It’s very informative and interesting. Having a good tour guide makes the experience that much better.

Hassle free from start to finish. Easy to use, great way of seeing the city before you plan the spots and attractions you want to visit for a longer time. We have used hop on / hop off the world over. All booked via Viator.
Must do if you want to see downtown without worrying about driving through traffic. We were only there for 1 day but it helped us see more than if we did the tour ourselves. To see many places I recommend at least 2-3 days. There is a bit of a wait time to hop on again but you can hop on either city sightseeing bus or bigbus (which cut down waiting time). Recommend bringing cash if you want to tip as some tour guide really do give their best to describe the area seen. Overall worth it for the amount.
We booked the tour in the car on the drive to the city. While walking around to find the Liberty Bell and Museum, my mother became ill and we ended up skipping the experience.
I didn’t even get on. It felt sketchy as a solo traveler. The guy working the front was sitting on his phone and clearly didn’t want to be there. I felt like i could walk to 75% of the attractions. With literally no one else going it didn’t feel like a safe solo experience. If I was in a group i would have given it a chance
Ease of use. Avoids having to deal with downtown driving and parking. Always has stops that help tour the city.
It was a wonderful introduction to Philadelphia! Everyone should do it. Then you can go back to where you want to see more.
Bring a towel to wipe down seats for early morning tour, could be wet. Guides provided paper towels so no issue. This is the way to explore the city will be back tour guides we’re cool had a good day, liked the humor in the tour. Go Birds!!!
The Big Bus and the double decker trolley share the same route. We didn't like the Big Bus. Sitting downstairs, you can hardly see anything going on outside, because of the high windows. Also, those windows have a special protection outside which makes it even harder to look out and take pictures. The trolley double decker is better equipped for taking pictures. Find yourself a good spot up top.
Great experience. Guide was super knowledgeable and made it a fun experience. Definitely would recommend to anyone going to Philly.
Great experience with knowledgeable tour guides on each bus as we got on and off. Pick up and drop off were a bit rough at times. Not an option to sit at the top on one of them and felt like we missed part of the experience as you don’t see as much from the bottom. Waited at one stop for the bus for 40 minutes. Overall a good experience.
Guide was very informative. Bus was comfortable
The staff was very helpful getting me to the right place to get tickets and board the bus. Will was very informative and gave a lot of facts about the city pointed out everything before we got to it instead of as we passed it too fast.
There was a scheduled bike event in the city. The cvompany was not ready for it. First, there was no equipment for staff to use to cehck people in. Then there was over a 20 minute wait to get a bus. And the bus was not one of the red ones but a "Big Bus" that has smaller windows and an unpleasant smell on first level. Have taken hop on off buses in many different cities in the world. This was the worst by far.
Fun way to spend the day. We did the whole tour non stop, which was just under 2 hours. Our guide was super knowledgeable and had a great personality. Very affordable way to see Philadelphia and not spend too much money on ride shares since we didn’t have a car. Loved that all the experiences are free and people were very kind. Definitely do this if you have time!
Very informative, a great way to learn the lay of the land. They were very accommodating with my mobility scooter.
If you are staying at hotel, be aware this system requires you print your ticket when you buy online ahead of time. There are work arounds but website doesn’t offer the work arounds. Be resourceful.
Learned a great deal of Philadelphia History. Visit Philadelphia twice a Year. First Time Experience.
We hopped on and hopped off during our visit to Philadelphia. We heard 3 different tour guides during the day. Each guide was very knowledgeable about the Philly City, architecture, personal stories and suggestions of the museums, restaurants and general info about the area. BTW, the "Angelo's" cheesesteaks/pizza is NOT a sit down restaurant. It's a call in our stand in line to order and take away. We ate further down the street at Ralph's Italian restaurant and the food was the best Italian meal I have ever eaten.
First the positives: once we got on the bus, we had a great experience with our first tour guide. He was incredibly well informed, had an amazing voice and gave a great tour. also, early in the day I called the company and spoke to a real person who lured me in. She was great and made me feel like this was a good voice. Now the negatives: - the extremely helpful person who I spoke to early in the day did not fully explain where to get on the bus. I was traveling with my older parents and after a tour of the state penitentiary (yes an actual Philly site to see), they were moving slowly. So I got on my phone and purchased tickets for the bus. Note: don’t do this, you can only get in at two locations (which seems like a dumb rule). Bad idea #2, we waited for 30 minutes for the bus not to come. I downloaded their app and every time I checked the estimated arrival would get pushed back by a minute each time. So we walked 1.3 miles to reading market… After eating lunch we found the busses but no one was there to explain how to get on. I called and got a less helpful person on the phone and a physical person showed up to give me a paper ticket. The whole waiting for the bus was an incredibly rule experience where you are expected to know what to do and yelled at for not doing right but also never explained what the rules are. No signs and only unhelpful staff. However at this point I had purchased my tickets, so we were in. Once we finally got on the bus, we had a great first tour guide. But midway though we stopped had to get off one bus and were told we had to get to another one to finish our tour and we had 2 minutes to do it or we would have to wait 30 minutes for the next bus. So my husband and I and my elderly parents high tailed it to the bus that was about to leave and just barely made it on. This second tour guide was way less good. So your experience will be highly variable based on your guide. Overall, it was a good time but the business and the process was messy and complicated. However there aren’t a lot of options, this is a good way to see the cities highlights but don’t expect a lot of hopping on and off
We bought a two day pass - unfortunately day one temps had dropped to the low 50’s high 40’s and the fine print says buses are not heated nor a/c. I wish we had checked with directly w/vendor because they did have heat. Anyway, day 2 was great. Our first guide was hard to understand and kept talking about he didn’t drive. The second guide and driver were Great! We could clearly hear and understand and the info was interesting. The driver was happy to advise us on area restaurants. We hopped off at the Cathedral Basilica. Absolutely beautiful! I wish we’d had time to do the night tour because so many sites were lit up at night.
Bus sound system was poor - often could not understand guide. Guide used offensive humor. Bus wait times were over 30 minutes at 2 of our stops meaning we didn't get the opportunity to hop off at all the sites we wanted.
Appreciated all three of the guides. Great view and narrative of city sites. Did not appreciate getting slapped in the face by a tree limb or having to duck under low electrical wires.
Very unprofessional staff! Our tour was supposed to start @930 am but we waited outside the Bourse building for over an hour while staff tried to find machines to scan our vouchers and figure out where the bus was. A double decker bus did arrive around 1030 am but left without taking any passengers. A much smaller bus arrived 20 minutes later and a handful of the many people waiting got on this bus. This bus had window tinting and ads covering most of the windows inside, which made it impossible to see anything outside of the bus, unless you looked straight out the front windows. Absolutely do not recommend this tour. Its a total tourist trap.
I would definitely recommend to all tourists. We did a two day pass and still didn’t have enough time to see everything. The only downside was waiting 30 minutes between buses (at least when we visited in October). Hats off to Vinnie and our drivers.
Very easy to use and knowledgeable guides. Met some new people from other parts of the country. Would definitely do it again!
This is a great way to learn the history of Philadelphia. Paul is a fantastic driver, and Sebastian is a great tour guide.
Easy to purchase but 10.00 more with Viator. It was 39.00 in person. I was hoping to save using Viator, not over spend.
Over a two day period the buses were in time. We experienced a variety of hosts and each shared different perspectives of the city. Our favorite was on the 3:00pm bus on Oct. 14 wish we had gotten his name. Every driver was extremely skilled - it is a challenge to navigate the traffic. We loved this experience and highly recommend.
The bus tour was great! Take the tour first then you know what you want to go back to see when you walk. Very informative!
It was a great overall experience. I got to see a ton of the city, and the tour guide was very knowledgeable and funny.
Wish it had been stated more clearly that only one route (the main route) runs from Labor Day through Memorial Day. We wanted to visit the zoo and learned the Phlash pass was a better option for $5. Nice to know all of the bus companies allow you on their busses during off-season.
We obtained the 2025-2026 company brochure from an information kiosk. The one day Senior rate was $36. However, when at the sales desk on the street, the man told us the fee was $47. I showed him my brochure and this was his reply..."Oh, ya, we changed prices in February. The company is too cheap and do not want to throw out all the wrong brochures." Doesn't sit just right with me. Would like my $10 back
Great way to get a quick overview of the city as well as transport. Rode the circle, then kept going back to Reading Market, had dinner, then walked back to my VRBO.
Unable to hear tour guide throughout the entire trip. The sound was poor.
Awesome! Tour guide Nicky is excellent. So knowledgeable. So was the driver, very friendly and helpful.
Good easy way to see Philadelphia for first timers . Getting a good overview of the town helped us plan other excursions.
I paid for the tour online for two people, and was told at the pickup site that half of the tour (east side) was fully closed and not touring because of a Polish parade and festival in which streets were closed. This is the section of the tour that takes you to Rocky and Love art sculpture. We chose not to get on the tour and the site location was unable to honor a refund ($98+) because I paid online. Who do I contact for a refund? I was attending a conference so our time was limited to Sunday afternoon excursions. As an FYI: Pickup sites run every 15-30 minutes with various tour buses (named differently) that basically all work with each other as long as you show proof of payment. The only difference is trolley style versus double stacked buses with open air seating at the top.
The bus ride and narration was good. We could not hear narration on the top of bus in the back. When seats became available we moved up and could hear fine.
It was a good experience. I had numerous tour guides and each added their own touch and bits of information.
2 buses passed by and didn't stop. Waited an hour and finally called and they sent shuttle to pickup.
The HOHO bus was very convenient. The guide was very informative. Our guide was also very humorous..
as no 1 pickup is outside the LIBERTY BELL museum, which opens at 9:00am we visited this 1st to miss the croweds then at 9:30am we caught the 1st bus, then on to the rocky statue at stop 12, after this we visiterd the engineering museum , then took the whole tour finishing at no1 again
It’s a good way to see a lot when you don’t have a lot of time. I bought a 2 day ticket. In the first day, I stayed on the bus except for getting off at the Liberty Bell. By doing it this way, I was able to see places where i definitely wanted to revisit and take more pictures.
Do not count on the bus being on time. We waited over 45 minutes at one stop when it should have been 20 minutes. Be aware there are two hop on hop off bus services. Not the same stops. You can use both but get a map for both or you will get off at the wrong place or miss the stop you wanted.
Great way to see the city. Learned a lot about the history of it and enjoyed the on off so you could have experie ces.
Very informative tour of the city and the tour guide was very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and entertaining. After traveling the entire tour route, we used the same bus to visit the many different attractions throughout the city. Overall, I thought it was well worth the money spent.
Tour guides and bus drivers were fantastic! The reason the tour does not get 5 stars is because the buses are too spaced out. 30+ minutes between them. Better experience in NYC.
The weather was bad. We had to use a trolly bus. This was a waste of money. The weather was bad enough to cancel this activity.
Plan a whole day visit the sights.-we missed the Liberty Bell because we didn’t know where it was exactly. Guess it is inside a building. Also need more buses so you don’t have to wait so long to get to another site.
