If you ever have a chance to tour the Johannes Mueller House, you are in for a treat. Our tour guide was Ed, a former Social Studies Teacher, who was so very informative and even showed up in period costume. We learned all about life in the Moravian Community and Johannes Mueller’s work as a dyer. Also, we were pleasantly surprised to find out that all the tools and furnishings in the house were authentic and true to the period. Make sure you check out the mystery item hanging on the wall upstairs and see if you can guess what it is. Don’t forget to spend some time in the museum and check out the small gift shop. The museum staff were so friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this stop the next time you get to town.
Cory was a wonderful guide. I was traveling with my teenaged daughters and he really kept them engaged. He accommodated us with some ghost stories, too! The house is gorgeous and exquisitely appointed. We really enjoyed it.
We had tour guide Bob. I would recommend this tour for the history & especially to learn about the flax that Mr. Mueller worked with. It was quite fascinating. However, the tour ran twice as long as expected, so be prepared if you have other plans. We had previously taken the walking tour so knew quite a bit of the history already. Both tours are extremely affordable and worth taking.
It was a fantastic learning experience about the early Moravian people.Great View in to Early American Life.
Sheryl was our guide and she was fantastic. My husband and I were the only ones in the tour. She was very knowledgeable, personable, and entertaining. It was quite evident she enjoyed her job. Her descriptions were very detailed. I highly recommend this tour.
The guide was great. He never rushed us through a room. He had no problem answering questions. If you like history it is worth the trip. There were 3 of us on the tour, but I didn’t know them.
Wonderful experience. Ed was a knowledgeable and friendly guide. He helped with other recommendations to see and do during our visit!
Alison was a great tour guide. So knowledgeable and fun!!! Book this tor you won’t regret it. I highly recommend it.
Very informative and entertaining, the house is well restored and provides a snapshot of the life back then. Our guide was a history major and provided a lot of background information and answers to questions. I would highly recommend a visit to Lititz and the tour is a must do!
Excellent tour with a friendly and knowledgeable guide. The Lititz Historical Foundation has a friendly and welcoming vibe due to great people working there. We love history and the Museum (free of charge) is well organized and interesting. It is adjacent to the 1792 Mueller House where we had the exceptional tour. Well worth the entire experience..bringing history alive!
Sheryl was our tour guide--she was excellent-lots of information she really knew her stuff!!!
A wonderful trip into the past that is still relevant today. Knowledge staff, friendly. House and museum are amazing.
Tour was interesting and informational. Tour guide (Sheryl) was very knowledgeable, energetic, and personable. Highly recommend.
Our guide gave an excellent introduction to Moravian life. We enjoyed the tour very much, and learned a lot about history.
It is a wonderful experience. My only regret was not having enough time. They said it was 40 minutes and was closer to an hour. Which is a great thing!!
An informative and insightful look at a typical Moravian household and way of life of a skilled tradesman of the 18th-19th century. Our guide, Ed, had an in-depth knowledge of that time. Not for physically handicapped-- steep stairs to 2nd level to experience the house fully, which I would definitely not want to exclude from tour. Older children and teens would enjoy it .
We just finished our tour of the Johannes Mueller house with our wonderful guide, Sheryl. We had so much fun and learned so much about this beautiful town of Lititz.
Our guide, Bob was excellent—friendly, professional, and very knowledgeable. As a member of the local Moravian community he had personal experience in addition to a wealth of information about the origins of the town, the religious community, and the family who built and occupied the house. Very enjoyable experience and well worth the time.
Took the house tour with Allyson this morning. Learned so much about the Moravians and Lititz while viewing the house. Would highly recommend this tour! Hope you enjoy as much as we did.
We really enjoyed the tour . The guide was very knowledgeable and very delightful as well. She was dressed in 1700's costume playing the role of person back in those days. Learned a lot about the Moravian people and realized they were very caring group always watching out for each other. Learned a lot of trades and seemed very educated as well.
It was a great very informative tour. Gave an explanation of the moravians and how they settled in lititz and how they lived and very details about the home
Very knowledgeable volunteer guide. Small museum before the tour with information and artifacts related to the town's origin and transition. The house has many period pieces and the tour tells you about the residents and what life was like for them. Well worth the time.
The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and very engaging. It was fascinating to step back into time and hear how they lived and all about the town of lititz!
Our visit to the Lititz Historical Foundation was made truly exceptional thanks to our tour guide, Ed. He is an absolute wealth of knowledge and brings the history of this beautiful town to life with so much enthusiasm. Ed was incredibly engaging, attentive, and tailored the experience perfectly for my friend and me. It felt less like a standard lecture and more like a captivating conversation with a passionate local expert. If you are visiting Lititz, do not miss this tour, and definitely ask for Ed! A well-deserved 5 stars.
Tour guide knowledgeable of history and very entertaining stories that brought the house to life!
Lee Ann, our docent, gave a very interesting and detailed tour of the Johannes Mueller house. The history of the Muellers, prominent members of the Moravian church, and master craftsman known for dyeing wool, was made real through the artifacts used in their daily lives. If you like history and seeing how people lived in the 1700s, you will enjoy this tour.
The tour was very good. Tour guide had many interesting facts and did a great job.
In May, 2026, my husband and I were traveling to PA from GA and decided to stay in Lititz after reading wonderful things about this charming town. I was walking the shop lined streets on a gorgeous day, and a friendly voice said, “Hello!” Sheryl, dressed in period costume, greeted me from the porch of the museum. We sat outside, chatted, and even though it was days end, she offered to show me a few things in the museum. I learned so much in just a few minutes! I wish we had been in town longer to experience the full tour. I was also impressed that volunteers are a huge part of what keeps historic events and activities in Lititz going. Sheryl was lovely. Her energetic enthusiasm was so engaging. I highly recommend this museum. I promise, you will learn things about history you never knew- If you stop by, say hello to Sheryl for me! Angie Darnell
Great short tour providing the early history and origin of Lititz PA. Guide "Ed" was thorough, knowledgeable, and engaging. Just 5 bldgs up the street from the home of Sturgis pretzels. And a short walk to Broad St and Wilbur Chocolate's store. Free Eiber Buds to munch on and Vets they do a military discount. Many interesting shops in about 4 short blocks. Lititz Spring Park right there in the middle of town too. Plan ahead, book your short tour as a great start to your day
The tour guide and greeter at the front were both great! We had such a good time and learned so much. We loved it!!
So fun! And our tour guide was so friendly and knowledgeable! He was all dressed up for the time period too, it was so neat! highly recommend it!
Visiting the Lititz 1792 Johannes Mueller House was a delightful journey back in time, made all the more enjoyable by our guide, Cory. As a historian with a sharp wit and a great sense of humor, Cory brought the house and its history vividly to life. His deep knowledge of the house and its inhabitants, combined with his enthusiasm, painted a clear picture of what daily life was like in a small town over 200 years ago. The tour was not only informative but also engaging and entertaining—Cory's storytelling made history feel personal and accessible. A must-see for anyone interested in stepping into the past with a guide who knows how to make history both fun and fascinating. Just watch out for the very steep staircase!
The tour is very informative and interesting however the time ran over the hour that is advertised. It ended up being close to 90 minutes so be aware if you have other scheduled plans and are sticking to a tight schedule you may have conflicts.
Informative about the lifestyle of the periods during and after the initial Moravian town. Sheryl was a great guide, blended a bit of contemporary context, and was responsive to questions.
Our docent was not only knowledgeable, but she had a great sense of humor. It was a pleasure taking the tour. Twice she mentioned Moravian Sugar Cake. We bought it at Zig's bakery and cafe in Lititz. It made the day even more special.
This was a lovely little tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable and very comfortable in her role. Lots of interesting tidbits about the town and the Moravians. Highly recommend.
Our visit was great thanks in large part to our tour guide, Sheryl. The tour was incredibly informative without ever feeling overwhelming, and Sheryl struck the perfect balance between sharing rich historical detail and keeping the experience light, engaging, and fun. She managed to cover a remarkable amount of information while keeping the pace comfortable and easy to follow. What I appreciated most was that it never felt like a dry history lecture. Sheryl brought personality, humor, and storytelling to the tour, which made the history of the house and the community come alive.
Interesting tour of the area and its history. It helps in understanding the Moravian church. Lititz is a pretty town to visit.
We had a wonderful experience. The guide was very informative and I really learned a lot about the Morovians and the history of Lititz. The house and the museum are both very interesting. It’s worth checking it out.
Another hidden gem in a lovely town with its own history and culture that most people aren't familiar with. Our tour guides provided detailed information and answered questions thoroughly and knowledgeably.
Wonderful free museum in the heart of Lititz PA. Many artifacts from the Colonial Period showing what life in this town was like in the early time of our country.
Our tour of the Johannes Mueller House in Lititz PA was a great experience. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and made a point of answering everyone’s questions, adding more interesting information without hesitation. I would highly recommend this tour.
Very good tour guide. Ability to ask questions. If you have mobility issues it may not be right for you. Floors are uneven, narrow stairs to climb to see the upstairs.
Wonderful guide with a booming voice and he was so helpful. Very interesting history. My senior group had a very nice time.
Had a great tour of this house with my wife. The guide spent a great deal of time with us and showed us all the details of this house for over one hour and it was great.
Informative. Entertaining the tour guide was extremely informative entertaining and patient with the three of us (sisters). We were impressed and learned so much!
We had Robin as our guide and she did a fantastic job explaining the history of the Mueller house. It was fascinating to learn about this family and how it fitted into the time and area. This is our second tour with the Historical Foundation and it was so worth it!
Our guide was wonderful. The group was small enough that we didn't feel crowded and the added museum next door was awesome
We really enjoyed the tour of the Johannes Mueller House. The guide was well versed in the history and life style of the Moravians that were living in Lititz at that time. I now understand the importance and role of flax to those in the household. Flax can be used as food but in this case it was used as a fiber crop. Very interesting!
