and learn more about the Battle of Gettysburg. The gift shop has a good selection of books and souvenirs. We met our guide here for the guided driving tour. Our guide filled the 3 hours so well that neither my friend nor I were aware of the time!!!! We learned such a vast amount about the battle and understand it so much better!
We had an amazing time with the Skip the Line: Gettysburg Heritage Center and Museum Battlefield Tour! Our guide, Chris B, did a phenomenal job—he was incredibly knowledgeable, engaging, and you could truly feel his passion for the history of Gettysburg. His storytelling brought the battlefield to life in a powerful and memorable way. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the area. It’s an experience you won’t forget!
My daughter and I took the 4 hour tour. It was excellent and well worth the money. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and could answer all questions. Our experience was great!
