Nina was so funny & knowledgeable! She organized the tour in a smooth and yummy way !! The food choices were fabulous. Highly recommend for foodies who have never visited Philly and like a bit of history.
Great experience, good food and some excellent history thrown for good measure. If at all possible, try to get Barry as your guide. He made it even more special. Reading market is sensational.
Our tour guide, Barry, incredible!!! Not only was the food portion of it exceptional but his knowledge of historical landmarks in the area was a pleasant bonus!!
This is a great walking tour with some great food and lots of great history. Barry was our guide and made the experience even better. I would recommend this to anyone who loves to taste the local fare with some free history while you do it, especially if Barry is there.
We did several excursions while in Philadelphia, the food tour with Chuck was by far the best. He was very knowledgeable regarding the history, food, and locations. Highly recommend Chuck!!! Thank you!!
This tour was a nice mix of history and food. We really enjoyed visiting the Central market and sampling cheesesteak, dumplings and soft pretzels. We made other stops after the market to sample dessert, Korean food and finished up at the oldest tavern in Philly to sample another form of cheesesteak in an egg roll. We were all full at the end of the tour after all of the tasty samples. Jason, our tour guide was very knowledgeable about Philly history and food. Highly recommend this fun tour.
Dale was phenomenal! So smart and full of information on architecture, history and food. We tested a variety of food that we might not have known about if it weren’t for Dale. The small group was perfect for conversation and questions. Thank you, Dale!
Brittany was our guide. She was amazing. I have done other food tours this was the best. Not only did we taste traditional Philly foods but Korean as weak. Britts knowledge about the city was fabulous. Her personality made the trip enjoyable. I would highly recommend her to anyone who is looking not only for a food experience but a travelogue of philly
Nina was relaxed, fun, easy-going, but yet full of Philadelphia history and fun trivia… a perfect balance. We enjoyed each stop along the way with interesting conversation…. And delicious food choices.
We were very excited about this tour. Guide was very good. Food good. Timing - well, it was advertised as a 2.5 hour tour, but it only lasted 1 hr and 40 minutes...wonder what we missed???
James did an amazing job telling not only the history of the food but also Philadelphia history along the way. I tried new items I never had before. The selections were amazing.
Great Tour guides and tours. Love Reading Market
It’s an amazing way to explore the city and try different foods. Tour guide Dale is AMAZING! I will go again
Great tour! Fun and better than just roaming around on our own. Learned some great history and food facts. Recommend!
The tour guide is very knowledgeable . The tour was really fun. Our guide was very funny and lively. The guide was very professional and courteous ad well. I would recommend my friends and family to do this tour. I will definitely do this tour again
Put this on your must do list in Philadelphia. Fantastic guide, delicious tastings, history and fun!
Outstanding experience, even though it rained. Good tour of the market, the upstairs ballroom, and various nearby eateries.
Our guide (Rick) was very knowledgeable, and the food selections included a combination of local mainstays (Pretzels & cheesesteak), along with “off the beaten path” tastings such as the inari and Georgian Dumplings to demonstrate Philly’s diversity. Was also very accommodating for the rainy weather. Would highly recommend.
This was a great way to learn more about the city and try some great foods. Rick was a fantastic guide and you should definitely book this for your Philly trip! Come hungry :)
Fun delicious experience ! We also learned more about the history of the city as we walked from place to place.
The amount and quality of food was perfect!
Rick was wonderful!! Highly recommend! We learned so much about Philly and included to 4 different “tastes”.
Great tour and delicious foods of various types.
Amazing food and center city tour with Rick! He sent a text message to introduce himself as well a list of his favorite Philly places to go to when visiting this beautiful city… so awesome! He was very knowledgeable about Philly’s history, architecture, and artwork as we walked around a few blocks of the city center to sample some foods… pretzels, dumplings, warm cookies, inari roll and of course, Philly cheesesteaks! Rick took us through the fabulous Reading Market. After a quick run through of the market and a food sampling, we headed outside to see the rest of the city center. He reminded us to “look up” to see the artwork and preservation efforts of historical buildings and architecture within the city. Tummies were full, brains absorbed a wealth of Philly history, and we met some great people on the tour. I enjoyed the tour very much and highly encourage you to take the tour if you’re ever in Philly!
Had a blast. Would definitely do again!
We really enjoyed our food tour with Rick. He shared historical information about the area and architecture as we moved between food venues, and was a good storyteller. A nice variety of food was shared, including food from other cultures.
Barry was great and an excellent guide. Learned so much about Philadelphia along the way. Food was delish and plentiful!
Barry was a great tour guide, adding lots of fun and interesting information about the city sites along the way.
I have been on several food tours and this one was more history than food. The food was mostly sweets and not enough variety. Our guide was very nice, but spoke so fast we couldn’t understand what he was saying half the time. Your company has a #1 rating but didn’t meet up to your rating.
First hour was outside during a Nor’easter. Other than one restaurant which was similar to sushi we spent the rest of the food experience in the market. Don’t need a tour guide for that. Expected we would visit more restaurants and should have been cancelled due to weather.
Great tour with excellent information as well as delicious treats. Barry did a nice job taking us to unknown sights we would have missed on our own. Highly recommend.
Easy, fun, we learned a lot. Ate good food. Guide James was excellent. A true historian, nothing rote.
Great food and a great guide, Tom Lamb was very knowledgeable. He pointed out many interesting places.
Nina was absolutely wonderful, and her food choices were perfect! We loved every minute of the tour--food and history equally. Will definitely recommend Nina and the tour to friends.
Nina was absolutely great! Food selections were carefully and purposely chosen and did NOT disappoint. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who likes to explore the local foods and try things they may otherwise never try. We had just enough history peppered in and it was a very enjoyable morning.
Nina was a fabulous tour guide! She is funny, knowledgeable about the city and the food.
The food was great - loved the Redding Market! The problem with the tour was the guide, I believe his name was Barry. He arrived late and handed us pretzels which seemed like should have been our first stop. There were only 4 of us on the tour and he seemed pleased it would be a shorter tour as a result. Barry was not particularly friendly or engaging and left little time for questions. Luckily the other couple on the tour were nice and we enjoyed their company.
Great time. Really enjoyed it.
Good tour- enjoyed the history and culture. Food was good- but a HUGE MISS with the cheesesteak. On a beat of Philly food tour- that needs to be spot on!! The guide didn’t like cheesesteaks and made it clear she didn’t care where she got it from! You need to get Gus’s if you purchase at market!!
Barry, our guide was fantastic!! He made the experience feel like a private tour, ensuring we all were comfortable and having a good time. The food in the tour was great! I liked that we had stops along the way to Reading Terminal Market. Barry shares historical notes along our tour which really helped round out our experience. We never felt rushed and left with full bellies :)
This tour was a little bit of history with a lot of food. Our guide, Nana, was a delight to speak to. She was extremely knowledgeable and answered all questions asked.
Great food! Excellent guide! Plus there was a lot of interesting history as well as the food. Also, the Reading Market was a blast!
Great food!! Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and told funny stories. Lots of walking but that’s what it’s sbout
I thought our guide was very informative and knowledgeable about the food and area, he just talked rather fast and it was difficult to understand him at times. Too bad the market wouldn’t maybe let you reserve a little seating area so the group could sit together and get even more information! It would be a lot easier for the guide to hand out food items as well! Otherwise, everything was great!
Our guide was very knowledgeable and had many stories to share. A great way to learn about Philly!
Barry was a wonderful guide - very knowledgeable and great sense of humor. I would book another tour with him if in ever back in the area.
Unfortunately, this food tour was disappointing. Barry our tour guide was knowledgeable on history, but had no personality and treated the small group like numbers. He arrived late and never really introduced himself or asked our names. Referred to us as “my friends” the whole day. The food stops were a little, disappointing in that our pretzel was an Amish pretzel, not Philadelphia pretzel, and he literally brought it with him when he finally arrived, and we ate it standing on the street as he explained what we would do that day. The next stop was a small cookie from insomnia cookies it was good but again felt rushed in and out. Our best stop was at Mari Mari for a Japanese sushi. Loved the Reading Terminal market however, we had one cheesesteak sandwich to share with four of us and he literally pulled it apart with his hands, which was very messy and we had no forks even after asking. Ice cream from Bassettes was pretty yummy, but unfortunately, we had that at the same time as the Philly steak. Felt like we were very rushed and tour finished in less than two hours he chalked that up to the small group, but he really rushed us through our questions, and dining. Sadly Barry also was not the cleanest person either.
Having taken many food tours around the world, I must say that I was disappointed with this one. The guide Barry knew his script well and recited it rather than interacted with us. There were only 4 people on the tour and he never even asked our names or where we were from. He rushed through things with little time for questions or discussion. The food tastings were nice but also rushed. He didn’t seem like he wanted to be there and seemed happy that with only a few of us he could end early. Technically there were only 3 stops- he brought pretzels to the starting point and the last two tastings were together at the same place. We did get a little history of Philly which was nice.
I enjoyed the tour. It was just not an eating tour our guide was very informative about different Philly attractions . Really enjoyed it and it was well worth the cost to me.
