Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and you could feel the passion when he was sharing stories of the market and the different shops. The tour turned into a private group as my sister and I were the only two, which made it more personal and comfortable asking questions. Our tour guide provided us with a pretzel from an Amish stand and it was the best pretzel we had eaten to date. He also provided a sweet treat at the end of the tour. Glad we did the tour first and later we were able to explore the market alone.
I was so impressed by the Reading Terminal Market. My husband and I were the only ones on the tour so it was almost like a private tour. I was happy it was not cancelled due to nobody else booking it. Matt was so good. Very informative and very friendly. Very impressive market.
Great tour with Matt. This tour helps you overcome the overwhelming feeling you get when you walk in the door. Now can easily explore the market by ourselves.
Mr. Matt really showed that he enjoys doing what he does. I found it excellent that he was on a first name basis with several people. He explained how they work together. He explained the pride some of the businesses had because they were passed down from the previous generation. My favorite places were Beck’s Cajun and Ma Lessie. I would definitely recommend this tour!
Matt was wonderful. Full of great details about the market and its history. Well spoken and a fun afternoon spent in the market with him!
Adam was a great tour guide. He knew so much history and background of the Reading Terminal. He gave us great tips and suggestions on why he enjoys the wonderful food offered. We had a very nice time talking with him!
There's more to the Market than meets the eye! Matt explained its history to us, showed how it's family-oriented, and pointed out how several vendors sell meats and produce to other vendors. He also pointed out his personal-favorite products! Highly recommended.
We really enjoyed this tour with Tootsie! She knows everything and everyone because she used to be a vendor at the market for 30 years! Tootsie was friendly and funny! We learned about the history of the market and about certain specific vendors. Also the tour included a couple of delicious treats. After the tour was over, we explored the market some more and had some food. The tour definitely enhanced our experience of the market. We love making real human connections when we travel.
Great to spend a full day walking , smelling and tasting. So many different kinds of shops, food from breakfast to snacks to full time dinner. The best places have long libes like Chicken Waffles, Ice Cream stops and everything Philadelphia. Everyone is very friendly and just a great time to walk and see all.
I arranged this tour for a group. Matt was very easy to work with (he even accommodated my last minute changes). Tootsie did our tour of Reading Terminal Market. She knew everything there was to know about the market. After our tour, Matt met up with us and we did a scavenger hunt. It was a fun way to end our tour.
The tour guide did not turn up. I waited for over half an hour and I was at the meeting place 15 minutes early. Very unprofessional.
We learned so much about a place I’d been to many times. I never knew the history and early evolution of the Reading Terminal Market. It was really fun to take my kids and watch them decide which foods to try.
It was a productive and fun way to spend 45 minutes. Before taking the tour I always felt overwhelmed upon entering the market. I never did more than step inside and upon witnessing the hustle and bustle step back out. The market seemed crowded, enormous and overwhelming. The tour covered the history of the market, the composition and types of shops, lots of fun fact and a couple of local snacks. I learned that the lines move quickly and the vendors are friendly! I no longer feel intimidated but instead comfortable.
Matt was great! Lots of energy, lots of enthusiasm, introduced us to the owners of several stalls at the market. Very knowledgeable about the history of Reading Terminal. Showed us many food spots we had missed in previous visits to this market. I live in Philly and I highly recommend.
We enjoyed our tour of the Reading Market. Adam was kind and shared his knowledge of the market to help make our experience memorable. Thanks Adam.
This helped me get my bearings in the market and perfect amount of snacks for the time (~45 mins.). I was able to go back later on my own and had a better sense of what I wanted to get on the follow-up visit.
This is a great way to get an overview and history of the market with a couple of treats mixed in. Highly recommend.
Matt was an excellent guide. He was very knowledgeable and knew the merchants in the market. I would recommend d this your to anyone who would like to know the history of the market and eat delicious food
I did the tour with a group of work colleagues and our guide was Michael. He had lots of little interesting tid bits of information about the history of the Market and the food there. You can of course go to the market yourself and go around the stalls and buy/try things. However, some of the very popular items like Dinic’s pork/beef sandwiches (melt in your mouth meat), had a queue around the corner of you hadn’t pre-ordered! So doing the tour saves you time and disappointment too. We also had a little room that we were able to sit down and eat in with our big sandwiches. That was easier than walking around trying to eat amongst the lanes. After the tour officially finished you can ask all about any other food outlets and recommendations. Then go visit some more. Great food and great guide. Enjoy!
