This is a very interesting museum. Tha opportunity to see Washington’s tent really added to the experience. The museum is definitely worth making a part of a Philly trip.

Audio guide a bit hard to use with hearing aides.
Allow yourself plenty of time because there are so many interesting things to see and read while you visit the museum. It’s very interesting if you like learning about history.
The museum is very nice and interesting. American history at your fingertips. The audio tour is ok but prompts were less than I expected. I finally just read my way through.
So much to see- especially loved the figure in traditional dress and life size.
Thorough walk through of events leading up to and throughout the revolution. Allow plenty of time and ask upon check in what times Washington's tentbis displayed. Fascinating to me as an adult interested in history, but kids might be bored outside of the kid oriented section.
The museum was bright and spacious. Plenty of placing to sit down. Quite a number of films and guides.
WOW! So much history and information! Wonderful museum, fabulous exhibits, very nicely curated. Staff was quite pleasant and helpful.
Great learning experience. Quality museum.
Museum was very good. We decided on the audio and it allowed us to take our time, which you need as there is so much information. It took us 3 hours. Would recommend.
Incredible value for the money. Highly recommend timing your visit here with Independence Hall down the street! Going here first was a perfect complement to that. Thank you for this museum experience!
Exceeded our expectations. The exhibit demonstrated the impact of the Revolution on the colonies and the rest of the world, as well the impact on Native Americans and black people who worked for a good resolution for their cause. Bipartisan and realistic. Excellent layout of each topic.
Wonderful museum telling the story of the American Revolution including events that led up to the war and the important battles that took place ultimately ending with the United States winning its independence from Britain. Well organized and includes historic artifacts, interactive exhibits, and audio-visual displays. The highlight is the presentation of Washington's War Tent that is displayed in a theater setting. The audio guide is excellent. Well worth the $27 price of admission. Not very busy on the Sunday afternoon in November that I visited. I spent 2 hours inside which is the minimum needed and wished I could have stayed longer.
We did the self-guided audio tour. That was wonderful as we went at our own pace. The museum is beautiful and well organized. Easy to follow along with the audio.
Do not miss this incredible experience, especially as our country celebrates its 250th birthday! This exhibit is very well-done and historically shows what the colonies went through before, during, and after the American Revolution. Do not miss this if you're in NOLA!
This was a better museum than the one in Yorktown, VA.
Amazing artifacts that are new to the museum, but are very old. The museum is able to acquire new artifacts, that have to do with the American Revolution, that have been recently discovered from anywhere in the world. If you like that part of history, then you will love this museum. It covers so many different dimensions of that time period. And it’s done very well. They also have the actual tent that George Washington used as his field office throughout the war. If that doesn’t give you goosebumps, then I don’t know what will.
Great museum which excellent exhibit - we got to see Washington’s Tent exhibit which was a highlight.
The museum is well put together with fantastic exhibits and is beautiful! The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful.
Make time for this well done, thorough, artistic presentation of the Revolution. Excellent pacing of information. Thoughtfully done. And the cafe has reasonable prices.
Very detailed exhibits, it takes a while to get through. It is well worth it. Great education for middle school students.
Great experience for anyone interested in an in depth experience on the revolutionary war. Prepare to spend at least a day. We arrived at 11 and stayed until 6 and still didn't see everything.
Thoroughly enjoyed the tour. The guide was very knowledgeable. Although I think your site should make it more clear you will probably not get to go inside Any of mentioned buildings along the route. We could have made earlier arrangements to tour some of these buildings on our own.
If you are going to Philadelphia and are interested in the historical aspects of US Independence, you should not miss spending time in the Museum of the American Revolution. While the collection of items that date back to the times of the Declaration is interesting, the best part of the museum are the educational displays, videos and posterboards that present an overall view of the times and individuals key in the independence movement. If you are not on a docent led tour, taking advantage of the audio tour is a must to get the most from the museum. Don't miss the "Washington's tent" presentation. Great for kids of all ages.
Incredible museum with so much fascinating history. We enjoyed it thoroughly. Leave yourselves at least 2 hours to get through everything if not more time.
It was excellent. Give yourself 2 - 3 hours to enjoy the museum. Lots to see and learn. Everyone was helpful and courteous.
I took the audio tour of the museum, expecting I would leave quickly. I became engrossed in the audio tour, which made me examine the figures, artifacts, and stories closely. In the current climate, the National Park Service is forced to remove “unpatriotic” Revolutionary War accounts. I appreciate that the museum pointedly showed the experiences of varied groups of Americans. I also liked the exhibit of how the War, Declaration of Independence and Constitution impacted many nations through history.
An excellently curated visit to the past. The exhibits are wonderful interesting short films , I would recommend this to young or old. I perfect immersive experience for the family.
Audio tour was very helpful. Give yourself at least two hours. I loved this museum. So much information.
There's alot to read in the museum. We were there almost 2 hours, but didn't read it all. We want to go back. Very informative about the revolution.
We were hoping for more. We are lovers of history and thought this museum should have brought out more. I bought the audio guide and unlike other audio guides it did not add anything more than what I could read on my own. Perhaps instead of the CEO being the audio guide voice maybe another historian could add to exhibits. We felt the exhibits needed more information and maps to explain the historical significance of breaking away from England. The tent that is Washington’s tent could be fleshed out more to explain what Washington used the tent more rather than who donated it. The staff were nice and friendly, with good suggestions.
Expect large groups of school age children, even in summer. Bring a light layer because it can be cold.
Very noisy with school groups. But great to see so many kids. Audio guide ran out of battery charge. Otherwise excellent display and historical rendition. Recommend!
Set aside some time. This is an amazing story of our founding. The displays are so well designed....following the beginnings through the hardships..and ultimately through to our wonderful country. Loved the focus on the unique people.
A thorough and well thought out museum enhanced by artifacts and very well done multimedia. Tastefully handled complex issues regarding the Native Americans and slaves during revolutionary times. We brought our 15, 17 and 19 year old and they were all engaged throughout. The video at the start provides a great and inspiring overview of the Revolution. We also loved the multimedia presentation with George Washington's War tent. Can't recommend this museum enough!
The museum is well done and well worth a visit. We only had an afternoon and didn’t see everything we wanted. If you are a museum type person, give it a 6 hours. The video presentations take a couple of hours alone.
An excellent museum. One could spend many hours here.
This is a great place. Many great displays. Presentation is well balanced and presents the war from many perspectives: the British, the Americans, native Americans, slaves, women. Many artifacts including Washington’s actual tent. Guides are knowledgeable. All videos have text too. Allow several hours. There are benches and elevators as there are several floors.
Plan for at least two hours or come back next day (for free). Wonderfully done presentations. Lots to learn.
A beautifully done museum. The audio option was good and gave you time to explore on your own. I appreciated the unbiased presentation of the historical facts. Well worth the money of $27. Allow at least 2 hours more if you can.
Fantastic! Give yourself plenty of time. Takes awhile to see everything. We didn’t get to see it all. Ran out of time
This was an unexpected excellent experience. We spent about 3 hours touring this museum. They had loads of things to see and even touch. The exhibits showed Washington's actual tent. It explained the battles fought. Explained the native American Indians part in the Revolutionary War. The only bad experience was with school age children who were brought in to see this museum by their schools. They were loud and it became impossible to hear the audio portion. I believe that, since we are celebrating the 250th birthday of the USA, this will happen a lot. An aside: About a block away, there is another historic house to see which was the first meeting place of Congress. This whole area where the museum sits is chock full of history. A few blocks away is the convention hall.
Highly recommend that you take time to visit the Museum of the American Revolution. Our walk through the museum Saturday morning included the self-guided audio tour (recommended). Our enjoyable visit took approximately 90 minutes.
Take your time and soak it in. Grab all the video presentations and view General Washington's actual command post tent.
We stopped here in about the mid afternoon and we were kind of expecting there to not be a whole lot going on. We were pleasantly surprised. We had a great time even with getting there close to when they were closing. We can’t wait to go back.
Very well done. We loved the George Washington tent exhibit and wish there were more interactive exhibits. Overall a good experience that we would recommend.
Great introduction to the American Revolutionary War for our 6 year-old yet detailed enough for Grandpa.
Okay museum. It’s trying to share history through a modern, contemporary social themes lens. So, visitors looking for a traditional history museum centered on events, dates, and military or political details may want to keep this in mind when considering to visit.
We really liked the authentic artifacts. It was also nice to walk around and sit and watch engaging, short films on the history.
Great place to explore the American revolution and revolution for freedom worldwide and various peoples
