Itinerary
The Hop-On Hop-Off Big Bus Tour, operated by Philadelphia Trolley Works, is one of the best ways to get to know Philadelphia and see all the top sights. Each double-decker bus has live narration by a fully-trained, friendly Philly guide, so you’ll learn all about the city’s history, culture, popular shopping and dining spots (like where to get the best, authentic Philly cheesesteak), and more while the guide directs your attention to famous landmarks along the way – making sure you see it all. Choose to sit in covered seats on the first level, or venture to the second level for open-air seating and a bird’s-eye-view of the streets below. Your ticket lets you ride one comprehensive loop, the Blue route, to see the best of Philadelphia in one tour. You’ll have the flexibility to hop-on or off at any of the 25+ included stops along the route so you can explore an area by foot or visit popular attractions. The full length of the tour is 90-minutes if you stay on the bus for the full tour loop. Or, take your time and enjoy the flexibility to hop on and off to explore the stops as many times as you want—buses run frequently with departures from 5th and Market streets, near East Corner every 15-20 minutes, so you’ll never have to wait long at the stops when you want to hop back on and continue your tour.
Explore the American criminal justice system, from some of its darker days to present, at the Eastern State Penitentiary – an official National Historic Landmark and one of the most historic and most visited buildings in Pennsylvania. Designed to inspire penitence and regret in the hearts of criminals through “confinement in solitude with labor,” Eastern State Penitentiary is one of the most important historic institutions in Pennsylvania. It’s often credited with helping to pave the way for reform of the judicial system in the US using methods of isolation and reflection rather than capital punishment and physical abuse. The building is regarded as an architectural marvel. The original seven cell blocks, spread like spokes of a wheel, had running water and central heat before even the White House. Its beautifully designed vaulted ceilings, sky-lit cells, and castle-like walls stand in stark contrast to the purpose of many of its elements, including cell blocks, solitary punishment cells, and Death Row. Now, no longer an active penitentiary, the prison stands in haunting ruin with crumbling cell blocks, empty guard towers, and various states of neglect.
Visit the only aquarium in the world where you can see hippos, the largest collection of sharks on the East Coast, the only aquarium in the US where you can see a great hammerhead shark, and one of the most popular attractions in Philadelphia, the Adventure Aquarium. With over 8,500 sea animals and innovative displays, this aquarium is known for always featuring new hands-on activities, animals, and exhibits, so every visit is a new opportunity to explore, discover and play. You’ll get to explore seven unique touch exhibits where you can get up close and personal with sharks, stingrays, and take your time exploring the aquarium’s 14 interactive and immersive exhibits. Every day the aquarium provides enriching experiences for visitors, like the African Penguin Feedings, Hippo Bedtime, Hippo Feeding, Meet the Divers, Up Close Animal Experiences, and more. Check the daily schedule to see when things are happening during your visit. Be sure to check out what’s playing at the Adventure Aquarium’s 3D Theater to explore deep-sea topics even more in a fully immersive, thrilling experience for the whole family.
Visit the most-visited museum in Pennsylvania and discover something new at The Franklin Institute, where kids and adults alike can experience all things science through innovative, explosive, and interactive science exhibitions that inspire curiosity and creativity. Let your imagination soar when you climb into a fighter jet; get your blood pumping in an exhibition about the science of sports; and take a journey through a giant two-story human heart. From tectonic plates to the starry skies, visitors will be inspired to explore the world around us. It all begins at The Franklin Institute - a smart place to have fun!

The Constitution Center is the first and only institution in the US established by Congress to “disseminate information about the United States Constitution on a non-partisan basis in order to increase the awareness and understanding of the Constitution among the American people.” Displays take you through important events in our nation's history and explain how the United States Constitution is as important today as it was over 200 years ago. Join in on the debate and take part in exhibits such as voting for your all-time favorite President, taking the Presidential Oath of Office, taking the seat of a Supreme Court Justice and honoring the service people who have fought for and defended the Constitution. As the “museum of we the people,” the National Constitution Center’s mission is to inspire active citizenship by providing a place where people in the US can learn about debate and celebrate freedom as it is protected by the most powerful expression of it: the U.S. Constitution. It’s a national headquarters for civic education and America’s town hall. Main exhibits include three attractions: Freedom Rising, The Story of We the People, and the iconic Signers’ Hall. In addition to the main exhibits, the museum hosts traveling exhibits throughout the year that offer fresh perspectives on the Constitution.

Total rip off! I did this for the experiences signed up for the experiences and then was notified that the experiences were canceled because not enough people signed up when I called they told me there was nothing they could do. Total waste of money I’m disgusted.
I am local and I bought this for so I could take my son to some thing over summer break in the city. We had a great time using the pass. We visited Otherworld, Philly zoo, seaport museum, big bus and more. We wanted to take the Italian market tour. However we could not get a tour within the 30 days that our pass was valid. I contacted City pass directly and they told me there was no way to extend the validity of my pass so that I could take this tour. I also contacted top dog who gave the tours and they would not pre-book me for a tour so that I could use it before it expired. It is unfair to advertise these as part of the go City pass when there is no way to use it!! I bought a pass for seven events and was only able to use five before it expired. Total bummer that buyers should be aware of.
The pass was easy to use. The Go-city pass app directed us to go to the visitors center to redeem the double decker bus pass. This is incorrect. We just had to take our pass to the bus stop across from the visitor’s center. I definitely recommend using the app to create an itinerary
It was really useful as it includes the main activities and you save time and money
We used the card to use the hop on/off bus, Longwood Gardens, which was magnificent, the battleship Jersey which was awe inspiring and the Revolution museum which was very informative. There were many more attractions which we didn’t have time to visit but we felt like we got great value from the card. We definitely recommend.
The Hop on Hop off bus is a great way to see all the historical blocks of Philadelphia. Narration included. Weather can always be an issue which happened to be our case. We were only in Philly for a couple of days and weather not in our favor, we unfortunately were not able to take advantage of the many free admission places available. The bus will stop by all those locations. We'll do the bus tour again in the future. Good Lord willing and the creek don't rise, we hope to be able to get off the bus and tour some of the historical sites.
The tickets to events worked fine. Except the website isn't up to date and the ferry isn't part of the tickets anymore. The app is horrible, it tells you the wrong location to meet the bus and customer support isn't very helpful. Busses were very late picking up from the locations and you would have to call to try and find where they were. If you buy a 5 day pass the bus is only for one day. Not like other cities I've uses the passes in. Will use public transportation next time instead.
Loved the tour, the Art Museum and the Revolutionary War museum
This is the second time I have used Gocity passes for a city that our family visited. I love how easy it is to use. We purchased the 5 day all inclusive pass and we were able to visit several of the attractions. The only thing I would change would be to not have to use the pass on 5 consecutive days. There were days that had inclement weather and we were not able to do some of the things we wanted to.
Fast and easy to use! Was able to do everything we wanted.
Great experience! Easy booking. Easy onboarding the buses. Easy navigating the city and choosing which stops we wanted. Easy entrance to attractions/museums/tours we were interested in!
Great deal. Lots of activities. Just remember that you can only redeem once. Including the transportation 😀. But worth it overall for multi days. I will buy again anytime.
worth the savings in admissions as long as you research in advance which activities you plan to redeem
This is a bad deal you only get 1 day in the bus with multiple day tickets. You have to pay for transportation to get to the sites many of the sites are no charge to begin with. The bus schedule is poor when you get to the end of the line there is not another bus for 30 minutes . If it is a rainy day you have to ride downstairs which was packed the tour guide broke the microphone had a meltdown and ended up giving a very sketchy tour. We got exactly zero return on our very expensive tour. The liberty bell is free, the Betsy Ross home is free , you needed reservations to see constitution hall which is free , liberty hall free, etc. So for over $100 pp we got little yes a couple of the museums charge but we could have paid for those and saved a lot of money. The bus people we spoke with on the 2nd day when we discovered our tickets were only good for 1 day said they get a lot of complaints about how unclear it is when you purchase a multi day ticket that the bus transportation is not included. Viator your customer deserve better .
There was so much to choose from. Plan your day ahead of time. Some things required reservations and some were closed on certain days. So dobyour homework before you get here. We're 68 and 70 and we're a bit optimistic on what we could do in 1 day.
This was an excellent purchase. My son and I were able to visit the Adventure Aquarium, the battleship next door, Legoland and Longwood Gardens for less than the cost of visiting the aquarium alone. What a great deal; highly recommend!
The Go City Pass is easy to use and very affordable. It is great to be able to use our pass and visit different locations. There are so many places to visit in Philadelphia and it takes the worry out about picking the best ones because they were all included. We had a 3 day pass. On Day 1 we started at Betsy Ross House, Took a Revolution and Founding Fathers Tour, picked up our Solve A Mystery: The Kidnapping by Independence Hall adventure then finished the night with Dark Philly Adult Night Tour. Day 2 included the Big Bus Hop On Hop Off Pass, a tour of Eastern State Penitentiary, Independence Seaport Museum, and National Liberty Museum. On Day 3 we started at the National Constitution Center, picked up our Phlash Bus pass and went to Philadelphia Museum of Art. (We could have spent a lot more time at the Museum of Art but had to leave to catch our flight home. But, because we had a Go City Pass we were able enter and at least see a portion of the exhibits. The pass allows you to visit an attraction and not feel you have to stay long enough to get the value of the typical admission price.)
We loved our Go City pass. We knew which activities we wanted to visit and so after doing the math we determined this was a great value for us. The pass was super easy to use as well.
I bought the two-day pass, a great value. Most Philadelphia attractions cost $25-$30 per person. On the first day, I went to Franklin Institute, Barnes Foundation, Rodin Museum, Art Museum, and Eastern State Penitentiary. On the second day, I went to Betsy Ross House, Christchurch Burial Grounds, National Liberty Museum, Museum of the American Revolution, and went on the Revolutionary & Founding Fathers Tour and the Ghost Tour!
Very smooth and easy transactions.
When we first arrived to Hop on Hop off stop where there was a staff member waiting to scan tickets, who was very clueless as to the different attractions that I was mentioning that were part of the package. Then he stated that the last stop for the tour would end at 4pm. But when we hopped on a different hop on hop off bus during our tour that tour guide stated that every bus had a different ending time for the day depending on when that bus started their first tour in the morning. So we had to replan our entire day and we missed out on a lot of attractions that we really wanted to do. So some buses last stop of the day were 4pm, 4:30pm, 5pm,5:30pm. If I had know this was the case I would have kept my original plans. We were very upset. Then some museums are not open during the weekdays and only open on weekends. The attractions we did attend were amazing. Also, some attractions that are included in the package the tour bus does not go to because they are very far away or prepare to use a ferry for the aquarium. If it’s a rainy day you are not allowed to use umbrellas on the open top level of the bus, so be prepared to stay dry with other methods. The good thing about the tour bus is that you can get off and hop on on any attraction/ museum and calculate when the next bus will arrive since they come every 30 minutes.
Good traveling Good food Good service Nice attraction Guide and maps are useful. If please add parking to package with discount
Great value! Really enjoyed having so many great options. Worth it!
we went to longwood garden, museum of art, franklin institute, eastern state prison and penn state museum with no problem of the pass for 2 days. It saves us around at least $20 per person if buying tickets at the gate.
the go city pass for me and my partner was so amazing and came in clutch! We went to Philly for our anniversary and we were able to explore the city’s history with this pass and also have the best experiences / create memories that’ll last a lifetime. We highly recommend if you’re traveling !!
The big bus pass was super fun- we hopped on and off a few times and still ended up walking all over too - it’s a super walkable city so a combination of the bus option plus meandering wherever we wanted was perfect!
Pass was easy to use. Downloaded the app, this shows which activities you have to pre book. Emailed one company without any problems. Did more than we planned having bought a 2 day pass
A great pass to see many attractions and save money! We got the one day pass and were able to do/see about five attractions.
The purchase of the multi day all inclusive is very deceiving. You only get the tour bus for one day and if you want to get the value out of it, you’re gonna have to cram your days full.
I tried to squeeze as much as possible into one trip. We had a 3 day pass and did so much. Most things close at 5pm though. Otherworld and the Ghost tour are late night things you can do. We used the PHLASH bus the one day ti get around and then the hop on hop off tour bus the next day to get around. Most things are in walking distance anyway. Philadelphia has so much to offer and the city go pass helped us experience so much!
No one scanned ticket getting on bus, did not disclose transport by ferry was needed to aquarium. Purchased all inclusive pass Do not use!
We did the aquarium, zoo, and penitentiary in one day. There were zero issues with walking in and not having to wait. All activities were fantastic. Great value for the money!
This is a great way to get around town and go to many attractions! We loved the Big B Bus and the Phlash.
We use these on a trip for my daughter's trip for her 16th birthday!! It was such a blessing and help. The money we saved allowed us to do other things that we spontaneously came across!!
We used the go city app while on our trip in the US. We used it in New York, philadelphia, New Orleans and San Francisco. There was at least 30 attractions on offer with the go city app. We went to meseums, zoos , cooking classes, river cruises , 911 memorial museum and many more. We worked out we would buy a two day pass which gives us enough time to experience the local attractions and we had free burger and fries in New Orleans. I would say we got more than money worth with the go city pass.
We bought the 1 Day All-Inclusive Pass for eight people. The pass is great and includes lots of entries into museums and sites, and some tours. We took a walking tour and rode the double decker bus through the city to see all we could. We loved the walking tour and the bus ride - highly suggest these. Our one issue was that we weren't allowed to book a ghost tour because we had 8 people who would be using the All-Inclusive Pass. I was told that booking 8 people is too many and they would be losing money for the tour. While I understand this from a business perspective, I don't from a consumer perspective. If I had been told there is a person limit for tours somewhere in the literature before or during the purchase I would have reconsidered. It's still a great deal regardless of not being able to go on the ghost tour - just buyer beware if you are bringing a group - All-Inclusive passes are not all-inclusive.
This was so easy to do. I will be doing this at any city I go to and it's available! There never was any issue either with the tickets! Loved it!
The pass is very convenient and easy to use. It pretty much covers all the major attractions (at least in Phili). The bus is extremely helpful, saving the terror of driving inside the city. I will definitely check it out first next time when I plan to go somewhere.
Go City Pass was super convenient and sucha good value. We were able to go to 10 different places over two days that would have cost us way more to purchase individually.
The GoCity Pass gave my friend and me an amazing adventure in Philadelphia. It provided access to numerous attractions at a great value, and the reservation process was simple and hassle-free.
It was a great way to save money on our short trip to Philadelphia. We used the Hop on/off bus and a couple of museums and it was a fun and easy way to see the city and its sites.
Great pass to use. Could do everything we wanted at a great price and easy to use. Was able to visit a lot of places. Worth every penny.
Great range of things to do. Some needed booking so be organised. Hop on hop off driver was a bit rude but otherwise had no bad experience.
Saved us a lot of money! The only confusion was with the Big Bus Tour - the bus pass can only be redeemed for one day, even if you buy a multiday pass, so plan accordingly!
Loved the ability to visit a handful of places and not feel like we had to stay all day at one place. Great value and perfect way to see all the sights in short amount of time! Will definitely get the GoCity pass when it is available.
The pass is worth the $$ BUT, read the fine print! It makes it seem that the bus pass is good for every day. No only one day. You also need to buy the pass for several days because it takes a long time to get from place to place, so you can see maybe three attractions a day.
The price was amazing for what we did. We bought passes for my whole family and my mother whom we were visiting. It gave us alot of options and something different to do each day. Plus we saved alot of money
Bought a 3 day pass for me and my husband. Could only use the Big Bus for one day. Had to get Phlash bus tickets for the second day. And told I could get any bus passes fir the 3rd day. Also had to pay all admissions. Better to do it on your own day by day. the 2nd
The guides were great and informative. It was pretty disappointing that they didn't stop by the ferry. So we didn't get To Do the ferry or the battleship.. I can't remember the reason they gave but it was disappointing..
