Kane was an enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide. Whenever we singled out a building and asked “what’s that?” He knew! The bikes were amazing and comfortable and we felt emboldened biking the streets of the city as well as the bike paths along the water and over the bridge. Learned about the city’s history and just saw so much. A great experience. Our first bike tour ever and we are hooked. Thank you Kane!!

As a native of Pittsburgh I found this tour to be enlightening and Dave did a wonderful job and Owen was most polite
The tour guides are incredibly fun and knowledgeable, and the bikes are very high quality / comfortable / easy to ride. The tour goes through so many beautiful, historic, and scenic areas. I would highly recommend it to anyone! Kane, especifically, was an INCREDIBLE tour guide and made the journey so enjoyable and educational!
This activity was alot of fun you cover alot of the city and learn some history. The tour guide truly enjoys his job.
Bike the Burgh Neighborhood Gems tour was an awesome experience, revealing some amazing sites in Pittsburgh's neighborhoods on or near the North Side - Mexican War Streets, Randyland, Manchester, Bicycle Heaven, along the rivers, stadiums, bridges and more. Biking is a great way to see these neighborhoods and side streets. Our guide, Dave, was a fountain of historical, cultural, architectural, and Pittsburgh knowledge. He'll go as deep as you want into this or just scratch the surface with some fun and interesting factoids. He was also personable, funny, patient, and flexible with all our questions and stops along the way. The bikes are new, in great condition, and very easy to use. Scheduling our tour was also easy and convenient, as we did have some concerns about weather and logistics. Very highly recommended operator, tour guides, and bikes! Their enthusiasm about Pittsburgh is contagious. We've been on city bike tours in Paris, New Orleans, San Francisco, Savannah, and Chicago and this ranks with the best of them!
There are hills and you will ride on streets with traffic. Just a heads up 😀. Our guide, Doug, was fabulous. Personable, charming, knowledgeable and funny. We learned sooooo much about the history of Pittsburgh, from its founding to current day. The tour takes about 3 hours, and has many stops along the way. Lots of opportunities to take photos. Bring your own water and sunglasses. There is a small bag on the front of the bike to store your water, cell phone, etc. Biking the Burgh has the highlight of our trip to Pittsburgh so far.
This is our second tour with the company We started with the walking tour and two days later had the pleasure of joining our Tour guide Kane on excellent bicycles for a three hour bike ride through the cultural and downtown districts and on the north and South Shore of the river. It was beautiful scenic and interesting. Can do all the great spots to stop and sit with shade as he discussed some important historical issues in Pittsburgh history having to deal with the socioeconomic evolution of the city and how they combat the dark period of heavy industrialization and pollution with a renaissance of urban renewal to make it the pleasant city is today. Kane is Smart witty Tour Guide who made it really interesting for us and deepen our appreciation of the urban renewal effort in Pittsburgh. I would highly recommend this toward anyone and it was really great to get some exercise along the way.. did I already say that the bikes they use are fantastic?
We rode around the "Burgh" with Doug! What a treat. Some businesses would have cancelled our ride since we were the only participants. This company did not. We spent 3 hours doing relatively easy bike ride. Their new bikes have gear shift that you simply twist to make the ride easier or harder, and no more bike chains. Wow! Doug clearly enjoyed sharing his city and as former teacher, he knew how to engage us. He was also so thoughtful about explaining the next set of turns to get to our next stop. Saw everything we wanted to see and felt safe biking around the Burgh!!
Perfect way to see the city! Great exercise and up close views along the river. Kane our guide was awesome. We saw all the neighborhoods and learned a lot about Pittsburgh’s history.
Harry was an outstanding guide and we loved this bike tour … a super introduction into Pittsburgh … do not hesitate to book
I did the three rivers sunset walking tour. The tour was great and the guide, Alan, was fantastic. He was very knowledgeable, friendly, and personable. We walked at a comfortable pace and sunset is a beautiful time. I learned a lot about Pittsburgh. I recommend this to anyone who likes scenic views, history, and/architecture. Can’t wait to tell my wife and son all about it!!
My will be attending Pitt next month and we were visiting for a few days to get him acclimated to his new home. I thought it might be fun to do a bike tour that includes a lot of history of the city he will be calling home the next four years. We were not disappointed! Daniel was an excellent guide who was a font of information about Pittsburgh and exceedingly friendly. It was three hours well spent and a great value.
Our guide Doug was fun & informative! Great way to learn about the history of the city. Worth the time and $$
I did the 3 hour Beauty of the Burg. My tour guide was Daniel and he did a great job. Learn a lot about the history and architecture of the city of Pittsburgh. We probably made more than a dozen stops in different areas of the city. It was an easy bike route, with not many hills. Tour was a great way to learn and see the city of Pittsburgh.
The bike ride was perfect. We learned about the history of Pittsburgh and the neighborhoods. Doug was an excellent tour guide. We would recommend this tour to anyone visiting Pittsburgh.
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our bicycle tour of Pittsburgh. Our guide -- Doug -- was wonderful, and provided a wealth of information about Pittsburgh's history, culture, and current status. What a great city!
Ken was our guide on the History and Architecture tour of Pittsburgh. He was very informative. He did a great job!
I was just hanging out in Pittsburgh for the first time, visiting from Salt Lake City, and wanted to get to know the city a little better. Doug was fantastic—very knowledgeable, with a great sense of humor—and the flow of the tour felt perfect. Highly recommend!
I was a walk-in for the tour. The staff was all very friendly and helpful. The bikes were all in perfect working order and easy to operate. I am 6'5", and their bike fit me perfectly. We had 11 on the tour. It was a perfect size group and was a real friendly atmosphere. The tour was 3 hours long. The time flew by, and I learned a lot. I feel like the tour was best for someone who is not afraid of a little biking and wants to see the cities highlights in a short period of time. I think paid around $50. Finally, I took the ride and a Sunday, and it was easy to ride a bike around Pittsburgh with its bike paths and bike lanes.
Awesome time! Great blend of exercise and education. Doug was very engaged with us and we learned quite a bit of Pittsburgh history. Highly recommend!
Doug Yoder was our biking tour guide through the beautiful city of Pittsburgh. He was a combination of professional and knowledgeable and delightful. I highly recommend this tour.
Absolutely awesome experience! Our guide Doug Yoder was great, providing fascinating background and historical context as well as amusing anecdotes about the city’s history and the players involved, all while shepherding our group through the city streets.
Booking was easy & Val greeted us & set us up with a bike & helmet. Doug was a terrific tour guide. We learned a lot about the city & its history while taking a lovely ride. Would highly recommend this tour.
Pros: Bicycles all clean. New fully functional conditions. Fanny pack pouch on bike to hold belongings. Optional helmets in great condition provided. Tour started on time. Clean bathroom. Staff made an effort to be energetic and get to know guests. Got to ride over a bridge. Leisurely ride at a reasonable speed for all guests. The tour guide was aware of everybody’s positions at all times and followed traffic safety rules. Great weather on our tour day. Additional waters provided to guests even though your description says no water would be provided. Cons: If you are looking to learn about Pittsburgh in terms of where to go explore on your own after from this tour, it would unfortunately be a HUGE letdown. There are a plethora of things to do here and sadly none were highlighted on a tour that is indented to do just that. For example: 1. Many historical landmarks, like the Duquesne incline, were not even MENTIONED, even when in plain sight. 2. Instead of showing or identifying local gems at the strip district (one of the most unique and fantastic places here imo), we stood a block over on the corner and discussed river water pH. 3. Instead of explaining that there is a Heinz History Center museum or going to see it, we stood in the alley way of the Heinz apartment complex. 4. The PPG stop was omitted entirely from our tour as well; bummer because it does contain unique architectural elements, as well as activities like seasonal skating rinks; these are all fun tidbits for families to learn or visitors looking for additional fun things to do that were a shame to leave out. It was a snooze fest that didn’t actually convey the activities or spunk this great city has to offer; there was a lot of talking and surface level lecturing at all the stops but unfortunately, I learned almost absolutely nothing. The guide was genuinely enthusiastic, did have a vast historical array of textual knowledge, and really did try, but it didn’t quite land for me. There were also a lot of bugs biting the tour group and leader while the guide was talking at the first two stops for over 20 min, so bring bug spray if you do attend. Could have just been that particular day though and that’s not really in the operator’s control. Sad to leave this a poor review after being so excited & really wanting to love it. If I returned to Pittsburgh or had a friend looking for an itinerary, I would recommend alternatives.
Bikes were in great shape. Brian, the tour guide, provided excellent information about the city along with instructions regarding safety considerations.
Can't say enough amazing things about our tour in April 2026 with Harry B! Our family of 3, including a capable 5 year old rider on a child's tandem, had an incredible experience exploring the city with Harry! He was an excellent communicator, ensured we were having fun while being safe, made sure to share all the info the adults were interested in while still engaging our son, and was able to attend to the other members of our group, including an 82 year old rider. His friendly demeanor and genuine pride in his city was palpable. The fee was a bargain for the length of trip, and they were very kind in letting us use their child's tandem instead of having to attach our own. My only comment would be that our bikes were a little old, and my gears slipped a lot during the trip, but as an experienced rider, it wasn't an issue for me. I also could have easily asked to return to the shop for a different bike, but felt comfortable continuing with the tour. I know they are introducing new bikes this spring, so future tours won't have that issue. We will definitely book again with Bike the Burgh when we return to Pittsburgh and highly recommend them! Thanks, Harry!
Listen… if you want to ride a bike, laugh, learn, and fall in love with Pittsburgh all at the same time, Bike the Burgh Tours is where the magic happens. Whether you’re a visitor or a born‑and‑raised Yinzer, this tour will have you saying, “How did I not know THAT about my own city?” And the staff? Oh, honey… they’re the real MVPs. Val, the owner, greets you like you’re already part of the Bike Burgh family. Hannah keeps the whole operation smooth like fresh pavement. Dave, our tour guide, dropped history, humor, and hidden gems like he was hosting his own show. And Carl, the mechanic—bless him—tuned my bike so perfectly I felt like I was gliding through the city on a cloud. The whole crew brings the energy, the knowledge, and the heart. You don’t just take a tour—you experience Pittsburgh in a way that sticks with you. If you want fun, culture, connection, and a little Thunder in your day, Bike the Burgh Tours is the BEST in the city. Period. Miss Thunder
Rented 2 Gazelle e bikes in Pittsburgh and bike 5 days to Cumberland MD on the Great Allegheny Passage (GAP). My son and I had a great time and these bikes and the folks at Bike the Burgh made a great difference. We received great service and support and they were wonderful. A big shout out to Sarah for all her support and recommendations. You can’t go wrong using Bike the Burgh!!
This is just a great experience to live. Our guide, Mark, is just the most kind person. He has really aware of us which I really appreciate since my mom had a knee surgery about a couple years ago and she was worried she couldn´t make it but Mark was really supportive. The city is just amazing and the best way to know it is riding a bike. Mark also gave us a little present and bought us some snacks, we weren´t expecting that so we´ll forever remember him and Sarah who works at the bike shop and she´s also wonderful.
A really informative tour. A lot of stops to view the buildings and learn of the town’s past. Biking was safe through the streets, bridges and bike paths. It was a gorgeous day and our group was terrific. Dave did a good job! Over three hours just got a little long.
Sarah was our phenomenal guide on our bike your today. She was a wealth of information about Pittsburgh, which was beneficial for a first time visitor to this lovely City. The biking was easy, good bikes/helmets, and several stops at the important places to note in the City, while including the history of the City as well. Everything from architecture to bridges to trees, to other important sites in the City was included. We're here for a Green Bay Packer VS Steelers NFL game this weekend on Sunday night, but this tour was another big highlight to our long weekend here. Would recommend it to anyone. Also...they have other tours to choose from, so check them out!!
Great views of the architecture and natural beauty of the city! Sarah brought to life the history of the city with well-told stories!
Fantastic tour for a first time Pittsburgh visitor!!!! Sarah was a phenomenal guide- super knowledgeable, personable and amazingly remembered all 20ish peoples names. It provided a great variety of sights and orientation to the city. Highly recommend for new or seasoned Pittsburgh travelers!
A great way to learn about the city and get a little bike ride in as well. Our guide was very knowledgeable in history and architecture
my husband and I had a wonderful tour with Harry! This was our first trip to Pittsburgh and it was the perfect way to get an overview of the city. We learned a lot about the history and amazing architecture of this transformed city. What a great introduction to a beautiful city! Harry did a great job of keeping us safe on the ride and ensuring we had the opportunity to explore all the highlights.
Doug was a former school teacher and is an engaging tour guide. He knows so much about the city we really felt educated about Pittsburgh. The bikes were older but very comfortable. Pittsburgh is a beautiful city.
What a phenomenal way to get to know the city of Pittsburgh! It was our first time to Pittsburgh and we loved seeing all the amazing architecture and nature areas!! Highly recommend Daniel as a tour guide!
We had a thoroughly enjoyable time getting to know Pittsburgh on a bike on a beautiful day; it was one of our favorite activities of our little getaway trip to the city. Doug was an excellent tour guide sharing his knowledge about the city with all of us. We highly recommend taking this tour!
This tour was excellent, it took us to all corners of the city and was filled with endless facts and historic details. We really enjoyed the pace that allowed us to take time and view all the areas of interest but also biked close to 8 miles. We were very Happy with the numerous bike lanes and light city traffic on the tour. Our guide was Sarah, with an “H” and she was excellent, very knowledgeable, engaging, and just a really sweet soul, if you’re lucky you might even get her to sing a bit. We will certainly do this tour again in the future when they come and visit Pittsburgh.
Dave was a great guide! Being new to Pittsburgh, we enjoyed learning about the city, history, bridges and architecture. You see so much more from a bicycle. Great bike trails and lanes in Pittsburgh!
Kane was a great guide; friendly, quirky, and full of Pittsburgh history. The ride is amazingly Flat considering you are in the city.
Great bike tour… saw a lot of the city and enjoyed hearing about Pittsburgh’s history, architecture, and culture. Tour guide Kane was informative and enthusiastic.
Great tour but perhaps a little pricey. Tour guide was personable and very fun to listen to! Great way to learn a little about the city
Great day cruising through Pittsburgh. Doug was informative and funny. The course was well planned and covered a lot for not being strenuous. Would recommend
Really enjoyed the three hour Bike the Burgh tour, the tour guide was excellent and managed to lead the group through several miles of scenic paths while giving some great historical information about the area. The rental bike was in great condition and well suited for biking through the city, and I kept the bike for some time after the tour to explore the city on my own.
Incredibly lucky to have taken Harry’s bicycle tour. As a native, he was able to share his personal Pittsburgh experience as well as the historical characteristics of the downtown area. The ride was easy and safe and covered somewhere between 4-5 miles of total distance. Great for families or anyone looking for some deeper insight into the area.
Henry was a knowledgeable, engaging tour guide! We covered a lot of ground and even more history of Pittsburgh. He kept us in the shade on a very hot day and safe when riding in the street.
Doug was very knowledgeable on the sites we visited he kept the trip lighthearted and fun. the trip was fairly easy but not hurried so it made for a nice time. We had stops along the way for his story time but the three hours went by fairly quickly.
The bike tour was perfect, Sarah is very knowledgeable and so fun! We learned a lot and enjoyed the slower pace as opposed to a bus tour.
Our tour guide, Daniel was so knowledgeable about Pittsburgh! We both are originally from Pittsburgh and learned a lot of new information about Pittsburgh and its history. The ride was very easy too!
