Great tour. Our tour guide Mike was very knowledgeable and gave us a great overview of the history and culture in Lancaster.Nice beer stops and overall we had a great time and enjoyed the tour.
The tour guide was very knowledgeable and enlightening. Made me look at the city on a different light. Would definitely recommend.
Outstanding tour. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We have a new appreciation of Lancaster City and all it has to offer. Highly recommended.
This was a wonderful experience. We weren't aware of how much history happened in Lancaster. It's such a small town to have this much history. The city is easily walkable. The "inside stories" are what make it even more special. We will do again and bring friends next time.
I was born and raised in Lancaster Pa, however I was never educated on the historical richness of my hometown. Mike our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and made tour very interactive, informative and fun. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone, it definitely aroused my desire to learn more about our little city.
What a fantastic and informative tour. Mike’s knowledge and fun delivery of the history of Lancaster was a blast! The tour was well paced and let’s not forget the Beer! Great beers to end the day. Highly recommended!
Very in depth history of Lancaster and United States history. The tour through Lancaster is first and then near the end there are a couple stops at breweries. But it is a good idea to have a clear mind while on this tour because there are many interesting facts you will want to try and remember! If you like details and beer, this is the tour for you!
My husband, myself, and one other couple went on this informative walk around Lancaster with Mike, our guide. Mike is very knowledgeable and relayed the history of Lancaster in a light but detailed way. We were attentive and really liked the little anecdotes about the past. The two stops for beer were refreshing and fun. This was an excellent experience.
We totally enjoyed our walking tour of downtown Lancaster. Mike, our guide, was extremely knowledgeable about the history and architecture of the city. We found the pace to be very comfortable for our group of seniors. The cold beers at the end of the tour really hit the spot. This was a last minute booking for us as our other plans had fallen through, but we ended up being happy to have made this our activity for the afternoon. Highly recommend.
Mike was very knowledgeable and made the tour fun. I was surprised there was so much history in Lancaster. Mike answered all of our questions and even pointed out interesting things about the architecture. The beer was good too!
Great time! Engaging interesting stories and learned lot about a city we have spent years in and never knew. Highly recommend any visitor and locals!
This was a great walking tour of downtown Lancaster with an added bonus of a couple of beers towards the end. Our guide was interesting and knowledgeable about the history of downtown Lancaster. The tour was easy to hear due to an earpiece provided and the level of walking was modest so manageable even on a very hot day. Definitely recommend!
Mike was extremely knowledgeable and shared a lot of interesting history information with us. We were a little disappointed because we only had 2 beer stops at the end of the tour. Our past experience with beer tours have included multiple stops throughout the tour. Overall we did enjoy the tour.
Mike is a font of information! We enjoyed learning about Lancaster including how to properly pronounce it! The beer was tasty. Would recommend the tour!
Mike shared his wealth of knowledge and life experiences in a relaxed manner. He was extremely flexible to the needs of our group. He patiently waited for us in the rain as we were late arriving from the food tour with Kendra. He accommodated us, kept us comfortable, dry and warm on an extremely stormy day! Can’t wait to plan another road trip to Lancaster to see, learn and enjoy all Lancaster has to offer, Thanks Mike, for a great afternoon!
Mike, our guide was very knowledgeable and professional, a very eye-opening tour. He even gave us tips on where to eat.
Interesting facts and good beer. Also am now aware of more good places to go in Lancaster to eat and drink
What an incredible walking tour! This was our first time visiting Lancaster and we were so glad we did this tour. Our tour guide, Michael was excellent. He was very knowledgeable with the history and architecture of Lancaster. The craft breweries were very good too!!
Mike shared his wealth of knowledge about the history of Lancaster with us in a way that made it come to life for us. We thoroughly enjoyed his presentation and the choice of locations included on the tour. The craft beer is a nice way to end the tour. We highly recommend Mike and the tour to anyone interested in the history of Lancaster. Thank you Mike!
Tour was awesome and the tour guide Mike was awesome, enjoyed getting to know him and everyone along the way! History was very interesting and beer was great!
Our guide was so knowledgeable about Lancaster, it’s rich history related to the founding of our nation and promotion/preservation of our basic freedoms. We were educated on Lancaster and its role during the early days of our nation, educated us on Ben Franklin and his business and political activities in Lancaster in support of the birth of democracy, as well as other notable citizens. The discussion of Lancaster as a major destiny due to its prominence in support of The Underground Railroad and Thaddeus Stevens and other prominent citizens during this crucial time in our history, all very enlightening. He discussed the successes and complex shortcomings of one of its most notable citizens, President Buchanan. We learned of ingenuity in commerce with its unique method of skirting the law during Prohibition. This is not an Amish tour but rather a light and easy walking tour where our knowledge and appreciation of Lancaster and its important role on American history was expanded. The craft beer tour part provided a lesson on American ingenuity and two stops for a casual beverage sampling.
Mike was excellent. Discover things about Lancaster and PA that I would have never known if I didn’t take his walking tour.
Had a great time wandering the city of Lancaster. Never knew there was so much history in a city I never even knew was in Amish Country! Our guide Mike was awesome and knew so much. You do need to listen to the history before getting your first beer, but it was worth the wait! Great technology as well, we were given and earpiece to make sure we heard every word as we walked through the city.
Good time and good beer fun your regardless if you like history or not and mike was great and very informative
Beautiful tour with a very knowledgeable guide. I would recommend for anybody, whether or not you are a history buff.
Mike is a phenomenal tour guide. I learned so much. We had a wonderful time and will be recommending this tour to others.
This tour was amazing. It ended up being just my fiancé and I, but we had such a great time learning about the history of Lancaster. Our guide was very knowledgeable about Lancaster and answered all our questions in depth. The breweries that we visited were great & had a great selection! We would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who is interested in the history of Lancaster, as well has the impact of prohibition here.
We enjoyed our tour of the city of Lancaster with Mike as our guide. His thorough knowledge of dates and events was amazing. Our last stop at an establishment with ties to a brewery which secretly operated during Prohibition was especially interesting. The micro brews were great and we parted ways feeling as if we had gained a new friend.
Mike is an amazing tour guide! He’s well versed in Lancaster history. We thoroughly enjoyed walking around the city while he pointed out so many interesting historical references. The beer/beverage stops were pretty cool places to sit and have drinks. We ended up going back the next evening! We are grateful for such a wonderful experience in Lancaster. Thank you Mike!!!
My friend and I did this walking tour on a beautiful Saturday in October. Mike was a very knowledgeable guide. He knew a lot about the history of Lancaster and had great enthusiasm. The two brew pubs we frequented at the end were an added bonus and the drinks were included as well.
My two best friends and I savored the history and the beer in equal measure. Michael has a relaxed but professorial style which holds your interest throughout. He is justifiably proud of the efforts made by so many to restore and preserve the history of his home town. The tour route is well conceived and consistently interesting. There is so much more to Lancaster than The Amish (which are never mentioned). Highly organized, Michael came equipped with extra umbrellas (which we needed). But for his being from the blue side of the Dickinson vs. F&M rivalry - he was perfect. Our tour of Lancaster was the highlight of the weekend. Learned the origin of “stogie” and the ingenious means by which Lancaster’s brewers circumvented the Volstead Act. Thanks to A.J. for loaning us her husband.
Mike was extremely knowledgeable about the area and taught us a lot about the history of Lancaster. He was even able to help us with some food suggestions.
We learned so much and had a great time. Mike (our guide) told interesting bits of unknown history while we walked around town and enjoyed beer! For us locals we learned so many new things about our community. Their mission to provide authentic experiences really delivers! Highly recommend!!
Mike was an excellent tour guide quite knowledgeable of local history. The craft beer was a nice touch to a pleasant afternoon, snow and all. Thank you Mike!
Learning about how Lancaster played such a big role in abolitionist history, breweries, and also its beautiful diverse architecture. Mike was a great guide. Informative, friendly & knowledgable. He “got” our group and made it a really enjoyable afternoon. Highly recommend and would take this tour again.
I bought this experience as a gift for my boyfriend’s birthday. He absolutely loved it! A great deep dive of the local history. Thanks, Mike!
Great tour. We enjoyed seeing the preserved excavation area inside the Marriott, walking through a section of old town and hearing about the history of Lancaster and the beer. Tour guide was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. We highly recommend!
The tour with Mike lived up to all the positive reviews we read on Tripadvisor. Mike adjusted his schedule to accommodate a last minute conflict we had. He is enjoyable to be with, has lots of Lancaster stories and obviously loves the area. He also shared a number of recommendations of other things to do. It was our first visit to Lancaster and this was a great way to begin. We will come back! Thanks Mike for a fun afternoon!
Mike S was our guide for a little more than 2 hours. We use a lot of tours when traveling. For us it's a way of understanding what we are seeing and get a history lesson. Mike has a passion for what he does. We had a great time, learned a lot, and tasted a few beers. Ask for Mike and you won't go wrong. There were 2 couples so nice size.
It was great! Mike was very knowledgeable! We enjoyed learning about all the history of the city. Lots of fun and beer was great too!
This was a great walking tour to understand the history of Lancaster. I would highly recommend it if you’re interested in how the city began and became what it is today. We also stopped at two pubs with a large selection of craft beers to choose from. The beers were delicious. I would recommend this tour for anyone who’s interested in the history of Lancaster that is not just about the Amish. The tour guide also was a local and extremely knowledgeable. Everyone wore masks and were socially distance.
The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and a local. The tour provided history with a stop at 2 pubs. The pubs had a great selection of craft beer. The history we learned was interesting and informative. I would recommend the tour. It is about 1 and a half hours of walking, with 2 stops in pubs. You will learn about Lancaster, its history and its relationship with breweries.
Super fun event to see basically ALL of downtown Lancaster and learn about the vast history of the city! Ended the tour with beers (and obligatory food) at two spots that were on my Lancaster visit-list. Mike knows his stuff and it's clear he really loves his city!
We had our own little private tour with Mike. He was amazing and so full of knowledge. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to know more about the city of Lancaster. The beer was good too!
This was an excellent tour. Mike was so knowledgeable and friendly. You can tell he really loves the city.
Overall an excellent experience. This walking tour of Historic Penn Square, Lancaster was truly authentic and such a great close up look at the historic district. Mike knows this town. We stopped to visit sites and sounds; the local brewery stops were a special treat. We got lucky with Mike, truly a man who knows his history and town! Take the tour - you won't regret it!
History, beer and Mike-3 of Lancaster's many gems. Informative and entertaining-not to be missed. It is amazing how much history a small city like Lancaster has in a relatively small area, and Mike knows it all.
Mike was excellent. Gave us great information, took us to very cool historical sites and the beer stops were amazing. My hubby and I had a great time learning learning the city and drinking beer. Highly recommend Mike and company
I had so much fun on this tour. Mike was very knowledgeable about the history of Lancaster and where to find excellent craft beer. We went to two breweries and I enjoyed both of them. I would highly recommend this tour.
