Dave was great tour guide with interesting stories and history about Pittsburgh. I have been coming to Pittsburgh for 9 years and decided to do a tour to learn more. I’m glad I did.
It was a great historical city tour. Our tour guide, Alan, was very knowledgeable and made it interesting.
Excellent tour. I have taken family on this tour twice in the past 18 months, this is the third time. Guide Ken for the first two tours was excellent. Yesterday, Myrna was our tour guide. She provided a different perspective and a few different stops, also making for an excellent tour. So, for me, I found that I had learned even more about this city that I have come to love since moving her 30 years ago. My family enjoyed this walking tour immensely. Once again "Walk the Burgh Tours" provided an opportunity to learn about the great history of Pittsburgh! Perfect start to our day! Highly recommend this tour ~ you will not be disappointed!
I really enjoyed this tour. I learned a lot about Pittsburgh's history and architecture. Ken was a great guide.
Fantastic tour, Ken was very knowledgeable and interesting
We had never been to Pittsburgh and wanted to see some architecture and see some of downtown. This tour MORE than delivered! Our guide, Alan, was so knowledgeable and so adept at sharing the history of Pittsburgh. We highly recommend this tour -so glad we did this.
The tour was wonderful! Just the right amount time - 2 hours with an exceptional guide Allan who was a wealth knowledge. Highly recommend.
We traveled to Pittsburgh with another couple and took our tour with Ken. Can't say enough good things about his welcoming demeanor and wealth of knowledge of Pittsburgh. We wished we asked if he had been a history teacher previously. He was engaging, funny and really included the people on our small group tour. We learned so much and saw so much on our walking tour. By far one of the best tour guides we've had the opportunity to meet. Thanks Ken!
Fun, engaging tour! Just the right length!
We took the Best of the Burgh Walking Tour with another couple and it was excellent! Our guide, Ken, was exceptional. If he were a professor, I would take every course he offered! Not only does he know Pittsburgh's history (he has lived there his entire life), but he has the gift to tell stories in the most engaging way. We left with a strong sense of the city's heritage, as well as its layout and connection to the rivers. I highly recommend this tour, as well as doing it on your first day there. This city is spread out with several unique districts - this tour will give you a sense of its layout to optimize your time.
Ken was very knowledgeable and informative about the city. We truly enjoyed our tour so much.
Wow, what a wonderful, informative tour of Pittsburgh. Ken was an outstanding tour guide who clearly enjoys what he does and has deep understanding of the Pittsburgh (both with and without an "h") history. He kept it interesting, fun facts, and even shared jargon to help us speak like a local. Recommend this tour for anyone that has an extra two hours in the city or more.
I HIGHLY recommend this walking tour of downtown Pittsburgh. Ken was an amazing tour guide and shared so many fun facts about the city, Pittsburgh culture, and we saw some pretty fabulous architecture too. He wore a speaker to project his voice above the din of the city and really had us laughing all along too.
Within 5 minutes, I knew this was going to be a great tour! Ken was wonderful and we learned so much about Pittsburgh and its history. The pace was just right for our group and we went places I wouldn’t have thought to visit on my own. This tour really enhanced our trip and made us want to come back again. Pitt
It was a very enlightening tour . We were in town to see the Cardinals and Pirates play and did this the morning before the game. Our guide was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to learn about the city.
The tour was fun and we saw lots of interesting downtown landmarks. I would have loved just a little more historical information about Pittsburgh, and the people and industries who shaped it, but overall, I enjoyed the tour.
Our guide was Ken. The tour was very informative and enjoyable.. Ken was helpful with guiding us through downtown traffic, pausing his info when there wnoise. Very professional and courteous guide. Our weather was great which helped.
Very informative... lots of points of interest that i did not know of the history or significance...
Kayne was an ** exceptional ** tour guide! He knows Pittsburgh and knows how to share it with a small group in an interesting, entertaining way. We highly recommend this tour.
A great way to get a sense for the history and architecture in downtown Pittsburgh. Kane's commentary really added to the tour.
Outstanding walking tour that combined history and architecture. Guide was excellent and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend. Minor point--our guide projected very well, but I wish he would have used a portable mic as the downtown area is noisy.
Tour was ok but not worth the price. Issue was the guide. Nice enough guy and maybe it was ann off day for him. He spoke too fast (an older woman was having trouble keeping up), and to give an example, when asked some basic questions, he was telling people to Google to get the answer. The narrative seemed disjointed and the whole tour was just weirdly off kilter. Cannot recommend.
Our guide, Kane, was very knowledgeable and kept us informed and entertained throughout the tour. It was a great tour!
This was overall an excellent tour. Kane is very knowledgeable and shared a lot about the history of the area and the architecture of many of its buildings. I was not surprised when he said that in his spare time he is active in the local historical society. After the previous walking tour we did elsewhere was a problem because the guide would speak facing forward, making it hard for anyone not right next to him to hear, we were pleased that Kane both projected his voice and was careful to face us nearly all the time. (Even so, I do like the tours that provide mics and earpieces so that’s not a problem.) We were disappointed the tour skipped Point State Park, where Fort Pitt is. We must have run out of time while we learned about so many other things. Even so, it was a 5-star tour.

Ken was a knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide. We had a decent size group but he was able to keep track of everyone and the pace of the tour was great. I learned a lot about Pittsburgh and would recommend the tour to anyone who has not done it. Very well done and good value for money.
Had a fabulous walking tour today with our guide Dave and just one other couple. We had done the Biking the Burgh tour two days ago which was a great way to explore various parts of the city. The walking tour today took us through downtown and we were able to learn so much about the architecture and we were able to go inside of some of the most beautiful lobby’s. Dave was extremely knowledgeable about the foundation of the city, discussed the titans of industry that built many of the buildings and discussed the ups and downs of economy, the restoration and rejuvenation of downtown once big steel left. Everywhere you go in this city you will find beautiful green spaces, wonderful fountains and landmarks. Taking both of these tours are a great start to any visit. We have returned to several of the places we learned about on our own. We have two more days and still have a ‘must go back and see list before we l leave to go home.
Leisurely paced walking tour. Lots of info to absorb. Especially liked the architectural elements of the tour. Saturday was a good day; not much traffic.
wonderful tour with wonderful tour guide! learned so much about pittsburgh while enjoying a beautiful summer day. ken, our guide, was knowledgeable, witty, and clearly passionate about steel city. wonderful way to learn about and explore this lovely town. highly recommend!
This was a great Pittsburgh history lesson. Ken was very knowledgeable and had many great stories
Great tour. Ken is excellent and has a lot of information to share. He certainly has a passion for Pittsburgh and its history. Tour is at a very comfortable pace and covers a lot of downtown. Highly recommend.
We were first time visitors to Pittsburgh and this is an excellent way to get your bearings and an understanding of how this city came to be and what has become now. Can our Tour Guide was articulate intelligent and Will informed and he gave us a lot of good history with a bonus focus on all the great architecture in the city and it was all peppered with humorous anecdotal stories about the characters and personalities that made Pittsburgh what it is today I would highly recommend this tour to anyone as well as their biking tour which I will review in another section.
Lots of great information about the history of Pittsburgh. But this could also be described as an architectural tour due to all of the fine buildings that you go by or go in. Our guide was very informative and fun.
Our guide, Ken, was incredibly knowledgeable and really brought the local history to life with engaging stories. Even though we’ve been to Pittsburgh a few times before, we learned so much on this tour and came away with a much deeper appreciation for the city. Highly recommend!
Ken was awesome!! Very knowledgeable
"Walk the Burg Tour" is a great way to show family and friends Pittsburgh and its interesting history. This is the second time Ken was the tour guide for visiting family. His knowledge is extensive and his presentation is excellent. He covers important facts broadly then returns to delve deeper. This technique helps to really appreciate and understand the interesting history that we have in Pittsburgh. I once again came away from this tour loving this city, I have called home for more than 30 years, even more!
I had Ken for a Best of the Burgh tour. He was absolutely excellent. Ken was probably the first friendly person that my spouse and I encountered in Pittsburgh, fortunately. He almost saved our trip. His patience, clearly genuine enthusiasm for the rich history of the city, and his dedication to his craft were evident in the way he spoke. After doing a bus tour the day before with the The Pittsburgh Tour Company, where, while helpful, everything felt a little scripted and robotic, this walking tour on such a nice day helped turn around what was becoming a pretty disappointing vacation. I really appreciate this company and the people it hires, and would definitely recommend any tour that they offer if you're considering one.
This is a fantastic walking tour. We were a very small group of three and Alan did an exceptional job of giving us the history of the area and pointing out little interesting things we would have never seen on our own. Highly recommend!
The guide was very informative.Lots of old buildings. Overall it was a view of the city I would not have seen before.
Great tour! Marisa the guide was great and knowledgeable about the area and history.
The guide was a nice enough guy, but he rambled about meaningless information throughout the walk. He provided very little historical context for a city with plenty of interesting history. It was clear that he is more interested in building architecture than the history and culture ofPittsburgh. Very disappointing. We abandoned ship after one hour.
Alan was a great guide. He was very knowledgeable and relayed the information in an engaging way. The historical detail provided was amazing and gave a unique perspective on the history of Pittsburgh. I would recommend the tour to anyone visiting Pittsburgh!
Tour was well-organized and well-paced. .Myra (sp?) was an excellent guide... quite knowledgeable and interesting. Highly recommend.
The weather forecast was ominous, but ended up holding and Ken was awesome! Highly recommend any of their tours based on the walking tour alone!
Our guide was very knowledgeable and personable. We learned a lot and will be back
Our guide seemed to know only basic knowledge of buildings. There was no nuance or even second chapter history book tidbits to share
A super way to see yhe downtown “musts” inside and out. Very Informative Marisa. Easy to book and execute - on foot!!
Thank you, Dave! He is a well prepared tour guide, and he understood our needs, which were to go in a slower pace and avoid difficult hills. He knew the history and the architecture ofdowntown Pittsburgh. He shared it eloquently. He let us sit and rest when we needed to. All good. Thank you, Dave!
My sister and I joined the small group on July 22 for the Architectural Tour and we were literally amazed at all the information . Our guide couldn’t have been better, she imparted all of her extensive knowledge and our group was amazed from start to finish. She took her time with us, answering all of our questions and addressing our comments. It was just a perfect 3 hours of walking and experiencing. FYI, my sister still lives in Pittsburgh and I visit every summer. We will be booking another tour soon with Best of the Burgh!
