Great tour guide. We had a small group of 4 and were able to see everything and ask questions. The garden was amazing, sensory overload. Great way to walk south philly.

Your guide will lead you past an array of locally-owned art galleries and shops, pointing out decorative facades and giving you fascinating morsels of history along the way
This community-based art organization has been a staple in this neighborhood since the 1930’s. Today it supports local artists in the LGBTQ and BIPOC communities by offering exhibit space and grant funding. Guests can view its current exhibits while learning about its past efforts and future goals. Proceeds of your ticket will be donated to DVAA
Throughout your tour, you'll weave in and out of the streets and alleys of Bella Vista, the neighborhood surrounding the Italian Market and Magic Gardens. Here, you'll see how Philadelphia's first suburb has changed in the last 200+ years, including beautiful homes, gardens, and public art.
Queen Village is a charming neighborhood in Philadelphia known for its historic charm, cobblestone streets, and quaint atmosphere. Located just south of Center City, it offers a mix of historic row houses, trendy shops, cozy cafes, and vibrant community parks, making it a beloved destination for locals and visitors alike.
Zagar’s masterpiece, a once-barren abandoned lot on South Street transformed it into a mind-bending labyrinth of glass, tile, paint and almost everything else under the sun. This is something that must be seen to be believed, and you will be granted free admission into the Gardens at the end of this tour.

This was a very informative and interesting walking tour. Andrea, our guide, was very knowledgeable about the city history, neighborhoods, the various outdoor art exhibits and murals and wove fun anecdotes into our tour. We highly recommend this walking tour, and definitely wear walking shoes!
Tate provided great insight into the art of Isaiah Zagar and its impact on the Philadelphia communities.
Tate was very enthusiastic about the art he was showing us. It was fun to see the creativity of the murals and mosaics.
It was a good walking tour but in this neighborhood there were too much music art from zagar and we saw mane 5 other pieces of wall art without to much narratives. We join tours around the world on wall art to gain some perspective of the “conversation” that matters. But this tour seems to focus all in Z. Not a bad tour just not quite the expectation.
I booked this tour as part of celebrating my birthday, and it ended up being one of the highlights of my trip. Our guide, Gigi, was wonderful. I loved walking through South Philadelphia learning about the murals, neighborhood history, and especially Isaiah Zagar. I’m not normally a huge mosaic fan, but learning about his work and then ending at Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens gave me a completely different appreciation for it. I also appreciated that the tour included local and Black history, including stories connected to William Still and the Underground Railroad. It was much more than just looking at art. Gigi was knowledgeable, personable, and engaging. If you enjoy public art, local history, and exploring beyond the usual tourist attractions, I highly recommend this tour.
For mural admirers, this is a must see. It’s an excellent experience & our guide was very knowledgeable & also an arts admirer that made her time with us a genuine effort. Beyond my expectations.
Easy walk and great spots to choose to narrate. Our tour guide knew so much about Philly and south street and the artists it was enjoyable to hear it all.
A wonderful tour of fabulous street art in the neighborhoods around South Street. The tour mostly focuses on the elaborate and prolific mosaics by artist Isaiah Zagar, but you also see many painted murals along the route. Our tour guide,Tate, is not only knowledgeable about the art and the artists, but he knows the neighborhoods so well that he greets the residents on the streets by name. Truly, you get the local insider’s perspective. The tour ends at the entrance to Magic Gardens. Be sure to dedicate some time inside to appreciate the magnitude of Zagar’s immersive mosaic constructions.
Packed full of tidbits about the neighborhoods as well as the artists. You do walk for the two hours with only a small “sit down” break. Tate our guide was excellent!
Heather was a knowledgeable, energetic and wonderful guide to the murals of South Philly. She took us to both hidden spots and public spaces to view and learn about each mural. Her stories about the muralists and how the murals connect to South Philly's history and culture was really interesting. I feel like I have more of an insider's view of the city's murals. I highly recommend this tour.
I enjoyed the tour, and Tate was a great guide. I knew nothing of Isaiah Zagar before the tour, but am marveled at the artistic impact one person can have in literally shaping how their community looks. Meeting people that knew the artist added a personal touch to the tour. I really enjoyed the tour as it highlighted a vibrant community and art scene.
Took the Philly art mural tour on a beautiful Saturday afternoon with guide, Tate. He was great- personable, knowledgeable, funny. He engaged with locals in the neighborhood which gave a fun insight to the Philly vibe and artist he was discussing. Would highly recommend booking this tour with Tate.
She shows you unique interesting mosaics and murals that you may never see without this tour. She gives a rich history and first hand knowledge as a Philadelphia resident who spent time in the area at its heyday
Had a tour with Carla and she was fantastic. Very personable and knowledgeable. I would definitely book again on my next trip to Philly! Thank you again! :)
Gigi was amazing and we learned so much! Great way to experience the rich arts culture of Philly.
It was interesting but it lasted too long. By the time we got to the magic garden, it was 4:00 and most people were tired from all the walking and stops. It needs to be a more concise schedule. We did not just stop at all those stores. It should be 2 hours with sufficient time at the magic garden.
Great tour. Amazing mosaics and learning about the artist from the Magic Gardens was fascinating. Excellent, experienced, and very interesting guide! I have already highly recommended this tour to others.
Tom was a great tour guide. Although I have been a resident of Pennsylvania for many years I learned so many fun details about the historical history of Philadelphia. Highly recommend him and this tour.
We were a group of 6 (4 adults, 1 teen and 1 child age 6). We had a wonderful time. Heather our tour guide was very knowledgeable and showed us really cool places we would have not other wise seen or even known about. The length and distance was totally fine for the adults/teen but was a little rough towards the end for the 6 year old until we got to the Magic Garden which is a definite must see. Overall great experience.
The trip was really informative. There was a lot of walking just FYI. saw a lot of the city. Our guide, Tate was very knowledgeable of the city and all of the murals highly recommend.
Highly recommended! A fantastic combination of art, story telling and Philly spirit. The murals, art and neighborhood were all so interesting. Our guide was just wonderful. His passion for the city was contagious and we learned a lot on the murals and their history.
This tour focuses on the fabulous and indescribable work of Isiah Zagar as well as some of the murals created by Philadelphia's Mural Arts program. Our guide was enthusiastic and knowledgeable and we poked into lots of different corners and alleys on and around South Street. If you like street art and/or gigantic mosaic murals, this tour is for you.
This was a great tour of not just street art (which was very cool - and surprising how many mosaics we saw) but also history with a focus on black history. Seeing William Still’s home was very moving. Our tour guide, Gigi, was very knowledgeable and also flexible and attentive to our needs. Highly recommend!
I found the tour guide hard to understand. Enjoyed seeing the mosaic art but found that there were not many morals to see on the tour.
One of the best tours ever in this or other countries. Tate is an excellent Guide.
The tour was very interesting and Chuck was an excellent guide!
What a great experience! Wonderful art, and the guide knows the neighborhoods well and is a superb storyteller. Highly enjoyable!
I truly could not recommend this tour enough! We were lucky enough to have Tate as our tour guide, and he made the experience truly wonderful. His depth of knowledge, engaging storytelling, and passion for the local artists and community made this unforgettable! As an art enthusiast, I have taken tours all around the world, and this one truly stands out as one of, if not, the best I've ever been on. Whether you're a Philly local or visiting our great city, you will not be dissapointed on this tour!
Excellent tour of South Street and the sorrounding areas. Chuck was an excellent guide. Knows the area and people really well. Showed us good art - mosaics and murals, and had good stories. Really enjoyed.
Our tour guide was very sweet and kind, but it was a bit hard to hear them. If you are hard of hearing, this tour may be tough for you. The focus was mostly on one artist who has a lot of mosaics around the city, the same artist who created the Magic Gardens. I would say this tour is nice if you have never been to Philly before and would like to see different neighborhoods. I would also suggest asking a lot of questions! I may have found the tour more engaging if I had asked for more specifics.
My friend and I loved the tour. Carli was a great guide and teacher. It was “Magical” Plan on doing this again!
Fun and great experience, lots of great info on the area and the history of the incredible murals and art
Carla was a great tour guide. We learned a lot about the history of the south street art scene!
Our guide Chuck was great! Amazing information on art and city history! Prepare to walk and dress comfortably for the weather, amazing tour and recommendations for things to do around Philly
This tour was great!! The guide, Chuck, was very informative and brought a great energy to the experience. He provided great information about the area apart from just the art (including the low-down on cheesesteaks). The distance walked was not very far, probably a little over a mile but with stops in a few shops. The tour took about 2.5 hours to reach the final stop of the Magic Gardens themselves, which you are given the opportunity to explore alone after the tour concludes. The art was beautiful and greatly enhanced by the stories told alongside it. Thank you so much, Chuck!
Beautiful way to see amazing art and learn so much about the culture and history of Philly! My guide Chuck was amazingly personable, knowledgeable and also offered great recommendations for the rest of my trip! 10/10 would recommend. Walking tour but very well paced and leisurely!!!
The murals were gorgeous and the history behind them was captivating. Our tour guide, Chuck, went the extra mile showing us every artwork along South Street and telling us the stories of the city. He provided a truly unique and enjoyable experience, his commitment and passion bled through into the tour making it more enjoyable. The Magic Gardens was a fun artistic maze environment to walk through and the gallery showcasing local artists felt like a highlight
Our tour guide was fabulous, mixing art and history within that lovely neighborhood. He was extremely knowledgeable and fun!
Tate is the perfect guide::knowledgeable and a warm hearted person. The murals are an outdoor art treasure!
We had such a great time on this tour. Tate was an amazing guide—knowledgeable, engaging, and clearly passionate about Philly’s art scene. The mix of murals, neighborhood history, and the Magic Gardens was perfect, and he pointed out so many details we would’ve missed on our own. Highly recommend!
I would not recommend this tour. The 5 star reviews is why I booked it. The tour should be titled the Isaiah Zagar tour. There was very little else offered on the 2 hour walking tour aside from Zagar mosaics. There were a couple of painted murals sprinkled in but it was definitely not the focus. The tour started off with visits to (2) stores for shopping. I found this odd and honestly a waste of time. I can explore shops on my own for free. Then it was offered to go to a thrift store part way through the tour, again this is odd. I don't really like to leave bad reviews but I do think people should know the truth about what is offered on this tour. By the time you get to the Magic Garden you have seen so many similar pieces by Zagar that you really just want to leave. I wish I hadn't booked this tour and just visited the magic garden on my own. There was also very little information given as far as the murals and their history. It was mostly about Zagar and his life (but even that was limited). I take tours to get the inside knowledge and expand my understanding of a particular topic, unfortunately this tour missed the mark on that one. There are some really cool large scale murals in the city centre that are super cool that I would definitely check out if you are interested in seeing murals. The murals on the south side of town shown during the tour left a lot to be desired.
Very interesting tour of the murals and other art in the south 7th street neighborhood….. plus a free Magic Garden museum visit afterwards. Great time
I learned a lot about Isaiah Zagar and the art scene in South Philly. The Magic Gardens was a great spot to end the tour. Chuck was an amazing guide with a wealth of knowledge. I would recommend this tour!
Really great for a date night or a family excursion. Chuck was detailed and friend he took us to see all of the local art, murals, and shops he was kind enough to lets us take a second to grab a bite to eat and re-join the group it turned out to be an amazing day.
Chuck was knowledgeable and fun to listen to.
Nina was a fabulous person to be with on my tour of the murals in Philadelphia. I learned so much about the art work here and this journey of one man in particular, the creator of the Magic Gardens!
It’s so incredibly cool. Pictures do not do it justice
Tour fantastic. Dale amazing. Nice group. Beautiful day. Learned a lot about artists and neighborhood. Highly recommend for locals and vistors. Finale at Magic Gardens wonderful treat to an already wonderful afternoon.
We had a wonderful tour that was really informative, beautiful and interesting. It was the perfect amount of time and the weather cooperated which was very nice as well. Highly recommend.
